Light compact laptop with a very nice 13-inch display. Resolution is great with vibrant colors and plenty of brightness. The Core I7 10 core CPU is a very substantial processor for something this small. The clock speed is pretty low (1.1 GHz) which probably limits performance somewhat but for thermal reasons I’m sure it can’t go much higher in such a small case. 1TB of disk storage is ample for most computing tasks. Rather surprised to see 32GB of memory. I can’t imagine what types of work someone would be doing on a lightweight ultra-portable laptop that would need that much RAM, but I’ll never complain about having too much. The aluminum case feels nice to the touch, track pad is large and works well as expected. There is no pen or touch input on this so be advised if that is a feature you are looking for. Being small and lightweight, it does have limited connection options. There are only 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports that are used for connecting to devices, as well as charging the laptop. It is nice that the port on either side can be used for charging. Under load you can hear the cooling fan(s) running. It’s not annoying by any means but is noticeable. Kind of surprised such a small laptop could move that much air. The vents are hidden on the bottom left and right edges and not noticeable unless looking for them. The case gets a little warm on the bottom when running hard but never gets hot and is comfortable on the lap. Battery life is good and charges quickly with supplied USB-C charger. The power brick is also fairly small and charging cable is approximately 6 feet long plus another 2 feet or so with the cord that plugs into the wall. I ran some a couple of benchmarking utilities, and the results were slightly better than average and, in my opinion, rather good for something this small. It should have plenty of power for most tasks including light gaming. There’s a little bit of pre-installed app bloat but not all that bad and easily removed, I’ve seen way worse. I was kind of surprised how many separate Dell Apps get installed though.

This smaller laptop is packed with power. The 13.4” display has an anti-reflective finish which was very comfortable for me while using it on my back porch or in my home office. The footprint is not too small and not too big. I found this size very useful on a couple weekend trips where I needed portability plus a powerful PC. I like the backlit keyboard so I can use the laptop without turning on overhead lights that might disturb others in the living room or bedroom – sometimes a major consideration. The price-point is small for these outstanding specifications: Major strength areas are the CPU 12th gen core i7, speedy 32 GB DDR5 memory, and the 1 TB solid state drive. Another upscale feature is two Thunderbolt 4 ports. You use these ports for data or power, and you have one on each side of the laptop which facilitates your connection to power/data on either side. Thunderbolt 4 is similar to USB-C in shape but handles many more features – it is a big more powerful step up from USB-C. Thunderbolt will give you faster charging, higher bandwidth for data and can support up to 5 devices on one port. Wow, another tip of the cap to the Dell engineers for this design point. This unit also has a fast charge battery and your fastest WiFi technology of 802.11ax. This little 3-pound wonder has become my main go to PC. I did use it for low/mid end gaming and the sound, with a bit more bass than you might expect, was great. Also the Intel Iris Graphics worked flawlessly – no visual artifacts or flickering. These gaming runs helped me ensure this small package with so much power is getting cooled properly which is very important. Tip of the cap to the Dell engineers. I also found that multi-tasking by using spreadsheets, doing presentations, creating documents and reading email was no problem for this sleek powerful laptop. I am very impressed with the features built into this unit. Dell has assembled top of line technology in a very attractive package. I can highly recommend this laptop.
