A welcomed improvement over my old ACER

The features I enjoy the most are the additional memory (to reduce the number of times that the laptop crashes), the quicker startups & wakeups, the Delete Key in the upper right corner and the indicator light on the Caps Lock Key.

The laptop is easy to use. It is a touch screen that folds all the way back and turns into a notepad. It is a little clumsy to use as the keyboard is exposed while working on the screen. It is great for displaying what you are working on. With the way the screen folding back it works well for presentations.

Laptop is so much better than the one I replaced. Very speedy. A couple of drawbacks. While I purchased best buy warranty, I felt necessary to purchase Dell's. Dell does everything remotely. I was not willing to leave laptop at Best Buy for who knows how many days. This laptop kept doing a hardware scan. Dell had to update most of the drivers. Still does an automatic hardware scan at least once a week even though I did not setup. Then you get this silly "Recovery. looks like windows did not close correctly" message and have to restart laptop. Don't even know where that feature is located even though I have looked for it. Also no light on the num lock. Keyboard backlight could be brighter and keys a bit more substantial. Miss the CD/DVD RW. Overall nice laptop.

Screen cracked because of a pad of paper!

Overall I enjoy the slim, and sleek design of the computer. It's fast, has a good amount of storage for data and is easy to navigate through. The only reason why I decided to give it 3 stars is because the glass screen is INCREDIBLY easy to crack. I never dropped the computer, didn't place anything abnormally heavy on it or step on it, nothing of the sort. What caused a HUGE crack in my computers screen, was because I simply closed the lid with a legal pad of paper sitting on the keyboard. I didn't force it, or bare down on it, just simply closed it! I was incredibly surprised that's all it took to crack it!

Not That Impressed with Dell Product

This is my first time own a Dell laptop. I have used it at work but not for personal use. I have had this laptop for just under 2 months. So far, I have had to reload the OS due to some issue with the sound card, there have been some operating system errors where the PC has to do memory scans, windows not loading correctly. After that the touch pad has been lagging, the pointer disappears when I'm browsing the internet and using my emails. The touch pad is to big for the space there is between the edge of the laptop. The edge is not comfortable as it' s pretty sharp. You keep your hand there for a few mins and it will hurt. The tech team have been very helpful. The issue with the touch pad is still on going called the help desk today and we will give it a couple days to see how the diagnostics done today will helped with the touch pad pointer lagging. The other issue I have experienced with Dell is their customer service. It has been a total disappointment! I the pen with the laptop came broken. I called customer service several times to address a simple replacement. It has taken close to a month address the issue and to be told that I need to buy one. Apparently, they think I broke the pen. It took me a long time on the phone and several calls to send pictures, and to be told to buy one from them. Frankly, I have mixed feeling about the Dell experience thus far. I thought they were more about customer experience. Seems like the little things are big for them. So, if you are thinking about buying a Dell product think twice about it.

Gets the job done but isn't amazing...

This laptop replaced my 8-year old Lenovo that I absolutely loved until it was simply too old to continue using. Additionally, I needed a machine that was able to support video editing and graphics work for work. This machine definitely checks all the boxes but the overall operation is somewhat less than reliable. There seems to be an inherent issue with sleep mode on this machine where it always wants to restart instead of simply waking. Additionally, it's pretty loud but I guess that's to be expected given it's working hard most of the time. That being said, overall it's a very good machine. The display is crisp but there are some issues with the backlight being visible in lowlight, black color conditions. I think this machine gets the job done but it's not the most well-polished machine that I've owned and definitely seems lower quality than my Lenovo but I couldn't wait 6-weeks for the Lenovo with similar specs to be shipped. So, I have this laptop and I'm getting used to it.

On paper this machine seems like a no brainer. In practice it's a little rough around the edges. Had a lot of issues with this computer randomly freezing on me and sometimes the trackpad would not work. The battery life is also very poor compared to models of this price range. The screen looks great! Speakers are terrible. The case can not handle the vibrations that come out of the speakers. I really wanted this laptop to workout but the build quality and performance was too poor.

      Hello Erik,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the troubles you have come across with your Dell Inspiron 7506 2-in-1 laptop.

Below I have provided a list of solutions for the freezing issue, along with a link to the full article, should you need further information. We also recommend making sure your BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have given you a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your computer so you can check for and do applicable updates.

      Resolutions
      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Pre-boot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI

You can read the full article here - https://dell.to/3rTldMZ

      Drivers and Downloads Page: https://dell.to/3tLUgxV

If the performance of the battery is not as good as you would expect, we recommend changing the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver features.

You can read the full article here -  http://dell.to/2vfXWf4

I have also provided the steps to run the Microsoft Sound Troubleshooter. I have also included the full article link that has more options if they are needed.

How to run the Windows Sound Troubleshooter in Microsoft Windows 10
      1. Click Start, and then select Settings (gear icon).
      2. Click Update & Security and select Troubleshoot.
      3. Click Playing Audio and then click Run the troubleshooter.
      4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

    Constant Touchpad Issues

I'll start my review by disclosing that I've been a MAC user for the past 15 years. I had to buy a PC for work from home as it's more compatible. The setup was simple and the touchscreen is nice. However the touchpad is terrible and changing sensitivity does not remedy the issues. It jumps around, will stop working, and I have to clean it multiple times during my workday (never have I had to do this with my MAC). There are also updates multiple times a week. The fan is so loud. The camera is average. It's not the worst, but it's not great either. Overall it's just fine.

      Hello PreferMAC,

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the issues you have with your touchpad on your laptop. Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:

      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      11. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.

The speed and the picture quality is fabulous! I have no complaint about the setup. Since it’s a bigger size laptop, for wfh perspective, this is even better with the help of 15” display. However, this is not so ideal for frequent travelers, way much heavier indeed
