Good battery life especially when it’s on safe mode. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, and the trackpad is precise and responsive. Plus, the premium aluminum and carbon fiber design gives it a modern, high-end feel. Futuristic look. It is a fantastic choice for professionals, students, and anyone who wants a powerful, stylish, and ultra-portable laptop. Highly recommended!

The Dell XPS 13 is a great lightweight laptop, built for portability. It weighs in at 2.6lbs and is only .60inches thick, and at 11.62" x 7.84" it's almost the same size as a standard spiral paper notebook. The XPS 13 could easily fit inside a medium to large purse and virtually any backpack or briefcase. Depending on the intensity of the usage, the battery could last for up to 18 hours, outlasting most trips. Charging from zero to 100% takes less than 1.5hrs with the correct wattage charger. Chargers with less than 60W will still work but effect the rate of charge. The design is pretty stream lined with the function buttons and touchpad seamlessly hidden under the Gorilla Glass 3. The touchpad does use haptics and can be tapped or pressed to activate a mouse button click. While there is no outline for the touchpad, one can define the edges of it with the spacebar, as it lines up perfectly with the edges of that. The rest of the body is made from aluminum, which gives everything a lightweight but solid and durable feel. Depending on what is going on with the laptop(starting or logged in), the top row of keys under the glass will light up as the "F" keys or they will actually display the media shortcut functions, ie. volume, brightness, prt sc and etc. This feature can also be toggled by holding the "fn" key. The Display has a locking hinge that opens to approximately 135 degrees. The LED FHD+ display looks pretty good. The colors look pretty vibrant although I typically like to enable the blue light reduction features on all of my screens which generally offsets the colors slightly. The screen does offer HDR and different color profiles to fit anyone's preference. The refresh rate is 120Hz with a 35ms response time. The brightness is 500nits with a contrast ratio of 2000:1 The display itself is not a touchscreen, although I must admit that I think all screens this small should have touch capabilities and open a full 360 degrees for ease of use. The performance is pretty solid with the i7 processor and 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, (upgradeable to 64GB LPDDR5X). I have had no issues with using this for work or entertainment. The integrated GPU would probably be okay for a lot of web based games and downloaded games set at the lower performance and display options. Just out of curiosity, I downloaded a Quake 2 demo and it played, but it was pretty glitchy as expected. Fortnite ran okay. Call of Duty Warzone was very laggy, again as expected because this is not a gaming pc. Benchmarking tests showed favorable results for performance with most production apps, photo editing and digital content creation. All the Microsoft Office apps ran very well. I was able to edit my 234sheet Excel spreadsheet without issues and I was even able to extract all my pages as individual .pdfs in less than 3.5minutes. It used to take my old desktop 15minutes or more to do the same thing. I also had no issues with Word or any of the other office apps. This does have WIFI 7 so downloads work very fast if you are connected to a similar speed network. The laptop does come pre-installed with the Killer app to help prioritize and increase network speeds. The 13" screen might seem limiting at times, but don't worry, this laptop does support additional screens. Even though the device only has 2 ports on it, they are both Thunderbolt 4 ports. So you can plug in a multitude of various devices using a hub or USB C adapters. Through this option you can plug into your big screen TVs, monitors, or even portable display screens. While on the go they do make attachable screens that run off your own device's USB for power. I use a lot of apps running at the same time, so larger screens or additional screens are preferred for me. If you don't have access to additional screens, then the Windows Snap feature can help you to manage all your additional windows. The XPS 13 does come with a dedicated Copilot key to easily access AI features. From here either you can type, or hit the mic button to voice your requests and Copilot will do it's best to help you out with opening apps, checking the weather or assisting you in writing projects. Additional features include a fingerprint sensor, backlit keys and 2 web cameras with infrared sensors for low to no light settings. When under a heavy workload the bottom does get pretty hot, but the temp is usually negligible during general usage. The cooling fans are noticeable when they kick on but are relatively quiet. Overall, this laptop is a great option for someone looking for a portable pc, it's so light and small it can be carried virtually anywhere. The AI based optimization software automatically fine-tunes your PC for the best performance, audio, video, and battery life possible. The keyboard uses full size keys for a better typing experience than most smaller devices. It's nice being able to keep everything on one device going from office to home or in between. I have a hub set up at home and work with additional displays, mice and printers for a seamless transition from work, travel and back home.

