    Graphic

I got this laptop 2weeks ago. I would say this laptop works good, but there are two big issues about this. First, the serious trouble is the graphic is not scaling for new software!!!! For example, my SQL server almost works nothing because windows run it's options and buttons on each other and it impossible to work with that and first time I thought this problem is come from SQL but when it happened for my printer software as same and when I read article about this laptop on other forums, I saw same issue for other people then I got it is serious trouble and if it doesn't fix then I'm gonna return it because if this laptop has graphic issue means worth =000 second problem is, the fan keep making noise non-stop and laptop gets super hot that U are not able touch it, for it will burn your fingers!! which is weird. However, this laptop works great about other things. I hope after this review someone can solve my graphic problem at least!

      Hello Amin,

We're sorry that your computer has not been performing the way that you hoped it would. We'd recommend reaching out to Dell's Technical Support Team about the graphics issue that you're experiencing: http://dell.to/2sH7Qlm.

If you'd like to minimize the fan noise on your computer we'd recommend these steps:

Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.

If you have additional questions about your computer you can check out our Product Support Page here: https://dell.to/2O6wTx8.

    Laptot shutting down

Hello, I bought a Dell laptop on 06/29/2019 (Order Date) and the order number was BBY01-805630793059 (ORDER #). The laptop was delivered on 07/04/2019. It was an open-box, according to model: "Open Box - Dell - Inspiron 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD + Optane - Black Model: I7390-7100BLK-PUS SKU: 6339272 Condition: Certified ". The computer was received by my sister, who was vacationing in Orlando. On 07/14/2019 my sister returned to Brazil and gave me the computer. From the beginning I noticed that he had a small scratch on the screen and also one near the keyboard. I am very disappointed with Best Buy, because even though I knew it was an open-box, I believed that it was at the Excellent level (Open-Box Excellent - Certified). Despite the sadness, I decided to turn on the computer. Everything seemed fine and I started to do the Windows configurations. However, when I was on the screen to put the wifi network, the computer simply shut down. I thought it was the power plug, but I checked and it was working. I turned on again and restarted the settings and again it hung up. I repeated the process several times until I was able to configure Windows. I started using windows and again it shut down. I noticed that it is getting very hot and that the cooler makes a lot of noise. I believe that the shut down should have something to do with it. I tested it in "cabin" mode with the nearby air conditioner and managed to leave it agum time without turning off. However, when I put it in normal mode it shut down in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately I live in the state of Amazon, Brazil, and I have no idea what could be done. I would really appreciate your help. I'm very regret I bought the open-box. I believe it would have been much better to buy the band new version. Please help me find a solution for this.

      Simon,

Thanks for your feedback. Please note that there was a new BIOS for your computer released in early September. Please make sure that your computer has this latest BIOS in order to help with the overheating that you're experiencing: https://dell.to/37OVu1X.

Here are some additional tips to help with overheating:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.

    Poor video and network drivers

    |

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.

From a spec to cost perspective, this was a good buy. However, there are some flaws that none of the pro reviews discovered. First, the aluminum shell is very thin and offers little protection. The shell is also abnormally slick, making it easy to loose your grip. I had to place a number of grip stickers on it else it would not be safe to have on my lap or carry. The lack of an external power button means it probably can’t use most docking stations (I dock with the lid closed). I paired it with a Dell dock that has a button to trigger wake, but it was a premium cost. Frustrating is that the video driver does not always like to transition from dock to mobile or back, or from tablet to laptop mode, sometimes requiring effort to reconfigure the setup. The worst element is the network drivers, and yes, I have updated them (often) - it takes a long time (or sometimes never) for the device to reconnect to a network after waking from any type of sleep mode. On numerous occasions, the only fix solution is to reset (remove/reload) the network drivers. Given these flaws, I would not buy a Dell again. I have a comparable spec HP utilized in the same exact manner with none of these flaws. I need a laptop that goes from lap to connected dock/desktop without having to reset my video, and without having to troubleshoot connectivity issues - this isn’t it.

The sales representative knew her subject matter. We were able to select a 2-in-1 laptop that we used to replace an older laptop. In addition to the laptop, she was able to recommend a software plan for Microsoft products that allowed us to eliminate two separate plans, incorporating all plans into a multi-bundle plan. Finally, the purchase of peripherals was easy and they were all in stock.

I was looking for a new laptop for school because my current one pooped out on me. It was a very basic laptop that I bought in 2016 so it was definitely time for an upgrade. After looking around in store at the computers that Best Buy has to offer, I stumbled upon this one. I had never had a computer that could transform into a tablet but I immediately liked the concept. The computer can flip a complete 360 degrees which I absolutely love because with the smart pen that comes with it, you have the ability to write notes like you would in a paper notebook. When I’m in my down time, I can watch Netflix and YouTube videos with ease because the picture quality and sound quality are pretty nice. I can even play simple games, like Stardew Valley and Pokémon TCG, on it without worrying about too many complications or interferences. My only issue was that the bottom got pretty warm after extended playing of the games, but to be fair, I didn’t leave room for it to vent. Overall, this computer meets all of my needs and I would definitely recommend it.

    I love this computer, but...

This seemed to be a wonderful computer. I bought it December 7, 2019, and in just 2 1/2 weeks it would not boot up. However, Dell sent me a box to return it for repairs. And even with the holidays on the 25th of December and the 1st of January,I got my computer back in about eight days, including the time it took them to ship me the box to send it back to them. Now, it is absolutely wonderful. Dell had to replace a circuit board. Ultimately, I’m quite happy. In 2016, I bought a 13.3 inch touchscreen, all in one, solid-state drive computer from Dell also went dead within a month. However, the 2016 replacement is still working wonderfully. As a matter fact, I still could’ve used my 2016 computer but I just wanted a new one. The 2019 computer is the same size screen, but the computer is smaller than the 2016 model. I wanted to upgrade to the pro version of windows 10, but now Microsoft wants twice as much as it cost three years ago and Dell also wants $199 to upgrade it to Pro. That upgrade fee is an absolute rip-off. So in review, I like the computer, Dell serviced it quite rapidly, Billing for pro windows 10 upgrade for $199 is a rip off. $99 is also thievery. But I guess Microsoft feels a need to gouge us since folks are preferring pad to computers.

