Looking at this computer, you would never know that underneath all that, it is a bit unique. First of all, the central processing unit (CPU) is made by Qualcomm and it is called Snapdragon. Microsoft has modified Windows 11 (that is installed on this computer) to run with it. It is pretty transparent to most users until you try to install an old program which may not work – and have to have certain settings adjusted (so it will work.)
First of all, it is initially set at the S mode. It means it only allows programs from Microsoft Store to run, and you would have to get out of this mode to use/install you on programs. This isn't hard to do because you basically follow a couple of prompts – but there is no way to go back once it is converted. (I personally have not the needed to revert back to the S mode.)
One program that I tested that would not run correctly was an old program made by Corel called Ventura Publisher. It was created to work with Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP. Generally it works with Windows 11 64 bit by running compatibility mode two windows XP, and copy over a DLL file, but with this computer, another setting had to be changed and it was very deep into a menu once you right-click the icon of the program. I experimented with a few different settings and finally got it working.
Nowadays computers (or even software) don't come with printed manuals – so you would have to take the time to do this. Microsoft Windows aren't exactly easy to set up for someone who has never used a computer at all. To change a certain setting (and I'm talking about Windows 11 since the start menu is in the middle of the bottom of the screen now, to change it to the left side, it is deep within the "settings" menu under the control panel. Some people may be frustrated because of this but it is no fault of Hewlett-Packard.
I also install a voice dictation program called Dragon Medical – it doesn't need a very fast computer to work as it could keep up with voice to text translation in real time and with a slow computer, the words will eventually appear on the screen – this computer is fairly fast and it works fine.
The screen is very clear, and the speakers works great and I was able to watch that show (YouTube/Netflix) with no problem.
Doesn't look like the battery is easily replaceable but this machine should last for long time. The batteries post last four hours and once it was fully charged, I used it on the battery for four hours and still it was working fine.
The computer is very light, and it is very easy to carry around. There is a 3.1 USB port to the left and 3.0 USB port to the right. The power supply itself is something I don't really care for because the plot is the USB port and if you plug this into a device, it may fry it. (I verified that the voltage coming out of the transformer is higher than 5V.) So you have to be careful.
But the part that really bugged me was the power button which was right next to the delete button. It could be accidentally pressed and since I changed the shutdown procedure (under the control panel/power settings), when the power button is tapped (not held down), my computer was shut down (as set by me.) It is something you have to keep in mind not to accidentally press it.
But it is a very workable computer without the dedicated graphic GPU. A couple of programs that I installed reported that there was no Intel or Nvidia graphic on it and thus these programs will not take advantage of that – one even crashed (refused to run). If you know that this computer is not made to play games or to use to render videos, you will not be surprised. It really is very suitable for general Internet surfing, watching movies online (there is no optical drive), and even voice dictation if you have that program or to use Google Document/speech – it is fast enough for it.
Recommended? Yes but hesitated because of the limitations I mentioned above.

Only one USB port - very annoying. I cannot have mouse and printer plugged in at the same time (optical mouse still needs the port for the adapter).

Out of the box this is a slim and small unit that will be easy to take along for most any kind of journey without weighing things down too much. This is a laptop and not a tablet in that you cannot flip the display fully over onto the back. Having this feature might be cool but honestly I rarely use in in my convertible units and they cost quite a bit more.
This is perfect to fit on the table in coach class on a plane or other small space. As far as power and speed this is not going to be my workhorse for my huge excel files nor do I plan on installing photoshop either. However, for basic computing, video streaming, email and the such it is perfect.
The light weight os, Windows 11 Home (S mode) makes for fast boot time and long battery life. The back of the screen pivots below that bottom when open giving it a little rise. I am not sure this angle improves ergonomics but might for some people. I do like that the charging connection is through a USB C cable. This is always a plus as it makes for easy compatibility with my other portable devices eliminating the need for extra proprietary cables.
The unit is very quite as there is no fan which is accomplished by power-efficient processing that apparently reduces system heat. One thing that helps with this is the solid state drive. AT 256 GB, it is not a monster but I feel it is adequate for the tasks for which this unit is meant. It also has a built in media reader which I find to be very helpful as I do still use a dedicated camera for some photo work and being able to view and upload such files without a separate reader is nice. The media reader can also be used as extra storage should you need it and adds flexibility.
Initially it feel solid in the hand but with closer inspection the bottom of the case is plastic and is not as ridged as I might like. Holding it while open by one corner can activate what is perceived as a click on the touch pad that can halt your youtube playback. This a minor issue but one that separates economy units such as this from more sturdy and pricy modals.
The touch screen is very responsive and easy to use for navigation. The image is bright and pleasing to the eye. Sound quality is acceptable and clean but lacks real depth. The easy solution is to use ear buds which would be my typical mode as I consider this above all else a machine that is easy to transport and one I would take on the road.
All in all this is a good value for basic computer users or a great second machine for travel.
