This is hands down the slowest computer I've ever used. I only bought it today and am already returning it. I've been trying to reset the computer to return it and that by itself has already taken up an hour and is only at 10%. I have not even downloaded any software on it because loading any kind of webpage on it is painfully slow.

Our Dell Home computer we bought from Best Buy just a few years ago crashed Christmas Day 2017 when it was updating and backing up Windows 10 and Dell backup. Dell refused to help us and unfortunately I did not have a lot of time to find a better brand computer so I bought the laptop. I will not buy another Dell product again.

Hello Juju62,
We're sorry to hear that your Dell computer crashed. We'd recommend that you try to diagnose the issue by following these steps:
1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports". 2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software. 3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly. 4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.
We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page - http://dell.to/2yuPeJ9.

I purchased one of these laptops for each of my high schoolers, and both of them stopped working within the first 6 months- one with OS issues and one with hardware problems. Am returning to Best Buy and will find something different. I did not expect so many problems with an $800 laptop.

Three weeks passed before my computer tech, wifi provider and I figured out that there was a problem with the computer and not my wifi system or anything else. Best Buy washed their hands of this matter and I still do not have a computer, that I paid a lot of money for, to use.

I was excited when I received my Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop with Intel Core i5, 8GB Memory and 2TB Hard Drive in Era Gray as I'd been interested in a convertible laptop for a while.
When the box arrived, there was nothing fancy about it at all, opened it up and it had suitable 'eggbox' style packaging inside.
Unwrapped the laptop, turned it on and it fired up. Went through all the usual set up, windows activation, face recognition for login, preferences etc. Very straight forward.
Went to test the touchscreen, folding the laptop back on itself and found the hinges to be very stiff indeed. Took more force than I was expecting to be able to do that, definitely a two hand move. However, being as the laptop can be used as it's own stand when in tablet mode, I can understand why the hinges are so tight. It just wasn't what I was expecting.
At this time, everything fired up nice and quickly, launching youtube and loading videos, everything was smooth and clear. The slim bezel, large screen looks really nice when videos are full screen. Nice smooth resolution and high detail.
The keyboard is backlit, which is especially useful when using the laptop at night, a nice soft glow, with a very 'mac-like' tactile feel to the keys.
The brushed aluminum case is nice looking, functional and should be nice and durable over time. The trackpad is large, with a nice little definition detail between the 'buttons' and the trackpad. It functions nice and smoothly. The power button is nicely detailed too, although the power button light is a little distracting when using in low light.
The next time I went to use the laptop, it seemed to take a long time to wake up, and connect itself back to the network. Seemed to take a lot longer than the other PC laptop I have on my network (and for reference, I have AT&Ts Gigapower service). That was a concern to me as you want to 'pick up and play' when you are using a laptop or definitely a tablet. At this time tho, that is my only concern really with this laptop. Otherwise it is a really nice product with some really nice high end features on it.

Laptop with Great Performance and Style

This laptop has everything I need and offers great performance. What I like about this laptop is that it meets all my needs but is still rather simple, compact, easy to use, and fast. After unpacking, it takes an hour or two to do the first time setup and install all the recent windows updates. I had no problems connecting to the Internet or to my Bluetooth mouse. The computer is small and thin, which I like a lot, but the keyboard is still plenty big. The screen is very clear and bright and the sound quality is good for a laptop this small. Also, it is easy to connect to external devices with Bluetooth as well as from the USB and HDMI ports. I compared the performance on a graphic intensive game to a computer that had an i7 chip (this laptop has an i5) and a high end graphics card (this laptop has an integrated chipset) and this laptop was just as fast if not faster. I would call that pretty impressive performance.
There are a few things that I didn't like about this laptop. The first is that it doesn't have a number keypad. This is mostly preference, but because I work a lot with spreadsheets and am used to using the numbers on the right, it took a little getting used to. The second issue I had was with the graphics card. It has an integrated graphics card which seemed to work well (see comments above). However, the game I ran didn't recognize the graphics driver and I had to set it up manually. This could very well be because it is a new computer and the game provider hasn't installed the exact driver yet, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
Overall, this laptop is basic but yet impressive and I would highly recommend it.