    The tiny beauty laptop

The Dell XPS 13 is a beautiful and capable tiny laptop with a few trade off. It is nicely built and smooth to the touch and it’s gorgeous. The laptop is very small and light, so small it’s almost the width of a cell phone. The screen is 13 inches, extremely bright and it almost touches the edges making it look bezel-less. It is not a touch screen but it does have a couple of haptic shortcuts buttons on the upper edge of the keyboard. Those buttons are very responsive and they are backlit. The mouse pad is super smooth and responsive and I love how it blends with the restpad. In other words there is no separation between the mouse and the restpad, it is just one continuous look. The keyboard of course is tight due to the size. It feels like typing on a tablet with a keyboard attached. The keys are soft and quiet, and do not attract fingerprints and they also backlit. The keyboard also has a dedicated button for Windows Co-Pilot AI. The power button which will be hard to find the first time, unless you pay attention to the plastic cover that will be on it when you unbox the device. That power button will be next to the backspace and for unknown reason it is not labeled. That button is also a fingerprint scanner. This laptop comes with Intel Core Ultra 155H processor, 16GB of memory, 512GB SSD and Intel ARC graphics. It has Bluetooth and only two Thunderbolt ports. Setting it up is very simple, especially if you already have a Microsoft email. It is a laptop so pretty much you can throw anything at it. In my experience this laptop is great for traveling, work and entertainment. It is extremely light and is like carrying a tablet. It only weighs 2.6 lbs. Battery life according to the manufacturer you'll get approximately 18 hours. After the initial full charge I did some moderate usage including live streaming and the battery after 3 days it was still over 50%. For this being such a tiny device the speakers are surprisingly loud. If you are looking for a laptop to play video games, I will say go elsewhere. This specific model will be able to handle mobile games as much. I tried some COD online gaming and not even at the lowest setting I was getting graphics artifacts. In other words, high demand graphics games will not play well here. The screen is super bright, vivid and the color reproductions it’s just beautiful. On the front of the display it has a 1080p 30fps front facing camera and IR camera. The front facing camera actually takes good pictures. It also works great for unlocking the device using facial unlock. With the help of the IR camera it is definitely a breeze to unlock the laptop in dark places. The integrated fingerprint reader works almost instantaneously. The only trade-offs that I found on this laptop was the lack of ports. It only has 2 thunderbolts and when it’s plugged to the power it leaves you with 1. That being said, if the primary use of this device will be for work, you will need a multi ports hub. Another thing that caught my attention was how the outer chassis was a fingerprint magnet. It was totally the opposite from the inside. Literally wherever you place your finger upper or under your fingers will leave a mark. Overall this tiny and lightweight laptop is a great device for traveling, some work and definitely entertainment. It is beautiful and nicely designed to include a glass panel for the haptic buttons. The screen is bright and vivid, and it comes with a great set of loud speakers. Despite having only two ports they can easily be extended with a port hub (not included). It is super quiet, responsive and it runs cool. In the box you get the laptop, power brick and some manuals.

