Have only wver supported HP and recently purchased an ASUS but someone gave me a Dell in 2020 and ive enjoyed using it since that i recently purchased 2 more! Great laptops and the use of ease is great.

For the price it is amazing! It’s a bit laggy though but still works well.

Looks pretty good windows is kinda weird im not a fan of the changes but thats not the computers issue its a windows issue

This is not the type of notebook I'd usually get for myself, it, on the surface appears to be an entry level notebook. And with only 8GB ram (not upgradable) and 256GB m.2 SSD (upgradable) and this new'ish Snapdragon 8cx G2 CPU, I really did not know what to expect. It ships with Windows 11 Home S edition. This can easily be changed to the full windows home edition. Windows S only allows apps from the Microsoft store to be installed. That wont work for me, as the first thing I wanted ot install was Google chrome. So good bye S Edition. I also wanted to upgrade the SSD from the 2230 single channel SSD that the unit comes with to m.2 Gen4 Samsung 850 Pro (2280). To do this you must disable Bitlocker that comes enabled by default. It took about 10min for the decryption to be completed (I don't plan to re-enable it). I then installed CrystalDisk to see what the read perfomance of the installed SSD drive was. I got what I expected about 2000mb/s read; max for a Gen 3 SSD would be 3500. for a gen 4 it could be well over 6000. I then cloned the installed SSD to my Samsung 1Tb SSD installed in an external USB SSD case. It took nearly an hour. This Dell had 8 philips screws than needed to be removed/released (4 stay in place), the plastic back then needed to pryed off. The only thing upgradable inside the case is the SSD. The battery can easily be changed if necessary. The SSD has a room for a 2230, 2240 or 2280 m.2 SSD. Dell has a simple aluminum heat spreader on/over the SSD. Two smaller philips head screws, and the SSD can be easily removed. I then installed the 850 Pro SSD with a copper/graphine heat spreaded (3mm), which should be an improvement over the originally installed aluminum head speader. I made sure it booted, which it did, before screwing it back together. Now I rebooted, and all looked good, back to CrystalDisk Sequential reads were 3500mb/s. Not what I'd hoped to see, but almost double what I started with (not to mention 4x the space). But even thought Dell's service manual says the 3420 supports gen3 & gen4 the BIOS (which is VERY limited) currenly only supports gen3 speeds. I guess this could change with a future firmware/BIOS update, as the hardware seems to support gen4. I considered re-imaging to another 1Tb SSD (gen3), but decided not to. Now some great news, the time to boot the 3420 was now less than 3 seconds. Quite remarkable. I did find that some software could not be installed as it was expecting a windows 64 bit, some how it got a response tht told it differently. I tried installing Microsoft Office (2019) and it gave me errors. I deermined the errors were caused by Office 365 being installed to begin with. I removed the 3 different office365 version and the 3 versions of onenote. Rebooted, and the install of office with the SnapDragon CPU went perfectly. This is was a suprise, I was not sure that older software would work correctly with this CPU, and without Windows S. Well no issues. And Chrome a with gMail worked pretty swiftly, not much different than my i7 12th gen Intel notebook. Draw3D with a large image seemed somewhat sluggish in loading. But streaming video from YouTube worked fine, as did with movies from VUDU (I do have Gb connection with wifi6). I confirmed the 8cx CPU does in fact have 8 cores (running at 3.?? Ghz). With "nothing" running about 3.5GB ,of the 8GB memory is still available; I wish this could be easily increased, that would make this a REALLY surprising machine. The touch screen looks good and works very well, the trackpad is a nice size for a 14" notebook. The keyboard is pretty average, it's not backlit, it's a little soft, with no tactile markings on the keys. But the battery life looks to be excellent. I did not do any extensive tests, but it looked like, with periodic use, +12h would be achievable with minimal usage like browsing the internet. This is a really good budget notebook, if you can live with its limitations; 8Gb memory limits running many applications at the same time (or Google Chrome or MS Edge having many tabs open). The stock SSD is not very good, or sufficiently large. But with m.2 gen 3 drives becoming cheaper weekly, a 1Tb drive is now under $80. I can't recommend a gen 4 drive until the firmware is updated to support the faster speeds, in which case the performance of this "little" notebook will get even better. For the price it's a good deal that could get even better.

