Customers love the Ethernet port, portability, and compact size of the USB-C Mobile Adapter DA300. Many appreciate its compatibility with various devices and its sleek design. However, some customers find the price to be high and note that it doesn't provide power to the laptop, and only one video output can be used at a time. The adapter's performance has also received some mixed feedback.

Needed it for my Dell but then this also has only 1 port to connect keyboard, mouse, and external camera. Would have loved at least 2 ports.

Its small size and built-in cable management allow for easy traveling. Having the option to hard wire using ethernet cable is nice for security or if wi-fi is slow, or maybe setting up router where you need to be hard wired in. Most laptops do not provide an ethernet connection anymore.
I recommend especially if you are a traveling.
There is no setup – just plug adapter into USB-C on computer.
Base is lightweight and its round size makes it easy to fit in pocket, etc. Cable winds up into base but is only around 6 inches long. Its nice to be able to wind cable up into the base and not worry about losing the cable. My one concern by not having a separate cable if it somehow becomes damaged the entire unit will be useless.
You can connect;
1 USB-C – 10 Gbps
1 USB-A – 10-Gbps
Important note to be able to use both the USB-C and USB-A your USB-C connection on computer must have 15w (my Dell laptop can charge using USB-C connection so I was able to use both). If you have a 7.5w, which I suspect most laptops will have, then you can only use one of these connections at a time. Also this adapter does not allow charging of laptop using USB-C.
1 Display port up to 4K – didn’t try
1 HDMI up to 4K
Note – while this supports 4K your device must support 4K.
1 VGA – really? Didn’t try
1 Ethernet
I used it on;
Google Slate tablet (2019) – it installed automatically and it picked up USB-C drive and Ethernet but stopped working when I tried to connect USB-A as well. I don’t use this much so I didn’t trouble shoot nor did I run any drive speed tests.
Dell Inspiron 2in1 model 7386 (2018). As mentioned since this laptop has a 15w USB-C connection I could use both USB C and A drives at the same time. Running speed tests, the drives if run separately matched their speed of directly connected to laptop. When running tests of both at same time there was impact of maybe 40% on speed. Ethernet connection reached maximum up and download speeds I am paying for with my connection with no impact if drives were working. Connected to 1080P monitor and then 4K TV using HDMI cable. Both automatically connected with appropriate resolution. You will need to go into settings to set if you want 2nd display to be duplicate, extension, etc.
Samsung Notebook Pro 9 (2017), This laptop cannot charge using USB-C so could only run 1 drive at a time. Drive and internet speeds as well as HDMI connection worked pretty much same as Dell laptop.
Didn’t try connection HDMI and display port at same time but I think you are limited to only using 1 at a time.
Using Windows 10 drives show up in remove/reject icon.
Using Windows 10 when I plugged in Ethernet cable it automatically dis-connected the wi-fi connection.
1-year limited warranty.
I have no negatives really except for the cord and that you cannot charge laptop using USB-C.
I do recommend but make sure of your devices USB-C wattage to insure you aren’t dis-appointed if planning on multiplying drive access.

Solid like the hockey puck it resembles in size and shape, this is a very durable object! Twist the bottom half of the hub and the USB-C cable winds out with a satisfying click.
So far I've used it on my Dell laptop and even my iPad when a USB-A port was needed in a pinch for a memory card adapter. Most recently it is being used on my wife's MacBook and I haven't gotten it back yet, so I may need to go out and get another.
I've tested the DP, HDMI, VGA, ethernet and both USB (A and C) ports with no issues. It would be nice to have an extra USB-A port or two in place of one of the less common video ports, but one USB-A is usually enough for my needs. Your needs may be different, of course. Video works flawlessly over any of those ports on an older 1080p monitor (VGA and HDMI tested) and a newer 1440p monitor (DP and HDMI tested).
One issue (which I knew up front and won't deduct a star for) is that the USB-C port on this hub does not do power or video pass-through (obviously, the DP, VGA and HDMI ports pass video just fine). You cannot power your device through this hub - the USB-C port is just for USB data transfer. What I will take a star for is the difficulty in using the design cleanly - the ports stick out in all directions, so if you have it set up on a desk with your display, ethernet and a USB device plugged in, each cable takes its own route out and it looks a bit like a spidery mess.
That said, I didn't run into any performance or functional issues using any of the supplied ports. I also have no worries about winding the cord up and tossing it in my laptop bag - I would have to work hard to do any damage to it.
Bottom line - if you don't know what kinds of projectors you might have to connect to and want a solid, portable hub to take with you for the odd emergency connection to your mostly USB-C laptop, this hub is a good choice. If you need to power your device through the hub, need more than one USB-A port or want to keep it on your desk longer-term without cables poking out in all directions, it might not be the best device for the job.

