Nice Package for Home/Office Use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell has a solid all-in-one package with the Inspiron 5490. Dell has armed the 23.8" 1080P IPS touch-screen display with an embedded Intel Core i7-10510U that offers solid quad core, hyperthreaded performance for basic to medium complexity tasks. This machine is not some kind video editing workhorse or video gaming monster. It will however surf the web, run Office, and playback media with ease. The overall unit is very compact and stylish. By placing the legs wide the keyboard can be slid underneath to make more room on a desk or counter. It also has 3 USB-A 3.0 ports, 1 USB-C, 1 USB-A 2.0 port, and an HDMI input and output on the back. Last, but not least, it does have gigabit ethernet to complement the wireless connectivity. The display offers good color reproduction thanks to the IPS panel, but contrast does suffer. Black level isn't the greatest, but still a solid showing. Overall display uniformity was very good on mine. Brightness is average, but could stand to be a tad brighter. In my office with a great deal of ambient light it doesn't feel very bright at maximum setting. The 1080P resolution at 23.8" is right at the edge of what I consider acceptable in terms of pixel density. It is certainly not as sharp as I would like it to be, but still very usable so not really a complaint. The only real complaint I do have is around the anti-glare coating. It is a bit too heavy in my opinion which leads to somewhat fuzzy text. I have certainly seen worse, but my LG 4K panel is far better. The processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD provide a very robust, speedy system so overall performance is great and considering what the expectation of this computer's use would be it is spot-on. Geekbench 5.0.4 reports the 10th gen processor single core performance 1246 and multi-core at 3391. To put this in perspective, my 9900K gets 1323 on single core and 9248 on multi-core. Keep in mind the 9900K has twice the core count and clocks faster. So the quad core processor does an admirable job given it is an ultra low voltage part. AS-SSD reports read/write performance of the SSD at 1609MB/s and 795MB/s. So far from the speediest of NVME drives, but significantly faster than a traditional SATA SSD or conventional hard drive. The system feels plenty snappy and I really have no complaints regarding performance. The built in speaker does a respectable job in both output quality and volume. It isn't a full-on replacement for a good set of speakers, but if room is a premium they will do just fine for most use cases. The all-in-one is equipped with Bluetooth and 802.11AC WiFi. I did see some issues with the WiFi reconnecting after bringing the computer out of sleep. Sometimes I would have to restart the wireless adapter to get it to connect. Strangely it isn't a consistent problem so I am not entirely sure what the cause may be. The included mouse and keyboard are both wireless and white to match the computers aesthetic. I am not really a fan of either as the mouse is too light for me and the keys on the keyboard are very mushy. I would look at upgrading both to something more like the Logitech MX wireless peripherals. Overall, the Dell Inspiron 5490 is a solid all-in-one with the chops and style to be a long term member of most any family for day-to-day use. If you need something more heavy duty look elsewhere, but that wasn't what Dell intended here either. The 5490 does a great job of being the everyday machine.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this all in one pc. There's nothing bad to say about this computer. (Ok, I don't care about the white keyboard and mouse, but they're wireless so I'll take it). I had this computer for a couple of weeks and it is great. Core i7 and 512 solid state drive makes this more than sufficient for my needs. We use it as a family computer so the kids are also using it and they love it. Saves space in the kitchen too. Dell usually comes through in a good way when it comes to desktops anyway but they knocked it out of the park with this all in one.

An excellent home/home-office computer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I searched several months this fall for an AIO replacement for my several years old AIO, the major criteria were SSD storage, 16GB or more of RAM and recent generation Core i7 processor. I chose the Dell - Inspiron 23.8" Touch-Screen All-In-One - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD – model 5490-7234SLV-PUS. I wanted an AIO for the convenient desktop size with a display larger than a laptop. The new Dell boots up and starts tasks several times faster then my old AIO system thanks to the SSD. The new exterior design is a refreshing change, white with narrow display bezel and wide stance stand which is actually more stable then the more usual pedestal design and frees up even more desk surface for example you could store the wireless keyboard under the system when not in use if you wanted to. The 1920 by 1080 display quality has fine detail, bright colors and dark black. The sound is louder and better than the one on my old AIO although not theater quality, for video conferencing and calls it is excellent. One aspect I don't care for is that all IO ports are on the back of the display not accessible while seated in front of the system. All of my previous AIO systems had a USB port and a Media (SD card) port on the side of the system that was easily accessible while seated in front of the system. After looking at the Dell model on display I bought a USB 3.0 Hub to add to the Dell even before the system arrived. Front accessible ports are uncommon on the current generation of AIO systems. The new Dell looks to me like an excellent home/home-office computer it has a modest desk foot print an excellent FHD color touch display and sound system. In my experience Dell has a well earned reputation for durable computer products and good product support and I don't hesitate to recommend the Dell Inspiron 5490-7234SLV-PUS to anyone considering an AIO.

