Nice 2-in-1, but then this is our first 2-in-1 ;) For our use this computer is overkill, but I always try to "over buy" when it comes to tech. Screen is nice, bright, clear. Touch screen works MUCH better than I was expecting, keyboard is probably average for usability and layout, storage is wonderful (I have run quite a few benchmarks), CPU power is good for our use, I would not say a gamer could use this machine, but we don't hit 100% utilization often (if ever). The Dell software is hit or miss. They have a Dell update service that no longer functions on the machine. During one of the updates it killed itself (stopped the service) and won't recover. Can probably download the update software from Dell and reinstall, maybe I will at some point. So overall not perfect by any means, but given all the pluses and minuses it come out a 4 (above average) for us. By the way I am a tech guy with a ton of experience dealing with computers of all varieties, so I am used to working through issues. My wife? Not so much ... I am pretty sure this would have been in the garbage by now if I was not able to work our the quirks for her. :)

BSOD is too much of a problem

I'd love to be able to write a review talking about how great this laptop is and how much I love it (because I really do love it), but it has a very bad problem with Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). I never bothered trying to exchange it because I learned almost immediately that this issue is very common with this model. I paid a very premium price for this laptop, so that's very disappointing. It happens at least a few times when I'm using it for extended periods, so I've learned to save my work often. This could never be reliable enough for a work setting. (And of course, the laptop actually crashed while I was writing this review. That's how often this actually happens.) There's a common issue with the mousepad that mine also suffers from where it becomes not very responsive. I almost always use a mouse, but this would bother me a lot if I had to rely on that. I love the quality of how everything feels. I love how thin and light it is. I love that it's a touchscreen. I don't use it as a tablet much, but I love that I have that ability when I want to. I love the pen and I love the way they built it into the laptop. I love how I can charge it with a USB Type C cable, even though I had to buy a separate charger and cable for that feature (the stock charger works well, but it's not Type C). The screen brightness isn't quite as high as I'd like, but it's acceptable. But that BSOD issue is really bad. The only reason I don't return it is because it's able to boot back up to the desktop pretty quickly. I make sure to save my work often, so I'm usually back up and running pretty quickly with whatever I was doing. But it's still very frustrating. I obviously don't use my laptop for gaming or work or anything really crucial because this would never be able to be reliable enough. This has a Gen 3 motherboard, but I upgraded the Gen 3 SSD to a Gen 4 SSD (WDBlack SN850) and saw noticeable improvements when I ran tests with CrystalDiskMark.

I absolutely love this laptop! It’s lightweight and easy to flip into a tablet. The stylus is amazingly accurate and works well for my calligraphy. Graphics and speed = A+++ The 1TB drive was worth the wait to find it available in “open box” condition. I saved enough to buy an external CD/DVD rom drive, additional stylus, laptop stand and laptop bag. The fingerprint identification is very handy. Had no problems with it being “open box”, it looked and set up as if it was brand new

Great laptop, great looking display and good battery life. I think like 4 to 6 hours unplugged. The pen is a nice bonus. One problem I have had on two of these is that the mousepad will randomly stop sensing input for up to 20 seconds. And then it will fix itself. I usually use yhe touchscreen when this happens until its fine. Integrated IRIS MAX XE needs a driver update because when you select it as the dedicated card to playback videos on browsers, there is artifacting, green or other colored streaks, shapes, and lines that appear on the videos. This has happened on two of the laptops ive had after exchanging one to see if the problem would go away.

