Don't buy this if you're a university student

It only lasted me about a year which sucked because I needed it for school. The overall build quality feels very poor. The display doesn't get very bright, the battery didn't last long, and the hinges moved the screen a lot while I typed. I liked that the screen was glass at first but I started to hated it when I realized how much glare it caused. I had to get the keyboard serviced after a few months because the function keys (alt, tab, caps lock) stopped working altogether. A few months after servicing, the trackpad eventually started getting caught inside the computer and this made it impossible to to type anything without random clicking happening. This was awful when taking tests. In the end, I ended up just getting a different laptop charged to my tuition account through a program at my uni. Overall this laptop caused too many headaches to be worth the price I paid for it and I don't think I'll be buying another Dell product again.

PROS: powerful specs. compact for travel. Gr8 Memory. CONS: Fans are too noisy. Bit too pricey unless you are buying it on a sale. Too small for when you do need a bigger screen. No Backlit Keyboard is a big flaw. PS: Have to be extremely careful not to get any charging cable in between the hinge, it is basically a design flaw that it is susceptible to catching cables in between and then breaking apart.

      Hello Abacus,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad that you like some of the features of your Inspiron 7415 but we are sorry to hear that you have come across some issues with it.
Below I have provided steps to run a pre-boot diagnostic test that can help with fan noise:

      1. Restart your Dell PC.
      2. When the Dell logo appears, press the F12 key to enter the One-time Boot Menu.
      3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
      4. Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
      5. If the test fails, ensure to write down the error code and validation code.

II actually returned an HP I just bought to get this Dell at the same price. I am a fan of Dell, they seem to make quality machines at affordable prices for the most part, and their computers last. The computer I use now is a Dell and it has been great (i had to change out the battery after a year and a half but it keeps going). I bought this new Dell as a work computer and am very happy with the upgraded processor (i7 equivalent) and the additional hard drive space (512gigs). This PC has no problem running all my programs for work, including being simultaneously signed into a virtual computer. Very happy with this purchase

DO NOT BUY DELL! The hinges break from simple opening and closing. Dell says not covered. Do your homework and save yourself some money! All over the internet. Dell says you are responsible for opening and closing the laptop. How does that make any sense? Buy a Lenovo with solid hinges!!!

I have had this computer for about a week and can say it’s a solid computer. I’ve mostly used it for school and can say it’ll do a good job for all my assignments and any work that I’ll make it go through. My only dislike of this computer is the graphics card which can only run you lower tier games. So don’t buy this computer thinking it’ll be a good gaming laptop. Everything else about the computer is solid, would definitely recommend if you’re not into gaming.
