This is an awesome entry level laptop. It comes preloaded with Microsoft's newest operating system which is Windows 11. Once I connected to my home internet, I downloaded and installed the necessary Microsoft updates without any problems. This is a really decent laptop that serves my purposes well. I use it for surfing the internet, checking emails and some photo editing. The computer is fast and handles my particular multitasking easily. Lacking from this computer is a DVD/CD drive. Therefore, you will have to download all of your music files and or games. The model has a very decent and responsive keyboard. I felt at home with the trackpad which is of good size, and is also excellent with its functionality. Boot-up time is fast, as this product has a solid-state drive. The launching and opening of programs literally happens in a blink of an eye as compared to SATA drives. Battery life was ok but not stellar as compared to my other laptops in my home. This product will run games fairly well as long as I was not utilizing extreme game settings. The screen is “touch” and functions well. Color display is very nice with vibrant colors. It also has a webcam which incidentally worked well. All in all, I am very happy with this Dell laptop. It runs and the performance is good. It is not a high end product, but for my intents and purposes did the job and did it well. I am pleased to highly recommend this product.

I needed a computer with a faster processor than my previous Dell model with a Celeron processor. Whenever I would run Zoom or have a few tabs open my whole system would slow down. It was frustrating, obviously. I was looking for a system that would allow me to function personally and professionally without having to think about how slow things were going to get. So far, a week in, I am thrilled with the switch. It’s miles faster in every way. I have a confidence I haven’t felt in ages with regards to what I can do and how fast I can do it. Pros: The speed, of course. The Ryzen 5 processor is incredibly efficient. The quality of the speakers is excellent as well. Very crisp and clear images and colors. The display is top notch. It’s a lightweight and quiet machine that would make traveling a breeze. The battery lasts for hours. Cons: The touchpad is not my favorite. This model is smaller than what I’m used to at 14 inches so the buttons are closer together and the screen is smaller than my previous model that was 15.6. This makes it harder to type and although I have a larger monitor at home, when I travel I’d prefer to have a bigger screen.

I Think This 2 in 1 Laptop Will Do the Job

Unpacking Unit was delivered in a single rectangular cardboard box and not as a box within a box. Laptop was secured within the box with two corrugated top and bottom “caps” holding the unit a small distance from any side wall of the box. A smaller rectangular box along the bottom inside contained the charger and associated power cord. Packaging was minimal and seemed to be effective as well as environmentally responsible. Directions consisted of a single folded sheet with illustrations and minimal labeling and words, but most importantly contained a QR code that takes you to the complete 92-page manual, all in English. Exterior Observations This is my 3rd Dell Inspiron Laptop. The other two are 15-inch models. The oldest had an Intel 7th generation i5 processor and was suffering from dementia and was near death, so I replaced it with a new one featuring a SSD hard drive and i7 processor two years ago. (Why does time go by so fast!?). It has been a happy marriage with the last one working hard every day as a real estate tool. Just like with a new phone, this new Inspiron 14 has fewer ports than the previous laptop. While there are two USB-C Gen 2 ports on the left side of the new laptop, with an adjacent HDMI port, one of the USB-C inputs serves as the power supply connection as well. The Inspiron 15 had a dedicated charge port. While certainly not a deal breaker, it makes me wonder why. The right side has a USB Gen 1 input which will be convenient for a wireless mouse. I personally am not a “touch pad” fan. That said, I am pleased there is that traditional connection point. On either side of that USB port there is a headphone/headset jack input, and a full-size SD card slot. The case itself feels relatively substantial with a combination of aluminum and plastic. It is a Lavender Blue color, which is attractive and not gaudy at all. Interior Observations Once open, there is a privacy shutter to cover the camera when not in use. Very handy – you never have to worry about what you are or are not wearing. The power button doubles as a finger print reader. I did not set it up as such since this laptop will be shared with my wife and my finger print is not always reliable. Once when getting a new job that required finger printing, they sent me home with hand lotion and told me to come back in a week and try to get finger printed again. The stigma remains. There are speakers on either side as well as left and right microphones next to the camera and camera status light. Hinged screen allows the computer to be used in laptop, tablet, stand, and tent modes. Screen can be used in a portrait view when in the tablet mode. The keyboard is sized about the same as my older Inspiron 15 laptop – surprisingly the new Inspiron 14 keys are just a little wider across. (The dedicated numeric set of keys of course is deleted on the 14” model.) Keyboard on both are backlit, but the 14” model has black keys vs the silver keys on the older 15”, which makes the letter labels much more visible in any lighting situation – a plus for the 14”. Performance I believe the AMD Ryzen 5 to be somewhat comparable to the Intel i5 processor chip. In the past I have had a Dell with the i5 processor and found it to be fine for most tasks. Although this is my first AMD processor, I am confident the same will be true with it. A key plus for this laptop is the 512GB SSD. I have found the Solid-State Drives to be much faster and durable than the lower cost options. Sure, a 1TB SSD would be better, but I use a couple of external hard drives to store and doubly back up important data, music, and photos. The laptop of course comes with Windows 11 – which I have not upgraded to on my older Inspiron 15 from Windows 10, but there should not be much of a learning curve. I linked the Microsoft account to my phone and discovered that I would not have to buy a separate license for my Microsoft Office Suite or try to transfer a copy of really old office software from a near brick old laptop since I had Microsoft Office 2019 on my two year old Inspiron 15 already. What a relief! I checked out a Netflix Video on the new laptop. Display and sound were ok. If I want the best viewing experience, I will fire up the surround sound on my 60” LED. You should not expect to have the same level of quality from your laptop or phone. Sometimes size and sound matter. As a Real Estate agent, I am dead without a reliable laptop. I think this laptop will be a perfect backup for my two-year-old Inspiron 15, as well as being perfect for my wife’s daily needs. I believe we will both be happy with it.