TLDR - This is a really nice well-rounded laptop that can be used for many different purposes. It’s powerful enough for basic gaming and the Intel Core Ultra 7 can handle multimedia creation as well as multitasking. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been building/specking out a gaming desktop and laptop. It’s been a painstaking process, but it’s also been a great learning process for me since I’ve been a Mac user almost exclusively for 15+ years now. Fortunately, I was able to take that new experience and apply it to this remarkable, pocket-sized laptop. The first thing I noticed was its build quality and style. It is very reminiscent of the MacBook Air series of notebooks and it feel incredibly solid. While it’s still very lightweight, I feel that daily use is not going to wear out the laptop case easily. When I opened up the lid, I continued to be impressed with the touch bar, nearly invisible fingerprint reader/power button, and the hidden trackpad. All of these design features seem to be taken from 2016 MacBook series laptops and it looks amazing on the Dell. The startup process is not surprising at all. You are taken through the standard set of Windows startup screens and a couple of Dell ones. After I walked through that, I immediately opened the resource monitor to see what type of drag there already was on the system. Sitting idle, the resource monitor showed a CPU usage range between 2% and 40%. I performed the system update, which took 30 - 60 minutes and then noticed that the Task Manager was showing 2% CPU, 51% Memory, and 1% Disk usage. As it turned out, the largest part of the memory usage was taken up by MyDell, Service Host, SupportAssistAgent, and Windows Explorer. I point this out because of the 70 apps that were pre-installed, 10 of them were related to Dell’s system software. At this point, I removed some of the pieces of software that I did not want on the system (Microsoft Office apps were still present even though I opted out of the Office 365 Trial) and then ran benchmark tests using Geekbench and NovaBench. The single-core and multi-core scores from Geekbench were 1465 and 9652 respectively. In Geekbench’s database, there were 7 other Dell XPS 13 laptops with the same processor logged. My Dell ranked 6 out of 8 in the single-core score and 3 out of 8 with the multi-core score. The NovaBench test stated that my Dell system ranks higher than 78% of all systems tested and it had an overall score of 2062. Aside from design and performance, I found that the keyboard was very easy and comfortable to type on and while the speakers aren’t the best I’ve ever used, they aren’t bad either. The screen is an LED and is listed as WUXGA, which is between Full HD and a 2K resolution. The brightness is rated at 500 nits and I had it turned to approximately 60% for the majority of my testing and it was more than sufficient in the brightness and clarity department. One of the more impressive aspects of this mini-laptop is the battery life. I tried my best to work it hard with updates and benchmark testing and it still had quite a bit of battery life left. After several hours of work with it, the battery still shows 28% left. While it may not be enough for heavy gaming activities, this Dell laptop is ideal for power users who travel. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for that purpose.

The Dell XPS 13 got an overhaul for 2024, and it’s better than ever. It offers a sleek design, powerful performance, and long battery life in a compact and lightweight package. Design The Dell XPS 13 features a sleek, minimalist design with a graphite aluminum chassis. It's a thin and light laptop, measuring just over a half-inch thick and weighing 2.6 pounds. The XPS 13 is also very durable, thanks to its aluminum construction and Gorilla Glass 3 display. The keyboard is compact, but the keys are also very large, making it comfortable to type on. The lack of separation between keys will take some getting used to for some, but overall the keyboard layout is quite decent, and the backlighting is a nice addition as well. My one gripe with the keyboard is the top row being touch activated. I absolutely do not like this feature, and I’m not sure why Dell chose to go this route, but here we are. The weird top row keyboard design choice is almost completely forgiven by the incredible seamless glass touchpad that just feels great. Performance The XPS 13 is powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra i7-155H processor, which offers excellent performance for everyday tasks and even some light gaming. The new neural processing unit (NPU) in this laptop can offload certain processes and, in turn, gives you more power when you need it and longer battery life when you don’t. The laptop also comes with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB NVMe drive, which provides plenty of storage space and fast load times. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 is also welcomed, as we are seeing more Wi-Fi 7 routers becoming available in 2024. Connectivity otherwise is pretty slim as there are only 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports available and one will more than likely be used to charge your laptop more often than not. Being left with just one port will mean you may want to invest in a USB-C dongle for legacy USB devices, SD Cards or external display connectivity. Display The XPS 13 features a 13.4-inch LED display with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels. The display is bright and colorful, with exceptional viewing angles. It’s also anti-reflective and even at only 1080P is extremely clear with no noticeable pixels. The screen really shines with deep black and colorful highlights when watching videos or playing games. Battery Life The XPS 13 offers splendid battery life, with the 1080P model lasting up to 18 hours on a single charge. This makes it a great choice for students, business professionals, and anyone else who requires a laptop that can last all day on the go. This laptop can really last all day, I’ve tested it and got around 14 hours doing various things, including watching some videos and even playing a game for a bit. Overall The Dell XPS 13 is a great option for anyone looking for a premium ultraportable laptop. It offers a sleek design, powerful performance, and long battery life in a compact and lightweight package.

