You need this!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Plus 2-in-1 14” FHD+ Touch Screen Laptop (Intel Core Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD – Ice) for a little while now, and I wanted to share some honest thoughts on how it’s been going. I use it both for casual stuff and work, and overall, I’ve been really happy with the experience. First off, I think the design is one of the standout features. It looks clean and modern without trying too hard, and the size feels just righ portable enough to carry around easily, but still big enough to get things done comfortably. The build quality feels solid too. Nothing creaks or feels flimsy, and the 2-in-1 hinge is smooth and secure. I’ve flipped it back and forth quite a few times, and it holds its position well without any wobbling or looseness, which I’ve had issues with on other laptops in the past. The keyboard layout is intuitive, and the keys are comfortable to type on. I spend a decent amount of time typing for work, and I’ve never felt cramped or annoyed by the layout. The trackpad is smooth and accurate, and I haven’t had any issues with gestures or accidental clicks. It just works the way it should, which is always appreciated. One of the things I’ve really enjoyed is the touchscreen. I didn’t expect to use it as much as I do, but it’s surprisingly natural to just reach up and tap or scroll. Whether I’m browsing, editing a doc, or just flipping through photos, it feels quick and responsive. Switching to tablet mode is easy, and it’s come in handy more times than I expected whether I’m watching a video, scrolling through articles, or using it for a bit of light sketching or note-taking. It doesn’t feel like a novelty; it actually adds to the experience. The screen itself looks great. The resolution is sharp, colors are bright without being over-saturated, and the taller aspect ratio gives a little more room for reading and working, which I’ve definitely noticed when going through long documents or split-screen multitasking. I’ve used it in different lighting situations and haven’t had any major issues with glare or brightnes. it’s held up well in that area too. Performance-wise, it’s been really smooth. I don’t push it to the absolute limits, but I do have quite a few tabs open at once, switch between apps frequently, and occasionally do some light photo editing or video conferencing. So far, it’s handled everything with no lag or slowdown. Startup is quick, everything loads fast, and it just feels snappy overall. The 16GB of RAM helps with multitasking, and the 1TB SSD is more than enough storage for what I need of space for files, photos, and apps without needing to worry. One thing I’ve appreciated is how quiet and cool it stays. Even when I’ve got a bunch of stuff running, the fan stays quiet, and the laptop doesn’t heat up to the point where it’s uncomfortable to use on my lap. That’s something I’ve had issues with in the past on other laptops, so it’s a nice improvement. Battery life has been good. I can get through a full workday without needing to plug in, and if I’m just using it for lighter tasks streaming, web browsing, that kind of thing it lasts even longer. It charges quickly, too, which is convenient when I forget to plug it in overnight (which happens more often than I’d like to admit). I’m not tracking the exact hours day to day, but it’s been consistent and reliable enough that I don’t have to stress about carrying a charger with me unless I’m going to be out for a really long time. For the way I use it kind of a mix between work and personal stuff it checks all the boxes. It’s fast, lightweight, reliable, and easy to use. The 2-in-1 flexibility makes it feel more like a companion device than just a tool for work. Sometimes I’m answering emails and organizing files, and other times I’m just watching Netflix in tablet mode or scrolling the news with a cup of coffee. It fits both modes really well, which I appreciate. It’s not overly complicated to use, but still feels like a powerful, up-to-date machine. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the speakers are decent but not amazing. They’re fine for video calls and casual listening, but I usually grab my headphones if I want better sound quality. That’s kind of expected on laptops in this size range, though, so it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I also wouldn’t use it for heavy gaming or super demanding creative work like 4K video editing, but for my everyday needs, it’s more than capable.if you’re looking for something that can handle both work and play without feeling like it’s trying too hard in either direction. It’s dependable, versatile, and has a thoughtful design that makes it enjoyable to use throughout the day. If you value portability, a clean interface, and the option to switch things up with the touch screen and 2-in-1 mode, I think you’d be pretty happy with it.

Pause and read before purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase this computer for my wife over the Memorial Day holiday sale. It was a brand new purchase, and when I went to set up the device and both the keypad and trackpad failed to function. After numerous troubleshooting attempts, I went to the Best Buy helpdesk only to have to order another one to ship directly to me. The second device came within a few days and function appropriately. However, after 72 hours the battery had a catastrophic failure, resulting in an additional return to Best Buy with no re-purchase. I would not recommend this device until it has been established that all bugs and production issues have been weeded out. I hope this helps.

