Customers commend the XPS 13 Plus for its excellent keyboard, stunning OLED display, and lightweight design. Many appreciate the ample RAM and fast performance. However, some users point to the battery life and limited port selection as shortcomings, along with occasional heat and fan noise.

I've always preferred Windows based machines to those of the fruit variety. Credit where it's due, those other machines tend to have very nice build quality and form factor but that's generally where the appeal stops for me. With each iteration of the XPS line Dell has closed the gap of aesthetics and in some very noticeable ways surpassed the competition.
The OLED screen on the 13 Plus is simply gorgeous and surprisingly bright compared to my other OLED laptops. It has yet to leave me wanting for more brightness in my daily usage. This is definitely an area where Dell outshines the competition. In my opinion, a color accurate screen (100% DCI-P3 in this case) that is pleasurable to look at is a must for a laptop as that's what you're going to spend all your time looking at.
Other important considerations, that the XPS nails, are the keyboard and trackpad. Both of these items are a pleasure to use offering great feel and functionality. I'm a fan of the borderless design of the trackpad with it's sleek look. I never find myself missing the input area despite the lack of visual cues. The slight dish to the keys make typing very comfortable and I have no noticeable decrease in speed or accuracy. My only complaint is a minor one and has to do with the brightness of the backlighting. On the brightest setting it's not quite bright enough and it actually makes the keys harder to read if there is a decent amount of ambient light. This is only a minor quibble as with the backlight off the keys are very easy to read, it's just that I'm a fan of leaving the backlight on preferring the white lettering. I suspect that the limited space left due to the fantastic switches and overall slimness of the chassis led to this compromise of available brightness. The touchbar section that alternates between function and media keys at the top of the keyboard does not suffer from this issue and is plenty bright, I also like the way the lights toggle based on the keys function.
CPU performance is top notch when allowing the laptop to run at full throttle. The 14 core i7 is probably overkill for my general work and occasional photo processing needs but it's nice having the horsepower on tap for the odd video export or experimenting with 3D modeling software for prints. Just for grins I even tried to play Destiny 2 on the internal Xe graphics and I was surprised it actually ran it. For casual strike or event farming it was playable at 720p all low settings with a few dips under 30 fps in crowded or visually intense areas. Again, not really ideal or something I would use for gaming regularly but I was certainly surprised it ran it all.
I've had no complaints about battery life though I regularly plug all my devices in. The longest stint I've gone unplugged was about 4 hours and still had 40% battery left. I do appreciate the compactness of the included charger however I normally just carry around my 65W GaN phone charger and use that for both devices.
The IO could be considered another somewhat weak spot for the XPS as it only has 2 USB-C ports. I personally do not have an issue with this as both ports are Thunderbolt 4 supporting Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 and I've already submitted to the dongle life or one cable docking at home.
One thing to keep in mind when choosing your XPS specs is that the RAM is soldered on and not upgradable. Be sure to pick the amount you need at purchase. The SSD is upgradable on the other hand and uses a 2280 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe.
If you are in the market for a premium, extremely portable, CPU workhorse of a laptop you will not be disappointed with the Dell XPS 13 Plus.

Dear Ibuytings,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your XPS 13. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your battery life and your device overheating. That is not the type of feedback we like to hear from our customers. We have noted the details of your statement and will use them to help improve our current and future products. I have provided troubleshooting steps below to help resolve the issue with the performance of your battery and a link for helping resolve your overheating issue.
Here are the steps to help improve the battery performance of your laptop: 1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon. 2. On the options list, click Power Options. 3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver. b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results. Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs. c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off. d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage. f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further the Battery Saver feature.

Just returned a 3-day old XPS Plus laptop. The left side of the trackpad began making a noisy click. Within a couple hours of use, the trackpad kept on clicking on its own and even a restart wouldn't make it go away. It continued to happen through a factory reset! I literally shut the lid on a factory reset machine that was clicking away merrily as I packaged it to take back to Best Buy. Such a disappointing experience.
And by the way, check out conversations on the Dell Community, this seems to be a recurring issue with the XPS Plus line. Dell QC, RIP.

