The connection is very sporadic and unreliable. The other ports for USB and video are great, but the main purpose was Ethernet and that failed.

I don’t have to worry what type of connection the projector at a conference has because I now have this dock. For instance, my laptop does not have a VGA connection yet all of the projectors where I work are VGA. This meant I had to send my presentation to someone else for projection; now I just plug in the dock and plug the projector into that and I’m ready to go. My co-workers are beginning to borrow it with increasing frequency, so I know I’m not the only one who runs into this issue. It takes up very little room, about 1/3 as much as my previous dock, although, to be fair, that one wasn’t designed to be portable and also provided power, which this one does not. Overall this is a very useful accessory for people who use their laptop in multiple locations.

Excellent Portable Adapter for Traveling

This product is intended for those who travel or have temporary workstations. I only have a Dell laptop to use this with so I cannot confirm performance of this adapter with a non-Dell laptop. This adapter has: 3 video ports (HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort), 1 Ethernet port, 1 USB-C port, and 1 USB-A port. Pros: - Compact design. Similar to a smaller and lighter hockey puck. Perfect for those that travel for work or have floating workspaces. - Retractable, integrated USB-C cable. Simply twist the top and bottom to retract or extend - Plug and play ready. At least it was when connecting my Dell work laptop. This may vary depending on the brand or model of your laptop. - Multiple video port options (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA) Cons: - Only supports one external video display at a time. Meaning you cannot have 2 external monitors running through this adapter. - No power pass through. You cannot charge or power your laptop using this adapter. - The retractable USB-C cable contained within the adapter is short, about 4 inches, so you'll need to keep it close to all connected devices - Really wish it had a 2nd USB-A port. Product Notes: a) When adapter is connected to a Thunderbolt or 15W USB-C (DisplayPort Alt-mode) port – two downstream USB-C and USB-A ports with USB3.1 Gen 2 file transfer rate of up to 10 Gbps is supported. b) When adapter is connected to a 7.5W USB-C (DisplayPort Alt-mode) port – only one of the two downstream USB-C and USB-A ports with USB2.0. file transfer rate up to 480 Mbps is supported on a 1st come 1st serve basis (the peripheral connected first to either the USB-C or USB-A port is supported)
