Same ol'...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than most by making it almost frame free but suffering from edge light bleeding and overall washed out look. This is an inherent problem for all LCD's but no-one seems to mind somehow so its bound to stay there forever. Pathetic resolution of only 1080p makes it that much more unbearable. Bought it on the premise that this new design will hide the problems but that was not to be.

Good monitor

Great clarity, some alright extras
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty nice monitor, I have to say. Like everything, it has its' pros and cons, but overall the experience of using it has been pretty good. First, the cons. The monitor doesn't have speakers, instead it has an AUX out. This has the potential to be nice, but if you're on a system where your audio output is being done a different way, it can be pretty annoying as the monitor will end up in the possible list of output devices. It took me a good few minutes when I first used the monitor to figure out why my computer suddenly didn't have sound. Additionally, the resolution is fantastically clear and crisp in a way other screens I've used aren't; but, it's rather demanding on modern games. On a system using a 1650 Super, I've discovered that I can run games such as Destiny 2 or Skyrim at native resolution, but it doesn't work so well for things like Borderlands 3. If you're using a gaming computer with this monitor and don't have the budget to get good hardware, you may want to reconsider unless you're okay with downscaling. Some people, such as myself, are very much not okay with that. For others it works fine. There's quite a few good things about this monitor as well. The Dell Display Manager application (downloadable from their website, not that you'd know from the package contents) was quite useful in setting up all the monitor presets for whatever apps I cared to used. What's even nicer is that it would change presets automatically - no need to change any settings when I switch from an FPS game to working on documents. The application detects what you're using and tells the monitor to adjust. Plus, this screen is super clear and sharp while also being large enough that I don't have to strain to see everything when I set the display scaling to 100%. I greatly appreciate the fact that the sleep indicator light is just a softly blinking white light, because having bright blue flashing lights in my room is rather disruptive to my sleep and I don't shut my computer down if it has automated tasks it's running. The screen looks aesthetically pleasing without being over the top, and it's fairly light so it can be moved around easily. Another useful feature is the multiple input slots. It's super useful when I'm working on multiple things and for whatever reason need two computers at once. There's a few other noteworthy traits this monitor has as well, even if they're not directly useful to me in particular. There's a slot on the back for a VESA mount, in case you want to put it on the wall or something. The screen also features AMD FreeSync to, among other things, help reduce screen tearing. However, you won't be able to use that unless you have an AMD graphics card. Additionally, the Dell Display Manager application lets you use hotkeys to change settings for the monitor on the fly and even switch input without having to press buttons on the monitor. Unfortunately it doesn't also have support for a remote, but that's fairly standard. All in all, it's a lovely monitor that's pleasant to use; and the quirks it has are only really bothersome to tech nerds. Whether I'm playing a game or working on a complex paper or even doing digital art, I can always make out exactly what I'm doing without dealing with any of the fuzziness I typically have to put up with from lower resolution screens. And, in a monitor, isn't that what really matters most?