Although in the past I have opted for laptops with larger screens, this 13.4" laptop has become one of my favorites because of how practical and light it is. Something that we mainly admire in a laptop is its design. This Dell XPS 13 has a very elegant, simple, minimalist design. However, it must be said that this ends up compromising other areas, something simple like opening the laptop, because the design is very thin on the edges, sometimes it is a little tricky to open the laptop. It also seems that part of the design is that it comes with only two usb-c thunderbolt ports. It goes without saying that either one of them is for charging the laptop, and considering that we currently have a variety of peripherals that we connect to our devices, it seems an area for improvement. Although you can always buy a usb hub, that does not detract from the fact that more usb ports would not be a bad idea. Another thing we are interested in when choosing a laptop is the screen. We want it to be as colorful, bright and sharp as possible. The XPS 13 with a 1920x1200 resolution, 500 nits brightness, 120 Hz refresh rate LED display excels in this respect. The image is clear and sharp, the color reproduction quite good. Watching series, movies, content on platforms and social networks, it has been a very pleasant experience. The brightness is so good that I sometimes wish I could turn it down a bit more, even though this is already at the minimum level. Regarding the keyboard and touchpad, both serve their purpose very well. I love the design of the keyboard, it covers all the top space from side to side, the keys feel very comfortable and responsive, the brightness is right and can be modified to taste. The function keys are not exactly physical keys, it's more like a touchpad. It keeps the shortcut icons illuminated and it turns them off when you press the Fn key to light on the function key icons. I consider it a fun feature. The touchpad at first appears to span the entire bottom space from side to side just below the keyboard, but the reality is that it doesn't, it's just a square space in the middle part of the underside of the keyboard. This touchpad does not have a physical (mechanical) response, that is, if you press the touchpad does not sink to click rather gives you a haptic response that simulates the physical click, they call it seamless glass haptic touchpad. The webcam works ok, it is not the best on the market but with good lighting it delivers a good result. Similarly the face recognition is fine but can be improved. What responds in a better and faster way is the fingerprint reader, if configured correctly the response time to unlock the device is almost instantaneous, very good in that aspect. What surprised me for good are the speakers, and I have to say that I have tried other laptops and the sound is not the strongest point in many of them, however in this device the thing is a little different. Although they are not the most scandalous speakers the result is more than acceptable to be honest. Regarding the battery I could say that it performs on average what almost any laptop, about 5 or 7 hours maybe more maybe less, but it must be said that it depends on the use and mainly on the power settings and the brightness of the screen, so it will depend on the use that each user gives it. Last but not least, performance. But this is where the decision of choice gets a little complicated, because the fact that the laptop does not have a dedicated graphics card and instead the processor is the one that somehow carries this task, makes us wonder what tasks we are looking for in a laptop. Because if we want a laptop to do day to day tasks whether it is work, school or home office, watch movies and series from time to time, play a casual game or even coding, etc, this is a very good option without a doubt. But if your intention is to create content, edit photos and/or videos with even some visual effects, play triple A games or competitively, and more things that require extensive graphics usage, this is not the laptop for such tasks. I did some tests like cinebench where it scores well but is not at the level of desktop processors or premium laptops. I also try to edit in davinci resolve 18 but it becomes slow, although it could carry with simple editions, could not complete a more elaborate and professional looking edit. Programs like these consume more ram memory and as this memory is shared between the processor and integrated graphics, and considering that it only comes with 16GB, it makes tasks such as video editing very difficult to achieve. Something that I consider important to share is that it is advisable to download and install all windows updates and software drivers that need to be updated. The laptop comes with a Dell app, as a kind of control center, where you can customize various aspects and functions of the device. All in all, the Dell XPS 13 is a visual delight of a laptop with its sleek design. It has what it takes and a little more to perform with ease the tasks and demands of everyday life, which inevitably increasingly requires us to be connected almost anywhere we are. The sound and image are outstanding, as well as the internal power of its processor that makes this 13.4" laptop powerful and light at the same time. So if your demands do not exceed the capabilities of this device and you prefer something compact and elegant, this is an excellent alternative.