The Inspiron 3420 14” touch screen laptop is ideal for getting quick work done on the go. The design is simple yet sleek. With its lipped hinge. allowing a rise in the keyboard while in use. The storage is a meager 256 SSD and 8 gigs of memory. So I’d recommend doing cloud based work and not saving many heavy files, such as videos and music. The body feels very premium, with a brush aluminum aesthetic to it. There are two USB type C ports, one USB-a port, a micro sd card reader and a headphone jack, for those coffee shop moments. There’s no fans in this machine as it is running a Snapdragon Adreno 690 graphic. So this won’t be playing anything other than mobile style games on your down time. The camera is definitely a very good one, so this is ideal for video chats, meetings or even selfies. There is no backlighting on the keyboard so working in dark areas is a no-go unless you know your keyboards like blind pianist. Speaking of visuals, the screen is full HD and has a mat-like finish, making it very comfortable to use outside and in sunlight. Very little glare on this one and I believe the brightness is pushing 300 NITs, so that should get the job done. The touch screen is very responsive and is compatible with most stylus options out there. The track-pad is more sturdy than last year’s model. And the battery life is great. Charging takes no time at all. he charging brick is only 65w so that'll charge just about anything with a type c charging port. And with being said, you should be able to use just about any type c charger to give this little guy power. So this an easy one to recommend to that on the go grinder. And anyone that has needed an extra pc and doesn't really want to delve into the chromebook world.

I bought this as a gift, and the Operating System comes in this new horrible setting called Smode, which is basically a trap way Microsoft gets you to only use their products and they act like they are protecting you from the evil AVG, Chrome, Firefox, or any of those other malicious apps and programs meant to ummm. compete. Took some time but finally figured out how to revert to Windows 11 home. Set the laptop down to eat, came back to it a couple hours later and now it is acting like there is no operating system or harddrive and it needs a product key to even reboot. I've had it. What type of new laptop makes you work this hard. I'm taking it back. oh, and the keyboard has no backlight. hahahahha

Over the past few years, when computing on the go, I have mostly stuck with Chromebooks for their portability, quick boot times, and affordability. This Inspiron model from Dell provided me with all that I like about Chromebooks, but also provided added versatility that you get with a Windows OS. Pros: - The 14" HD display looks great and is a perfect size for me to enable both portability and productivity. - The inclusion of a solid state drive helps this laptop keep a slim form factor and I loved the fast boot times that it provides. I'm used to Chromebooks booting up in seconds and Windows devices taking up to a couple minutes. The Inspiron 3420 boots up incredibly fast and retrieves files faster than hard drives that most people are accustomed to. There is also less drain on the battery with a SSD which seemed to help extend my battery life during my first few days using this laptop. I was pleasantly surprised to go a full day without having to plug in. - This was the first laptop with a Snapdragon processor that I have used and I felt it was more than powerful enough to keep me running smoothly. Paired with 8GB of RAM, I was satisfied with how quickly apps launched and the ability to multitask. - The price point for this laptop is good, considering how solid the specs are. Cons: - The solid state drive is relatively small (256GB). You can upgrade this if you like, and many people use cloud storage these days anyway. But be mindful of this if you plan to store large files locally. - While this laptop does include a touch screen, it will not fold all the way back so that you can use it like a large tablet. Overall, this laptop is a great option for anyone looking for a versatile, low-cost, and extremely portable Windows-based device.

2 time I started the computer is not working want a refund

Does not disappoint. Great battery life. Great performance. I'm just waiting for more ARM software to be available. But for what I use it for it's awesome. I even started gaming a little bit. I wish it had more ports, but since it's so portable it's replaced my tablet. The dedicated keyboard is solid. Touch screen is smooth and clear. Price was perfect for this setup.

This was an impulse buy but I'm glad I did. Quick set up. Mainly purchased to get a taste of windows 11 before upgrading my desktop. Plus the old laptop is getting on in age. I did not know that Snapdragon processors were a thing outside of cell phones. It responds quickly and has a great screen. I've been very pleased so far.

This laptop is a perfect fit for my needs…going back to school in my late 50’s, while I also work as a teacher during the day, I need something streamlined and easy to take with me while I’m on the go! I love the touchscreen feature and the screen size is perfect. Definitely recommend it for home and work usage!