Alboholic,
We appreciate your feedback. If you'd like your computer to run faster for you we'd recommend running the Windows Performance Troubleshooter here:
1. Close all open windows. 2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard. 3. Click Control Panel. 4. Click System and Security. 5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems. 6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process. 8. Restart the PC.
If you'd like to increase your battery life we'd recommend following these tips:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon. 2. On the options list, click Power Options. 3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver. b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results. Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs. c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off. d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage. f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

This is a nice laptop, with decent features, and some nice touches; as others have mentioned the back lit keyboard is nice, and the facial recognition software makes it easy to log in.
Its not really fast by any means, and even though it has 8 gigs of ram, it still seems sluggish going through memory intensive things.
But, its biggest issue for me was its size/weight; I'm a large strong man, and there is no way I would ever consider this a "tablet"; yes, it does fold backwards in a tablet like fashion, but its way too big and bulky to even consider using it as one.
If you are looking for a larger laptop that has a screen that folds back, then you might want to consider this one; but, if you want a light, agile, portable notebook type device, this is NOT the one for you

Hi Wase4711 - Thanks for your recent Dell purchase and for your review. We're glad to see that for the most part this computer is meeting your needs. If you are experiencing slowness with your device we'd recommend the following: Delete temporary files and directories 1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box. 2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need) 3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use 1. Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel. 2. Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use. 3. Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall. 4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall. 5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.). 6. Empty the Recycle Bin. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tSulGV. We hope this helps with the overall speed of your device. - Bryan

I bought this (I7573-1504) on sale for $ 549.99 (April 2018). For that price no other laptop is available with all these features. Beautiful and Bold. The only drawback was that Dell had put the ancient HDD in this unit. Had they sent it with a 2.5" SSD, I would have given a 5 star rating. After updating windows, I downloaded an ISO image of the Windows from Microsoft (you would get a legit one as yours is already activated), transferred it to a USB, plucked out the HDD, put a 2.5" SSD from my old system in its place and installed windows in it. 10 times faster now, Dell runs like a dream. This machine has an M.2 PCIe NVMe 3 x4 empty port which can take an M.2 NVMe or a mere M.2 SSD. (The latter is as fast as a 2.5" SSD while NVMe is 6-7 times faster). I'm happy with the SSD and may go for NVMe after some time. I cannot end this review without mentioning the IR face recognition. Terrific. It takes a fraction of a second to log on to Windows. Great job Dell.

I’ve been using Mac products for years now and wanted to give PC a try again.
Pros:This 2-in-1 is well built. Metal casing, light, very clear screen. Key board is backlit and keys are similar to a Mac. Memory and hard drive are more than enough to get you thru the life of the computer without running out of space. I was pleased with the speed when browsing online. The responsiveness of the touch screen is better than my fiancé’s Lenovo yoga which was very surprising to me. Also very easy to switch between regular laptop use and tablet use.
Cons:It does make this weird ticking sound and a little vibration when booting and maybe a few seconds after you’re logged in. Doesn’t seem to effect the functionality of the laptop but definitely something I’ve never experienced in any type of laptop before. The track pad is also a little off to me. After messing with settings I still can’t tell if it’s too sensitive or not sensitive enough. I can’t seem to get it to be as responsive as what I’m used to. Overall, this Dell doesn’t have me sold on switching back to PC. But for a 2-in-1 it’s better than what I was expecting.

- Tweed, Thanks for your review. We're happy to hear that for the most part, your new 2-in-1 is meeting your needs. If you'd like some help with the touchpad settings we'd suggest the following: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings: 1. In the Search box, type main.cpl. 2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs. 3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab. 4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad. 5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option). 6. Change the options as preferred. 7. Touch or click Save. 8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility. 9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window. 10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02. We hope this helps and that the computer performs the way you had hoped it would. - Bryan

I’ve always been impressed with the value and affordability of the Inspiron line, and this Dell does not disappoint.
- The screen is amazing. Big and bright. Tablet mode is a big plus.
- the setup experience is wonderful.
The only con I have here is that it’s a tad on the heavy side. I’m not sure I would want to travel with this, but for occasional transport or commuting, it’s fine.
