The Dell XPS 13 Plus is a slick looking and fast laptop! Design There's a lot to talk about with the design so I'll talk about ports and input separately. In general, the XPS 13 Plus is small light, and minimal but also is loaded with some excellent features. Powered by an i7-1260p it has plenty of power when needed and great battery life when it's not needing to run at full power. The integrated Iris Xe graphics work great for general use. The 16GB of RAM is plenty for most tasks and the fast 500GB SSD give plenty of storage space. The OLED display looks really, really, good! I'll talk more about that later. This is a laptop that does just makes me sit back and look at it. Whether it's the apparent lack of function keys at first or the fact that there are not visible boundaries for the touchpad, the design caught my attention! As it turns out, even things that I thought were a bad idea are growing on me. Also, this has a touch screen! Though it's not a 2-in-1, it's still very helpful to have a touch screen. I find it most useful when looking at photos and zooming or navigating on maps. By default it automatically turns on when you open it. I don't like that but was able to easily turn it off in the BIOS. Ports Dell did go very minimal with the ports. There are only two USB Type C ports. The good news is they are Thunderbolt 4 ports so they support up to 40Gbps transfer rates. They can also be used as Display Port connections for monitors. If you need to plug in the laptop to charge though, you'll need to use one of those two. Dell does give you a USB Type C to USB Type A adapter so you can easily connect a standard flash drive or other USB Type A devices if needed. There is also an included USB Type C adapter that gives you a standard 1/8" stereo output jack. So, while ports are limited, Dell gives what's needed to make it workable. Keyboard and Touchpad When I first opened the XPS 13 Plus two things caught my attention, no function keys and no framed out touchpad. As I started to use it I realized that, sure enough, there is a touchpad, it's a good size, and it works great, just as you would expect. It's just not framed out in any visible way. You can go ahead and use it as you would expect and it's there, where your fingers would try to use it. I haven't had any issues where I wished it had the borders on the sides. The Function keys were replaced with a touch pad. It's not a display, but a flat touch strip above the keyboard with icons that light up depending on how you have it set. So if it's set to have the function keys active all the time, then you will see the standard function keys. If you set it for the media functions to be active, you will see those. Whenever you push the <Fn> key you will see the other set of keys lit up instead as long as you hold <Fn> down. You can push <Fn>-<Esc> to switch which set of keys is set as active. I like this because I often feel like I get the wrong function because on normal keyboards I can't tell how they're set by looking and they're often set different ways on different computers. This eliminates any question of what's going to happen when I press a function key! The keyboard itself has large faced flat keys. Typing on it is fine. I don't feel like I love the keyboard yet but I also don't dislike it. The power button is also a fingerprint scanner. It's an unmarked rectangle, physical button, at the top right corner of the keyboard. Display The display on the XPS 13 Plus has a very nice looking 13.4" OLED display. It's also high resolution at 3456 x 2160 so images on the screen are very smooth looking! It's a touch screen too, as mentioned before. The display is very bright too! Being OLED it naturally has a very high contrast ratio and supports HDR in Windows 11. Keep in mind that OLED displays burn in much more easily then LCD but LCD doesn't give you the contrast ratio that OLED will. Basically, the colors on the screen are very vibrant and rich and you can really see differences in dark shades of images or video. Details are visible that are not otherwise in certain situations. With HDR enabled (uses more battery power) and HDR content you'll get the best results. Anyway, the screen is excellent! Performance The XPS 13 Plus is very fast. Startup, shutdown, installing updates, launching applications, everything is running very well on this laptop. Really, it has a fast processor, plenty of RAM, and fast storage so there isn't much to slow it down. It doesn't have discrete graphics processor but the Iris Xe does a great job and keeps battery life under control! Battery Life The battery life has been great. I just keep using it and charge it here and there as needed but the battery life seems very good. Keep in mind, with on OLED display displaying lighter images (like a white screen) will use more power and displaying darker images (like a black screen) will use less power - It's not just the brightness level that matters but the colors being displayed. Dell gives you flexibility in the power controls to set limits for how much you want it to charge or how fast to charge in order to make the battery cells last longer or give you a faster charge for instance. Also, as noted above, if you enable the HDR mode it will use more battery power. Really, the display looks incredible without it but you'll need it to see HDR content, like some movies, look their best.

