After just a couple of weeks over the return period. the hard drive started throwing SMART errors. A quick call to Dell confirmed that, yes, it was indeed under warranty, but, no, they couldn't just ship me the replacement. Two weeks lost there with no computer. Other big problem I've found with it is that you essentially can't use it with an external monitor. It has both HDMI & USB-C/DisplayPort capability, and it DOES work - if you don't mind cooking your system. Unless you're doing very simple browsing and use both a cooling pad and something like an Opolar cooler, it quickly gets so hot that the external screen starts resetting every few minutes. Even with all that cooling forget about doing anything graphics intensive with an external screen connected. At least the built-in panel operates flawlessly. All in all I'd say it's a good thing Dell has discontinued this dog. There's much better systems out there for the money.

i bought this laptop from best buy with highest specifications 1-7 processor 16 GB ram and 1 TB hard disk with 2 in 1 feature and powerful graphic card fro Nvida in the hope that I will be good to go but I observe it is not as fast as it should be because it does not have SSD on it. other my major concern is network card is not built in you have to buy separately as usb device also two usb ports 3.0 are not enough I am considering buying separate usb hub to support my other peripherals. surprisingly dell did not pre installed some software on it like Roxio dvd burner and some other basic soft wares that were used to be part of dell system. warranty status is expiring in one month from the date of buying as my laptop keeps reminding me so I have to call dell or best buy to fix the problem. overall look and design is good . when buying take in to considerations above facts.

The screen is large gorgeous. 1080p movies are sharp with excellent colors. Lots of memory and a peppy processor tackle tasks easily. Yes there is no optical drive, but external optical drives are rather inexpensive. With the USB-C connector you can plug in a 4-port USB 3.0 hub for plenty of expansion. With the memory, CPU and display capabilities it seems a shame that Dell hobbled this with a slow 5400 rpm mechanical HDD. I know it is a 1TB and 1TB SSD are still a bit expensive, but it is so slow. Luckily I had a 1TB SSD waiting to be used. I imaged the HDD to the SSD before even turning on the PC so the setup and install has all been on the speedy SSD. I know that this might be a bit much for the average user, but if you have a computer nerd friend, do it, or have the GS do it for you. It makes this Big Beautiful guy fly like an eagle.

The computer had issues with freezing and connectivity. I took it to the Geek Squad at the store and he had no suggestions or help. Other than it is enviromental issue. I have 2 other computers, none of which had any issues at all. In fact I have 2 work from home jobs that require stellar internet connectivity. No issues on any other computer. I will also mention that these issues occurred when no other computers were connected to the internet or even in use. The freezing issue was not internet related but happened during use offline. I returned the computer and purchased an HP that was not a 2 in 1 elsewhere. Since purchasing the HP computer I have heard that 2 in 1s have these issues. I found out the hard way. I am happy with my new HP laptop and I have had zero issues using the new computer. Which also proves it was not environmental. I would not recommend this computer. Too many issues.

    Solid machine

Dells have always made solid computers in my opinion. I've always had Dell laptops and my old one lasted some 15 years before finally showing signs of its ancient horsepower under the hood. Everything still worked but not matter how much ram I needed a new laptop that is more of a desktop replacement than portability. It is a nice sleek machine. Metal clad exterior. Large track pad. Latest generation Intel. While it isn't a powerhouse it is good for the casual game. It is fast enough on most task that I will be using it for like Photoshop etc. The keyboard is slightly shallow but I have no problems typing on it. The screen is beautiful and it is a touchscreen that I don't really use. I don't like touching the screen unlike a tablet or phone. If you are looking for portability, it is probably a tad heavy and while do able if you really want to.

Absolutely LOVE this laptop and was definitely worth the upgrade from my previous one and well worth the money spent! Just be careful with the Price Match Guarantee listed in store or online since they later refunded me $100 since I had found the exact computer cheaper elsewhere, showed them in store yet they told me this computer, which I later proved had the same exacts specs, supposedly couldn't be price matched even though the website clearly stated it could be because Best Buy does something special to it to make it different from the average version which is totally not true. With all that aside however, this laptop is perfect for what I need it for. No gaming since I'm strictly a console chick, casual social media... mainly shopping online like the female that I am. ;) Great purchase!!

