Great Student laptop

Finger scanner iffy sometimes but can type in my password and still get in. This was a replacement for an older model purchased July 2020. Under Geek Squad protection I got this replacement because the previous had mother board issues starting out. I use it for college work and works fine.

Went to BestBuy & the salesperson was excellent. I finally came home with my new MS Surface Pro 7... under 13" & very easy to handle. I'm so very happy with my new Surface Computer. The service & very knowledgeable Salesperson made the difference for me to walk out with a great new small laptop!

Needed something to do work from home on. So after talking with the salesperson I bought this laptop. BB had a great sale going on and I was able to save major $$ on this laptop. My previous laptop was good, but the new one blows it out of the water. Speedy, great screen image, speakers on this smaller laptop sound better too.

This Dell was not what I expected

I bought this laptop mid March, battery life sucks, it does not last. I use it a lot for work. I took it to the Geek squad because it started glitching ( my chrome takes forever, microsoft teams will take forever) and was overheating, it even smelled like something had burned. Geek squad kept it for a few days and said everything was fine. I wish I could get a replacement, I do not want my money back, I need a laptop for work, but 1400 plus dollars was too much :( It is the perfect size though. I do not use the pen.

2. In the Run dialog box, type Control and press the Enter key on the keyboard.

Chrome Crashes Constantly

I should mention that I am a former IT professional who decided to go back into the classroom. In our district, we use Google Classroom, which uses Google Meet. The first day everything worked great. I really liked the laptop. That night, I ran Dell Update and installed all of the updated, which included the flashing of BIOS. The next morning, during class, Google Chrome stopped responding. I had to force close it through Task Manager. I restarted Chrome. Same thing. I went through this at least 20 times over the next several minutes. I went into Dell Power Manager and changed the thermal setting to "Cool". I eventually shut it off while the kids were at Art class and let it cool down over lunch. I also installed Core Temp to monitor the temperatures. The rest of the day it was fine. This morning, same thing. Chrome kept freezing, even with just one tab open. The temperatures were pretty normal, typically in the 50s celsius. The CPU and memory utilization were both below 40%. Today, the freezes kept happening into the afternoon. I shut down the laptop and was able to teach class through my gaming PC and my iPad. I ordered a laptop with a discrete graphics card during my lunch and will return this one once the new one is ready for pickup. I really liked the trackpad, stylus, display, and portability. But if it can't handle Google Meets, it's useless to me.
