My laptop crashed and burned while deployed to Afghanistan. My wife found this one as replacement for me. I has most of the features I need and use; however, it did not come with a disc drive nor an Ethernet port and it only has two USB ports. Other than missing some hardware items, the operating system and start up have been better than expected and it performs better than my HP Envy did.

At first I was skeptical about buying another DELL. Had one over 20 years ago, passed it down to my younger cousin. But wait!!! A very nice sales rep talked me into buying it over the others in the store. Price was right, 17 inch laptop, gorgeous screen and a nice keyboard. Thinner than most . It's a joy to use. It's now my go-to laptop. I have 4 and 3 Ipads. Recommend highly. Programs run quicker too!

I bought this laptop thinking it looked good and I wanted a larger screen than my old one. It was fine the first day, then on the second it started freezing for no reason. After only five days, the hard drive started dying. I could turn it on and do anything that didn't relate to the Internet, but that was all.

@cherrypie, Thanks for your recent Dell laptop purchase. We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your device freezing on you. Here are some tips to help with this issue:
      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below: 1) Start the computer. 2) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.) 3) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter. 4) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access. 5) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete steps 6 and 7 to see if you are able to resolve the lock ups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.
You can view the full article here - http://dell.to/2tW5m33.
We hope these tips help and that your issues will be resolved soon. - Bryan Dell

Although large at 17" screen size and a bit heavy, performance is fantastic and can run multiple programs at the same time. The sound quality is nice for a laptop and the screen has stunning clarity. Not good for using on your lap as it is a bit heavy but that was not my reason for buying and not the type of use. Great for watching movies and really like the ability to use as a tablet.

I like thus computer overall, it starts up fairly quickly, runs fairly quickly and performs all the tasks I need it to. the only thing is so.etimes, after logging in, it takes a couple moments to wake up and respond. beyond that there's nothing I would change. I even like the metal case this computer is in, versus the customary plastic. it gives it a good weight and feel.

    Expensive junk

Purchased the "Starlord" (named obviously as a joke) two months ago, and just picked it up for the second time from repair, as it can't install a Windows update without crashing. On the few occasions that it has worked, it is slow, slow, slow. Assumed I was purchasing a quality product, as I've always purchased Dell laptops and had minimal issues, but this one is a piece of junk.

      - Deborah, We can surely sympathize with the slowness that you're experiencing with your new Dell laptop as no one would expect this with a new device. We'd recommend trying these following steps to help get your computer a little faster:
      Delete temporary files and directories
      1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box.
      2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need)
      3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use 1. Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel. 2. Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use. 3. Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall.
      4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall.
      5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.).
      6. Empty the Recycle Bin.

We hope these tips help get your computer running at the speed you had hoped it would. - Bryan Dell

This Dell may be the best Dell has made in a long time. Fast, responsive, brilliant graphics, Intel core I7, 16 GB memory. Back light keyboard is a real plus, Touch screen truly effective. 1 TB drive big enough for the most dedicated photo collector. While not a true gamer, it supports gaming very well for the causal gamer. Somewhat expensive, but if you want it all buy this unit.

This laptop was definitely a good choice in terms of its performance. It worked great and was more than what i had expected but it never seemed to last longer than 2 months at a time before i had to go in and get it fixed. It would consistently fail due to hard drive errors and has put me off of using dell laptops entirely.

Purchased a geek square certified refurbished model. Shipped without a power cable. After spending an hour on the phone with customer service, was credited the cost of a power cable and told I could go buy my own. After obtaining a power cable, the computer froze repeatedly during setup. The computer was returned. An overall disappointing experience.

The first one I took home was a dud, but I took it back and they quickly exchanged it for a new one. They were sorry that it didn't work and made the exchange simple and fast. I like the ease of the Laptop, the only negative is where the fan is on this unit. It gets warm pretty fast if you don't keep the area on a very hard surface. Otherwise, it's great. No bed surfing.

Received as a Christmas gift so no choice in the matter but so far I like it. My husband chose it for me because it has the largest screen of any laptop and he knew I would like that for movies. So far it's been great but of course it has only been one month. It has no DVD drive but most new laptops don't either but he was able to get me a free standing one at a great low price.

I did a lot of research before buying this mainly because I have bought nothing but Apple products for years and I needed a good PC but didn't know very much at all about current ones. I finally settled on this one and I'm glad I did. I'm still a Mac person but I'm very happy with this Dell. It is very fast and the graphics are great. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful, big laptop with the right specs for my purposes. It's not as fast as I hoped, but does the trick. It's fairly heavy, but portable enough. For me, it's a desktop replacement that can be easily moved around the house to different rooms. I don't plan to use it for travel. Sleek design and looks elegant. I've had it a few months now and haven't had any issues.

For 9 bills, this was a big disappointment. After only 4 months the hard drive froze. Dell tried to tell me maybe I had a virus or maybe I was too hard on it. No, my last Toshiba laptop was 15 years old. I was so excited and now I am so sad. The speed is great but the rest of the PC is JUNK. Save your money and buy something else.

This is a 2 in 1 touchscreen 17" inch laptop that is light, thin and fast. It has an I7 processor and dual graphics that are detect they type of use (photos, video or games) and switches accordingly. It can be used as a touchscreen, onscreen keyboard, or as a regular laptop. Battery life is about five to six hours, depending on what you are running.

This Dell is the 8th laptop from a number of different manufacturers. I use it for business primarily but also for some entertainment. The screen is clear and bright. The keyboard is comfortable because there is a wide area in front of keys to rest hands. It is quick and lets me jump from one program to another without delay. I'm glad I selected this one.

Purchased the laptop while it was on sale, with the money saved I was able to purchase a 500GB M.2 SATA SSD. Did a fresh install of Windows 10 on the SSD using a USB recovery media created with the Dell Recovery application, then reformatted and partitioned the original 5400RPM 1TB mechanical drive, and now it is been used as a internal storage device..

This touch screen laptop allows you the benefits of a computer / laptop with the perks of a touch screen / tablet. It has a large screen and the graphics/colors are beautiful. I need to buy a new computer bag as the one I have currently isn't quite big enough for as large as this laptop is, but it's not that heavy considering how large it is. Fairly easy to carry around.

It is a very good laptop. It is fast , light and good looking. So far I have not found any problems with it. The only thing I do not like is that it comes with a 1T hard drive which makes it very slow. After I replaced it with a SSD, it is perfect.