I love the bargains that often appear in open box offerings ... this last purchase was very rushed and last minute, so neglected to see the "no power supply included" ... the unit has an atypical plug and higher wattage requirement so the universal PS didn't work ... also after the fact I found NO CD and no data cable socket - only the flash drive sockets and a few others ... the staff were extremely helpful and understanding but sorta limited by my lack of attention to detail ... still though, awesome screen / resolution, great speed, wonderful storage and WiFI connectability, and computer at a bargain price so I will always visit that area of the store first ... but surprises can occur when we don't carefully read labels and carefully inspect the peripheral capabilities so take your time and don't rush

This review is for the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 17.3" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce 940MX - 1TB Hard Drive - Gray Not really a Dell fan but I think they did really well with this one. Depending on what your needs are. I use this one for my graphic/motion graphic designs. Holds up really well. It's also pretty thin for a 17 inch. The only complaint I had was that it doesn't have a disc drive because it acts as a notebook also. But how much is a disc drive used these days? Wouldn't recommend for the hardcore gamer. Don't think that's the intention for these 2-in-1's. I'd say this is probably a mid-tier to high-tier computer. High for laptop needs, mid for heavier needs. It's actually faster than a pricier HP with the same specs I had a month prior.

Slim profile coupled with fast, latest 7th Gen Intel Core i7processor. Recommend switching to an SSD for even faster performance over the stock Seagate 5400 RPM unit. The difference with an SSD is substantial and immediately noticeable. Bought an external CD/DVD-RW for legacy software and a USB-C to 4-port USB 3.0 Data Hub as there are only one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port on the unit. If you use a wireless mouse you are down to one USB port and the USB-C hub makes other connections a breeze though you do have to do it externally, which is not as convenient as a built-in port. Screen is nice and resolution from graphics is good. Anti-glare matte screen would have been appreciated at this price point. Overall a solid buy and a good way to get the latest hardware spec.

The hard drive on this computer has died twice now. The second time it died they had me send the entire computer back to Dell. They did not find anything and sent the computer back to us. They have replaced the hard drive twice but it would not help us with recovering the contents. They said that I should not trust the hard drive. I have never had a hard drive fail so to have to fill in 10 months seems strange. It also seems odd that they did not find anything else wrong with the hardware in the computer. To have two fail in 10 months seems strange. It also seems odd that they did not find anything else wrong with the hardware in the computer. Would not recommend due to the lack of quality of the hard drive. I would expect a lot more from this price range.

I only used this laptop for 2 weeks when the hard drive died. I took it into Geek Squad right away and they were very helpful! It was still under warranty so they sent back to Dell to get a new hard drive and they allow you to track every step of the way including where it is at in transit as well as the repair process. I'm not super thrilled that I had to deal with this so soon but the staff has been very helpful. The laptop its self is great! Good speed, great picture, and I love the big screen. I use Microsoft office mainly and did some pretty heavy gaming for a few days and the laptop didn't even get that warm. I plan on running some more robust programs (AutoCAD and ArcGIS) but didn't get chance to install them and try it out.

very nice, large, clear screen. keys light up. sleek and thin style. screen is responsive with no lag. I want to give it 4.5, because I feel there is only one design flaw... so i't almost perfect. the power button is on the side where you commonly hold the computer to pick it up or move it. the button should really be in the keyboard area to avoid accidentally turning it off when you move it. one other note... which is entirely my fault for not understanding the tech until after I bought a touch screen.. it's not pen compatible. i have a pen, and it works just fine as a stylus, but not to it's full potential... there is no way to use the pen in "pen" or ink mode, so you can't let your hand rest on the screen when drawing