      Hi MarkW,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for the battery performance issues you are experiencing with your Dell XPS13 plus Laptop. It's important for us to hear about inconsistencies in our products for consideration of future development. Below I have provided steps with the full articles that can help you improve the battery performance of your laptop.

Here are the steps to help improve the battery performance of your laptop:
      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further the Battery Saver feature.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is very capable of helping you to accomplish the tasks of a power user without the size of a power user's computer. [THE PROS] Beautiful Minimalist Design: The laptop is very sleek at every angle. From the invisible mousepad to the smooth keyboard (with fingerprint reader) to the overall dimensions, this computer has been thoughtfully designed. OLED Display is Unmatched: The XPS 13 Plus has a gorgeous screen. I love watching videos, writing code, and photo editing on this device. In general, OLED displays are top tier, and this was implemented well with 3.5K resolution. Extremely Powerful: This computer has horsepower. With combination of 16GB of RAM, a SSD, and the latest i7 processor, I'm able to accomplish all of the the same tasks that I would perform on my desktop computer (except for gaming and heavy video editing). Furthermore, I can run multiple, high demanding programs without any slowdown. Battery Life: Battery life has performed decent, but I have also been able to rapidly charge my device so that remedies any deficiency that I might experience with the battery. [THE CONS] Almost requires an additional purchase: To get the absolute most out of this laptop, you might need to invest a USB C hub. The XPS 13 Plus only leaves one available port when charging the laptop. Unless you can wirelessly perform all necessary tasks, you won't be able to use external hard drives, read SD cards, plug into a monitor, and etc. without the assistance of a device (or unique cable/adapter in some instances). For the record, a USB C to USB A adapter is included. Slight screen downgrade from previous generation: As an owner of the previous XPS product, I did notice that the resolution takes a small hit from being 4K+ to being 3.5K. The average user wouldn't notice much of a visual change so this is only a small concern. Furthermore, this features an OLED is better than the previous model. [THE CONCLUSION] The Dell XPS 13 is a compact package that doesn't compromise on speed and performance. It allows you to do much without taking up much space. My overall concerns for this product are minor compared to the enormous benefits I get out of using it. Whether it's school, the coffee shop, airport, or couch, this laptop is great for all scenarios.

So far, so good. I use dual-monitors and run Creative Cloud on this computer and have been satisfied (meets expectations) thus far. It's a beautiful device and is pretty snappy on responsiveness. The touchscreen is nice too, however I rarely use it with my set up. As a warning: There have been moments where InDesign (Adobe software) would lock up and I would have to force shut down the application - I'm guessing this is a RAM issue. Additionally, there has been times where one of my dual-monitor screens has frozen - unsure if this is the PC, or, the hub so I can't assign fault. Overall, a good PC for an above-average user. Would I buy it again for the price - I can't say yes for certain.

Out of the box, this machine has a very professional sleek look to it and has the latest WinOS version, 11, and is very light. There seems to be continuous updates to the OS. Dell has followed suit with everyone else in limiting the number of avail ports to the current standard USB-C. The keyboard is low profile and smooth to type with, works for folks that do not have larger hands. The webcam, though rarely used for most these days not in a business setting could be better as the quality of video is not as clear as expected. I have noticed some glitching with the graphics and will continue to see if there’s an update to fix the issue as I’ve seen this in another product before fixed through a firmware update. When this is not doing this, the screen is amazing and very clear. Battery life is very extensive when doing just daily activities and watching online services. It does get fairly warm at times, especially during heavy use. Keep in mind, DELL does have various performance settings that can be adjusted based on system use and this will have effect the battery life. Fan noise is variable and is expected with the size of the machine pushing a processor of this size to the limits at times while trying to stay cool. Overall, this machine is really enjoyable to use and I’m finding myself reaching for this more so than expected for daily office use over my other machine.