It has ben support (PN5122W is the pen)

This laptop hits every requirement I have for a everything you need laptop for everyone except the hardcore gamer. This laptop can play games. I even got Horizon 5 to work on it in Low mode, but it gave me a ton of warning on memory. But casual gaming it works pretty well. So with that out of the way this is an awesome laptop for everyone else. The 2 in 1 design for me is the most adaptable for doing what you need, yes, it’s not as slim as a tablet but you can have tablet like experience when you want. I didn’t realize at first was that the screen is actually compatible with a pen, none of mine were compatible so I had to figure out which one was compatible and order, which Dell doesn’t exactly make easy, it doesn’t even say that this model is compatible with the pen, I just made a guess that if a 7430 is a 7435 would be as well, but all that to say that if you want to order Dells active stylus the one that I know works is PN5122W (you can also use that to search for non-Dell compatible pens). If you are old school and you just like to write using one note to take notes is really nice, but more than that, if you are into the math and sciences taking notes in class can be a pain on a computer as there is a need to draw free hand graphs a lot. The pen makes note taking for those types of classes a breeze. For me the pen is extremely useful for remotely whiteboarding, my work computer doesn’t support a pen or touch screen so I will use VM Horizon to get to my virtual desktop at work for meetings just so I can use the pen (VM Horizon also has full pen support now besides the pen strokes aren’t smoothed out like on this computer). All that to say the pen brings this from an okay laptop top to an absolute top contender as a recommendation for most people that need a good all-purpose laptop on a budget that can do most anything. Speaking of doing most anything I also ran AutoCAD LT, SQL Server, DrawboardPDF, mySQL server, Word, Excel, MathCAD, python IDE, and Visual Studio community with no issues. So, I can easily say this will work for all but the most intensive engineering programs. Also, I love how Windows now lets you install and run Linux subsystems and those work fantastically on this computer as well. Now for the laptop itself. The port density for this thin of a laptop is pretty good, two USB C (either of which work as the charging port), full SD card, HDMI, and USB A (normal USB port if you aren’t familiar with USB terminology). The two things that could be better is that I would have loved for a USB C to be on each side instead of right next to each other and the full SD card slot I wish was a micro-SD card slot as now I have to find my micro to full SD card when I want to pull footage from my drone. I appreciate the USB A port, I know that is old school at this point and quite a bit of my stuff is now USB C but I still need it every once in a while and hate trying to find an adapter. The USB C ports support video and charging at the same time so if you get a docking station that has thru power it will work great. I have used a multitude of different USB C chargers on this down to 30W and the 30W one gives a warning that it can’t charge faster than the power is being used which makes sense, but it is nice to be able to use my phone charger in a pinch to get a little extra time on it if I happen to forget to bring the laptop charger. The speakers are decent, I would say more than decent compared to most laptops but I still prefer headphones to speakers. The finger print sensor is nice but there is no face log in so if that is important to you keep that in mind. I prefer the finger print reader and it is on the power button and it isn’t on the side of the device which I really appreciate. Lastly, the keyboard is extremely nice to type on. It has satisfying travel and overall just feels nice. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the performance of this laptop and could easily recommend it to anyone that needs a computer for work, school, or just to get stuff done on including entertainment (prime video and all that work and look great on it).

Needed a basic laptop for office use. This is a reasonable price and had the required operating system needed for office use. Works great for what I need. Microsoft Office, Teams calls, internet access, basic apps and some minor graphic design. I love the touchscreen option, it’s light and small enough to carry around. I’m pleased with my purchase. I’ve had it for about a month.

Pros: Nice screen Lots of ports Good size Very pretty color Backlit keyboard 2 in 1 hinge Cons: Odd port placement Full SD slot instead of micro (matter of personal preference) Dim keyboard backlight This Dell Inspiron is a great productivity device. It has more than enough power to tackle web surfing, word processing, video calls, and most other tasks that you might want to throw at it. It has a good assortment of ports with both older USB type-A and newer USB type-C ports. The type C ports are placed a little oddly as they're all on the left side of the device. I would have preferred a more even balance along the left and right sides. This is a minor issue though. I'm thrilled that this device has an SD slot, but I'm a little dismayed that it's full SD. I'm the type of person to drop in a micro-SD card for extra storage and never remove it. For me, a smaller card with a lower profile is welcome. Other use cases may welcome the presence of a full size slot though. The screen is just the right size to feel big without feeling too big. Colors are nice and saturated. The entire device is a pretty blue color. It's vivid enough to be eye-catching without being obnoxious. The keyboard is backlit (a very welcome addition), but the keyboard backlighting doesn't feel terribly bright at its highest setting. It's perfectly adequate though. The 2 in 1 hinge feels strong and robust, but it can be a little finicky to get it positioned "just right." This is a solid laptop for productivity with lots of great features. I strongly recommend it for students and professionals.
