I've had this machine for about a month now, and I am pretty happy with it. I got it with a deep discount as an open-box item. It does not have the latest and greatest processor, but the CPU is actually the least important part of the whole package. What it does have is a very nice 15" 4K touch screen that is pen-capable, 16GB of RAM ( for total overkill, 8 would be enough, ) a 512GB SSD that is not going to feel cramped immediately like a 256 would, and a big 42Wh battery. And the processor is certainly fast enough, they're all overkill nowadays unless you are a heavy-duty power user, which I am not.
The exterior case is aluminum, nicely finished in gray. The overal design is thin and light, under 5 pounds, but not flimsy-feeling. My old 17" MacBook seems massive in comparison. The brightly-backlit keyboard has a nice feel to it, much better than the new Macs. There is no number pad, I learned to live without that a long time ago. The trackpad is also smooth and big, with a very nice feel. The screen bezel is about as narrow as it could be, but still has the camera at the top, where it belongs. There is no fingerprint reader, which I can live without.
The ports on this machine are very sensible - they are for today, not pie-in-the-sky tomorrow that may never happen. The machine has 3 USB 3.0 ports, a full-sized HDMI port, 1/8" headphone jack, and full-sized SD card reader, for all the devices you have NOW. It also has one USB-C port, but no Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is the pie-in-the-sky I just mentioned. Currently, there are basically NO native Thunderbolt devices except some expensive adapters and docks. There may NEVER be any native Thunderbolt devices, my guess is that Thunderbolt is going to be the latest in a long line of abandoned Apple/Intel connectors that were all promise and no delivery. The USB-C port has a better chance of ever being useful. There is no wired ethernet port or CD drive, both are amost obsolete and would not fit.
The hinges on this machine allow the screen to be flipped all the way around, so you can use it as a big tablet. That in itself is hardly useful, but the screen has a full digitizer built in, which means it supports an active stylus. Newer models include Dell's own stylus, this one didn't so I got a Bamboo. That turns the screen into a big scratch/sketch pad. Writing on it is almost as natural as paper, and for art use, you have everything from virtual charcoal to airbrush, even with just Windows built-in Paint program. Amazingly cool, I would not buy a new laptop that did not have this capability ( Bye bye, Apple! ) I even got a little keyboard app that lets you play piano on the screen, albeit clumsily. For just general use, I find the 4K screen to be very sharp and contrasty. I do wish it was non-reflective, but that particular feature seems to have fallen out of fashion right now.
Sound is borderline. The downward-firing speakers are easily muffled, and volume is only adequate in a quiet environment. Who really expects a laptop to have music-quality sound anyway? Bluetooth speakers and headphones are prevalent nowadays, and make the computer's internal speakers pretty much irrelevant. The sound did not even enter into my purchasing decision, the cheapest external speaker is going to blow away the best internal ones.
The charger is standard Dell, with a barrel connector. I got two extras, so I can leave them where I usually use the machine, and not have to constantly pull them out and take them with me. I haven't really tested the battery life yet, but it is good enough. My one complaint is that the fan noise seems excessive, but after letting a Dell support rep do some remote tinkering with it, that seems to be better. This level of support far exceeded anything I expected.
One thing I like about Dell is that they publish the service manual right on the website, along with all the drivers and updates you might ever need. I have popped the bottom cover off the machine, and I like what I see: easily replaceable battery, RAM, Wifi card, etc. Compare that to the new Macs - everything soldered/glued in place. The internal framing on the Dell is plastic, what I would expect at this price point. Get a good bag to tote the machine around in, it will last much longer.
I wish I could say Windows is much better since I left the PC world 8 years ago, but it really isn't. Windows 10 looks different, but it seems all the old issues are still there, Microsoft has just papered over them better. Oh well, not much choice in the matter, the world runs on Windows. A new machine like this would be wasted on Linux.
In terms of accessories, I found that Windows 10 completely bricked my old LaserJet* and two GPS units. Fortuantely, replacements are very inexpensive nowadays. I got an inexpensive USB3 hub with three USB ports and one ethernet, to add that capability back. I also got an external DVD drive, which is occasionally useful, but not worth lugging around everywhere. Finally, don't forget an external backup drive. Backup is one area where Windows has improved; it's not TimeMachine, but it is useable.
* Actually, it is HP who refuses to supply updated drivers. That's why I don't buy HP any more.
In PCs, I have always been a Dell buyer, and with this machine, I will remain one.

Graphics are working with my games well. The CPU (I7) has enough power to do anything I need to do. That, with its 16 GB of memory allows me to run multiple virtual computers on the machine with great performance. My only con is that I would have liked it to have had a second disk or a 1 terrabyte SSD instead of the 512,

Excellent laptop. Used for DJ'ing...home office etc..lightweight and durable. Only con is battery life not the greatest but can't complain that much. 4k screen is incredibly crystal clear. Windows 10 on this machine runs great. Wish this model came with a side numeric key pad.

This is the third Dell Inspiron I owned in the last 10 years and it is the best. I like the 4K display, just like the Retina display MacBook Pro has. With 512 GB SSD, it is fast. No heat problem. Fan’s noise is not noticeable.

I'm an IT Professional and have worked with computers and laptops for 20+ years. I bought this PC to replace my $2300.00 2015 MacBook Pro as I needed a PC and didn't want to use a Virtual Machine on MAC. This PC is actually faster, and the graphics are just as good or better. I did a lot of research on-line and this PC should be getting better reviews. If you're a super-heavy high FPS Gamer then maybe you'd want something different but Gamers know what they're looking for. Anyone else, there's nothing I've noticed that's slowing this down. The only thing I have noticed and agree with some reviews is the Wireless Connectivity and Speed seems to get a little shaky when I'm trying to project my PC to my wireless TV. I've got a Gb Orbi Router System so it's not a wireless network capacity issue. Wireless is great most of the time, I just have noticed some glitches that I'm keeping my eye on.