The Dell DA300u USB-C self contained video, Ethernet, USB adapter device.
This device allows laptops with USB-C ports to feed a video signal to an older VGA only monitor or to a newer HDMI input monitor or HDTV. There is also a DisplayPort output for monitors using that protocol.
Note: only 1 of the VGA, HDMI or DisplayPort outputs works at a time; not 2 or 3 monitors simultaneously.
In addition, it allows connecting the laptop to Ethernet if your laptop is Wi-Fi only. Lastly, the DA300u also has another “older” USB B speed full size port for connecting other desired devices such as a CD/DVD drive that laptops now do not include.
The DA300u includes about 6inches of USB-C cable that is loss-proof and that “reels in” and out by rotating the device itself. Neat in that it easily fits into any laptop case or bag. It uses USB-C for power (no batteries to recharge or power adapters needed).
It is small: about 2 ¾ inch diameter, 7/8 inch high.
Elegantly packed; the retail price is high though; get it on a discount

This Dell USB-C adapter is a great addition for laptops with USB-C ports. It's surprisingly small, but packs a ton of connectivity options in a small, clever package. The built-in USB-C cable is stored within, and twisting the base allows you to pull out or retract the cable-really useful to not have to carry around a USB-C to C cable. The cable extends about six inches or so.
Connectivity options for video include VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The digital ports support up to 4k, but the VGA is limited to 1080p. One limitation is that you can only use one of the video ports at a time, so no going for triple monitor setups.
There are two additional USB ports--a Type A port and an additional Type C, both rated up to 10Gbps. Here is where the striking confusion that has arisen in ports and standards rears its ugly head. Both Thunderbolt and USB use the Type C connector. IF your computer supports Thunderbolt, then a full 15W is provided to the ports, and both USB ports run at 10Gbps. However, if your port is only USB-C (which itself could be one of a variety of flavors of USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 specs!), then only *one* of the USB ports will work at a time, and the speed is limited to USB 2.0 (480 Mbps), presumably to preserve bandwidth for the hub's other functions (video, ethernet).
Speaking of ethernet, the included port is very nice for those using ultra thin laptops that lack a dedicated ethernet port. The port will work while using the adapter with an external monitor, so it becomes a full docking solution for a laptop, especially if you have a Thunderbolt port.
I tested this with both a Dell G3 17 gaming laptop, which does have Thunderbolt, and with a Samsung Chromebook, which does not. I was pleased to see the Chromebook work well with it, since it gave a variety of extra connection options along with ethernet that it lacked.
Overall, this is small and portable, easy to toss in a laptop bag, and serves as a Swiss Army knife of connections. Very useful in particular if you have a ultrabook with otherwise limited connections. Recommended.

Does not work! The USB C port on the dock won’t charge my laptop, and the dock is not working for connecting two monitors via HDMI and VGA. Only one works at a time. If I plug the VGA in first, it works but the HDMI doesn’t. If I plug the HDMI in first, then the HDMI works and the VGA doesn’t. Very bizarre and extremely frustrating. Complete piece of crap, not worth any value at all.