I had read through a bunch of the reviews for this machine and like many of them I experienced the BSOD on initial boot. I understand that a device, between the time that it’s imaged and the time that it’s sold which can be many months, will typically be in need of many system and Windows updates, but a specific model should never have this many buyers experiencing a crashing event when they first power on their brand new relatively expensive laptop. Anyway, after a reboot it went through its auto diagnostics and found no issues, rebooted again, and then it successfully loaded Windows and I was able to proceed with the initial set up. I immediately got the system completely up to date with all Dell and Windows updates. ** I have not had another BSOD since that initial boot ** The performance has been good, but I have not yet really needed to run multiple high-intensive applications that would all be battling for system resources No problems with the touchpad once I got it all set/configured the way that I like it (I don’t particularly care for the zooming and scrolling and tapping features, as in my experience they cause unintentional actions for me far more than beneficial functionality). The display is crisp and clean, and I have not had any flickering or anything that caught my eye as a concern with it. Typing has had a little bit of a learning curve as my last personal laptop did not have a separate numeric keypad, so I’ve had to shift to the left a little bit when placing my hands on the keyboard, but that comes with the territory when you’re making this sort of change has nothing to do with the quality of the hardware. The keys are responsive and the backlighting works well (my last laptop was the first I had with a backlit keyboard and now that is a “must have” with any new purchase). One thing that I had seen in the photos before purchasing and wasn’t sure what kind of impact it would have is the way the screen sits while open—it looked like the bottom of the screen actually came down lower than the main case, and it does. For me, it is a little bit annoying as I use the computer mostly on the couch on my lap, and it’s not the most comfortable. Every other laptop I’ve owned the screen was flush when open, so I immediately noticed this one kind of pressing down on my legs in the spot where the bottom of screen is. The one good thing about it—and maybe why Dell designed it this way—is that when you don’t have it on your lap, opening the screen causes the bottom to rise up a bit which of course allows better airflow. Overall, this machine has been fine for me so far, but I would not be out actively recommending it to others at its full retail price (I got it during a pretty decent sale and that's why I'll select yes to the recommend question).

If you can get it a the discounted price ~$500 it is a speedy and reliable machine. It has higher specs and is convertible to tablet. I can get it to run decently on some games but it will struggle since the unless you run it at 1080P, but this machine natively is 2K resoultion, and that is where resource intensive games will struggle. But overall as a daily driver laptop, I don't really have complaints. If the price was set at retail, that is when I wouldn't spend more than 600 for it.

Was expecting much better from Dell, my wife actually didn’t like this laptop at all, very buggy, battery life is atrocious, way overpriced for what functions you get. The feel of it was nice just too big for her and I knew that but thought she’d like it anyways. Ended up getting her a Mac Book Air this year for Christmas.

It's a great laptop with nice hardware and software drivers been improved since its launch. Using it for quiet some time and I must say very rough experience at the beginning because it was a new and very buggy hardware and driver software release; but much better now and been on the top of updates through dell support software "manufacturer drivers". If you are buying it now right away please do your self a favour and update everything via dell support application. It will update Bios, firware, drivers etc and you will have a much better experience. People saying track pad dont work... I experienced that in the begining but much improved now and dont forget this laptop have sensors where you pick and depending on how you hold and fold it will disable the keyboard and trackpad for better screen and pen experience. For better experience with trackpad make sure its flat on your desk or even in your lap. The more you tilt it will trigger those sensors. Also get a Bluetooth mouse a cheap one (I recommend Logitech M720 multidevice) or any cheap usb rechargeable whoes battery last for months or an year and you will save yourself a big-time headache. The fingerprint sensor works also and again with updated drivers much better. In the device manager disable Bluetooth devices "Human Interface Device" goes to sleep automatically to save power. Same for Fingerprint Goodix under "Biometric Devices". you will save your self ton of headache. on the lock screen if the fingerprint is not getting detected, then switch back and forth between passcode (don't enter pass code) and back to fingerprint again and it will trigger it and log you in. For me after updates it logs me in every single time. Also disable automatic reboot upon error. I experienced quite a few BSOD's in the beginning but its improved a lot over time and thanks to dell for constantly pushing updates. I think this can still be improved by manufacturers via extensive testing inter-department before release and then launch a solid product. If you are going to format this laptop make sure to load Intel optane H10 drivers on a bootable USB which you might use to restore your image. Just make a driver folder and point windows towards it when installing windows; otherwise you will not have Intel optane functionality and you will lose 30gbs or Ram style memory which is used for faster program load etc all good bells and whistles. Highly recommended to do it I am not going to lie that everything was a shining star with the laptop but I did some workarounds and am now back to normal settings. At one point I was going to return it because of the time spent troubleshooting and laptop sudden BSOD in the middle of the work; LOL it made me realize to always save your work. Its a wonderful nice stylish and professional-looking laptop with nice hardware and functions. Used pen multiple times for professional paperwork and saved me from printing papers on multiple occasions. The pen is smooth and nice on its glass touch screen. Again pen glides smooth on glass screen a lot of people dont understand this, its just so that glass is hard and people with different writing style press sometime hard on screen and this is 4k screen with glass and you will have nice experience writing over it. To be honest I dont use it all the time but its there to add convenience and very helpful. This laptop in a folded position is a giant tablet and all touch system works like tablet. e.g youtube double tap to fast forward etc. The headphone jack when you plug in your iphone of any other headphones and you get a popup on the screen, always select "Head Set" and subcategory and earbuds or earphones etc because with the headset the system understands that a headset is Microphone and Headphones together. Again some people dont get this. Last but not the least if you havnt got anything from this review just understand this much ... Update your laptop with Dell Support Software with manufacturer drivers. Dont be downloading every single driver from every hardware manufacturer's website especially the Graphics driver (Intel Iris Xe and Xe Max) which this laptop offers. Fan spinning, fingerprint etc will all be fixed and apply some of the settings that I listed above and you will be fine. I hope this was helpful and avoid my typing mistakes just typing this on the fly