Solid Laptop but with Sticky Keys and Dim Screen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As always, Dell delivers a solid laptop with a few caveats. This laptop is a good combination of a not-too-big, not-too-small 14-inch screen, with a swift Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, a large 1 terabyte hard drive, and a 16 gigabyte RAM. Overall, basic computer usage and tasks such as internet browsing, email, photo storage and editing, entertainment/streaming television and movies, and light gaming can be done with ease. I have also been using it for work purposes, taking it with me daily and utilizing it both at work destinations and when working from home. Weight-wise, I would say that it is slightly on the heavier side for its screen size, when compared to other laptops that I’ve used with the same screen dimensions. It has a backlit keyboard, which can be turned off, and the keys have two levels of brightness. I do not put it in a laptop sleeve or anything; I just shove it into my work messenger bag because the shell seems to be quite sturdy—it has been holding up well and I have no worries about it bending or denting, chipping, etc. The keyboard is a bit stiff for my liking—the keys tend to pop up or spring back hard with a short travel, almost like they are getting stuck for a split second after each strike. I type pretty fast, at about an average of 100wpm, and have to do a lot of typing for my work, so a good responsive keyboard is crucial to me. The sticky keyboard is one reason I ding this review to 4/5 stars. The second reason is the (non)brightness of the screen, which tops out at a measly 300 nits. I keep on hitting the button to increase the brightness because I constantly think the screen looks dark, and as a consequence everything looks slightly dull and dim. However, the one thing that I truly appreciate about this laptop is that it is a touchscreen, and I have found that I use the touchscreen a lot, especially when doing work tasks. I used to carry around a mouse with earlier laptops I have used, but discovered that with a touchscreen I don’t need to anymore, which is great—one less thing I need to lug around with me to work! And the screen is on a 360-degree hinge, so this is a 2-in-1 design laptop where you can fully bend/rotate the screen to get the keyboard out of the way. I also like to prop up the laptop tent-like to stream movies or watch TV without the keyboard sticking out in front—instead, I can angle the screen in infinite positions for maximum visibility. I also do a lot of video calls/meetings for work, so I am happy to report that the webcam is excellent. I especially like that it has a built-in little switch that you can slide to cover the webcam when it is not in use. The trackpad is adequate, and like the touchscreen, is responsive enough. The laptop is powered and charged with a standard USB-C cable (and not some proprietary connection); the battery lasts a good long time on a full charge—it gets me though the day and I charge the laptop overnight.

Great Battery life for Travel and School
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell - Plus 2-in-1 14" FHD+ Touch Screen Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 7 Copilot+ PC with 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Ice Model: LDB04250-7137BLU-PUS So far, I really like this new Dell. I also have a Dell Inspiron with an I7 offering 10 cores. However, this new Dell with the Ultra 7 has 8 cores, uses a newer smaller processor which offers great performance with less power use, less heat generated, and that in turn means better battery life. I can attest to the better battery life and less heat generated compared to my other Dell. This machine runs cooler and quieter. And yes, it sips at the battery. All with great snappy performance, fast boot times, and quick screen refresh. The keyboard is well laid out, quiet to type, and comfortable. The lighted keys with 2 brightness choices are easy to see in just about any light or in darkness. There is a dedicated Key to start Copilot which makes it easy. I find I can use Copilot as an enhanced search engine for day-to-day questions while I’m on the laptop. The trackpad is large and very responsive. And yet I do not get any cursor movement while typing above the trackpad with my wrists brushing over the trackpad. This new Dell has all the necessary connections most users would want. HDMI, and 2 X USB-C, along with a USB-A, and a headphone jack. Keep in mind many of us use the built in Bluetooth to connect our ear buds and external mice. This machine does not offer a slot for memory cards, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. I will add that the USB-C connections are multipurpose for charging both in and out, connectivity for Display Port monitors both 1.4 and 2.1 as well as one Thunderbolt 4 at 40 Gbps. I also like the ability to flex the display at various angles to the keyboard. I will flip the screen all the way back and hold the device as a tablet. The touch screen works great and if you need to type, a virtual keyboard appears on the lower section of the screen to use for typing, which makes web surfing or binge-watching U-Tube videos a breeze while on the sofa or your recliner. The physical keyboard becomes deactivated so no problem handling the tablet from the backside. The laptop comes boxed in a basic 100% recycled material that is further recyclable. No plastic or foam. The compact 65-watt power brick uses a 3 ft leader power cord with a 3-prong grounded wall plug and a 70-inch small cable with a USB-C connector that connects to the laptop. Realize that this smart power supply being USB-C is safely capable of charging any other USB-C device outputting 5, 9, 15, and 20 volts to match the device. IN SUMMARY Great compact, portable, laptop/tablet with more than adequate performance and features for most users. The separate Copilot key makes it super easy to open and use Copilot to get all your information. The Trak-pad is large and responsive, not overly sensitive to hands or wrists. The laptop has an abundance of ports for most users. And if you get bored, use it as a tablet. Yes, I would recommend this laptop and to my best friends.
