    Decent computer for the price

I bought this computer after my HP Pavilion's hard drive unexpectedly crashed. I'm a student, so one of those $1,000+ laptops are out of my price range especially on short notice. Even just before Black Friday I was able to get a BB Gold card in 1 day and finance it for $500 over 18 months, paying the rest out of pocket and debit card. I like some of the features it came with, though I can't imagine using Cortana's voice recognition in a public space like Starbucks (hey cortana… Hey Cortana... HEY CORTANA!) but it's easy to use either by touch pad or touch screen though I'd recommend getting at least a cheap stylus pen; staring at fingerprint smudges and not having a proper cleaner gets annoying fast. Something I don't like is the McAfee pre-installed. You get Webroot free for 3 months, at the same time you're getting pop-ups that your machine is unprotected with no firewall as if Windows Defender has nothing to do with security or firewalls. Speaking of security, I like the options Windows Hello gives you besides the classic password log-in: PIN code, facial recognition through the camera, and this model has a biometric fingerprint reader built into the power button. Sounds fantastic right? Just over a week after buying it, the fingerprint reader malfunctions and stops working. Like a snap, one of the main security features - built into the laptop... is gone. After some research, I've found the fingerprint reader device is by some company named Goodix. Goodix biometric readers have had malfunctions on other computers from other manufacturers as well; either some problem with the drivers or even Windows Update itself... something to do with the Springtime Update that has caused so many problems, no cure-all fixit exists even after several months (there are still support forum entries with people waiting for answers or answers that do not help such as re-installing Windows). I've made my own support ticket, but as I'm still within the 14-day return window, I'm seriously considering returning this otherwise great computer. If one feature malfunctions within 2 weeks, brand new, fresh out of the previously unopened box, what else will go wrong 1 month from now, 1 year from now? Thing is, this is probably caused by Windows and not a hardware problem so something else will probably malfunction in the next new computer. I can get by without the bio-reader, that won't stop me from using a computer, but the worry is still there about something new popping up next week. Yeah... probably taking it back today or tomorrow, still thinking about it.

    Disappointments all around

I bought this thing and one of the keys sunk the third time I used it. I had it for less than ten days before it broke and Dell’s warranty department wanted me to send it in to them so they could fix it, which would take another 10-12 days. So i’m Literally spending more time waiting for them to fix it than the amount of time I owned it before it broke. Unfortunately for me, I was out of town for a while right after I bought it and by the time I got back, Best Buy’s 15 day return period had expired. I called them and the nice person at the store said “You could try bringing it in, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up”. Awesome. Less than a month in and at this point I have spent more time dealing with problems than actually using the computer. At least Dell’s people told me that if I had bought it directly from them, they would have refunded my money, but no such treatment when you buy things from Best Buy. Lesson learned, don’t shop at Best Buy, don’t buy an Inspiron, make sure you have a ton of extra free time to spend dealing with the hassles of the $830 piece of junk you just bought.

    Unsure about how I feel

So I got this laptop yesterday and overall it's a great laptop, it just has one big problem. Whenever I try to do any kind of light gaming, this laptop has trouble loading games. I don't know why though because this laptop is very fast with everything else. I think it's a wifi issue more than anything else because of the fact that gaming performs better on other wifi connections. But whenever I use my home wifi, the performance is bad. The weird thing is that I don't have this issue with any other laptop in my house even when I used my home wifi. This laptop is the only one I have problems with. Other than that, there's no other problem with this laptop. Everything else is exactly what I would expect from a laptop in this price range. My favorite things about the laptop so far are the speakers and touchscreen. I really hope this laptop might just be defective or there's a solution to my problem. If this laptop really can't handle gaming, I will be returning it for sure which will be disappointing.

      Megan,

We're sorry that your computer is not performing well for you. One thing we'd recommend is testing your connection with the following steps:

      1. Run the Network Troubleshooter.
      a) Touch and hold or right-click the network icon (Available Networks or Network Icon, located in the lower right-hand corner).
      b) Touch or click Troubleshoot problems and then follow the prompts.

    My left speaker is defective.

So I've had this computer for almost 2 weeks now, everything works perfect. EXCEPT my left speaker for some reason likes to go out here and there, its annoying. So I got help from Dell Sr. service tech, and he went above and beyond to help me. he accessed my laptop over the phone and unistalled and reinstalled my audio software and even made my windows 10 a little faster. Than a couple days later same thing happens. left speaker goes out around night time, than in the morning when i turn it on both speakers work perfectly fine. I'm starting to think it might just be a hardware issue not software issue. going to best buy to exchange it for the same laptop and hopefully the new one has ZERO hiccups. other than this annoying left speaker that works when it wants this laptop is everything i want.

This laptop boots fast, so SSD drives for me from now on. The screen is great and it HD, so I like that as well. The case and overall build seem durable as well. Overall this 2 in 1 has impressed me. There are some negatives with this 2 in 1, one being the fingerprint reader and the other is the sound card. Both of these will disappear and/of stop functioning from a sleep resume randomly. I updated the drivers and tried some other tricks, but it still happens. The only way to fix these two problems is a restart, so I'm sure it's a software or Windows 10 bug. The speakers are lacking and in a bad location as well. Yes would still buy this though....