So glad I bought after Nov 1, cuz anyone that has Gold or Platinum Best Buy Card has till Jan.14 to try certain items!!....so I REALLY used EVERY feature! The 13" Black series is awesome as far as running many process & PC funtionality. Keyboard is great. Dell Connect is great!! ...BUT BATTERY...doing anything other than JUST surfing the net, it gets about 3 hrs b4 plugging in & runs VERY WARM charging & hot if simple surfing simultaneously! NO rear camera & not the greatest front cam if you need to take a pic, as far as shutter speed. Tho its decent for video-chat! Dell should have used entire screen for picture...there is near 3/4" bezel at bottom. Ended up taking back & getting Galaxy Tab S6.

Beautiful Screen and Build; Loud Fan

I loved nearly everything about this laptop. The screen is gorgeous and vibrant. The build quality is great. Unfortunately, under normal activity (e.g., searching the web or streaming) the fan would kick on and make an unusually loud fan noise. It wasn’t terribly loud, but loud enough to be distracting. For that reason alone I had to return it. By way of comparison I also have an X-1 Carbon of similar size and build quality that doesn’t have such an issue. Too bad, because I really loved everything else about the laptop!

great product! keyboard is highly responsive and quiet. 16gb/i7,8thgen/SSD cannot go wrong! very minor thing I would change is to have a more solid plastic around the stylus bezel and hinges. This is due since the rest of the built feels sturdy and such high quality, that the latter parts don't seem up to par.

    I LOVE this computer!

This is my one stop shop computer. I've been a mac fan for years and rather recently purchased a new MacBook... only to find out that a program that I need to use for one of my classes requires Microsoft. When I knew I needed to buy a non-mac, I wanted everything in one package and this thing is it for me. My mac has become my binge watching shows device and this Dell is my business center. It's super easy to get used to using. There are things I don't love about it, but those are mostly faults of Microsoft, rather than the device itself - neither Mac or PC is perfect. I carry this with me almost everywhere I go. I download ALL of my school work to it and have gotten apps to be able to write my notes directly into everything. The pen embedded in the case is so sweet! I'm a loser of all things - that definitely was the cherry on top for me.

Positives - great price for the specs. Bright screen compared to Lenovo Yoga series. Great weight. Fast startup with the SSD. Negatives - keyboard format with Page Up and Page Down so close to arrows sometimes causes mishit of Page Up or Page Down. Home and End buttons take some getting used to. Need to be careful because they are so close to the Insert and Delete buttons. High-demand graphics do sometimes cause screen to flicker off for about 5 seconds and then turn back on.

I really enjoy how easy it is for me to transport and use this laptop. The design is very sleek. It boots up very fast and runs efficiently. I appreciate the 2-in-1 feature, frequently using it to take notes. Microsoft Edge's notes ability is outstanding. I always open pdfs to do reading and it makes taking notes and highlighting much easier. The pen works fine and the storage space is very handy. Dell's YourPhone feature is very handy and lets me send texts from my computer if my cell phone is buried in my backpack. My only complaint is the short battery life of around 8 hours after being fully charged. I usually end up having to charge it at least once a day. Though it is a great work laptop (and extremely convenient for taking notes during lecture), it may not last a student from the start of classes to the end of late-night studying.

In January 2018 I purchased the Dell - XPS 2-in-1 13.3" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB Solid State Drive - Black, cost was $1430. What an excellent laptop. But unfortunately it met with an accident, went back to Best Buy to get teh same unit again but they no longer keep them so the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD + Optane - Black was the best alternative available, cost $965. This was an emergency replacement, Geek Squad wanted a week to copy over data, highly disappointing. The Inspiron comes with a high specification, facst start up, good screen clarity, and SSD memory but the price difference is clear, fan and heat output much noisier, speakers have a lot of clicking, etc. To be fair, a lot of computer for the price but if you have the option, definitely purchase the XPS.

      Terracethoughts,

We're sorry to hear that your new laptop is not everything that you hoped it would be. We'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer if it continues to make fan noise:

An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.

You may want to check your Product Support Page for new drivers or software that may help with the audio issues that you're experiencing: https://dell.to/2Ypue6C.

I have had this laptop for a couple weeks now and I can say that this was the perfect choice The screen is beautiful, bright, and crisp. The memory and storage size is great. The ssd packed in here is fast! Takes no time to boot up and get adobe apps running. The Stylus features are actually very useful if you are into content creation. Love this laptop!

Great Product super fast Optane SSD

I've been on the hunt for an older Laptop I5 I had been using since 2011! I had purchased a DELL Product from Costco last Holiday period, but ended up taking it back, sizing was not right and just did not work correct out of the box, plus no SSD. Fast forward to Summer 2019, I was in BB for Phone service and while I was waiting I found the laptop I had been seeking. By the way, I use a DELL product in my Engineering role, and its performance has been quite good IMO, better than the HP I had previously. This Laptop is super fast with Intel Optane 512G SSD. Boot up time is immediate. I should know, I am responsible for the Testing of Optane at Intel, I engineered the testing solutions for it, so this was an easy pick for me. The DELL Laptop size is also perfect for the Laptop desk I have in my home. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this Product.
