Chrome Crashes Constantly

I should mention that I am a former IT professional who decided to go back into the classroom. In our district, we use Google Classroom, which uses Google Meet. The first day everything worked great. I really liked the laptop. That night, I ran Dell Update and installed all of the updated, which included the flashing of BIOS. The next morning, during class, Google Chrome stopped responding. I had to force close it through Task Manager. I restarted Chrome. Same thing. I went through this at least 20 times over the next several minutes. I went into Dell Power Manager and changed the thermal setting to "Cool". I eventually shut it off while the kids were at Art class and let it cool down over lunch. I also installed Core Temp to monitor the temperatures. The rest of the day it was fine. This morning, same thing. Chrome kept freezing, even with just one tab open. The temperatures were pretty normal, typically in the 50s celsius. The CPU and memory utilization were both below 40%. Today, the freezes kept happening into the afternoon. I shut down the laptop and was able to teach class through my gaming PC and my iPad. I ordered a laptop with a discrete graphics card during my lunch and will return this one once the new one is ready for pickup. I really liked the trackpad, stylus, display, and portability. But if it can't handle Google Meets, it's useless to me.

Multiple Shut Downs

The screen is beautiful when watching videos and the speakers are very loud. The reason I rated it so low is because of two issues: 1. Battery life. On a full charge, the laptop barely made it 4 hours before hitting the 20% battery saver mode. 2. I bought the laptop on New Year's Eve. Over the span of a week, the laptop would randomly shut down (RAM issues) and would reset. This happened 4 or 5 times for me and I would lose all of my work. I exchanged it on day 8 for a Microsoft Surface laptop. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear that you decided to exchange your computer. In the future here are some tips to extend your computer's battery life:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

We'd recommend checking the update settings on your computer in the future if you face shutdowns again. You can set your automatic transfers to only run when you're not using the computer and therefore it should not shut down in the middle of your using it.

Everything in a laptop I was looking for

Fast processing speed, great screen quality, small enough to travel with yet large enough to view the screen with great sound and user friendly. The angle of the laptop screen lifts the bottom just enough so it stays cooler in temperature than most flat bottom laptops. In addition this battery life seems to be about 14 hours.

Something glitches on the screen and went back to BestBuy for a replacement within the two weeks guarantee. Customer service is excellent. Replacement for the computer is at parr. Maybe we just got unlucky with the first purchase(defect), but the replacement is what was expected, efficient and perfect for my highschooler.