I’ve been using computers in some form for 30+ years. I’ve used just about every type of system available; macOS, Chromebook, Windows, even dabbled in some Linux systems. We have a few gaming PCs in our household, and I was primarily using a Chromebook for my day-to-day work. I was looking for a new slim Windows laptop that didn’t sacrifice performance. Enter Dell’s 2024 XPS 13. This little powerhouse checks off all the boxes for an ultra-portable laptop. Small, but vibrant and crisp screen, powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 processor with 16GB of Ram and 512GB of storage. With all those high-end specs you would expect some great performance, and this XPS delivers that in spades. I’ve been using it for about a few days now and have been very happy with the overall performance and battery life. I can easily get through a day of work without worrying if I am near a power outlet. I generally charge it up at night, and it can easily make it through an 8-hour workday, with some usage when I get home as well. The aesthetics and build quality are on another level from most every other laptop I have ever used. The closest to this would have to be a MacBook, they share the same almost all metal build and minimal design. When you open the laptop and begin using it, you notice that nothing else quite compares. Even though you are using a 13.4” laptop, you never feel confined. The screen stretches to the edges and has minimal bezels. Likewise, the keyboard also stretches all the across the deck, so keys feel roomy and easy to use. The touchpad is in the center of the wrist rest area but is invisible since it is just a large piece of Gorilla Glass. You still get the nice haptic feel when you ‘press’ the touchpad. The row of F keys / media keys is also just glass with capacitive buttons. The entire look comes together and looks futuristic and minimalistic. The only downside, and it is just a quibble at this point, is that you only get 2 USB-C ports, one on each side. While I do like that you get one port on each side to make it easier to connect to an outlet, it would have been nice to have at least one extra port. Luckily, I already have a few USB-C hubs, so if I need to extra ports, I can just use one of those, but that just means I need to have one in my bag. This is a great Windows laptop. I could easily recommend it to someone looking for a Mighty Mouse laptop. It is slim, light, powerful, has lots of battery time, with an amazing futuristic look. This has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of tech I have used over the last 12 months, maybe longer.

If you want a real laptop for productivity, 13" is the sweet spot for size. For me, the Dell XPS 13 U7 replaced a very old Windows ARM 13" laptop - so this was a big upgrade! In the Box Unboxing the Dell XPS 13 U7 I actually wowed, because the packaging is very premium. It is in black cardboard box that looks and feels cool. There's also no plastic, so it's 100% recyclable. In the box is: - the Dell XPS U7 - a small 60W USB Power Supply (more on that later) - the ususal warranty and compliance paperwork. Setup It's Windows 11, so. it's fairly straightforward. Some things to note that I like, the Dell XPS13 U7 supports Windows Hello facial (camera) login and also has a fingerprint reader. Nice. During setup was the only time I heard the fan power up, typical Microsoft lots of updates on first run. There was no bloat other than McAffee. Design The screen is bright, no bleed, and blacks are on point. It's a non touch screen, I don't see this as a deal breaker as the the XPS 13 doesn't clamshall flip. Even if it looks kinda like a Microsoft surface. This brings me to the keyboard, I have not seen anything like this before. There's no spaces between the keys and it's very flat (but great travel). I took a photo so you can see. It also has no visible touchpad, but there is a touchpad (See photo). I don't know how else to describe other than the area where the touchpad is doesn't show a touchpad, but it works and clicks and is a great touchpad. It makes the Dell XPS 13 look premium. Keys are backlit. There's no function keys, they're backlit touch sensitive controls that can switch between (default) volume, mute, brightness, etc. and if you use the Fn key, Functions. It's not a Mac-like touchbar, just different backlights depending on the function. See the picture. Somewhat sneaky, the XPS 13 has 2 USB C ports, but you lose one to he charger, so you really have only 1 USB C sport spare. Given most things connect via Bluetooth this may or may not be a deal breaker - but, for example, I connected to my external monitor using a USB C to HDMI cable, so if you need extra ports, pick yourself up a USB C dock. Oh, something to note the Dell XP 13 U7 has a Microsoft CoPilot AI key - first time I have seen this on a laptop or keyboard ever. So this is very much a laptop for the moment and future. Performance This is my first time using the Intel U7 chipset and it flies. Apps are fast, responsive, and outside of the Windows Update, it runs quiet and there was no sound of the fan. I'm not sure if it only runs when you need it, but either way, I would say it's a quiet laptop and doesn't run hot. I was surprised it requires a 60W USB C power supply. If you try and cheat with a lower wattage power supply you do get a warning (on boot via BIOS if coming from a cold start, but you can disable the warnings). I did sneak on some basic games, Civilization and Among Us, just for fun. Civ is the bit more demanding on Intel Arc graphics and it played flawlessly and looked great on the FHD display. I have installed EPIC and Steam but didn't do any casual gaming yet because I plan to use this primarily for working from home so I don't need to drag home my work laptop. I have a Dell Desktop gaming PC for real gaming! I've uploaded a NovaBench screenshot for those who want to really benchmark things. Battery Life I commute to and from work (bus) that takes an hour each way. I used the laptop for catching up on emails, at about 75% brightness tethered to my phone. There was no issue with the battery life and and I think I could get almost a full days runtime on battery but yet to really put it through a pressure test in that area. Overall Thoughts I really love this laptop and would have no hesitation recommending it. It's light, the screen is great, and Dell have been more than generous with 16Gb of Memory, a 512GB NVME and the U7/Evo chipset combination. The sreen is bright, near borderless, and the facial recognition Windows hello sign in, CoPilot AI key make me feel like the Dell XPS 13 U7 will last me for many years to come. Definitely worth buying. I can't really think of a single way I would change it other than it having an extra USB C port.

