    My New Favorite Notebook

I don’t even know where to start! This is my first XPS and I’m completely blown away. This notebook has a pleasure to use from the first moment I fired it up. From the OLED 4k panel to the invisible mousepad, to the blazing fast 12 core/16 thread Intel I7 1260P. Dell has clearly been paying attention to the competition! The keyboard feel is a bit reminiscent of a different high-end fruit flavored keyboard, flat profile, but with a no-gap key layout and similar low travel distance. It still manages to provide a snappy and satisfying experience. After a day of typing, I’m finding this to be one of the most pleasant ultrabook keyboards I’ve used in a long time. I expected very little of the capacitive touch bar… I was delightfully surprised! It’s functional and easy to use – even though a bit unnecessary from a use perspective. If you’re like me and need to regularly use F keys, keep in mind that there isn’t a function lock key. You’ll have to always hold down the Fn key to access F keys on the capacitive touch bar. I’ve been using ultrabooks exclusively for some time. It would be nice to have at least one USB A port, but I don’t find it’s absence that troubling for a high end thin and light notebook. If you want all the ports under the sun without using a dock look elsewhere. I plan on looking into getting another one for the office to replace an aging Surface Laptop 3. This is an absolute gem – with both style, performance and all the right features.

I travel extensively for work, and thought this laptop would be the perfect travelling machine. It's small, light, ruggedly built, and has a powerful processor with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Definitely a solid performer. And that OLED display...just beautiful, and a touchscreen. Vibrant colors, sharp images, and with so much brightness available that I normally have keep it below 50%. If that's not enough, it sports an aluminum chasis and full width hinge that just scream durability and solid construction. Sounds perfect, right? But then there is the keyboard. And the track pad. The keyboard is beautiful to look at, but all the keys almost touch, and are a non-standard size. I keep pressing two or three at once. I actually have to look at the keys while typing. The track pad has no defined edges. It looks slick, but I run right off the edge at times, and my cursor just stops. I don't know where to put my fingers. Obviously in the center, but where are the limits? The boundaries? It seems I need these. So, this computer isn't going to be my travelling companion, but that doesn't mean it won't be yours. I just urge you to go to the store and put your hands on it. Be sure you like the feel of the keys and can stay on the borderless track pad. If these thigs don't bother you, you'll have an awesome machine that you will love. Pros: -Small -Light -Rugged chasis -Full width hinge -Powerful Processor -Plenty of memory -Large SSD -BEAUTIFUL display -Small power adapter -Touchscreen. Cons: -Keyboard, but try it for yourself -Track pad, again, try it for yourself -Lack of connectivity (only 2 USB-C ports) Bottom line: I absolutely would recommend the Dell - XPS 13 Plus 13.4" Touch-Screen Laptop to a friend, but I'd tell them to see it in person before making their decision.

Very powerful and capable machine Beautiful Oled screen A design that’s sleek and pushing the boundaries of what a laptop should be That’s the good… The bad is how hot it gets, how loud the fans are, and how short the battery life is.

Where to begin. I got this laptop in May of 2023 and have been working with since. It is currently mid-January 2024. Lets start with the pros. To be honest with you, the pros of this laptop are mostly aesthetic. The keyboard is very nice to use, the backlight works great, and the trackpad (when it works) is my favorite trackpad I've ever used. Maybe I'm just bad with laptops, but there have been non-stop issues with this thing since I got it. Yes, I took it to Geek Squad and they checked it out and sent it in and when I got it back they said everything was fine. Yet the issues have persisted and I have had it up to my head. The trackpad will sometimes just cut out and stop working completely. Why? I have no idea. I have babied this thing. It is nearly in perfect condition. No spills on it, nothing. But the trackpad will sometimes just not work and I have to restart the computer two or three times and pray to get it work. The plugs will sometimes just not work. Why? I have absolutely no idea. I try to get it to connect to my MIDI keyboard again. It was working perfectly earlier. But when I try it this time? It won't even acknowledge that the stupid thing is plugged in. 'Could it be an issue with the keyboard or the plug?' you might be wondering. Nope. I know this because in desperation I plugged it into my Ipad and it worked perfectly. I have a mic that I thought was just broken because I couldn't for the life of me get it to record me singing unless I was singing low. And guess what? Plugged it into the ipad, no issue whatsoever. Worked perfectly. It refuses to let me transfer over video and pictures, and I have spent countless hours trying to get this thing to cooperate with me. It slags and it sometimes just stops working and I am at my wits end. I have watched every youtube tutorial, read and reread the Dell support manual, restarted, reset, and done everything I can to get this computer to work with me but alas it will not. I got this to be a help to me in my work, not a hindrance. My only hope is that I can get a decent trade in for a Mac since this is still under warranty so I didn't waste a thousand dollars.

