The unit arrived yesterday in a timely manor and so far seems to be working properly, at least while I was setting it up. I have two (2) issues with this transaction. First, the packaging was lacking. For the price charged I expected it to be packaged properly. From what I can tell 25% of the original packaging was missing and while BB's policy is to "Typically contain original packaging" it would have been good customer service to provide enough bubble wrap to prevent the laptop from bouncing around in the box! At least it was double boxed, still with minimal bubble wrap. On a positive note the unit does not appear to have any outward damage. My second issue if far less tolerable, this machine reeks of cigarette smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The box stinks, the laptop stinks and the power supply stinks. I do not understand how this represents "Professional Cleaning". As I type this, the power supply, which was cleaned twice is now outside in the sun, hoping to dissipate the foul smell, The box is also outside airing out as I am still undecided on my course of action, otherwise I would put in the recycling bin. The laptop, which I did clean last night (just the outside, not the display or keyboard) still stinks and as I do not want to put outside is now airing out near an open window. Needless to say, while I was hoping for "new computer" smell, my reality is far worse. What are my options?????

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the overheating that you're experiencing on your new computer. Here are some tips to help cool down your computer while you're using it:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

The audio output has what appears to be a ground loop flaw, where it hums, then makes popping noises. I exchanged it for one of the same model, and it had the same problem. Because I use it for audio, I could not live with this problem. In my experience, audio circuits that are noisy do not last long.
