I did not think I’d like it, but I do! This model I5490-7234SLV-PUS Dell Inspiron 23.8" Touch-Screen All-In-One with 10th generation Intel Core i7, 16GB Memory and 512GB SSD is reviewed on behalf of Best Buy. The price is $1200 as of 12-25-19. Look for a price drop soon. I’m an Apple-preferred computer user since way back in 1980, though I have had numerous Windows-based PCs all along. I thought it appropriate to check out this new model rig through the lens of an irregular Windows user, and I am glad I did. Going in, I was skeptical and dubious. How could a lowly Windows computer possibly compare favorably with my Macs? I love to say when preconceived opinions are WRONG. Out of the box, setup was a joy, actually fun. Clicking through the prompts, I was up and running in what seemed like no time. I like the Intel processor upgrade from earlier, slower ones. Why go for the newest and speediest available 9in this model), and not a new i5 or less? Even with everyday email and social media, streaming videos and seemingly simple tasks, having this 10th generation Intel i7 makes it a pleasure to multitask, with several things happening in the background, without choking. Trust me, the faster processor will translate into more user enjoyment of this computer for more years than one with a slower processor. That is not to say that this i7 processor is a speed demon. It is not. There are faster i7 series processors, but not at this price and not in this configuration. It is more than just good enough, unless the user is going to compose and arrange music or edit and create high quality videos. The pop-up camera saw me, learned to recognize me during setup and that was that. Waking from sleep or on a fresh reboot, I pop up the camera which recognizes me in an instant and I’m signed in. No need for a passcode, though there is one as a backup. Once I was recognized, I parked the camera back in its well. That way, no bad actors can get in and view what I have not authorized. There is no need to put a piece of tape over the lens on this camera as some users feel they must do. I am not a gamer, so I cannot tell you how well this Dell does in that department, but streaming videos is a satisfying experience. I watched a bit of The Irishman on Netflix and an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. The 24-inch screen placed where it ought to be in front of me on my desk provides a good experience. The matte-finish screen not only helps avoid fingerprints, it is also the right thing to have for viewing without glare or reflection. This Inspiron comes with a 12-month subscription to McAfee LiveSafe antivirus software, which is likely to be a bit better than the free Windows Defender anti-malware software included in Windows. After 12 months, users can decide what to do. I do not detect a slowdown from having this software activated. Also included is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office. If you already own Microsoft Office, you may wish to delete the trial from a computer and sign in to your Microsoft account to download your own Microsoft Office 365. If you are not a Microsoft Office user, look into whether you want or need Microsoft Office. There are FREE versions of compatible software doing similar functions as Microsoft Office applications. My picks are either Libre Office or G Suite from Google. Few consumers need the relatively expensive Microsoft Office product. These alternatives are compatible with anything you might need to do and with documents received that are from Microsoft Office products. If you are NOT going to use the pre-installed Microsoft Office trial, uninstall it with a right-click on it in the Windows menu OR from the Windows Control Panel. Uninstall anything else you know you will not use in order to save space on the 512 GB SSD. You may need the space down the road. My Dell Inspiron has all the ports and slots one could need, including and SD card slot for SD cards from cameras and other devices. If needed, buy an inexpensive adapter if you need to insert other, smaller cards. Streaming Netflix and other content looks great and sounds great, owing to Dell CinemaSound. Plenty of punch! Some purists think it best to get a computer that is not inside a monitor, not an all-in-one. I was among them. However, with the advent of reliable Solid State Drives instead of spinning hard drives, and with the more reliable computing hardware used in modern all-in-on computers, I see little reason to stick to separates today for most consumers. Why take up all that extra space? What about the touch screen? I was among the first to get an all-in-one touch screen Acer desktop computer nearly 10 years ago. Hated it! BIG, cumbersome, with touch-screen software that did not work and was not ready for prime time. How things have changed! In recent years, touch is well-integrated on these computers. However, touch is of limited value on a vertically-oriented screen. Think about it. Are you going to pick up your hand from near the mouse every time you want to navigate to click an on-screen object? Probably not, but it’s nice to have for those times you want to touch and go. I’m still a bit conflicted on this. How about you? Touch is perfect for tablets and phones. Are you going to draw with your finger on a vertical screen? Touch screen preferences aside, this is a sweet computer, so far. Once basic settings are made and you get to the home screen on any new computer, be sure to go into the Control Panel (on Windows PCs) and do all the system updates available until there are no more to do. On this Dell, there were five cycles of updates before it reported that all was up to date. In the brief week or so since firing it up, I am enjoying using this Dell Inspiron model I5490-7234SLV-PUS and recommend it to you without reservations IF IT MEETS YOUR NEEDS.

I've been using my new Dell 24 inch All-in-One for about a month. It came with a nice touch screen, 500GB solid state drive, and 16 GB of memory and 10th gen i7 processor. The Windows set up was done by Best Buy which saved me some effort. I find Windows 10 very quick in starting up and shutting down. I have access to the files on my old PC using a cloud service and it is working fine. Haven't tried the MS OneDrive cloud storage yet, but will do so if I need to. The tactile feel of the keyboard is very loose. The mouse is very good in tracking but it is much larger than the mouse on my old PC. Wireless connectivity of the keyboard and mouse makes for less wire clutter. The screen is very bright and displays text and graphics very well. I've not watched any videos on the system yet. Set up of printers has been very smooth with Windows recognizing my existing printers just fine. Network connectivity was very easy with my local router. There has only been one small hiccup after a recent Windows update. The PC wouldn't boot until I took the time to unplug the power cord and plug it back in. Then the system booted. Very strange.

