Worst battery life

Battery lasts only 3 hrs on full charge which is very disappointing, when i am working on 2 excel sheets it gets stuck and i need to force restart the laptop. Audio is very very bad and laptop makes fan noise which is disgusting. I highly recommend not to buy this laptop

Poor performance for graphics, design, and excel

Sleek, Fast, and Quiet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, my first impressions of the Dell XPS 13 FHD are, this unit is sleek, light weight and well built. The build quality seems easily comparable to a macbook. In fact the whole computer is reminiscent of the macbook airs. It was very easy to set up and get started. Nothing unusual there but the setup did go quickly and smoothly. Only downside right off the bat was that it is hard to open. Maybe the one handed open feature will wear in after some more use. The keyboard is very comfortable to use especially for a smaller laptop. The packaging was premium as well. The charger is small and compact just like this computer. The only downside is that due to its sleek design there isn't much room for many ports. It only has two USB type C ports. One on either side. You will need to use these to charge your XPS laptop. My concern is that USB type C ports can wear out over time. Only time will tell. If you want to use this laptop with headphones, you will need bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth connectivity on windows devices just isn't the most friendly experience yet. The XPS does come with a "dongle" that will include a DAC (Digital Audio Converter) to go from USB-C to 1.8mm headphone jack. You can also purchase a USB hub. There are many on the market and you can get ones that include HDMI, 1.8mm headphones, SD/micro SD card readers and USB type A connectors plus even some extras like VGA for connecting projectors or older hardware. The battery life is not the best on this unit but it will fully charge in just over 2 hours so it's not a deal breaker especially because the charger is so portable. This model comes with an FHD screen which looks nice but is not comparison to the oled models which offer a premium viewing experience for watching videos or even photo editing. Overall this is a very sleek, fast, quiet little beast of a computer. Great for many applications. I use it mainly for audio and video editing. Also there are plenty of cases and skins available for this guy since it's such a popular model.

Great performance, one major flaw
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The XPS line of laptops has always had the reputation of being one of the best PC models you can purchase. This XPS 13 fits the bill in almost every way...except for one pretty major problem. That problem? The keyboard. If you were to use this keyboard with your eyes closed you'd think it was perfect. The travel is great, the size and spacing is great...but the color and the backlight? Not so much... I'm not sure why Dell decided to go with light gray keys and an only slightly darker shade of gray for the characters on the keys. If you're using this in the dark with the backlighting on - no issues whatsoever. But as soon as you're in any sort of light? Different story. It's not just sunlight that is the problem (though that makes it nearly impossible to discern what's on the keys no matter what settings you use for the backlighting)...but even regular fluorescent light in the office makes the keys almost illegible. If you turn the backlight completely off it's a little better, but I still find myself needing to lean into the keyboard to find the volume & brightness buttons. I'm a touch-typer so regular use isn't that terrible when in a well-lit environment, but as soon as I need to find a function key, I'm lost. All that said...if you can look past the keyboard, this laptop is actually pretty great. The battery life has been great for me - I can last the whole workday without needing to be plugged in. The screen is super sharp and color accurate. The trackpad is great, and even the speakers are surprisingly full for a laptop this small. Performance hasn't been lacking either - I'm able to render 1080p video at a very good clip (averaging 15 minutes to render an hour long video). While I don't play the most demanding games, I've had no issues using the XPS 13 to play a few hours of Stardew Valley or Civilization 6. My routine workload in Chrome (10+ tabs) doesn't cause any hiccups, and I'm able to have stuff like Teams and Outlook running in the background all day with no performance hit. All in all, this is a good computer with that one physical flaw of the keyboard color/lighting. I've just put the laptop up on a stand and use a bluetooth keyboard while in my office and I'm off and running. If your setup will be similar - or if your normal work environment is on the more dimly-lit side - you'll be happy with this laptop.

I tried to used it on my WFH setup (2 monitors, dock, etc) and it just couldn’t perform. The laptop started to overheat (fan noise too loud too) and the overall performance just slowed down (just with quite of tabs open and a YouTube video playing). Dell must work on its cooling system.
