This laptop is beautiful but very fragile. With very careful and light use, the screen cracked within a month. Neither Best Buy nor Dell was willing to help with it. Buyer beware. I wish we had bought the damage coverage but honestly feel this damage was a result of flawed design.

This laptop was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a small lightweight laptop with good RAM and memory. This laptop has all that and more. I like the touch pad for unlocking, power on went opened, and backlit keyboard. It really is perfect for my needs.

    Difficult to see

Bought this Dell Inspiron 7306 about a week ago and it has not disappointed. Laptop is very fast (i5 evo), plenty of store, great quality and good looking. Initially I had a problem with the fan and could not find it under Power Option. Turns out you need to go to Dell's software application, settings, power management and set it to "cool" and go from there. Once I set it to "cool" I did not have any issues and did not hinder any performance whatsoever. The display is really good and much better than their "lower" end Inspiron's. My ONLY con at the moment is the keyboard. It is kind of hard to see under a room with bright light unless you turn off the backlight. Not the end of the world but it is something to think about. Bought a $6 keyboard cover in black on Amazon and makes a whole difference! Other than that, I am very pleased at the moment and could not ask for more.

      MacRepair,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the issues that you've had with your computer so far. We'd recommend searching for updated drivers to help with the volume control issues that you're having: https://dell.to/37hSuJl.

If your computer continues to overheat on you we'd recommend the following tips:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.

Lastly, if you are still having internet issues you can try these steps:

      1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
      2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
      3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
      4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
      5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
      6. Power ON the Dell system.
      7. Open Network and Sharing Center
      8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
      9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
      10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
      11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
      12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
      13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

      Bryan

I bought this item in used - "excellent Geek Squad Certified" condition. The laptop is great! A very well built aluminum casing with a high-quality keyboard, coupled with a narrow screen bezel and the latest 11th generation Intel processor, makes a great user experience! The laptop is fast, the touchscreen is very responsive, and the overall experience very positive. However, "excellent" condition has to be taken with a pinch of salt; there are visible dents on the bottom casing, the screen was not cleaned at all, and the laptop was poorly packed before shipping. The good: build quality, number of ports, 11th gen Intel system. The bad: visible dents on the bottom of the laptop, even though the laptop was marked as a condition "excellent."

Love this little machine. So fast and the battery lasts the entire day while working from home. Replacing my Dell XPS all in one purchased in 2014. It still works but is way too slow and needed a reliable computer working remotely most of the time. There is one thing that I don't like and that's because it only has one usb port but still giving 5 stars all around. Since I use a separate keyboard and mouse, I had to learn how to use the mouse on the laptop to get it set up since it took up the only one port available. And if I have to transfer files from a flash drive, again, have to use the laptop mouse pad instead. This is my first laptop as I always had desk top computers but still happy with this purchase. Lastly, I love how small and portable this machine is!

I was torn between a MACbook or this laptop and at the very last minute, Dell was my final choice and I am so happy with it. I love this laptop more than I thought I would. It’s the perfect size and has so many features to personalize it just how you want it. My favorite is being able to turn it into tablet form! Just overall so impressed with it. I was able to get this laptop when it was on sale for $699 or $799 and glad I did because I would honestly not pay full price for it. I was trying to decide if I wanted this or a Macbook for college and I decided on this but I should have went Mac. The screen hinge on this, looks like it could snap off like a toothpick any day but I am glad that I took out the 3 year geek squad coverage on it because I have a feeling that I will be using it in the future but I love the part that I can use this as a tablet also. And, that is the reason why I decided to get this laptop and not a Mac because of the tablet option. But if you decide to get this computer, make sure you get the extended warrantee and I did ask the person and there is not a deductible for claims when the screen gets shattered or the hinge snaps off in the future like some people has already mentioned. It has a lighted keyboard which is nice but the keyboard seems cheap to me, but like I said i am used to a MAC so going windows is a transition in itself but I would definitely recommend this laptop because it is super fast but like I mentioned earlier, definitely take out the geek squad coverage because its not IF you need it, it will be WHEN

Excellent computer that meet my business needs moving into semi-retirement and consulting. Compact enough to throw in a briefcase for traveling, but has the horsepower for a at home docking station and projection to a larger screen. Always had a company issued Dell that I was use to and worked like a champ. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" . Looked at converting to a Mac or a Surface Pro, but the additional cost, conversion parts and transition just not worth the risk to me. Happy with my choice!

