Mouse pad stopped working one month in

Oh also a somewhat weirdly dim screen that I didn't notice until after I purchased it and started using. Colors off? Someone else mentioned it here, like the night light feature on a phone. I should have believed it but I didn't notice it in the store.

We want to thank you for your valued feedback. We apologize for the trouble you have had with the touchpad of your Inspiron 7415. I have provided a couple of quick fixes for this issue below, along with a link to the Touchpad Usage and Troubleshooting Guide.
1. Ensure that the touchpad is turned on. For more information, see Dell Knowledge Base article Disabling or Enabling the Touchpad on a Dell Notebook
2. Ensure the touchpad and your finger do not have any dirt, grease, liquids, or food on them (the touchpad has to make good contact with your finger to work correctly).
3. Save any data, close any open programs, and restart the computer.
*Do not touch the touchpad until the computer is booted, as it goes through a calibration process while booting.

Dumb dumb dumb

Subpar Screen

Thank you for your input and review. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your display color. We have provided steps below that can help adjust your color depth through Windows 10 if needed in the future.
1. Close all open programs.
2. You can either right click Start, and then click Control Panel or click on start and type Control Panel and click the icon that appears.
3. In the Control Panel window, click System, and then click Display.
4. Select the monitor you want to change, if more than one is connected to your PC.
5. Click the Display Adapter Properties link.
6. Select List All Modes.
7. Choose your resolution, color depth and refresh rate from the list and click on OK
8. Click OK again to exit the properties window.

Light weight and easy to set up!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 14.0" Touch-Screen Laptop is one of the lightest laptops I have owned. It is light on weight - which makes it so easy to carry anywhere - but it does everything I need it to do and more. Dell can connect to your smartphone so you can answer calls and texts from your laptop. It is easy to customize - because the notifications can become overwhelming. The battery life is long lasting and has been impressive thus far. I utilize the laptop with Microsoft Office and it was very easy to install my subscription. The touch screen is easy to use and is not over sensitive. One of the nicest features of this laptop is that is folds into a "A" or all the way into a tablet which makes it great for watching videos. This is a great computer for a student. I would not recommend this for a gamer.

Bad quality keys/touchpad, no touch-keyboard

I exchanged it for another unit - whose touchpad is rather insensitive. The physical keys feel generally flimsy and cheap (even when not sticking). In "tablet" mode, windows 11 touch-keyboard simply won't launch (despite various recommended changes in settings) - which renders the touch-screen and 2-in-1 mode useless. A workaround is to install a 3rd party touch-keyboard (with all the privacy risks involved). Overall - a bad experience with Dell Inspiron.

Thank you for your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issues you have had with your Inspiron 7415 2 in 1. Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

A solid laptop for every day use!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The AMD-equipped Dell Inspirion 7000 is a good choice for a laptop in this price range. The three main hardware benchmarks I look for in a laptop in 2021 were met here. You get a 7 series CPU, 16GB of good RAM, and at least 500GB of SSD storage. As long as that’s the baseline, you are getting a laptop that can tackle the vast majority of daily tasks for most people. The display on this laptop is 14 inches which I think is currently the sweet spot on laptops. With modern laptops getting such thin bezels, 14-inch screens feel tiny when transporting, but roomy for doing productive work. The display has no real cons that I can tell at this price point. I especially appreciate that Dell used IPS technology on this display, which makes viewing angles excellent. Thanks to the display being 1080p, you get good battery life. I didn’t do anything to try and prolong battery life. Meaning, my display brightness was around 50%, and did various tasks. I got right around 10 hours of battery life. Honestly, for a laptop at this price point that’s excellent. The keyboard and trackpad are extremely good. The keyboard has good feedback and travel. The trackpad is way above average for a laptop of the price point. I can’t believe how overlooked trackpads can be when people shop for laptops. On this one, you will be very happy. It's quite large, feels good, and has a great click tactile response. The sound from the speakers is about as good as you can expect from a 14-inch laptop. They are pretty loud and clear. They are better than most other laptops I’ve heard of in this price point and size. Overall, there are plenty of good reasons to buy this laptop. It has a bunch of extra goodies like a fingerprint scanner on the power button, the display flips 180 degrees to go into tablet mode, and all the important parts get a passing grade. If you need a good work, school, or home laptop, this Dell can easily fill those jobs for you.
