After about two weeks of using this laptop I’ve had a chance to get to know it pretty well and I really like it! I’ve been using it for all of my normal computing tasks including some lightweight Steam gaming, video streaming, and web surfing. The first thing I noticed when using this computer is how zippy it is! It’s much faster than my previous laptop with webpages, apps and programs opening and running instantly when selected. The next thing I really took a liking to was the size and build of the laptop. It has a sleek profile, nice color and great keyboard layout with a fingerprint sensor button integrated as one of the keys in the upper right hand corner of the keyboard. The screen resolution looks really nice for not being 4k and I appreciate the almost borderless widescreen. My only complaint about the screen is that it doesn’t get as bright as other laptops/tablets I’ve used. I’ve adjusted the Dell Cinema Color settings, as well as other display settings, and it doesn’t get any brighter. It’s probably a comfort thing or a battery saver or maybe Dell telling us that we don’t need to look at such bright screens when sitting so close. Either way, it was worth mentioning but not a deal breaker and I will get used to it. I love the keyboard and mouse pad on this laptop. The keys are responsive, feel great and look great with the backlighting. The mouse pad has a chrome outline that reflects the light of the screen, giving it a nice look. The touch screen works great and using this as a tablet when on the go, moving rooms, etc, is extremely handy. I love being able to go from desk to couch with a flip of the screen. The sound is fantastic. I used to connect my old laptop to a bluetooth speaker, because I couldn’t stand to listen to the poor audio, but not anymore. The speakers are loud and clear with decent base, good mids and highs. It sounds really good compared to a lot of other laptops I’ve used. Overall this is a great everyday use laptop that can handle most tasks in a flash. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new mid range, dependable, mobile laptop to use around the house.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback and response. We apologize for the issues you have with your touchpad on your laptop, and understand how frustrating this can be. We would love to assist you as soon as possible. Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:

Here are the recommended steps for troubleshooting your curser issue:
      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      11. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.

Such a disappointment with this laptop. I bought this laptop on a deal when it was $799. Was super excited since it had amazing specs for the price and also the build quality was pretty decent. One week after using it, I had a screen flickering issue. I exchanged that unit for another one and two day later I got a fan error and the fan was making a insanely loud noise. Just don’t buy this laptop or wait for newer models to come.

This is my third Dell laptop, and I've never been disappointed. This is the first one that I've used with AMD chips though, and it doesn't miss a beat. The laptop feels very solidly built, although it is on the heavy side compared to other laptops in the same class. The thing I'm most impressed with is the display. Color are very rich and vibrant (although only HD and not 4k) and the screen does very well in natural sunlight of reducing glare. I'm not sure if the credit goes to the screen or the AMD Radeon graphics card, but it's great. Here's a list of pros and cons based on my use: Pros: - Great Display - Keyboard has great feel and the backlit keys are easy to see in dark settings - High quality speakers - reduced border around screen compared to previous Inspiron models - Fingerprint scanner works every time to unlock compute (as compared to the roughly 50% rate of the face scanner) - AMD chips are very high performing - USB-C charging - Full range of ports Cons: - Heavy - Not easy to open. The top is heavy and there doesn't seem to be any place to put your finger for leverage. - Only one USB-C port so you can't charge and use a USB-C device at the same time - Doesn't have the most modern look Overall, really great laptop. Highly recommended!

The hinges broke after 1 year almost to the day, and now it's going back to Dell for a $200+ repair. Other option is to junk it for nothing, or use it as a boat anchor but it doesn't weigh enough for that. 2 in 1 bad design that Dell doesn't stand behind. A $1000 computer should last more than a year right?

Loud and freezes. This laptop has froze multiple times. It is missing an MS store icon in the system tray after resetting it. The volume mixer won't open. Windows pop up and disappear. Froze during reset. The help I found for fixing and updating is way more complex than I want to deal with on any computer, let alone a brand new computer. The sound from the fan made my ears ring. I am going back to Lenovo.

      Hi HLBJ,

Thank you very much for your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issues you came across with your Inspiron 7415 laptop because it is freezing up and the fan is too loud.
Below I have provided a list of solutions for the freezing issues, along with a link to the full article, should you need further information. We also recommend making sure your BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have given you a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your computer so you can check for and do applicable updates.