Compact size--I don't know if that is good or bad at this point. Hard shell--stainless steel--I think. Fires up quickly. Shuts down quickly. One of the biggest misses, in my opinion, is that this laptop comes with only one USB (C) port and no Ethernet adapter. I switched back to LAN line internet in my home years ago. So when I brought this home thinking I was going to be able to set it up quickly I wasn't able to. I had to buy (relatively inexpensively . . . but still and additional hassle and expense . . . or two) a USB Type A ethernet adapter AND one USB C hub with additional USB Type A ports for external hard drives, keyboards, mice, etc. If I had read up on my USB drive technology I could have just purchased a more expensive USB C or Type Aport that had a ethernet port on it in addition to additional USB Type A ports. Otherwise this is a decent laptop.

First call me old school. I like being able to see and test a computer in the store where I can compare it to other models. This 7000 series felt superior to others on display in its class. Very happy with its compact size and light weight. Same screen size as an older 7368 model we have in the house but significantly smaller size. Very good performance as well.

Very good overall. Starts up quickly, only takes about 15 seconds to go from off to windows login prompt and by the time I login it’s connected to WiFi, taskbar is fully populated, etc. Screen resolution is very nice, so is color quality. Touch screen is a nice feature. Keyboard markings can be difficult to see under some lighting conditions. Would be nice to have a simple way to easily turn off the touchpad since I use an external keyboard and mouse (previous Toshiba laptop had this). I’d recommend this for anyone looking for a nice general use laptop-I’d buy it again.

    Great laptop

For the money, this laptop feels sturdy, and has decent pep for the price. It has enough RAM and disk space to meet the needs of normal users, and has some impressive features like the touchscreen, backlit keyboard, i5 processor, and styling that eerily resembles a Macbook Pro. Nothing about this laptop felt cheap although I'm not a huge fan of the color matched keyboard, but that's just personal preference. I purchased this product for a family member that has basic computer skills, but likes laptops. I would definitely recommend this laptop for the price.

Bestbuy staff was very curteous and helpful answering questions throughout my decision making process. Purchased this for a relative as an upgrade to an older Dell model. Lightweight, easy to set up 2 in 1 laptop with touch screen monitor. Features include intel core i5, 512 GB memory, 8GB ram, and finger print scanner for easy access to the computer.

    Good Overall Computer

Good computer. Lightweight. Quiet. Mousepad not as smooth as it should be. Otherwise, it's great for watching movies. Sound is wide. Keyboard is good. Some people complaining about keyboard but it isn't that bad. Wait for a price reduction as I did. Microsoft operating system. Nothing to brag about. How long have they been in business now? Every year there are issues with their browser and Windows platform. Due to the business applications I use I need to remain with Windows operating system.

    Pros mentioned:
    Ease of use

As much as I want to give this laptop a great review, I have unfortunately had issues with it freezing right out of the box. I’ve had it for a couple days now and cannot work on it for more than an hour before it completely locks up and forces a hard restart. Overall it’s a really nice laptop, but the freezing issues will likely cause a return for me. I think overall the issue is probably QA related and not reflective of this product line, but disappointing nonetheless. Pros: - Lightweight - quiet fan - screen colors are great - keyboard feels nice and fluid when typing - fingerprint scanner for biometric access - opens applications quickly and overall runs well - setup is voice guided and super easy - Solid build, feels like a quality laptop Cons: - My machine freezes, of course - the backlit keys are difficult to see in the light. The led keys do not contrast well with the silver color of the keys. Turning off the led lights in a bright room is a must. - the rubber on the bottom is slippery, and the laptop slips a bit on wooden or smooth surfaces

      Jorsan,

Thanks for your review and we're glad to hear about all of the things that you like about your new computer. If you'd like to diagnose the freezes that you're experiencing with your computer you can try these steps:

      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tW5m33.

If you'd like to adjust or turn off the backlighting on your keyboard, here's an article you can read: https://dell.to/3bOZUV2.

      Best,