I5 Intel Processor - Check 8 GB Ram - Check 256 GB SSD Drive - Check 15.6” Screen - Check Many, many ports available as well. This is one fine laptop. I had my doubts buying a Dell, but this machine has been a solid performer. It’s been about a month since I’ve purchased this laptop, and everything appears good to go. It’s not the top of the line laptop, but for my applications, there is no difference between this PC and an I7 processor with 16 GB Ram except for a few hundred dollars remaining in my pocket. In 5 to 7 years, it may be outdated, but it won’t be vintage. I would recommend this 2 in 1 laptop.

I purchased this 2-in-1 laptop open box at my local BestBuy at a significantly reduced price. That reduced price was just about the same as a brand new 2-in-1 computer with nearly identical specs that was advertised at my local Warehouse retailer which also included a Touch Pen. But, the other retailer was out of stock for the comparable computer. (I needed the computer the same day as I was preparing for travel the next day.) In terms of the computer, it is pretty nice with decent performance and good features. However, I feel it was priced too high compared to other brands at other stores for the same features.

The Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 is a good laptop. It's fast, in terms of start up time and processing; the keys are comfortable, though a little squeaky; the backlighting of the keys is nice and turns off after inactivity, which I like; the narrower screen border allows for more screen real estate. I don't care much for the beveled design of the keyboard. The fingerprint reader often doesn't read my fingerprint. The weight of the screen makes the laptop top heavy, which makes it unstable if not on a flat surface, like when it's on your lap.

As a student, a lightweight computer is really important, but I also do a lot of multitasking. This model is easy to carry around with a good size and quality display, and I've had no issues with running multiple programs at once (Excel, multiple browser tabs, Netflix, Word all open at once). Also, this is my first 2-in-1 and I didn't think I would use the tablet mode, but I find that I love it. The only thing I miss from my old laptop is the number pad. Would definitely recommend for everyday school/work use.

Bought this computer on Jan 1. Beginning of May I realized I had no sound. I updated all drivers yet it continued to say that no audio devices were installed. After going through the same process with the Dell tech dept it appears that I have faulty speakers. They want me to send in my Laptop for 10-14 days and we all knows how that goes...much longer I am sure. So my business computer which I use everyday would have to be gone for at least two weeks. I can't. So this just stinks!

I love my new Dell. I am glad I choose the larger screen. I bought the stylus pen at the same time. It is fun to use, but I don't always utilize it since I don't always tote it along with me, even in my house. I forget I have It, but I'm grad I have it. So for the price, you may not miss it. However, I use the touch screen all the time. I love the lighted keyboard, which is my favorite spec. The flip screen is new for me and I love this feature as well. Overall, the quality is awesome and so far it is living up to my expectations.

All my older laptops have SSD harddrives. I needed a new laptop with touch screen for work. This one I like alot as size is good for carry on bag, also the battery time is great, and it dont burn you up with heat. Battery seems to be internal, and no disk drive. No problem really, I carry usb dvd drive. I would not use this for PowerPoint presentations because my eyes are old, I use a larger laptop for powerpoint work. I did upgrade to win10 pro. Good Bang for the buck.

This will be my first touch screen laptop and i don't have any complaints about it. It has a great specs with i5, 256G and 8GBram. Its portable as i can carry it anyware but as I am using it I'm losing space as 256GB is limited, its hard to upgrade as the only way is to replace my m.2 ssd card to a bigger hard disk. Though despite the hdd concern this is a good deal, i even got a price match and great deal buying it in the store.

This is the first computer I have ever bought myself and so far it has not let me down. I just started law school this month and knew I needed a laptop that would work quickly with several tabs open. The only glitch I have experienced so far is that sometimes the fingerprint censor doesn’t seem to realize my finger is on it, but I am able to unlock it using either a password or a PIN in these cases.

I had to get a new laptop to replace my Windows 7 laptop. What a hassle. The laptop lacks enough ports. It does not come with any documentation. The walk-through is sorely lacking. If I hadn't a husband who is very comfortable with computers (his profession for 35 years) I would have been lost. The pen that comes with it seems to interfere with a tablet I already had. I hate Windows 10. And office 365. Outlook is terrible.

I purchased the 2 in 1 option thinking it would be more convenient to use but it isn't for me; I still prefer using the standard feature of a regular laptop. Not having had a laptop with all the possibilities of this one, I'm having trouble experimenting to find out what I can do on it. A little scary for a guy my age. However, the touch screen feature on this laptop seems better to use than the last one I tried. Very convenient.

I like this laptop. I had to buy one as my other laptop died . Can't find a thing wrong with it. I bought this one because according to the Best Buy associate who helped me, this laptop would last longer [better made] then the laptops for $500. One of the many reasons I like Best Buy is the interest free financing. I gave it four stars instead of five because only time will tell about its longevity.

The product is fantastic. Display quality is great, battery life is awesome, easy setup with prompts and the rest is intuitive. Only issue was that it comes with McAfee and that somehow blocked Chrome after about a week. I had to find an uninstall download online to get rid of McAfee. I purchased Webroot the same time I did the PC, so I knew I didn’t need McAfee. Love this thing though.

I was really excited to upgrading my MacBook, but when I walked into the Best Buy the sales associate talk me into a Dell since I wasn’t really doing sound engineering. The Dell laptop is as sleek as the MacBook completely touch screen and I love the tablet option it’s gives. I haven’t had any issue from it and everything is always easy to download or figure out .

Much, much lighter than my previous Dell laptop, a welcomed improvement. Also, much faster and longer battery life. Love it. Overall, very happy with my new computer and the Geeksquad service I received transfering data and getting it up and running - although I did have to spend some considerable time on the phone to get my Quickbooks and Quicken up and running properly.
