Very Disappointing Service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spent 20 minutes with Ashlie the day I picked up my laptop and received one piece of paper, basically a receipt for $1,200. Upon beginning the process of setting the computer up, it became obvious there were many changes to deal with. After vacation and sickness, I called Best Buy Geeks on 7-13-23 9 times, left messages and haven't heard from anyone to date.

Great Features and Value With Flexibility
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before this Dell 2-in-1 computer, I had another brand's 2-in-1 that was about three years old. That system had a 10th gen Intel i7 with integrated graphics, 12GB RAM and 512 GB SSD, along with a 13" OLED screen. It was a great system, but for what I was using it for, it was a bit too slow, especially for video processing, and the SSD was getting full. However, the screen was nothing short of amazing. This Dell moved me up to Intel's 13th gen i7 with 10 cores, also with integrated graphics. 16 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and 2 thunderbolt 4.0 / USB-C ports (data & charging) also were upgrades, but I did have some concern about the 14" WUXGA LED screen, at just 250 nits (my previous system's OLED is 600 nits). There is also a card reader, a full-size HDMI port, a standard USB port, and a headphone jack. Having charging USB-C ports is nice because you can link the system with a docking station. Enough with the specs, let me talk about how the system performs! I'll start with overall design. The case feels quite solid and there is minimal screen flex when opening the lid. The drop hinges allow the keyboard to be slightly raised when used as a laptop, but the curved shape of the case does not allow the system to look as sleek as others with sharp-edged cases when in tablet mode. However, the system still does fold perfectly in half. The keyboard has full-sized keys (with backlighting and great haptics), but no number pad. I use a USB number pad for data entry with this system. The overall weight of the system plus the power brick is 4 lb, 2 oz, which is not horrible, but is nearly 1 lb heavier than my previous 2-in-1. Indoors, I am able to keep the screen at about 60% brightness, and visibility is good. The screen itself is crisp and evenly backlit. The built-in cover for the excellent camera is a nice plus, and the system overall is reasonably quiet and does not run hot. File speed transfers were impressive. Using a Samsung T7 external SSD in the USB/C ports, I was able to achieve 450 Mbps from the drive to the system and then 700 Mbps from the system back to the drive. Very fast! Battery life is good--I was able to get about 6-7 hours of computing before it needed to be plugged in. I do use the Windows Subsystem for Android to play some games. Performance is very good, but it does drain the battery a bit faster--it does on my other systems, too. I do not play any high-intensity games. Video encoding was equally impressive. Taking a 2-hour DVD quality video file and converting it to mp4, Handbrake was able to achieve that in just under 10 minutes (my previous 2-in-1 took nearly 30 minutes), and a similar BluRay video file finished in under 40 minutes (compared to about 70 minutes). I keep up on tech quite closely, and since Intel's 11th generation of chips, the integrated graphics have been much improved. There were smaller steps forward with the 12th and 13th gen chipsets, but Intel is finally on par or better than AMD with this latest generation of chipsets. Let's talk a little more about the screen. In past vintages of this system, there were a lot of complaints about the screen not being bright enough. As I stated before, indoors, 60% brightness was plenty for me to work with the system well. I am writing this review sitting outside on my deck. It is a sunny morning and while I'm not in direct sunlight, it is bright out and I can see the display just fine with the brightness turned up to about 80%. The touch screen has a good response--I use it mostly for games and reading eBooks and eMagazines through the Libby app. The text and graphics for the books and magazines is very good and easy to read. Do I like my OLED screen better--yes, but there is nothing to complain about with this display--especially at this price point. This is probably the largest system I would want for a 2-in-1. Portability is a big deal for me, and this system is on the cusp of being too large and heavy to serve well as a 2-in-1. But I still find it very acceptable. I carry the system around in a backpack on my motorcycle and use it when travelling for work. The nice thing is that during takeoff and landing, the airlines don't make you power down the system when you are using it in 2-in-1 mode. Overall, this Dell 2-in-1 is a good performer and a really nice value. The latest gen i7 chipset, 16 GB RAM, large (and fast) 1 TB SSD, and 2-in-1 flexibility make the system very responsive and nice to use--especially if you don't want to carry around two devices (a tablet and a computer). While ideally I would have desired an OLED screen with all the other great features of this system, I know that is not possible in the price point of this system. I would easily recommend this Dell to someone looking for a great value in a very capable and flexible system.

Great light use portable laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron lineup has been a solid mid-range option for the past few years. Now thanks to falling hardware prices and demand we are seeing more value in this segment of the market. The competition between AMD and Intel has also been very healthy for the market. This spec comes with 16gb of 4800mhz LPDDR5 memory, 1TB SSD (m.2 PCIe for superior speed), and a 10 core/12 thread 13th gen processor. With that said this processor only has 2 performance cores/4 threads, and 8 efficiency cores so its far from the most powerful laptop chip available but perfect for daily productivity tasks like emails, web browsing, and office applications. Its focus is more on power efficiency as it is only drawing 15w max under most circumstances, but will pull upto 55w while turboing. This processor can turbo up to 5ghz Battery size is on the smaller side at only 54Wh, but under the use case described above I experienced around 6hrs of battery life with the screen brightness turned up almost to maximum. Connnectivity is pretty good on this laptop as well, they provide you with two thunderbolt 4.0 ports which can provide massive bandwidth, fast charging (this laptop charges at 65w), and even act as a display output. They also provided you with a HDMI 1.4port, a single USB 3.2 port, and a SD card reader. This combination is quite nice as in most circumstances you can avoid using a dongle for connectivity depending on how many accessories you utilize on a daily basis, but will also support multi monitor set-ups if you have that type of configuration in your office. Built in Wi-Fi 6E provides the best wireless connectivity possible currently, fairly future proof as most places have not updated accesspoints to this new standard yet. The wifi of course is backwards compatible with the previous wifi 5 standard. I found the display and size of this laptop overall to be just about perfect for something you are actually going to use on the go. This is a touchscreen display which means it has a GLOSSY finish and is not going to be ideal in extremely bright locations like if you wanted to work outside on a sunny day. Pumping the display up to maximum brightness will help but of course negatively impact your overall battery life. This is a 16:10 display which I like a lot. Doesn't sound like a big deviation from the traditional 16:9 aspect but the extra space is welcomed. This is a effectively a 1080P monitor but because of the aspect ratio the resolution is 1920x1200. The screen also has an integrated webcam and the 14" size makes this laptop overall a great portable unit. My only complaint, unfortunately it's a consistent complaint with Dell products, is all the bloatware that comes on this laptop. They of course have their dozen different applications that are supposed to "help" you maintain your PC but ultimately just negatively impacts your performance and battery life. They also include a mcafee subscription which I also consider junk bloatware and ultimately a nuisance. The first thing I do for myself or any of my customers with a Dell system is do a fresh start within windows to rid it of all this junk. Great laptop for light productivity tasks, your average college student, or your grandma. If you are using more heavy handed programs like any CAD/CAM or Adobe Premier Pro you should be looking at something more powerful.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I were to rate a product I would start by having it in my hands. Unfortunately, I have tried by all means to work with Best Buy and Fedex to solve the issue of not receiving my package. They keep showing a picture of a package in the street as an excuse to not refund or re-send my laptop. My overall rating is less than poor as there is nothing to review, which might have been higher if I had received my laptop. I'm pretty sure I will never order online anything from Best Buy as they also have zero consideration with their consumers, and only lie to you as means to make you loose time and money.
