This is the 2nd laptop I have bought from Best But, the exact same one. No problems with the first one and no problems with this one.

I was given this computer as a gift for starting graduate school. I LOVED this computer so much for the first 4 months. I really enjoyed flipping it into a tablet to take notes and review power points and articles while I studied.
Around month 5 I noticed there was a crack in one of the hinges and the screen was not straight. The hinge was no longer rotating as needed when I opened it, as if it were getting stuck and I could no longer flip it into a tablet without a huge cracking sound. Within a few days there was a huge crack in the hinge and later that month a piece of a gear came out from the hinge. My parents saved up for months just to buy me this computer, so I was taking very good care of it. I know I never dropped it, I was just using it for the purpose it was designed. I took it to a local repair shop and they explained to me that because the gears were made of plastic (thanks Dell) they were susceptible to breakage. They suggested I call Dell Support and try to get it fixed.
So I called Dell Support and they were the super unhelpful. The guy on the phone told me at a minimum to fix the hinge I would have to pay $300. For something that was their fault. The hinge broke because I was using it for the purposes it was designed for- tablet and laptop. But because their design team had not found an issue with the hinge, they would not cover the cost.
For the past four months I have had to hold the hinge with one hand so that the screen can open properly, and I can no longer use it in tablet mode. Now at month 8, the battery life is trash and only lasts about an hour when FULLY charged.
Needless to say, I am not only very dissappointed in the design, but the dell support customer service made my entire experience so much worse. I have only owned this computer for 8 months and I wish my parents had purchased a different computer.
If you are looking for a good computer, this is not it.

AmyT,
We are very sorry to hear about this experience that you have had with your new 2-in-1 computer. This is not the experience that we want any of our customers to have. We will let our quality team know about the experience that you have had with the hinges on your computer.
If you'd like to try to extend the battery life on your computer, here are some tips:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon. 2. On the options list, click Power Options. 3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver. b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results. Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs. c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off. d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage. f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Hi Elle,
We're sorry to hear about the issues with your Dell laptop. We'd recommend running Windows Performance Troubleshooter to see what may be slowing down your computer:
1. Close all open windows. 2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard. 3. Click Control Panel. 4. Click System and Security. 5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems. 6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process. 8. Restart the PC.