This is a very good laptop. I have several laptops I use for work and this one was a steal at $1000. Great 4K screen, keyboard is good and back-lit. With the storage of 512 and 16 gig of ram, again, cant beat it for the price. Touchpad not as smooth as higher end but stable and easy to use. I am getting 5 to 6 hours battery life but I tend to run the screen brighter than most due to poor vision. And of course with 4K, it eats up the battery life as well. I have not run a looped video test on it yet but plan to do it this week after which I will add to post. no problems with the machine have had it about 2 weeks. It's not exactly light but for a 15 inch not bad. It also recharged pretty fast as well.

It is really powerful. The screen is 4k - amazing. It has a face recognition for unlocking. This feature makes login extremely simple.
The only one weakness - not too long battery life.

I have been using Dell computers for approximately 10 years; I like their design as well as their computing power. This purchase was no exception to my Dell experiences. No other moving parts (i.e. hard drive; optical drive). 16 GB of RAM allows me to work effortlessly in my programs (e.g. Photoshop; Reason).

Performance and style blend well. All aluminum chassis, smooth feel. Display almost at edge of bezel. Comes with Win10 Home edition. If you owne a product key to Win7pro, you can update to Win10pro for free. Just a bit noisy from internal fan. Overall a solid laptop.

An amazing laptop especially if you get it with a discount. The 4K screen is unbelievable and the i7 processor does great. Face ID is really great for unlocking your laptop. Overall it’s a great laptop, however the two short falls it does have consist of battery life (which can be drained by the processor and screen very quickly) and the fact that it’s dedicated gpu only has 2GB of VRAM.

I made the mistake of allowing the Geek Squad to "set-up" my new Dell Inspirion laptop. User names were set wrong and Webroot and other hazardous software was loaded causing intermittent internet connectivity issues and problems in registry.Contacted Dell support to resolve. Otherwise this laptop is great. Starts up quickly. I did notice an issue with the display adapters. Nvidia adapter did not seem to want to take the reigns on web browsing an the Intel adapter was not able to handle work load in some instances. You may need to tweak with your graphics settings. Disabling the Intel adapter will cause the laptop to burn battery and run hot using Nvdia graphics card solely. This plus Slightly heavy and No numeric keypad are the only downsides revealed thus far

I picked this up as an "open-box" item for $650.00. It was originally $1,119.00 (and $1,400+ directly from Dell). I needed a mid-level laptop for one of my employees but found this "near" high-end laptop too good to pass up.
This laptop does everything that a business person would need for normal day-to-day computing activities. Better yet, it is fast enough to handle more complex activities such as photo editing and gaming due to the Nvidia 940 MX gpu. 16 gb of RAM and a 512 gb SSD are big pluses....and fairly easily upgraded. It also has the current gen. i7-8550U processor.
The only drawback that I can think of is the weight of the laptop. It is not an ultra-light but is still easily able to be lugged around. The high build quality undoubtedly adds to the weight but that is a fair trade-off. This may not be quite up to the standards of the Dell XPS series but it is awfully close! If you can get one on sale or as an open-box, buy it! Even at the regular price, it's a good choice, not just a "killer" deal!

Purchased an Inspiron 15" 7000 and could not be happier with its features and performance!!
So far this system has met all of my expectations with high marks. The 4K UHD screen is exceptional, the 16GB RAM is super fast, and the 512GB SSD hard drive provides more than enough storage for my needs

Bought this system for my daughter three months ago, who is not a computer person. It's had no problems at all, done everything she needs it to do and more, and for a good price. Has performance to spare so it will remain viable for years. And the price was great!

Buried my less than 3 Yr old HP M6 which overheated on a dual-fan cooling pad and burned itself out. Replaced the HP with this Dell i7573 2-in-1. Came with a 512GB SSD (Solid State Drive). Having previous negative experiences with standard Hard Drives and comparatively good experiences with SSD’s, I wouldn’t gamble my time & money on a standard Hard Drive again. I knew the 512 GB SSD in this Dell would not provide sufficient memory for all my files so I replaced it with a 1TB SSD. NOTE: Anyone replacing the SSD MUST only use SSD “Form” M.2 card, AND not all M.2 drives will fit the space provided. I ended up using a WD Blue SSD. NOTE2; There is insufficient space for a 2nd SSD in Best Buy’s Dell i7573. This Dell using a SSD is very quiet, boots immediately, is very responsive and operates without undue heat!! Love Backlit keyboards. Haven’t had it long but so far am quite satisfied DESPITE THE FACT IT HAS NO NUMERIC KEYPAD OR OPTICAL CD/DVD DRIVE! I don’t understand the illogic behind deleting the numeric keypad. I am forced to surmise PC designers must be using the 1-Finger on each hand key typing (hunt & peck) method I used when I was 5 years old…PC designers need to grow up I guess! NOTE: To make matters worse, there is a noticeable lack of available USB ported Numeric Keypads available on the market. All-in-all, other than these 2 exceptions, I haven’t found any reason to not recommend this model but might well recommend an upgrade to their supplied SSD.

Was looking for a versatile laptop/tablet that had a UHD display and other specs that should hold up for a while and found this. So far, so good. Dell seems to have loaded it light with their proprietary software (maybe that's their new angle) and the combo of the i7, SSD, and RAM handle Windows 10 superbly. Probably a little too heavy for an office environment where someone is carrying it around all day, unless you workout or want to workout. But overall, a great computer.