      Resolutions
      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

You can read the full article here: https://dell.to/3rTldMZ

      Drivers and Downloads Page: https://dell.to/3CxAVEy

To help with fan noise I have provided steps to run a pre-boot diagnostic test that can help.

      1. Restart your Dell PC.
      2. When the Dell logo appears, press the F12 key to enter the One-time Boot Menu.
      3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
      4. Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
      5. If the test fails, ensure to write down the error code and validation code.

If your issue with fan noise continues this article can be used to further assist: http://dell.to/38XbfCV

After utilizing the troubleshooting options provided, if these issues are not resolved, please feel free to contact our support team here: 1-800-624-9896 for further guidance.

We needed a new general use laptop to replace a 5 year old machine that is barely limping along these days. I decided to give the Dell Inspiron 7000 2 in 1 a try. I have to say, thus far, I am not disappointed. I’ve owned many Dell machines over the years and they always perform well and have a long life. I expect the same from this machine. I am an IT professional and have purchased and services hundreds of Dell machines over the years. In general, they are a good solid brand. So, into the details. Out of the box this little beauty looks fantastic. It’s sleek and slim but has enough weight that it doesn’t feel like cheap junk. The 2 in 1 lid design is fantastic. When you use it in laptop mode, the bottom bezel drops below the bottom of the case and slightly props up the laptop, providing excellent air flow. It continues to flip around into a stand if you want to watch shows or have it more upright to draw. Finally, you can fold it entirely flat and use it like a tablet. It’s very versatile. The screen looks great. You don't really need more than Full HD in a 14" screen in my opinion, but I guess that's a matter of opinion. It's plenty bright, and the AMD software has some nice presets that adjust the graphics card and screen for different viewing preferences like, vivid, sports, classic cinema, etc. The touch screen is responsive. I haven't noticed anything that I don't like about it. My unit didn't come with a pen, but I'm looking forward to picking one up so I can create some digital artwork in my spare time. I like the feel of the keyboard. It does not have a full number pad, but that’s not something you will ever find on a 14” laptop, so no big deal. They are small chicklet style keys, but they are responsive and I don't notice any missed strokes or double hits. One odd thing is that the function keys on the top serve dual purposes…controlling sound, screen brightness, etc…but they are defaulted to their secondary function rather than a standard F Key. I think I will like it eventually, but all my other laptops were always the other way around, so it’s taking me a bit to get used to. The back lighting of the keys has 2 brightness levels and off. That is nice in a dark room. The only thing I don't love about the keyboard is that the power button is right next to the delete key. Because the power button doubles as the finger print scanner, it doesn't have any label or backlighting. You essentially can't see it at all when using the laptop. it is easy to hit it by mistake when reaching for the delete key. I had to set the power settings to do nothing with I push the power button so I didn't accidentally put it to sleep in the middle of something. I’m really impressed with the sound quality. It is surprisingly loud and clean. It doesn’t have a ton of bass, but you really shouldn’t expect that in a package this size at this price point. I am totally satisfied with what it kicks out. It has a respectable number of ports. You get 2 standard USB ports (one on each side) as well as a USB-C charging port, single headphone/mic jack, mini SD card reader, and an HDMI port. Nothing on the back because of it's fold flat tablet design. I love that this thing uses a standard USB-C connection to charge. No weird proprietary power brick jacks. If you need more than that, some simple/cheap adaptors will fix you right up. There is no DVD drive, so be aware that if you have older software or want to watch DVD’s, you will need to pick up an external USB drive. I find the performance of the machine to be excellent. It boots up in about 10 seconds and is ready for you to log in. I spent about 2 hours setting it up. I stripped down some of the extra stuff that Dell ships on their laptops that I know I’ll never need. Then I added all of my own security, productivity, photo and video editing software, etc. Finally, I ran all of the Windows updates and then the Dell Updates. It has a nice Dell utility to look for, download, and install hardware/firmware updates. I recommend running it once in a while just to look for new drivers and firmware. You should know that this machine does not have a dedicated graphics card. It uses on board graphics that share the system RAM. The graphics are quite good for what they are, but you should not expect to run high end games on this unit. I tested it with Fortnite. On low settings with max render distance and max 3D resolution. I was able to play very well at 50FPS even in build fights. As you can tell, even with a game that isn’t terribly resource intensive, you have to keep the setting pretty low in order to get a good frame rate. I’m not knocking the laptop. It preforms very well for onboard graphics. Just know what you are buying, or you are going to be disappointed. This is not a gaming rig. Expect to use minimal setting on pretty much any newer game. I suspect it simply won't handle some of the top graphics intensive games on the market. On the flip side, the processor, RAM, and SSD are really snappy. I was able to load my Photo and Video editing software quickly, and all my modifications were smooth and responsive. The render time for my videos was respectable for this type of machine. I was impressed with the battery life as well. I did not do a full run down test, but I streamed a full HD video from the internet for a full 95 minutes in full screen mode. The battery was still showing 80% with nearly 6 hours remaining. You definitely won’t have any problem watching 2-3 full length feature films on a single charge. So, the bottom line is that this is a great option for general use. It is strong enough to handle some mid level photo and video work, even a game or two on low settings, but it’s still very portable. Basic word processing, spreadsheets, web surfing, social media, and video streaming work very well. If that’s what you are after, you will not be disappointed.

