Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We are happy to hear you are enjoying your Inspiron 7506 2 in 1 with the exception of the keyboard lighting. To help with the keyboard lighting issue we suggest disabling the backlit keyboard when you are in lit areas. Below I have provided the steps to disable the backlighting and the full article link.
Backlit keyboard options in BIOS
1. Click the + sign next to System Configuration.
2. Click Keyboard Illumination.
3.* Disabled or Off - The keyboard illumination is off.
*Dim - The keyboard illumination is at half brightness.
*Bright - The keyboard illumination is at full brightness.
4. Click Apply, and then Exit.

My New Laptop

Dell Inspiron

Disappointed

The button to turn the machine on must have been defective! Fortunately, I purchased the Geek Squad Service and they were able to help me. The first time I brought the Dell back was because Microsoft was unable to update itself, it took Geek intervention, then I had to bring it back because it did not turn on. That time it took 3 of your Geeks to be able to get the machine turned on! My life had been taken over by waiting in line before Best Buy opened so I could use your Geek Walk In Service for a brand new computer! After being at the doors at opening every day for a week, I needed some time off. Unfortunately, the computer would not turn on again and I was back to your Geek Service once again. A very nice and capable young woman by the name of Mandy tried to turn the computer on and it wouldn't start for her. She took it into the back room and they couldn't start it either. She contacted a manager to take the computer back and said I should pick out a new computer. I asked Mandy if she would help me pick one out and she said yes! Thank you Mandy. My new computer is an HP which is what I wanted to begin with but was unable to purchase because I was told they were "sold out" with no time eta for any HP's. I do like my new HP. As is the case with my older computer, a Toshiba, the HP has a tiny light that comes on when you touch the button. Dell has NOTHING to indicate that the machine is even "thinking about" starting! Special thanks to Mandy for her kindness in helping me make the decision to pick a different brand of computer! I was more than discouraged when I arrived at Best Buy for my appointment so her act of kindness toward me was much appreciated!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that you had issues with updating Microsoft and your Inspiron would not turn on. We know how upsetting this can be. We are glad to learn to know that the Geek Squad was able to provide you service. If needed in the future, we have provided steps that can be used to help diagnose and troubleshoot the issue.
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

Good Laptop