Right out of the box the first thing that hit me is the professional look and feel of this laptop. The case is aluminum, and the palm rest is glass with a seamless touchpad. It's very handsome and the high-quality build is evident. This laptop is equipped with an Intel Core 7 Ultra CPU, which has Intel's latest high end processor technology. The Intel Arc GPU on the other hand is entry level while the 16GB RAM is more than enough for multitasking and demanding applications. The 512GB SSD storage is adequate. The LED display (not a touch screen) is bright with brilliant colors. It's full HD 1920 x 1200, with up to 120Hz refresh rate so there will be no blurring in high action videos. The keyboard keys are backlit and slightly oversized, with no space between keys, which I like. They have a nice comfortable feel. The media/function keys are touch keys. Media is always on; you toggle to see the function numbers. There are only 2 Thunderbolt Type C ports, no USB Type A ports. If you have standard USB Type A plug-in peripherals that you like to use, you'll need an adapter to use them. There are no other ports and no optical disc drive. The sound quality is excellent. It has an 8W quad speaker design with Dolby Atmos and Waves MaxxAudio spatial sound. Obviously, you can't get booming bass out of a slim laptop, but the sound is immersive, clear, and balanced. Listening to music is thoroughly enjoyable. Once you run through the initial windows setup, start-up time is relatively quick, under 30 seconds. A restart takes a full minute. But the best way to leave it when you're done using it is to put it in Sleep mode. From Sleep mode start-up is instant-on. The screen is on and it's ready to go as soon as you open it. The Sleep mode instant-on is one of the four Intel EVO Edition branding requirements that you get with this laptop. Besides the instant-on from sleep, you're guaranteed 10 hours of battery life with the screen on and 4 hours of battery life in 30 minutes of charging, and quiet and cool operation. And in fact, this laptop is very quiet. Overall this is an excellent laptop great for home, work at home, students, business travelers and casual users. It's compact, lightweight, high quality and fast. And from my experience with other Dell computers it will be reliable and you'll get excellent support from Dell when you need it.

I recently got the Dell XPS, and I’m impressed! The sleek design and stunning display are perfect for work and entertainment. It’s super fast, and the battery easily lasts through my day. The keyboard feels great, but I wish it had more ports. Still, an amazing laptop overall!

    Not Up To My Expectations

The laptop was easy to set up and synced with my WIFI immediately. The screen was bright with vivid colors. This was my first Dell product so I really did not know what to expect. I have so many mixed feelings about the Dell XPS 13-13.4 FHD Laptop Intel Core Ultra 7 EVO Edition. I love the size and weight of the laptop. It is perfect to carry in backpack. I even carried it in my tote when traveling. It takes up very little room. But that is where my loves ended. I found it difficult to open the laptop easily. It is so tightly put together with no tab to slide finger into. There is no visible lines or any way to feel where the mouse pad is. I like to be able to feel it as I glide around using using it. So I know where it starts and ends. I kept getting off it and look down to figure out where it was. The keys are also very hard to use. My fingers just glide over them without feeling the keys. So typings was a bit slower. The laptop itself was much slower than I expected from Intel Core Ultra 7. I am just so disappointed. It may be great for lower grade students who do not require speed. However I would not recommend for college students or small businesses.

