It’s tough to write an adequate review for a monitor. Firstly, vision is unique to the person so picture quality claims are subjective at best. Secondly, since most displays and display drivers (the board that sends the picture to the screen) are made by a small handful of companies in China and Taiwan, it’s also tough to say that one brand has a substantial advantage over another since they mostly contain the same “guts”. So, I usually look at the features, the design (both engineering and esthetic) and the reputation of the company putting its brand on it. I spent over 35 years in IT and Help Desk management and in my experience HP and Dell have always proven their worth to me and my clients. Their rugged design and longevity led me to use Dell monitors in my own home lab and I’ve never been disappointed. The S2421NX is no exception. For the price, it’s hard to beat the quality and features. Two HDMI inputs allow for auto switching, so you can hook two PCs up to the same monitor (which allowed me to bypass my HDMI switch and cables. The menu is logically designed and well thought out. More importantly, it’s easy to access and navigate. And it looks great from all sides, including the back thanks to the ingenious design that includes a little plastic “hatch” that covers all the required labels and endorsements. As far as the picture quality, I was really pleased with it but it’s something you really must see for yourself. Fortunately, BB does a great job in store showing their monitors off and I’ve even had a salesperson set up a monitor that wasn’t on display so I could check it out. And if you don’t like it once you get it home, BB has one of the best returns policies in the business. (And some of the best customer support people, too!) I wish this had a DisplayPort input as well, but I grasp that it’s not something everyone needs and it’s an understandable exclusion in this price range. But as far as cons go, I really had to dig deep for that one. I replaced my HP monitor in the lab with this to test it and now I’m leaving in place – it looks/works that good. I would definitely recommend this monitor as a complement to any PC (not just Dell) and I don’t think anyone would be disappointed in their choice.

I wanted a monitor for my new Dell laptop. All of the Dell monitors were a bit pricey so I bought this monitor because it was on sale. The screen quality is great and i would be very pleased, however, the lack of height adjustment capabilities makes this a one-star monitor. C’mon Dell. It’s 2023, not 1991. All monitors should be adjustable. Ridiculous! Back to Beat Buy in the morning.

I picked up this monitor primarily for the cost and price point. For the features, the low cost is optimal when you’re looking to either supplement your existing setup or replace some aging technology. It offers Full HD (1920x1080) resolution with a 1,000:1 Contrast ratio. Images were clear and crisp and even though the 4ms response time and 75Hz refresh is not great, it’s also not bad at this price. Comes with its own HDMI cable that appears to be above average quality. There are two HDMI ports on it. This is kind of ironic. There is no USB-C port. I have two Dell laptops and one of them ONLY has USB-C. It’s not a biggie but it does mean that you will need a hub to connect in the HDMI to, and then USB-C into your laptop. My other Dell has only USB-C but it also has an HDMI. I would have thought that they would have had that option available. The image quality and transition seem to be very good, it does have the AMD FreeSync Technology which is supposed to synchronize the frame rates between the monitor and whatever graphics card your device has. The stand is solid and sturdy. It’s also VESA mountable if you want that, if not, it has a cover you can put over it in the back. BestBuy currently is showing this on sale and at the price, if you need an “above average” basic monitor, this is a great choice. I would recommend this to a friend.

Great simple monitor with great colors and thin bezels. My PS5 looks good on it. It’s not 4K but it still looks great and sharp! Easy to put it together as well. There are 2 HDMI ports and 1 audio output for speakers. It doesn’t have its own speakers so if you have speakers with audio output, your good! FHD 1920 x 1080/ IPS Screen display Oh, there are no tools you will need to put this together and it’s very sturdy and lite. You can’t go wrong with this monitor. The thin bezels is a welcomed experience! Great for home and doesn’t take up desk space. More of a “preference” con, but I wish this had built in speakers but most monitors don’t anyways. Watching videos will be good on this as well but just don’t expect the 4K experience but you will be satisfied with the colors. Dell is always great on the quality side and they did not disappoint with this monitor. Plenty of picture mode settings and this has VESA support if you thought of mounting. More than likely this will be used more with my desktop than for gaming. Get it and enjoy!

It’s a good monitor with good color and fast reactions. There was no noticeable lag when watching a movie and videos. Scrolling through spreadsheets and text was also very good. I was able to see the text as it scrolled by. Viewing angles are consistent with other IPS LED screens, meaning it’s good as long as you stay within 45 degrees of the center line. Past 45 degrees, there’s marked degradation in brightness. Overall contrast is mediocre. Blacks are more like grey. Whites are relatively pure, but have a slight blue shift. Details in movies were present, but did not pop. I recently got a OLED laptop, which makes the comparison a little more stark. The relatively high refresh rate of 75Hz means it will be flicker free in nearly all situations. The matte finish allows it to resist nearly all reflections. Combined, they allow for long term usage which is good if you need to stare at a screen for 8-10 hours per day. This is a Full HD monitor, meaning it will support up to 1080p. This used to be a big deal, now it’s table stakes for a home or home office monitor. At nearly 24”, the pixel spacing is still fairly tight to give a visually sharp image for 1080p. Much larger than this, I’d want something with higher resolution to maintain the same sharpness. The side and top bezels are very thin which make this a good candidate for a dual monitor desk set up. In addition, this has a VESA connection on the back, allowing for use with a monitor stand, which I find to be the best set up for dual monitors. Overall, I would recommend this for home/office use to anyone looking for dual monitors or who has a tough lighting situation. It’s excellence at resisting reflections combined with a very small bezel makes up for it’s lack in other areas. On monitors at similar price points there’s often more flexibility in the stand, either allowing for a higher placement and/or 90 degree rotation. This stand has neither. It would be a good value on sale, especially if you have a separate stand for it.