This is my first Dell laptop. I've always had HP. This is a good machine. It's fast and works well. I love the fact that it's got a finger pad (I did get a mouse for it), as well as touch screen. I've been using quite a bit and the battery life is decent. I do wish there was an extended life battery available.

Replacing an aging Dell. I like the screen size. I wanted at least a TB of storage. Check. A touch screen. Check. At least 8GB RAM. Check. The SSD is a bonus. Beautiful screen with gorgeous color. Some negatives: I get blue-screen crashes about weekly. I had some issues installing legacy Microsoft products (but eventually got them all working).

I have used Dell PC's over past 20 years. This is a very good PC and have had a couple weeks. (got on sale) Screen quality is great and touch screen works well with and without the pen. Nice to have 1 TB of storage as well. It is slightly heavier than my current 13" but not that noticeable. Goal is to have this a long time and the 2 in 1 provides flexibility and screen size is good for movies/shows. It also has a number pad on the right if you doing calculations - better than the number keys across the top. Getting 5-6 hours battery life.

I am happy with this new computer. It is a lot faster than my old Dell. I had an issue with it starting already but Dell support walked me through updates that were probably running when I tried to start it up. The fan seems louder than my old computer and I'm hoping that is because it's faster.

After having two Dell 7506 computers fail, I tried the 7706 this time. Basically the brother to the 7506, with the 7505 being a 15" Screen and the 7706 being a 17" screen. I miss the 4k screen I had on the 7506, but the 7706 screen is quite nice with a very narrow edge surrounding the screen it looks nice and it is touch screen as was the 7506. Both the 7506 and 7706 are 2 n 1 computers with foldable screen/lid that will fold back flat. The idea being that it can function as a tablet. The 7506 worked okay in that mode, but Windows 11 does away with the tablet function in Windows so now you basically have a screen/lid that you can fold back at different angles to find the best view for movies you might watch. The 7706 has 16gig of RAM and an 11th generation i-7 chip which along with Intel's Optane Memory and an SSD drive is fairly quick to boot and operate. As opposed to the 7506 the 7706 has a fairly basic level Nvida video chip where the 7506 used Intel's Iris Xe Graphics which shared memory. I really liked the performance and feature of the 7506, but after having two fail with the same issue leads me to believe there is a product flaw and that it doesn't carry over to the 7706. I would recommend the 7706 but strongly recommend that you purchase an extended warranty.

The computer itself is excellent; super fast, and the added feature of 2 in 1 is interesting. The laptop came with McAfee Virus Protection with a 30 days trial, which I used. A few hours late, I started getting the blue screen of death. Over several weeks, I kept receiving this, and Windows could not detect an issue whatsoever when I did a scan. After scouring the internet for an answer and losing school essays that I had to rewrite, I saw that McAfee was the culprit. I deleted it and uploaded Norton, which I had on my old computer without issue. It's been over a week, and I have not received the blue screen since the switch, and I most definitely would have by now.
