    Work/Business Use

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this Laptop for work/business use. At my previous job I had a newer 15 inch Dell Latitude (the OG) with no special bells or whistles, but everything you need in a business laptop. After getting a new job in January, my new employer told me to go pick out whatever laptop I would like (to my surprise). I scrambled my first week because I needed a laptop ASAP, and with a shortage amongst stores and no time to wait for an online order I ended up with this Inspirion 7506. The first reason I chose this model, is I had to have a numeric keyboard. Which is HARD to find. This laptop could be used for business use or home use. Biggest differences & features between this and the Latitude series (3000 series etc). - Battery Life. This laptop has about half the battery life compared to the Latitude series I had before. It was something I immediately noticed and I was quite shocked. I assumed it would be better given a newer model and year. I would absolutely not buy this laptop if you do not have access to power at any given time. - Touch Screen. This laptop has FAR better resolution, which is to be expected. I myself, do not need the touch screen, or superior resolution to work. But I do think it would come in handy for presentations and many other uses depending on the type of business. -Finger Print. The basic business laptops don't have these. It's not a necessity. But so far, I love this feature. -Ports. The biggest THORN in my side by far, after the battery. Only two USB port with this laptop, compared to three. I told myself it wasn't a big deal, till I needed three again. -Price. Due to the additional features, this is a more expensive laptop vs others. It moves fast, and I have no operating issues with the computer. All in all, I would've still ordered the Latitude 3520 over this. It's still a great laptop, but if you are looking for something purely for work use, get the better battery and extra port features that you will need on the 3520. Unless you need the 2-n-1 feature.

      Hello KristieE,

We are sorry to hear that your Inspiron is not quite meeting expectations and apologize for the inconvenience. We suggest performing diagnostics to determine what may be causing the issue. Provided below are instructions to do so.

      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

I bought this laptop for work and home use. Though I like the size and feel and everything works fine, I was disappointed enough in the display to return it. It is not bright enough, and the colors are off...a little greenish-sallow. Compared to my little surface tablet, the colors look sickly. Since I intend to use a new laptop for years, I am returning for a similar HP model.