Overall this is exactly what I was looking for, a laptop that travels with me, is lightweight, has a good size screen, responsive keyboard, and handles all my day to day work. This checks all my boxes. Let's get into the review. Unboxing/Setup Right away out of the box I could tell this was going to be a great experience. The laptop comes in a very sturdy box and inside the laptop is wrapped in a smaller box. The anticipation was building as I unboxed each one.One I reached the actual laptop I was impressed with how slim and lightweight it was. This checked my first and biggest need, lightweight and slim. Holy cow, I could hardly wait to start using it. I travel for my work and am constantly on the go, and this is exactly what I needed.Inside you get a very slim USB C charging cable. This was a bonus, I was expecting the typical bulky charging cable and this is not bulky. This cable will pack nicely in my travels as well without taking up much room and it is lightweight also so you barely notice you have it. You also get a quick set up card with QR code that will direct you to the website to view the full manual if you need it. Now it was time to set up the device. Unfortunately this was not the experience I was used to. I opened the lid and expected the device to wake up, but it did not. Next I had to search for the power button. I checked the usual places, the side of the unit and for a dedicated key on the keyboard. It was not obvious at first, turns out it is the small unmarked key in the upper right, next to the backspace key. I probably should have read the quick start guide, but finding the power button had never been an issue for me before. I actually like this placement and unmarked design, and later I learned this is also the fingerprint button. GENIUS!!!! This is like finding an easter egg in movies,...,.. There are more to come.. I had to charge the unit before I could use it. Not a big deal but I was expecting it to have some juice right out of the box. Now that it has been charged I am ready to get started with the set up. Well…. When I pressed the power button I was directed to a bootup screen and the device spent about 20 min downloading updated BIOS software. I was a little bummed here but let it work its magic and finish all downloads before I was able to continue. Now that the downloads had finished installing the laptop rebooted and finally I was on the windows 11 start up screen. I went through all the typical setup screens and was finally ready to put this laptop through the paces. Experience Now that I am able to use the laptop the next easter egg I found was, the trackpad…. At first glance the bottom of the laptop where our hands rest and where the trackpad should be, looked like one solid piece. So where is the trackpad? Exactly where it should be. It takes a little getting used to in order to find ecstasy where you can touch and use the touchpad without going to far left or right. I find I use a bluetooth mouse most of the time but the touchpad is awesome and I live that is is embedded as part of the laptop and you do not see it separately. Next Easter egg.,.... The Function row above the number keys. WOW….. they light up and stay lit all the time when using the device. But you can CHANGE the buttons by pressing the FN key and get the second set of options like volume, and screen brightness. LOVE THIS. They are haptic and not dedicated keys like the keyboard. These are awesome…. Again less physical keys on the keyboard yet super functional. The keyboard is perfect, the keys are thin but have the right amount of resistance to let you know you have pressed them. I was waiting to see the backlit keys….. In regular light they are not lit… but once the lit is dimmed or you work in low level light situations the keys light up right away. And stay lit while in that environment. I have had other backlit keyboards that only light when you are typing and 5-10 seconds of pausing will cause them to go off. Not these.. They stay lit as long as the device is awake and in a low light situation. LOVE THIS. I primarily use this for work, so creating documents, spreadsheets, emails, and things like that. The camera works well for online meetings, and the speakers are actually quite good. Connecting a bluetooth device is super easy, I connected my bluetooth mouse and bluetooth headphones super easy. The display is fantastic. There is nearly NO BEZEL which makes the display look large!!!!! The face recognition is nice, but it takes longer that it should. I have had other laptops with this and they are nearly instant with the recognition. This laptop takes a second or two for the camera to engage and then another 1-3 seconds to recognize you, and you have to be pretty close to the device. If I am using it on my lap, I have to pick it up and bring it closer to my face for it to work. Ports So you only get 2 Thunderbolt 4 connections, one on each side. Both can be used for charging. If you want to connect USB Drives or external devices you will need a port replicator with USB C HUB. I plan to try that soon but have not had the opportunity yet. Summary For me the set up was a little longer than normal, but once I got going this is my favorite laptop ever.

