I think people that are complaining about this computer as it stands are not very knowledgeable about computer hardware, and that's the basic problem with this machine. It has an AMD A6 Stoney 7th gen processor for starters. You can think of the AMD A series in general as slow as snot by today's standards. Any of 'em. I got an A6 in my HP el cheapo laptop 6 years ago. If you want decent performance, get a Ryzen or possibly an A10. You ain't gonna get an AIO in this price range with these features with one of those though. Secondly, don't expect to run Windows 10 on an el cheapo processor like this with 4GB of RAM and a 5400RPM drive and not be painfully, nay, let's say excruciatingly slow. Puh-lease. If you want this thing to be blazingly fast, you must: -add another 4GB RAM or more (40 bucks or so) -replace the HDD with an SSD (512GB is about $60 now) -install Linux Mint or Ubuntu (free) you will then have a machine that runs lightning fast, stable, and without any issues at all. Otherwise, quit complaining, the slow performance is to be expected. Windows 10 is a huge pile of bloatware and spyware in and of itself and will always run like carp on hardware of this caliber. Period.

I'm going to attempt to give this a fair review, and I have given it 3 stars, and recommend purchasing in so long as you know what you are getting. This machine out of the box is slow and the updates it attempts to install in back ground make it slower. I fault the slowness of this machine on the hard drive which is a 5.2k 1TB drive. After removing the drive and replacing with a SSD the machine had acceptable performance. Stil sluggish until updates were finished. I use these machines as a self service kiosk which does not require a lot of processing power, however I do want fast boot times and a system that is responsive. Buyers are putting pressure on companies to produce machines that are cheap, and they expect stellar performance. They have to cut prices somewhere and on this unit it shows in the drive that they are using. I would humbly suggest that they cut massive storage space for a small SSD instead, although they would receive complaints about lack of storage space the performance increase would be worth it. WITHOUT REPLACING THE EXISTING DRIVE WITH AN SSD DRIVE I WOULD NOT SUGGEST PURCHASING THIS DEVICE

I cannot even begin to express my frustration with this computer. I purchased this computer thinking that the specs were impressive and could satisfy my needs, which were only simple word processing and searching the internet. Boy was I wrong. The computer could would take an inordinate amount of time to do anything, from starting up, to opening Word, to opening up Chrome, etc. Further, the internet connection was so slow on this computer. I have the fastest Internet available in my area. On my phone, which I just did as I'm typing this, I have a connection of 378.6 Mbps. However, on this computer, I never got over 100. Making matters worse is the non-stop ads that continuously pop up on your desktop because it is a Windows-based machine. I returned the computer within 5 days of owning it. It was that slow and horrible.

    Super Slow

I just bought two of these computers for my children to have. I opened them both up and set them up at the same time. PC 1 works a little slower than I was expecting, especially for a brand new pc. PC 2 is extremely slow. After I finally got it set up, it was running at 100% memory. Long story short, I ran a memory scan on both systems. With no other programs running, PC 1 said I had 1.5 gigs of memory available. Odd since it is supposed to have a 4 Gig memory card. PC 2 says I have 512 MB of memory available. That is after closing all programs and making sure nothing is running in the back ground. I was debating just swapping out the memory, but the thought of doing that on a brand new PC is just absurd.

I bought this computer just have in a common area for easy use (i.e. shopping, browsing, word docs, etc.) While the computer is nice looking and used wireless connectivity for the keyboard and mouse, it had some issues. After setting up the computer I found that the CPU and Disk were being utilized at 100% almost constantly without having anything other than the task manager open. I performed some recommendations found on the Dell forums to fix this issue but it never did. Just having a couple of tabs open would slow the computer down significantly. Though it has only 4 gigs of RAM, I feel this should not have cause such lag. We ultimately returned it and purchased another computer with 8 gigs of RAM and a SSD. If I didn't have this issue, we would have kept it.

Slowest computer I have had since the 90s

This computer had not even finished setting itself up before it maxed out CPU usage and ground to a halt. Yes, two tabs is the max. This computer has a response time of about 15 seconds to a minute when you click on a link, on a basic application like settings, or even when you try to open the task manager. Having 2 or 3 windows open? Not a chance, it times out trying to just move the mouse. Not to mention Cortana uses 28 percent of the CPU on average. Needless to say, it’s on sale for a reason. Yes, I did the fixes recommended and the computer somehow seemed to get slower. Kindly, I pushed through and made it to a website for my university classes and nearly crashed the computer trying to load flash player. Don’t waste your hard earned money because it’s cheap.

      Lewis,

We're sorry that your computer is not performing the way that you hoped it would. We'd recommend removing some pre-installed programs that you do not plan to use. Here's a list of suggested programs to consider: https://dell.to/2JruiaG.

If you'd like to remove any programs in hopes of speeding up your computer, here are the steps: Uninstalling or removing software or applications that you do not use or do not need from your PC can help speed up your PC. Applications may include background processes, system services, context menu entries and other things that can slow down your PC.

Uninstall applications you no longer need using Programs and Features (previously called Add/Remove Programs). Unnecessary applications occupy space on your hard disk drive.

      1. Press the Windows logo key + R on the keyboard.
      2. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key.
      3. In the list, select a program and click Uninstall.