Hello Jacob,
Thank you for review. Unfortunately, you would be correct. The DA300 does NO support power delivery or video output from both display connections at the same time. This is simply a limitation of bandwidth due to its small size. We do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Regardless, your feedback is appreciated and will surely be considered when designing future products.

Power supply does not work & LAN connects loose

I a writing this review after many months of getting tired with it. So, I have a Dell XPS and I use this to connect my LAN wire and power supply. So, the power supply never worked. The LAN connection too is so loose, that the weight of the wire pulls it out. Even a little shift of the laptop pulls it out.
My bad, I should have returned it sooner and not hoped it will work.

Very Useful, tiny and stylish 6in1 Dock adapter

Very handy and well-made extended ports adapter. Nowadays laptops and newer computers come with fewer ports. In my case my XPS Dell only has 2 USB-C ports, and I need to carry many different USB-c adapters for video, USB-a, Ethernet, etc. So this 6in1 adapter is a perfect fit for my needs, it has everything I need to expand my Dell XPS, and doesn’t require any kind of power. The USB-C chord is retractable and can extend or retract when you turn the dock base. I like that! The size is just perfect and small enough to carry in my backpack.
This is also a great tool for travelers that works. I have connected my XPS USB-C port and I was able to use both extended ports, the USB-C and USB-A, no problem. It also has 3 video ports which are HDMI, VGA, and Display port. The 3 of them works as they should, but only one at a time. The 6th port is a Gigabit Ethernet port and works at the same time while the VGA and the 2 USB ports are connected.
The USB-C connector is a 10Gbps USB-C connection to the USB-C laptop port which can support 4K resolution at full 60Hz. If your laptop supports DP1.3 and above then you will be able to get 4K displays.
Many features and advantages on a tiny no powered require dock, and very affordable. I really like it!

The DA-300 is great for what is does. It allows you to add extra ports to your laptop through the USB-C port. It adds a 1GB Ethernet, DP, HDMI, VGA, and USB through USB-C and USB-A connections. It's compact, and the USB-C connector extends and retracts by twisting the device. It worked fine with all of the connections.
Items to remember, only one display adapter can be used at a time. Depending on your laptop's USB-C connection, you may only be able to use one USB port from the device at a time. It does not provide computer power, it's just a hub. If you say within the DA-300's design, it's fine.
At home it works fine since I can power my laptop directly from a power supply. On the road when I want to carry as little as possible, this takes up extra space compared to a hub that can transfer power too. If a laptop only has one USB-C port, I can't waste it on something that doesn't power the laptop too. Usually for the same price. But, it states what the DA-300 can and can't do. It's great at what it's supposed to do.

Very handy product. Here are quick positives
1) Very fast and responsive
2) Excellent 4k video support
3) No driver installations needed.
4) Faster file transmission
5) 6 in 1 ports - HDMI, VGA,DP, Ethernet, USB A and C.
6) Works on all OS - windows, mac and chrome os
7) Nice design. I really liked open/close thing.
This small device solves many small issues, example if you want to connect to router or mac or monitor irrespective of devices it covers everything, only thing is input is USB C which needs to be connected to C port. most of the current generation devices has C port so no issues in case if you have old laptop then you might need to add another adapter in middle. I do not see any issues or performance issue with this. thumbs up from my side. You will enjoy the product.

Must-have gadget for anyone on the go!

I am constantly on the go - whether it is work related or not. I always have at least one of my laptops with me and I'm not really sure how I lived without this USB-C mobile adapter! It's very small, sort of the size of a small hockey puck (but MUCH lighter) and packs a ton of ports for it's size. Connecting it to either my Mac laptop or PC laptop via USB-C, I'm able to connect many other devices one at a time or all at once. While connected via USB-C, I am able to connect and additional USB-C, Ethernet, regular USB (A), VGA display, Display Port, and -- my favorite -- HDMI! So much function in such a small gadget. I really think this is a must-have for anyone who is either on-the-go or stuck with a laptop that only has USB-C ports natively.