I have really enjoyed using this laptop so far, it seems to have the quality I have come to know and expect of Dell and they did not disappoint on this one. I like how low profile but ergonomic this laptop is. It is a very nice looking laptop but not all looks, it has the power and the functionality to go along with it. One of the first things I noticed and was so happy about was all the ports on the sides. So many laptops are coming with less and less ports these days and I can't understand why. I love that there is an HDMI, and 2 usb ports. I have already used those. I'm thrilled that there is a micro SD card reader, as a semi-professional photographer that will really come in handy. Also nice that there is still a headphone jack and you are not forced to use bluetooth headphones only. I also really like the light up keyboard, and the fingerprint scanner for fast login. I feel spoiled now compared to logging in to my other computers. I think it was a very nice touch to have the built in camera cover. Gone are the days of putting some tacky paper cover over the camera for piece of mind. One of the first things I checked when using this laptop was the screen quality and sound quality. The screen is just so so, it is okay as far as sharpness, but the colors are not that impressive. It just seems very dull and lacking in a range of color. I have tried making adjustments in the settings but so far have not been able to improve it. The speakers are okay, not spectacular but they will get the job done when needed. I really like the fact that I can make this laptop deal with several hefty tasks at once and it does not get super hot or noisy with a fan running. I installed Adobe lightroom that I primarily use for my photo editing and on my older laptops, the computer would instantly slow down, and the fan would kick on at full speed and not turn off. But this laptop runs the program faster, and shows no signs of being under stress, I have yet to hear a fan noise come from this laptop. Overall this is a very nice laptop that I would recommend to most people. Unfortunately because of the lacking screen quality and color, I do not think this will be a good photo and video editing computer. I have tried it but the colors and quality are just not good enough, I had to switch back to my desktop to see what I was working on and be able to actually see my changes. This laptop would be great for so many other people though, people that do not need a spectacular screen display.

