Very fast & great display
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer has been great so far. I just upgraded from a 5 year old Toshiba and this dell turns on, uploads, downloads & simply performs better. Only thing is that the battery life could be better. Best I've done so far is about 4 hours, w/no gaming, just surfing.

Great performance at a good price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this for a mix of work (Software Engineering) and games. It does both well. It plays Elite Dangerous reasonably well at 720p (on Ubuntu, even.) I have the 8GB version, and think I will upgrade to 16GB because I do occasionally run out of memory when I have a bunch of docker containers running and fire up a game while waiting for something to build. This is probably not a problem the average user will encounter though. This is a little heavier and thicker than my last laptop (Yoga 3 Pro) but the keyboard is much better, and the construction feels much more sturdy. I'm happy with the trade off. I'm running Ubuntu 19.04. I had some trouble getting this to work with Linux at first. It needs some grub parameters to get working. Here is my Grub2 command for anyone else who wants to use Linux: "quiet splash radeon.dpm=1 acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor amd_iommu=on ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 idle=nomwait" I should also mention, I bought this computer twice. The first one was an open box, and was defective. It locked up constantly. The second one works great.

Good for sale price but research touchscreen-pens
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the discounted price this was offered for, it was a good product. The AMD Ryzen 5 is said to be better than intel core i5, which sounds great on paper for AMD, which has been known to be the less-good-low-cost-processor-brand. Now I am no tech expert, but it runs well for my needs and I do not notice slow-downs. The 256 SSD is also fantastic. I have known SSD hard drives are good, of course, but always had the cheaper-larger-space hard drives until now. And let me tell you, this is so much quicker with the SSD. When it comes to the touchscreen, be warned, that only some of the 7000 models set ACTUALLY have active pen support, and this is SEPARATE from microsoft ink's capabilities. I didn't know what exact model mine was (now I know it is 7375) and bought a pen on a recommendation from a Best Buy rep (who had no idea what he was doing), that would not work due to basic hardware issues. So if you can, get a straight answer which model it is and do your research on what pens can and cannot work for it.

Perfect buy for high school teen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This pc has been a great buy for my teenage daughter. The portability is great for someone on the go and the speed allows her to complete her tasks and stay on task with her homework load. No doubt that she will use this pc for college as well and be able to keep up with her college workload.

Okay
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer runs well and I am happy with the performance. It does run hot. I wish the battery lasted longer but I have never had a laptop that did! The biggest thing that I dislike is that in my opinion the port for the battery charger is very fragile. It is very easy to break it. If you are going to set it on your desk and leave it you should be fine but if you use on the couch and from room to room and travel you are increasing the odds of it being bumped and bent and then you wont be able to charge it! Sorry Dell but that will be the first thing I will check next time I consider your product!

Posted .speed,
We're sorry to hear about the issues that your computer has been giving you. We'd recommend the following tips to help keep your computer running at a cooler temperature:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

If you'd like to find out how to extend the life of your computer's battery, you can read these tips: Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Decent Computer for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this computer is pretty nice for the price. My biggest complaint is the screen. It has a low refresh rate and it is not very bright. I have adjusted the brightness and contrast to what I feel is the best it can be. It's not very usable outdoors and if you have sensitive eyes it might not be the best choice. The weird thing is, you can tell it has potential. When you look at the desktop images or home screen images they look amazing. But all of the browsers etc. look super mediocre. Not sure if there is more to be done to fix this, but I haven't found it so far. It also does weird screen glitches where part of the screen will randomly turn to blocks of pixelated colors. It usually goes away if you scroll on the page or click to a different application. It doesn't get too hot and the battery life isn't bad. The keyboard is nice and the touch screen works well. Overall a pretty good value.

So far so good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this laptop for about a month now and I really like it. It’s fast, lightweight, compatible with 5G, and has good battery life. My only complaint and honestly the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it has a smaller screen than what I’m used to.

Compact and efficient
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased as a laptop for a college student to take to school. It has not been used much but so far it is proving to be a reliable device, not so big that it's hard to carry back and forth to class. Enough space and speed for what is needed.

Good laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this lsptop for its ease of use. Its lightweight and not too big and bulky. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the battery seems to drain pretty quickly and using it while plugged in gets the laptop and charger pretty hot.

Great mid-range laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my oldest stepson when his low end Windows laptop became so slow it was inhibiting his school work. I was impressed with the speed and ease it performed the setup tasks. installation of programs, including the download speeds, exceeded my expectation for a laptop at this price point. So far I have no complaints. He loves it and it has handled every task he has thrown at it so far.