I always prefer a Dell monitor. Just something about the way their screens perform and they are great for everything. Dell is a household and business hold name. This particular model is great for home or business. It looks great while turned off and shines bright when turned on. What I like the most is the dual HDMI option on the back. I can have my desktop computer in one and I usually keep an empty HDMI cord connected on the 2nd port. This allows me to plug in devices when needed. For example my laptop, a friends laptop, or maybe a gaming device. This monitor will switch between the devices when it detects a device is powered on. The monitor is full HD with many great specs like 75hz refresh rate and IPS for great viewing. Great for precision viewing with excel documents or other docs. It’s good for fhd gaming as well. I connected my PlayStation to this monitor as well as my desktop and has successful viewing in both. Contrast was great with rich blacks as advertised. I made some of my own changes on the screens settings to my preferences. What I don’t like is that I can’t move the screen up and down to increase or decrease height but this is typical for this range of monitor. It does have a VESA mount in the back which is accessible when you remove a plastic back (which you install the cover during setup). So you can put this on a different mount if you so choose. Setup was super easy. Slip the center leg into the back of screen in its port and then put the bottom mount on with one screw. Next, install the rear plastic cover to hide the VESA mount area or keep it off to install the screen on a mount. Finally, plug her into power and your device(s) and your set.

This monitor is awesome. Picture quality is perfect, color is fabulous. Was easy to set up and install. Love that I can actually turn it off. Functions easy to find and use. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I picked up a new Dell desktop PC and wanted a quality monitor to go with it. That’s where the Dell - S2421NX 23.8" AMD Free Sync Monitor comes in. The screen size is perfect for my desk and blends in nicely with the surroundings. Although a little pricier than others, this monitor seems to be worth it in performance. The screen has two HDMI full HD inputs that can automatically detect the source, or you can manually change them. The display is clean and clear without reflection from ambient light because of its anti-reflective screen. The Dell’s IPS screen is better for wide angle viewing as well. Watching videos there isn’t any video lag that I could see. The picture is colorful and bright and well detailed, though a little soft. When playing games, the refresh rate is very good and there is very little if any video smearing on the screen though there were some jaggy edges on some sequences in the games. More intense gaming may push this monitor to its limits, but it doesn't give up easily. The Dell screen comes with the base, the monitor, power and HDMI cables, a VESA plate and instructions. There are five buttons on the lower right-hand side of the screen. Power, Menu, cancel (X out of) and an up and down button. The Menu button provide you with different picture and source settings. For example, when you select the menu, the first option you are presented with is a list of picture modes to select from. Standard, Movie, FPS, RTS, Warm, cool and custom. Pressing the menu and selecting the second button to the right gives you the sources, (Auto, HDMI1 and HDMI2). Pressing the menu and selecting the third button gives you the picture setting for fine tuning, such as Brightness/Contrast, Input source, Color, Display, Menu, Personalize and Other. This is a well-rounded monitor for all your computing, gaming and video streaming needs. Though some games may push it’s limits it does hold up well and I would recommend it to anyone in search of a medium size screen.

Very happy with this. Got it for work purposes, it’s big , clear and easy to setup. I can’t comment on use for games, but for programming, excel, adobe etc, it does the trick at a good price

This monitor was very easy to set up - with clear instructions (picture attached). You put the base together, slide the base into the back, and pull it out of the box. There is also a cover plate for the VESA panel. No tools needed. The screen tilts for adjustable viewing. It comes with an HDMI cord and a power cord. The color and image quality are very good. Letters are clear. Excellent contrast. Pictures are fantastic - high quality and appear large (due to bezel). The bezel is very thin - looks like all screen which is great! Would be ideal for multiple screen setups. The screen is 23.8" which is perfect - not too large, but adequate for most daily functions. One feature I liked best is the ease of using the control buttons. There are 5 buttons on the bottom right of the monitor to control adjustments and they are very easy to navigate (unlike many others). They clearly indicate right, left, accept (arrow) or cancel (X). This is an outstanding basic monitor at a very reasonable price point. I would definitely recommend it for everyday uses.

This monitor is simply a beauty. At nearly 2 feet wide, the panoramic view is just exquisite. The picture clarity is sharp and the resolution is perfect. Also, for spreadsheet work, the screen is unstoppable. I couldn't be more pleased with this monitor purchase from Best Buy. Thank you!

I really like this Dell - S2421NX 23.8" IPS LED monitor. It took less than five minutes to physically setup and hook up to my computer. It works with most all CPU’s. The table top mount sits a little low for my use but I’ve added something under to raise it and it also tilts for better viewing. The Monitor looks really sleek and smooth and will fit in with any office or workspace. Comes with the power cord and I use an HDMI cord to connect so everything I need is bound with 2 cords. I’m not very well-versed in graphics but the typical Internet use and social media videos that I make with multiple apps I am able to see and work very clearly on this monitor the colors are bright and the picture is very clear overall this is a great monitor for professional use or at home used whether you work remote or if it’s just for fun. I don’t have any issues at the moment with this monitor I think it’s a great addition to your electronic supply. Dell did a great job on this monitor, And it shows in their design work

The Dell S2421NX monitor is awesome! The screen is super clear and big, and everything looks amazing in Full HD. It has AMD FreeSync, so my games run super smooth with no lag. It's also really thin and looks cool on my desk. Plus, it has HDMI and is easy to set up. If you need a new monitor, this one is the best!

Needed a monitor in short notice in order to work at a new location and was able to plug in and begin working immediately. Set up is minimal and the monitor comes with an HDMI cord.