We needed a computer for our office to basically run the software for a small security system that isn't allowed to be on our company's internal network. I'm happy to say this computer does the job well. It's very simple to set up--waiting on Windows 10 took the longest amount of time. Other than that it's very straightforward and done almost entirely with the touch-screen. The screen is bright and responsive, though with the design there can be a bit of a glare in a bright room. Otherwise the display is nice and suitably detailed. The touchscreen controls seem to work perfectly, though the mouse and keyboard are more than adequate as well for detailed typing jobs. If you need a basic Windows system and want a touchscreen this system works very well. It's budget-friendly, seems sturdy enough and responds quickly to simple commands.

I bought this computer with no sales assistance: no came to help me so I just picked it out based on price and name. How was I to know that this computer was about as slow as my old IBM 286. I kept thinking something was wrong with the set up. 2 hours to load Norton Security. Who would think that in 2019 anyone would make a computer this slow. I finally brought it back about a week later to Geek Squad to see what was wrong. Basically they told me there was nothing wrong but this model was never going to go faster. Thankfully, I was within the return period so I returned it and purchased something else. The computer is unusable.

The physical design of this all-in-one is great, and it practically sets itself up, but after that, it was all downhill. The processor is just not enough to run simple tasks. Opening a browser to download the single program I needed this computer to run was difficult. After downloading what I needed I realized that the processor was almost constantly at 100% and no tweak it adjustment to the system was going to help. This got returned in favor of another Dell with a stronger processor and it's like night and day. I wouldn't recommend this one even to someone who just used it for email and Facebook.

Just awful. What a horrible piece of garbage. We new the specs weren't great, but good Lord we still expected it to be better than our current Dell desktop which is more than a decade old and gives us tons of issues these days. This thing is the slowest computer I have ever owned. With absolutely NOTHING else running, it took 20 seconds for the web browser to open and fully start. I just took it out of the box, booted it up, tried doing the most menial of tasks, and now I need to return it. I will say it again, DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER!

We got this computer as a sign in kiosk at our senior center, where guests can sign up for activities, see schedules, manage membership, etc etc. Being nonprofit and having simple needs we went with a low cost model and saved a bit by doing open box certified. It came in the original packaging and started up fine, it's been working well for our needs. When getting it set up I noticed it was a tad slow when multitasking so I'm not sure if I'd recommend it for office use, but for light home use (or a situation like ours, one specific program vs multitasking) it is working well. The screen is very nice, bright and clear and easy to see.

I was extremely concerned about only 4 GB RAM but easily added an 8GB stick (has 2 memory slots and will hold up to 16 GB I believe) Anyway, for less than a $40 tweak, I have a "machine" and couldn't be happier. Actually, the computer functioned perfectly fine with original 4 GB but I knew I'd quickly outgrow that so I went ahead and added immediately. The picture quality and speakers are both phenomenal. Friends do not believe the quality of either so it hasn't been turned off much in past few days! I may change my mind down the road but after about a week, I feel like I made an excellent choice! One star removed simply due to low original RAM.

I purchased this box on sale as a cheap extra computer to do online tasks like gmail and watch streaming on occasion. After the setup and upgrades and doing what Dell recommended in other reviews complaining about speed I ended up with what amounts to a useless machine. Just navigating around gmail it took 20-30 seconds just to change tabs. Streaming any video on Youtube was impossible. Basically this machine is useless. I will be taking it back as soon as the factory reset is complete (still going after 6 hours)...even that is ridiculously slow.

I bought this all-in-one for a simple, minimal-wire setup to perform basic tasks. It fits the bill. I’ve had no problems with the mouse or keyboard wireless connections and although Windows 10 does take while to boot, the computer has been functioning well. As long as you don’t need rapid rebooting, can keep the computer on between uses (screen saver and sleep functions wake with keyboard or mouse) and you don’t require a high speed processor, this machine should do well for you.

The mouse is ok but I like my old one more. As for the all-in-one computer it is so slow! I am so disappointed! It is slow playing videos, loading a page or website, printing anything! I bought this as a house warming gift to myself because I've been needing a computer for a while, and so far, this all-in-one works very well for my needs. Primarily, I only use it when I need to look something up, download files and docs, or type something up and use a printer. It was processing everything really slow at first, but once I had everything set up, like the firewall/security, default browser, other devices like printer and wifi connection, it worked a lot faster and a lot smoother. For basic needs, it works wonders!

I bought two of these for employees. They seem to do the job just fine. The employees using these don't do any heavy computing so I can't attest to high functionality but they work great for internet, social media posting of business products, etc. The only thing I personally have noticed that I am not a fan of is how low they sit to the desk with no stand. If I were using it, I would purchase a stand as I like to sit a little higher and feel I would really slouch using this computer.

      Shah110,

We're sorry to hear about the troubles that you had with your new Dell computer. While you may not have installed anything on your computer when you contacted Dell Support it may be possible that some programs that were installed on your program before you bought it were slowing down your computer. It's important with your next computer that you look through any pre-installed programs to make sure that you plan to use all of them and if not you can un-install them. If you are using Windows on your next computer you can always run the Windows Performance Troubleshooter by following these steps:

      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard.
      3. Click Control Panel.
