This Dell is a great PC for those that don't need a bunch of graphical power but still want to get things done. It's thin, light, and has great aesthetics.
The touch screen is nice if you want to poke at the screen, but I prefer the traditional laptop experience. On the software end, it is a basic set up experience with minimal bloatware installed. However, plan on at least 1-2 hours to completely set up and fully update your laptop.
The charging port feels snug and secure so hopefully this will stay in tact after heavy use. The screen is 1080p HD so it looks good.
Main complaint in the sound. The sound is tinny and isn't really that great though.
Overall, it is snappy and seems well built. Pretty good laptop for the price.

I travel a lot for work. I decided to pick up a newer laptop to replace my old i3 powered unit that has served me fairly well until recently. I spent weeks over thinking my choice and being picky about which i7 processor I wanted, the 8550U, the 8750H, ultimately the 8565U seemed like a great balance between power and performance.
Being light weight and portable is important to me, I wanted something under 5 lbs for those times I had to run from gate to gate to catch a connecting flight, This laptop with its charging brick saved me almost a full pound in my bag, it's also much thinner allowing me to rearrange my bag to have my second external screen in the same padded part of my bag as the laptop, allowing me to also ditch a few ounces for the padded case the second screen was in.
I never thought I would use this computer in the tent, tablet or presentation mode, but having it for a week I've actually used it in every mode, it's always transitioned from one mode to the other pretty well. If I had one complaint it would be that if you try using the webcam in tent mode, it will show you upside down as I found out when I skyped my family from a hotel in Dallas. Maybe there is some update Dell could do to fix that.
I originally wished the computer had a 10 key. I work a lot with spreadsheets and building/ maintaining records (hence the second screen) and I thought a 10 key would come in handy. I ended up purchasing a wireless 10key and mouse from Amazon, it took a few days but I got it figured out I work the mouse with my right hand and 10key with my left hand and I'm already faster entering data than I was on a standard keyboard (mostly due to the mouse vs a trackpad)
I do like having the backlit keyboard thats a big improvement over my old laptop.
One complaint I have is battery life. I set my processor performance to the lowest setting, and the screen is normally at the 50% or 75% setting and I'm getting less than three hours of life on a full charge. I've also had the computer shut down on me a minute or two after receiving a 20% battery life notification, sending me scrambling to get it plugged in so I didn't lose hours of work.
Many other reviewers are saying they are getting great battery life, I've updated all the drivers and run diagnostics on Dells site and nothing comes up as working improperly so I'm wondering if I have a faulty battery. I also had an issue when I innitially purchased it, I brought it home, unboxed it, plugged it in, and went to dinner with my family, expecting it to charge while I was away, it didn't. I'll be taking it to best buy or calling Dell to get this resolved.
My other complaint is screen brightness. If I'm working in a well lit area with natural light, it has to be at 100% screen brightness. In an office it has to be at 75% and in a dim room it still has to be at 50%, I'm sure in an effort to squeeze better battery life out of it, it isnt equipped with the brightest screen. Which would be ok if I wasn't getting under 2:30 screen time at 100% brightness.
Assuming I have a faulty battery I would still recommend this laptop to someone, and I hope they can get the minor webcam thing resolved.

TheKingofLaveen,
Thanks for your feedback. We'd recommend following some of these tips to help extend the battery life of your computer:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon. 2. On the options list, click Power Options. 3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver. b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results. Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs. c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off. d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage. f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.
If you'd like to see if the screen brightness can be improved we'd recommend looking into the Adaptive Screen Brightness settings on your computer: Windows can adjust the brightness of the display based on how much light is reaching the system's ambient light sensor. This feature is referred to as 'adaptive brightness' and it can be disabled in Windows. Here are some steps to adjust this feature:
1. In the Search box, type Settings. 2. Touch or click Settings (Modern application). 3. Touch or click System. 4. On the Display screen find the Adjust my screen brightness automatically option. 5. Touch or click the slider to toggle the option on or off. 6. Touch or click Apply. 7. Close the System window.

I have always been a fan of Dell since 2008 when I owned my first Dell Inspiron laptop. It was built like a beast back then and is built like a beast now. The graphics are sharp. The touch screen is very responsive. If you are looking for security, the fingerprint login works well. The battery lasts forever. The only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of is the weight. It's a little bit heavier than I would have liked but I don't travel with it often. Overall I was very impressed with this laptop. Good job, Dell!

Hi Valued Customer,

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up, once I realized the Windows 10 license was embedded in the motherboard and all I had to do was activate it. Microsoft Office was preloaded, and it connected to my license in the Microsoft Cloud. Netflix movies play well. Sound is awesome. I have only had this laptop for a few days, so I have not had an opportunity to test battery life. Backlit keyboard can be turned off with a toggle switch. The keyboard itself is responsive, and has a little bit of a click, which I like. Lightweight compared to other laptops I’ve used. The hinge works smoothly, when switching over to tablet mode. I didn’t buy a stylus yet to test out drawing and writing on it. I would recommend this to others looking for this size (15 inch) laptop.

Since 2009 I haven't owned anything outside of Apple when it comes to computers, but after using this computer for a few days, I was really impressed! I've never owned a touchscreen computer before, and I really like it. This is probably one of my favorite features! I really love how the computer boots up in less time than normal and the picture is pretty nice too! I'm still having a problem with no disk drive, but I guess that's the norm with all the new laptops. I would have really liked to watch some movies on this to see how they would look, but everything else about this computer, including the fingerprint scanner is spot-on! MacBook users may want to take a look at this computer as well, because I never thought I would like anything outside of a Mac, but I was totally surprised by how much I loved this computer.