I bought this laptop as a replacement for my dell vostro. I was a little hesitant about getting a 17" laptop, but I am glad I did. I also was going from windows 7 professional to windows 10. I found the transition to be quick and painless! I love the laptop. It is thinner and lighter than the vostro. It's quick and does everything I need it to do. The only downside is, no cd/DVD. Honestly thought, I can't remember the last time I used one of those in my old laptop. I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a fast and quality product. I haven't used the tablet feature yet, but at 17", I doubt I will.

slow boot time and once you load a bunch of movies/ music on hard drive it bogs the sys to a snails pace to retrieve them. The Hard drive sucks. Why the he** would dell put a huge hard drive that is SO SLOW knowing that win10 scans everything before loading it.? the only way i would buy this pc is with a solid state drive. I was a day last dollar short on return. To busy to spend alot of time using to load the system down with files within the 15 DAY return window so everything seemed to be great till i got time to load it wit vids and music them the system went to a sails pace. Dude yer getting a dell! Dude yer getting a hose job! now i have to spend more money to put a solid state drive in this p.o.s. great just great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This computer is not worth it for the price. The intel core I7 processor is only a dual core processor. no real power. The computer that I had took 5 min on boot to get to the log in screen and then an additional 5 min to get to usable. The graphic performance was worse than an Intel Mac book pro in windows 10.. Tech support was a joke. They made sure that it was not a hardware issue then told me since it was a software issue I would have to pay for support after being transfered around. For the price, if you want a computer with a descrete graphics card look at a gaming laptop, I got an MSI for less than 100.00 more it had a more powerful processor, a solid state hard drive, and a regular hard drive. and a more powerfull video card.

I love the computer. It's fast sleek and with the large touchscreen it is easy to see and operate. The backlit keyboard is a great touch. It has excellent battery life and unlike my last dell laptop it stays pretty cool. It would have gotten 5 stars but the first one I had purchase from Best Buy lasted only 4 weeks before the hard drive gave out on it. I returned it to Best Buy for replacement but they did not have one like it to replace it for the price that I had paid. I ended up getting an open box of the same model. The open box had also had a hard drive failure. Maybe it was just a bad batch of hard drives but we shall see. I will come back and update this if it fails again.

I actually didn't get my Dell until the December around the 19th. The app says November but that is when I got the 1st one. It took 3 to finally figured out the others were crashing because because these and millions of others were defaulting on updates to Microsoft other computers and the internet. This was the default so one had to go deep into updates to find how the computer was getting updates and change it from the default setting to a much safer way which didn't include the internet. By this time I was not allowed to get the Geek squad and 10 months later the keyboard went out. Needless to say I will never buy another Dell.

I purchased a refurbished Dell figuring it had been thoroughly checked over before putting it back on the market. Well they missed something and within two weeks it was taken back to Best Buy because the hard drive had died. The now re-repaired computer is working great. Love the 2-in-one feature along with the touch screen. I purchased an identical new, not refurbished model for my wife and no problems at all with that one. This is my first Win10 machine having not updated since Vista. It takes time to figure how to get here and there but getting easier every day. My biggest complaint is they expect you pay monthly or yearly for a decent word processor which just isn't right, in my opinion.

This computer is a piece of junk. Nothing works well. The hard drive is very slow and chatty (yes I defrag regularly) and all that RAM doesn't mean a thing. The wireless network adapter sometimes just sometimes stops working. Overall, it is just a frustrating computer to use and I absolutely regret buying it. I thought I could figure out the issues and resolve them but have come to the conclusion that no this computer is just worthless. I don't do anything intense on my computers so to see such poor performance is disappointing. I don't think that I will ever buy another Dell for personal use again.

This laptop has it all, gobs of memory, super processing power, 17.3" high definition display and it's a 2-in-1. I have a 2012 ASUS G73SW 17.3" core I7 laptop that weighs 8.8 ponds compared to 6.2 pounds for the Dell. Also, the Dell is so thin, about 1/2" at the versus about 2 inches thick at the hinge for the ASUS. Oh, and the Dell is touch screen whereas the ASUS is not but the ASUS cost $1200 when new. That's $300 more than the Dell. This is an incredible laptop and I don't think you'll go wrong if you buy one.