Love my Dell PC AIO!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, let me start by saying that I did not buy this unit from Best Buy but from Dell directly. Having had it for just a few weeks, I have truly fallen in love with it! I already knew going in that it didn't have a DVD drive so that wasn't an issue for me. As others have already said, the computer is dead silent and very speedy thanks to the 512GB SSD. I may upgrade to a larger 1TB SSD in the future as SSD's seem to be going down in price. Haven't really decided yet. The screen is beautiful, the sound is exceptional and the keyboard and mouse are adequate. I don't seem to have any negatives for this unit and do recommend it highly! Having come from HP and not really caring for Dell much in the past, I must say that Dell has finally up their game with this one. 5 star review for sure!!

Couldn't ask for more
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Dell all-in-one computer is the best one I've owned. The screen size is great at 23.8" and fits on my roll-around computer desk perfectly. The screen tilts easily for optimal eye level. It would be nice if it tilted back just a bit more, but most of the time not needed. Of course one of the best features is that being an all-in-one, there is no need for a separate tower, which eliminates cords and reduces space requirements. This computer comes with every port you would need including 2 HDMI, 4 USB, ethernet, SS, speaker plug and an SD card slot. The keyboard and mouse are simple but function really well. This is a very fast computer and setup with Windows 10 was extremely easy. The only issue I had was learning how to "turn on" the webcam. There is a little red tab by where it pops out, so I tried to pull on the tab. That's not the answer...is all you have to do is push down on the camera "tray" and the camera pops up (I felt a little silly not figuring that out right of way). The webcam quality is fairly good and there is a Camera app for switching between video and still pictures. Overall, this computer has a clean look and the performance is great.

Dell Inspiron
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great state-of-the-art computer. Easy to startup and use regularly, great RAM, solid Dell, however unlike the old boxy computers this thing broke on me very quickly. Be careful when moving, easily destructible from moving or jostling.

Fast. Quiet, easy setup all in one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably the smoothest setup I have ever done. Runs very quiet and fast boot up. The White color makes it look very bright in our work area. Seems to be the best price for what you get. The only thing I can say negative is keyboard is cheaper than others I’ve had from dell but works great. Just very light weight.

Dont be an IDIOT like me and waste ur money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer SUCKS. Bought it 2 weeks ago and its already opposing problems, heres 10 reasons you shouldnt get this computer: 1)WAYYYY OVER PRICED- 1,000 dollars for good storage? Cmon. 2)Bluetooth doesnt work.-I tried to hook up a bluetooth keyboard, and the blutooth settings werent helpful at all!No matter how hard we tried it didnt let the keyboard connect. Ended up having to get a wire for it. 3)It lags 25/8, Cant even play roblox without it lagging. It stated in reviews that it was good for some small games, well i guess not. 4)My computer turns itself off and on. I turned it on and walked out of the room for 2 minutes and it had completely over shot itself. A black screen with a movable cursor and thats it. It has been like that for 20 min before it finally tunred itself back on 5)My computer opens things on its own. Every time I X out of something other things will be open. 6)Its an all in one, if one part breaks the whole thing will need to be replaced 7)I noticed that it minimizes alot of my games. Like I was playing on SSO and it cut the screen in half so that it didnt fill the whole screen. 8)Isnt protected! Ik alot of computers dont come with virus protection, but cmon wasting 60 bucks for macafee on a crappy computer is stupid 9)RELYS COMPLETELY ON WIFI- My room is a bit from the router but not that far. Even 3 bars wont garruntee smooth web quality. 10)Its overall not reliable. I cant trust it not to break, all bc the whole workings in the back, I have no idea where what. Plus, it uses a lot of storage.

I wouldn't buy it again, but I would buy it via BB
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I would never buy directly from DELL again. Customer service/technicians don't know a thing and are reading from the manual along with you as they help. Do Best Buy if you are going to buy this. I also run a Dell Inspiron 13 laptop side-by-side with this and it has basically the same specs, and the tiny laptop kicks this AIO's butt. Also, beware that the USB-C ports do no support video and if you are a heavy port-switcher, you are going to have to get behind this or flip the whole thing over to switch ports. I wouldn't buy it again.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had so many issues with this computer. Wheh its working well, I love it. But I have had to spends hiurs upon hours working with someone in India to fix the super slow processing. At one pont they even replaced my hard drive. I do not store anything on it. I pay a monthly fee for service. Now I cant use it because of the speed issues and they want me to back it up, uninstall yhe operating system and reinstall it. Who has time for all of this????? I run 2 businesses out of my home office and a good computer is vital. That's why I bought this one. But I have had to use my laptop to survive. I even moved the router ibto my office so this computer could be directly connected. It wouldnt hold a connection long enough to print anything. Though my laptop has no issues. And I plugged my printer directly intonit as well. I've never been so disappointed in a product before.

Internet wifi adapters
Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer for 2 months.. I have had to call tech support with Dell 3 times because the wifi adapters fail during internet operations. watching a video shopping or whatever. The first time I called the support guy spent 45 minutes getting the computer to connect to the internet. The second time it took 15 minutes. It keeps happening randomly for no apparent reason. Now, I have been told it is a software issue with Dell but that I have to pay a $99.00 fee to have it resolved. Their standard warranty does not cover software issues even though the computer had those issue from the beginning. BEWARE