Basic and Economical
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a basic, economical, multifunctional device. I like that you can use it as a touchscreen tablet as well as a laptop. However, don't expect miracles from a laptop with these features. My daughter needed to use Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and it fried the memory and it became a brick... just after the warranty expired. After doubling the memory DIY with a new set of RAM, it's up and running again, albeit $70 later. But, if you are simply surfing, checking email, using Office products, it is perfectly fine.

Very, very nice student laptop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were shopping last minute for a new laptop for a college student. Found this model on sale for 599 with the AMD chips - a hundred bucks less than pretty much the same specs with Intel chips. Nice machine. Touchscreen, i5 equivalent processor, 8gb of ram which it says is upgradable, but I haven't tried yet, HDMI out, plenty of ports and the 2 in 1 feature is actually getting some use at school - I was thinking it'd be more of a gimmic. Best part of the whole purchase was the guy who helped at the Dedham, MA store. He asked if my kid was a student and had him enroll on one of the machines that were setup in the store and we got another 100.00 off, and a coupon for 20 bucks off a microwave, all of which made what was already a really good price on a laptop into an insane deal especially considering the last-minute nature of the whole process - I'd expected to pay through the nose. Final price was 499 and the customer support we got from the sales rep in the store was great. Overall awesome experience and the kid loves the laptop. BTW, if you're sending a student off to school with one of these, it has the newer Noble lock slot instead of the usual Kensington style lock slot, so if you're shopping for a locking cable or security stuff be aware of that while you're shopping.

Great laptop with some limitations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn’t recognize its own ac adapter as an OEM part, and gives me that error message every time upon reboot. The touch screen is nice, but sometimes it freezes and the display goes askew if you try to zoom in on a document. The video card was not compatible with regular browser, which resulted in a green screen whenever I selected Full Screen. It wouldn’t work in Edge, Chrome or Firefox. It did work in IE. I figured out by searching online how to fix it. Not sure why this wasn’t a default setting for a Dell. In any case, it’s lightweight, thin, good for travel. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it. I mostly just use it to do grad school homework, GIS, and an occasional movie. It suits my purposes.

Great first laptop purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am have been very pleased with my first laptop purchase. I ultimately decided on the Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 13in laptop. Dell makes great computers, and so far I have been pleased. My only dissatisfaction with this laptop has been with the battery. Maybe I am not aware that most laptops batteries length of charge are short lived, but my experience with this so far has seemed to have the battery die fast. I have noticed that less than 4 hours from full charge to battery needs to be plugged in to avoid it dieing completely. Other than the battery, I have been happy with my purchase.

Blue screen within 4 days
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The overall computer is great, I truly liked it from the Hd touch screen to the black lit keyboard, unfortunately by the 4th day after all updates I got the blue screen and again less than a week after my purchase. The battery life was ok not the best but wasn't a deal breaker - still my confidence after the blue screen sent me to buy a MacBook Pro which I'm very happy with.

Great laptop for my college student!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the size, weight, speed and features. The only complaint so far (and the reason for only 3 stars) was after we went through the quick start the computer downloaded several Microsoft updates. Then after the updates the computer kept restarting itself, non-stop. The Geek Squad offered zero help (which has been their norm lately), but we found a website online that walked us through the fix. All has been great since that time.

Great for college student
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for my brother who is in his first year of college. It's perfect for a student who needs something light, portable, versatile, and easy to use. He's studying computer science so I wanted to steer away from Apple and give him something he can program to fit his needs. He loves it and uses it daily.

Great loptop for all arounf use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to best buy looking for something that was all round. The service I had been dealing with on an HP computer that messed up during a windows 10 update and HP promised they could fix it after running all the hard dive test ad didn't fix it. I wanted something for a reasonable price but had enough storage and memory that I could use for work and creating crafts on my cricut. As the HP I spent over 1K hardly used it had nothing stored on it and t now a paper weight. I told the guys helping me what I wanted and even though I was looking at more the 200-300 dollar range the listened to what I was going to use it for and suggest something only a few hundred dollars more but something I would be happy with. It has been just that and I have been able to download what I needed to connect to the network at work as well as my craft project's AND Surfing the web. It was just what I needed. But I am said to say it has been damaged and I cant find what warranty covers any where guess Ill have to find time too stop by a store.