This 2 in 1 laptop fits great in the small size laptop area. As a 2 in one it can operate as a regular laptop, folded over to be a tablet, or in a tent mode, free standing on a surface. The CPU is 8 cores operating at 16 threads. 16GB of memory is enough for most applications with no issues. The 512GB M.2 drive leaves plenty of room left over for programs. The 14" screen has very small bezel making use of most of the space available. The screen looks great, and the touch is responsive to fingers, or a pen if you want to use one. The camera has a great feature, a built in cover. Just side the switch over and the lens is covered. No stickers or add-ons needed. The heat dissipation is good and exits out the back of the unit through 2 vents. You can hold it in tablet mode in between the vents to avoid the heat directly. The GPU is built into the CPU, do it can do light gaming at 1080p with no issues, but nothing heavy. The screen looks great for working on documents and watching videos. The two speakers on the unit are decent laptop speakers. Connecting with a Bluetooth headset is also a good option. With 16 threads and 16GB memory, it's a fast machine. The M.2 also keeps load times of anything to minimum. It charges from a USB-C port, 65W. I attached a USB-C hub with more ports and GB ethernet, and it worked with no issues. The wireless AX connected easily and at full speed. The built in HDMI and USB ports give you enough to connect and view to other devices as you want. You can secure the device with the power/fingerprint reader for quick log ins. Setting up the laptop was easy, the windows install goes quick. Dell has not included a lot of bloatware, mostly McAfee, and you can remove it completely and easily through add/remove programs. Once I did, it never came back and I got over a GB of space back. One thing I really like about Dell laptops is the ease of replacing internal parts. A few screws and you can access the memory, M.2 etc if you want to swap anything out. I plan on upgrading the M.2 to 1TB. The laptop is quick, versatile, and has all the current connections you would want. The screen size makes it's portable, and it's not heavy. If you want an all-around easily carriable laptop that can still get things done, this is a good fit.

    Thin, Light, and Powerful

The Inspiron 7000 is a great laptop, portable enough to take on the go whenever you need, but also powerful enough to hammer through productivity tasks. The addition of Ryzen laptop processors on the scene has really changed a lot of things in regards to how thin and light a laptop can be while still maintaining a solid level of performance. This one is an APU, meaning it has embedded graphics. While they're not going to power the latest games at full graphics, they'll definitely suffice for some light gaming sessions, and also add a lot of value to media creation tasks that benefit from the use of dedicated graphics (without the downsides to having a dedicated GPU in a laptop). My main usage workflows include the typical web browsing/email sessions, but also some light, hobby-enthusiast level media editing in Photoshop (photos), Premier (video), and Reaper (audio). In general, I've found the Inspiron 7000 to perform very solidly for the market it's competing in; very few slowdowns and generally enough power to not hold me back (which is a good thing in the media editing world). Overall, this has enough power for the vast majority of cases out there for anyone not in to professional level media editing. The main drawback is that it seems to run slightly hot, which is confirmed by semi-frequent, fairly loud fan noise. It's more or less the reality of laptops, though; you either prioritize slimness and sacrifice performance for the sake of cool and quiet operation, or you keep a level of performance and handle the heat with aggressive active cooling which adds to the noise, which is the case here. I prefer the second option. Overall, this is a great laptop, with lots of functionality and potential, given the performance, portability, and added touchscreen operation. The Ryzen line of chips are a great option in laptops, in many ways superior to the Intel alternatives, just as they are in desktops in 2021.

I have been using this laptop now for about 3 weeks and feel this is a solid all around laptop for standard productivity tasks and entertainment. One immediate complaint I have would be the amount of "bloatware" aka useless DELL branded software on this laptop was fairly absurd. I got rid of about 14 different applications that were pre-installed from Dell. No idea why they have gotten so bad about this, I am certainly not the only one to mention how absurd it is. The Ryzen 5700u processor is a solid 8 core/16 thread processor. Its a 15w TDP processor targeting extended battery life, so not necessarily meant to be a gaming or rendering powerhouse. Both performance and battery life have been far more than sufficient for normal tasks. Able to stream entertainment for hours and hours on a single charge. Good supporting hardware with 16GB of DDR4-2666 ram and a 512GB SSD. Really perfect specs for anyone just needing a laptop for MS Office apps, travel, or general internet browsing and streaming. Better options for those that want to render video or game. Size and weight wise this is a decent package from Dell. 14" screen size is great for travel or frequent use on the go. Being that this is a 2-in-1 it is a touchscreen 1080p display, compatible with windows ink for digital pens. So far the hinge for the 2-in-1 function feels sturdy so no immediate concerns over durability. Has a webcam in the correct location at the top of the screen, have not used it yet to comment on quality. The chassis overall feels solid without much flex. The keyboard is pretty good in my opinion but the trackpad isn't great. The size of the trackpad is pretty good but I find it to be inaccurate and clunky to use at times. Power button is a finger print reader as well that you can use with Windows Hello and has worked well.
