Great laptop in every aspect! HOWEVER...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I've bought this laptop a month ago, the change volume and brightness keys never worked. Somebody give me some pointers? Thanks so much. The settings seems normal and everything works quickly. The battery is enough for a five hour class on zoom, with some Googling. This charges fast and keyboard feels nice. While on Zoom and even while typing this, it does heat up a bit at the base of the computer. The fans aren't loud, except for when it's charging and using the laptop at the same time. Really light weight and materials used feels nice. In terms of volume and sound quality, it seems really immersive. Done some light gaming on Roblox and laptop is holding up. Overall, seems pretty good.

Good except for battery charging
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give it a 4 out of 5 as I have had had issues with the charging of the laptop and have had it sent out a few times for repair, but other than that an excellent device. GREAT for homeschooling as I can make it into a tablet and a TV screen making school anywhere possible.

Great all around daily laptop

Medium to medium-heavy use, 2 yrs. Alive, but slow

Don’t think I’d say it’s good for constant use, as college, at least not for span of a couple years. Bought it like March 20 2021, started lagging like ends of 2022. Still alive, sure. But if it’s medium, to like medium-high even, use of files and internet tabs usage (not talking about gaming), that’s something to think twice about.

Best laptop ever :D woowooo

Its so fast and its perfect for gaming on if you add 8gb of ram. I can run genshin impact, roblox, the sims, minecraft, practically anything as long as its on low settings! I definitely recommend! Fans are on won't shut off when you get them but just update them in settings right when you get the laptop and you should be good after a couple resets! :) Does run a bit hot when playing games but like, what do you expect? Its not a gaming laptop but its still a really good for playing games on it. Fans aren't loud at all. brightness isn't very bright, at least to me but its alright! Battery is good, touch screen is good. And overall it feels pretty solid and very good for its value! Add an extra ram stick and it'll be perfect for playing games on! :)

Great laptop

I mostly use it for my college work (Master's in Elementary Ed), but I also downloaded Hulu, Netflix and plan to do some gaming on it. Very durable build to which is good for me, as I've had some instances of breaking screens on my computers in the past. I feel this laptop is definitely worth the value you get from it!

Could be Worse

First, it was the mic, then the wifi. I'm already expecting something else to give out in all honesty. The driver issues are easy to fix but are fairly inconvenient, especially if you're a student and use your laptop daily. The cursor lags and freezes the screen sometimes as well. I don't know. For this price, I'd expect a more reliable laptop, but it could be worse.

Thanks for your review and we're sorry that your computer has not been performing as well as you'd like it to. We'd recommend the following steps to diagnose the freezes that you're experiencing:
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

Battery sucks

I've used poorly made computers, I've used slow computers, I've used loud computers. This was somehow the worst of all of those categories. The camera stopped working within a week. The internet would constantly disconnect with the only way to connect it again being to restart the laptop. The touch screen worked but has very limited compatibility. The computer would get so hot from just watching netflix that I am sure it did damage. The max charge the battery could hold was 4 hours. 0/10 would not recommend, I have heard slightly better things about the non-touchscreen models though.

Please make sure you have downloaded the latest system update and that software you are using meets all system requirements. I have provided a link to the drivers and downloads page where you can check for any applicable updates for your computer.

To help with WIFI connection issues, I have provided some resolutions below. I have also included the full article link, which has more options if they are needed.
1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router, and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
4. Power ON the Modem and wait for it to boot fully.
5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router and wait for it to boot fully.
6. Power ON the Dell system.
7. Open Network and Sharing Center
8. In the left-side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
9. Right-click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net

Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. To help with battery issues, we recommend changing the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.