      Hi KelaylaZ,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We are truly sorry for the issues you are experiencing with your XPS 13 Plus. It's important for us to hear about inconsistencies in our products for consideration of future development. Below I have provided steps with the full article that can help you with touchpad issues and two articles that can help you with keyboard and slow performance issues.

Here's the steps to help resolve your touchpad issue:
      1. Ensure the touchpad and your finger do not have any dirt, grease, liquids, or food on them (the touchpad has to make good contact with your finger to work correctly).
      2. Ensure that the touchpad is turned on.
      3. Save any data, close any open programs and restart the computer by using a wired USB mouse (if available) or Bluetooth mouse if it is already installed, if not, press hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to turn the computer off.
      4. Unplug everything except the power cable.
      5. Turn the computer back on and retest the touchpad.
      6. When the cursor does work correctly, attach one device at a time, and test the cursor movement to see which one may have caused the issue.
      7. Ensure that the BIOS and Chipset drivers are updated to the latest version.

Great laptop and specifications. The battery life is average but workable. The touchscreen with OLED is fantastic. Would not have purchased without the $750 discount from Best Buy Memorial Day sale. Shipping from Best Buy was a hassle this time for some reason - had to contact them 2x to get the product shipped to me over a week of frustration.

At first look, this laptop looks very sleek and modern. The screen is amazing, but it ends there. The laptop gets very hot and loud while doing basic tasks. It wouldn't connect to my Jabra wireless headphones. Additionally, the slots for plug ins are very limited and there is no headphone jack. It only gets about 4-5 hours of battery life brand new. I returned it and got a macbook air instead. I have officially switched from Windows OS to Apple OS because Windows laptop can't compete.

This is my 2nd XPS 13. I really like the build quality. I looked at different set ups, 2-1, detachable , etc., but in the end for my needs this clam shell works best. It can run hot and drain the battery, but what do you expect running that magnificent screen on full brightness and function. ( you can tone it down with settings if ya want)

    Throttling!

I exchanged the original Dell XPS Plus for a replacement due to heavy throttling causing video to stutter & Windows 11 slowing down to a crawl on even lite tasks like watching a 1080p YouTube video. The replacement seemed a lot better at first since it ran much cooler while setting up & updating drivers than the original, I received, but on the replacement watching YouTube & multitasking (in this case downloading a file in another browser tab) it still is throttling just not as bad as the 1st one. Note: This is an unofficial solution I found in Reddit support while investigating the issue online someone suggested to disable the Turbo feature on CPU as a workaround. This actually seems to work so far but cannot guarantee it will work for all & only see this as a temporary solution since the majority of folks will not attempt this & they should not be expected to. Ratings with 5 being the highest Quality Control: 2 out 5 Received 2nd replacement with same throttling Display: 5 out of 5 Just has incredible contrast & accurate colors on the OLED display Keyboard: 5 out of 5 Key layout is normal with very wide keys, Key travel is decent Trackpad 4 out 5 The premium glass trackpad is precise but experienced issue with dragging stuff Speakers: 5 out 5 Sound gets surprising loud on such this laptop Performance: Single Task 5 out of 5, multitasking 3 out of 5 When its working it’s excellent Build Quality: 5 out of 5 Has little flex on body with well-built materials Battery Life 4 out of 5 Getting over 7 hours with display brightness set to 80% & all power settings on default Minor negative: Keyboard is hard to see in a brightly lighted room with blacklight on Temporary fix for throttling issue: control panel: hardware & sound -> power options -> change plan settings -> change advanced power settings -> processor power management -> maximum processor state: 99%. At its current state I cannot recommend the Dell XPS Plus 13 until the throttling is addressed. This is a such a shame because was loving this laptop before encountering throttling on both units & would have rated it 5 stars, without that issue it’s almost perfect.

      Dear Mrbell1970,

Thank you very much for your valued feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not 100% satisfied with your Dell XPS 9320 because of the issue with throttling.

To help with this issue, we would recommend making sure the BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page so you can check for and do any applicable updates. Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX.

Price tag, excellent, speakers = good, performance= great. Now my concern is that under mid tier level performance, I find it to be heating up. Really like the laptop and highly recommend. Super fast, screen is super clear and super bright. Keyboard feels really good and mousepad is also super easy to use and feels great as well even though you can't see it. The only two downsides is that there are only two usb-c ports and the battery life isn't the best out there but good enough. Highly recommend for somebody looking for an overall solid laptop.