Solid Consumer 2-in-1 laptop

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 laptop is a svelte computer for home and small office computer use. This convertible 2-in-1 device with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz with 8Gb RAM can be used as a standard laptop, or it can also be folded over into a tablet device. It does not come with a pen, which you can purchase separately. Since I don’t own a pen, I have not really been able to test the tablet features, but it is a really good laptop with full sized laptop keyboard and 15.6” display. The Intel Core i7 Processor, 8Gb of RAM, and 512 Gb SSD make for a good feeling of speed.
To allow for its streamlined profile, the optical drive and ethernet jack have been eliminated from this laptop, which is usual for other 2-in-1 devices. The laptop comes with HDMI port, USB-C connector, headphone jack, two USB ports, and a media card reader. As this device includes USB-C, check out options at the electronics store for a USB-C based hub which can definitely expand your options.
The 512Gb SSD helped this laptop boot quickly and operate with reduced delays in running applications. However, as someone who has a lot of data, you will have to make choices about what data or media files you want to store locally.
For software, the computer comes with Windows 10 Home, Office 365 Trial, and McAfee Security software. No physical media is included, and the recovery software is included on a second partition on the hard drive. I did enable the Dell Mobile Connect software to sync with my mobile phone, which allows you to view texts and contents of your phone, as well as place and take calls.
To test the multimedia options, I installed Netflix Windows app and enjoyed watching some shows, as well as ran some local video and had no trouble. The audio is pretty good on the laptop. On keyboard controls allow you to control your music playback. As with most laptops if you want to fill a room with noise you should expect to add some external speakers.
For security, Dell sends the laptop with McAfee Security which is your call whether you keep. The laptop has a fingerprint reader which can be enabled in Windows 10 to scan in multiple fingerprint profiles. I enabled the fingerprint scan feature which worked well, and instantly logs you in. If that feature is not your preference, you can use password login, PIN login, as well as fingerprint scan using Windows Hello features.
I am not a big gaming person, however one of my favorite games is the Starcraft 2 set of games. I played for an hour and a half, and had no lags, playback was smooth and awesome. Although this is not a gaming laptop, I found it handled this gaming quite well.
Dell provides a one-year warranty for parts and labor, mail in service. I used it once a year ago on a different Dell laptop, and all it took was one phone call to Dell support. They provide the RMA, and free shipping label, you use the box to send the device back after backing up your data. You get the laptop back within two weeks. Dell’s warranty support was great for this simple issue, and I would recommend springing for an additional year or two of warranty support since this is a significant purchase.
All in all, I was quite satisfied with my experience with Dell's Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 laptop.

Excellent Upgrade

My personal laptop I've used for about 4 years now was feeling dated. So when this Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 arrived I was quite excited to give it a try. Right out of the box I had to go through the process of set up.The entire set up process took about 30 minutes to complete and was guided through each step of the way. The only issue I had was my version of windows was not activated during initial set up and with a quick call to dell support they were able to fix the issue ASAP. The representative that helped me was very thorough, patient and willingly exhausted all of my questions with extreme tact. Once off of the call and with my Dell running optimally, I put it through its paces. I went to various websites utilizing Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, they both did excellent. I played a few games each one loaded fast and the graphics are amazing. After that I went on a YouTube binge and the display has outstanding resolution. One of my favorite features is the fingerprint scanner, which allows me quick access to log on onto my laptop. The start time is less than a 30 seconds and I'm logged on in well under a minute. I'm able to download large files in a short amount of time and edit my GoPro footage with ease. This was an Excellent Upgrade and I won't be going back to my $1,100 four year old SP3.

This laptop is nice, sleek and lightweight!
Setup took about a 1/2 but this is expected.
I have not owned a dell laptop in a couple of years because I wanted “Apple" Brand everything, but I have to say that dell has always been my favorite hands down. I have the cheaper version of apple (air) and there is really no comparison.
The picture quality on this dell is amazing,
Great Build quality
Keyboard is back-lit
I love the fingerprint option sensor to unlock the computer.
Laptop performance is amazing.
Putting laptop into tablet mode is very simple.
I have not used my other laptops since receiving this one! (My daughters HP and my MB Air)
Overall I love this 2 in 1 laptop and I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

This is a great media laptop, and can do some casual gaming, and a lot of mainstream work productivity. Windows 10 works well on this hardware, as does Win 10's "Tablet Mode" when used in that configuration. It has a sizable SSD, but no discrete graphics card and its not the form factor to include a beefy graphics card anyways. It is quite large at 15.6" screen for a fold over 2-in-1 converting laptop to tablet, but it does work well in that configuration. Its battery life is pretty good, but I was expecting better than the 3.75 to 4 hours I got out of constant use, web browsing and video watching, before its battery was below 10 percent. The touch screen works well and can use it with an active pen. The screen is very viewable at different angles and can be as bright as needed. Resolution is 1920 x 1080P or Full HD as they market it now.

Great laptop, but can't install second SSD drive

I purchased this laptop after being told I could install a second SSD drive for all my data. I played around with it as purchased for a couple days are really liked it. It was built solid, great screen resolution, very fast startup.
However, when I started to look into what secondary SSD to get, I couldn't find anything in the manual. Turns out that there is only one M.2 slot which is used by the install 512MB drive. The SATA slot was partially covered by the battery and a 2.5 drive could not fit under it.
The computer does come with the Dell stylus.
The Geek Squad did a great job trying to find options for me to install a secondary SSD, but with no luck.
I really liked the laptop, but needed the secondary SSD, so I ended up returning it.
If you don't need the secondary SSD, I would recommend this laptop, especially at the sale price of $899.99 that I was lucky to get this at.