Now that our school is closed and our son is learning at home we were looking for a computer to would that would be powerful enough to accommodate his online classes. This Dell All in One was the perfect choice for our tweens’ first computer. It was super easy to set-up. The sleek lines help keep the desk clutter free. The screen is a great size for videos and the images are so much clearer/ sharper than my computer! With 16GB memory- 512GB SSD and Intel Core i7- I can allow him to play games and movies too; bonus! Time for Mama to update her computer! We have not started school yet but I am confident that this will computer will meet all of his academic needs for many years. Well worth the investment.

We’ve had this item about a month or so & so far it has been amazing. Compared to our old computer, it’s super fast! Slick design, runs quiet & easy to setup. It connected to my HP Envy printer with no issues. My husband is military & it reads his CAC card without any issues. It’s definitely the most we’ve ever paid for a computer but so far it’s been well worth the money!

Searched for a while for a second AIO computer for our house with 24in screen. Already have one 34in widescreen HP Envy AIO. Would only consider intel core i7 and at least 16GB RAM and 512 GB SSD and AC WiFi card. This Dell came out late last year and fit the bill perfectly. And at a great price (<$1100). Very fast - great as an all purpose computer in main level family room. Operates smoother than the HP. Better value than comparable iMac. Highly recommended.

My old laptop died about a week ago, so I was looking for a new computer and came upon this one. I saw that it had a 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD in it and a bunch of other items I liked so I was very interested in purchasing it. I went to look at the reviews and to my surprise there weren't any!!! Now I know why. I went ahead and purchased it and when I opened it up the computer I found it was manufactured on 09/12/2019!!! Then when I got into Windows 10 Device Manager I saw that the drivers weren't installed until mid October!!! This computer is about as brand new as you can get!!! Now as for Windows 10 operating system, Dell didn't put ANY BLOATWARE in this thing!!! Something I really appreciated. This thing boots up really quick with that ADATA NVMe SSD!!! And the i5-9400 has two (2) more cores and is much faster than an i7-7500U CPU that is in an HP laptop that I use. I am so happy that I purchased this desktop esp. at the price point!!! I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a solid desktop with good embedded graphics capability too!!!

Nice looking, takes up very little room in the kitchen. Fast and reliable.

I had an HP laptop with an i-7 Intel core which changed my life in terms of speed and matching my tendency to keep 50 tabs open to jump around and I decided a wanted the same speed with a bigger screen for my old tied eyes. This Dell is it!. I don't think I can ever go back to a laptop. This Dell is super fast, allows me to have a dozen programs open, 50+ chrome tabs open while I'm jumping around multitasking and "zooming" all at the same time super fast. I love the pull up camera (I'm nervous about cameras and used to cover the lens with a sticky note but this one slides up for use and back down into a slot when not in use) and the built in sound is excellent. This is by far the best computer I have ever had. It is a bit pricy (about twice that of my HP laptop that was as fast) but it is an all-in-one and I don't for a minute regret this purchase.

Very user friendly. The thing I like the most about it is that it’s super fast from the time I turn it on until login screen. Touch screen works exceptionally well. And the best part, everything is in the monitor! No monitor and computer, but computer and monitor on one product!

I love everything about this All in One Computer. There is no mess of wires with this computer and it is super fast. It provides the desktop experience without the hassle of tower and web of wires. It takes less room on the table. The touchscreen is an added bonus and it turns on instantly. It is a great buy!

Great decision purchasing this over a laptop. I can easily take from office to dining room. I was on the fence, until I went into BB and used this computer. I have a small business making shirt and other things, so I do basic graphic designing using Silhouette or Cricut studio, and this computer gracefully moves between the different applications. My laptop had such a lag or would freeze, and this is smooth. The keyboard is very flat, but I am learning to deal with it. I love the glare free screen. This computer is lightning fast and incredibly easy to setup and install new programs. The one thing I discovered tonight is the ability to link your phone. I can check my texts, call log, make calls, see my pictures, and it was easy and fast to setup. The sound and microphone quality is also awesome. I could go on all day about this computer, but coming from a die-hard Asus fan - this computer is amazing. If someone has a complaint about it, they are looking for something.

Knocking on wood right now because when I write a good review - something happens, OK done! Love this Machine. Man is it fast. I work from home - as y'all do now too. Zoom meetings, Telehealth all day. Its great. Sometimes I have firefox, chrome, and whatever Microsoft is calling their web browser today open at once with multiple tabs, and does not slow down. The only glitch - is that every once and a while it freezes for just a few secs but I think that is the work software I am running in the background or our Telehealth platform, not the machine. EASY to pick up and move too. Just love this machine, gonna buy another soon Kudos to Dell - you got it right!

Very easy to use and has a screen that fits my needs. I have a laptop and have been using one for years, but this is faster and has all the products I need. Always been an HP user but am very satisfied with the Dell product.

Limited space on my desk so an All-In-One was a requirement. I like the silver look and the wireless keyboard and mouse feels great and match the look of this Dell. Easy installation and good value for what you get.

Our computer was a 2011 and on its last legs. Needles to say, the Inspiron 23.8" is fantastic! Fast, compact and very easy to use. And most of all, no wires! The office appearance is streamlined. Thanks.

Love this computer! The screen is the perfect size and it was so easy to set up! Quick, lots of memory and everything I could ask for in a desktop without the bulk of a hard drive.

This is an incredible alll-in-one computer. It is fast and has a great touch screen. But the kicker is it's stylish looking and sharp looking.

One of the best PCs I have ever owned. Nice design, great image on screen. Touch screen is very easy to use and it's all in one feature makes it easy to move around the house.