I recently purchased the Dell XPS 13 – Evo Edition from Best Buy, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The Intel Core Ultra 7 and 16GB RAM handle multitasking effortlessly, while the 13.4” FHD+ display is crisp and vibrant. It’s lightweight, making it perfect for travel, and the battery life easily lasts a full day. Highly recommend for anyone needing a reliable and portable laptop! this laptop hits the sweet spot.

The packaging looks very good. Great presentation. Upon open the laptop for first use, the first thing I noticed is that there is no clearly marked power button. The only documentation I could find was on the web site for this specific model. I found the manual after discovering the power button on my own. Just a heads up the power button is to the right of the backspace key. . The power button not only turns on the machine it plays double duty as a fingerprint reader. Having the manual online without a quick start guide is a poor feature that Dell for some reason thinks is a good idea. The only documentation in the box is a picture diagram on where to plug in the power cord for charging the less than stellar battery as well as safety paperwork. Once I looked at the film that is placed in between the screen and keyboard for shipping, the next day, I discovered that an indicator for the power/fingerprint button and where the touch pad for mouse movement is was printed on it. This is a white transparent sheet with white printing on it. They should have made it higher contrast and printed it with black ink so it stands out better. One thing that this laptop is not short on is bloatware. There are so many apps that are not really needed, If they want to offer these apps it should be the choice of the purchaser to install them or not. Apps include Spotify, LinkedIn, Mcafee Virus Software, Luminar Neo - AI Photo Editor, Microsoft Clipchamp, Microsoft 365 and various Dell Apps. No need for all of this taking up precious storage space on the 512GB SSD. Why can’t major computer makers just put the OS on the machine and include links on the website to download and install what you want. Based on the specs listed on Bestbuy’s web site, nowadays 16GB of memory is not high for any computer. That is a good starting point. Another disappointment with this laptop is the lack of ports. There are only two USB-C ports. So if you want or need more you will have to buy a USB-C hub. I had to do this to get an ethernet port and USB type A ports. Including software for phot and video editing with no easy way to get files from SD cards is not the most ideal either. So when choosing a USB hub you may want to look for that feature as well as an HDMI port for an external monitor if that is needed. This type of hub should be included standard in most modern sleek laptops with limited ports. One thing that stood out to me it the screen resolution and clarity. While watching steaming media I couldn’t help but notice how crisp the picture was. Something else I notice was the speed of apps opening and the speed of which the websites open. The wifi is very good on this. The keyboard is also nice to use even though it is compact on the 13.4” monitor version. I also like the touch function row at the top of the keyboard. The touch function are very responsive and when you press the FN key the functions change from a set of controls to F-keys Where the touchpad is located is a nice departure from traditional touchpads that are recessed. The smoothness of the palm rest and touchpad as one surface is nice although it does take some getting used to. The bluetooth connection work well with several earbuds that I have on hand. Each one paired easily and worked as they should. Another thing that I noticed while running the laptop through its paces was the lack of battery life. For a full days work the battery is less than ideal. I was able to get about 5-6 hours before it need to be recharged. This however was using it at heavy rate of streaming video content over wifi. Not sure if you would get longer life just doing daily tasks of email, word processing, number crunching and other day to day office type tasks. Overall I do like this laptop for its sleekness and weight. The 13.4” screen is not too small. The speed of the processor is good as well. Not the fastest out there but not snail pace slow either. For the price I would have like to have seen 32GB memory and a 1TB SSD. For someone always on the go this is a good choice for most everyday tasks.

You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.

The Dell XPS 13 (Evo Edition) is a compact powerhouse that’s perfect for everyday use and light creative work. Its sharp 13.4” FHD+ display and sleek graphite finish make it as stylish as it is functional. With the Intel Core Ultra 7, 16GB of RAM, and Intel Arc Graphics, it handles multitasking smoothly, though it’s better suited for casual editing than heavy gaming.