I don’t even know where to start! This is my first XPS and I’m completely blown away. As a long time Razer, Mac and Microsoft laptop owner I’ve never been convinced to buy from the XPS line. This notebook has a pleasure to use from the first moment I fired it up. From the OLED 4k panel to the invisible mousepad, to the blazing fast 12 core/16 thread Intel I7 1260P.
Dell has clearly been paying attention to the competition! The keyboard feel is a bit reminiscent of a different high-end fruit flavored keyboard, flat profile, but with a no-gap key layout and similar low travel distance. It still manages to provide a snappy and satisfying experience. After a day of typing, I’m finding this to be one of the most pleasant ultrabook keyboards I’ve used in a long time.
I expected very little of the capacitive touch bar… I was delightfully surprised! It’s functional and easy to use – even though a bit unnecessary from a use perspective. If you’re like me and need to regularly use F keys, keep in mind that there isn’t a function lock key. You’ll have to always hold down the Fn key to access F keys on the capacitive touch bar.
I’ve been using ultrabooks exclusively for some time. It would be nice to have at least one USB A port, but I don’t find it’s absence that troubling for a high end thin and light notebook. If you want all the ports under the sun without using a dock look elsewhere.
I plan on looking into getting another one for the office to replace an aging Surface Laptop 3. This is an absolute gem – with both style, performance and all the right features. There are so many other great features that I could try and cover but you should probably just check one out in person.

Sleek style, keyboard is comfortable, battery life will get you thru the day if your a lite to medium user! Face ID has good range, great brightness, on the keyboard too. This laptop covers all your basic needs for the home. Good for preteens too! The camera is good for the purpose of Face ID. Zooming was ok, just be sure to be in a bright room.
I love the color, and blends in good with your entertainment system. I enjoy watching YouTube, no gaming but the colors do pop on this laptop. The OLED is beautiful and I’m not too concerned for burn-in problems but I wouldn’t game on this laptop for hours due to the brightness but again, the OLED is beautiful and my eyes don’t strain!
Boot up time is quick and it’s very light weight. Took it to the library and it connected with their wifi with no problems. Also with the keyboard, you have the Touch Bar. There is no tactical feedback but I like it. It’s different from not having the Esc key but you will get use to it. Overall, Dell did a great job with design and style. Enough speed and power for a regular day!

Let me start by saying the “my Dell” feature is a refreshing part of this new laptop. The touch screen is also very convenient to use and very responsive. I do type with force, and I do feel the keys bottoming out. However, it is a very smooth keyboard and I expect that I will adjust. The track pad is exceptional and very easy to use. The display on the laptop is very good. I do not have to squint to see anything on the screen. This is due to its high brightness, excellent pixel density, aspect ratio. The laptop is very quick, and it performs well in running multiple tasks. I am happy to report that the laptop has virtually no fan noise. The laptop does get warm on the underside after extended use, but it is manageable. The laptop took approximately 1 hour to fully charge the battery. With normal use, I was able to get 4 hours of use before needing a charge. This has been more than sufficient for my needs. Overall, Dell has done a great job and I am very happy with the laptop and I would recommend it.

Light, but gets hot on lap

The laptop is an amazing product given it's size and lack of ports. Light and portable, the laptop comes equipped with a touchscreen that is super responsive, really gives it a modern feel that you would get from a tablet. The processor is fast and download/upload speeds are tolerable to the impatient user. One of the few issues I have is that the laptop gets a little warm and uncomfortable on my lap to where I have to put it on a desk or table. It's common for electronics to get hot over time due to constant use, but it would happen after 15 minutes.
Also a minor inconvenience is the lack of ports. There are charge ports on either side, which is cool, but there are no USB ports. That creates a problem for those who want to store physical data on the laptop instead of on the cloud or flash drive. It seems like the built in memory is solely just for running apps or small programs like Microsoft Office. This laptop is for busy on the go college students who need to finish writing there paper or send a quick email. This not a gaming laptop

Hello 2leo2,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad you like some of the features of your new Dell XPS 9320 laptop but we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing overheating with this platform.
To help with overheating issue, we would recommend making sure the BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page so you can check for and do any applicable updates. Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX.
If the issue with your computer is still not resolved after utilizing the troubleshooting options above, please contact the Dell Support Team at 1-800-624-9896 for further guidance.

I just received this computer and I have been playing with it for a couple of weeks now. I was looking for a laptop that was relatively small, lightweight, and easy to carry...This is the one! It is a great smaller size, easy to lift, won't make a dent in your shoulder when carrying in a shoulder bag. I am pleased. It was easy to start by lifting the lid and I followed the directions. Typing on the key board was a bit tough, since the letters were illuminated and white against a silver key. I do not know if I have control of the illumination, but it would be better to have some contrast between the keys and the letters. When I was done for the day, I plugged it in and left it to charge overnight, stupid me, I plugged the charge cord in the wrong slot...would have been nice to actually label them. In the next few days, I tried to uninstall the virus software that came with the computer and install my own, and that was challenging. It seems that the computer always got hung up trying to uninstall the software. I wanted to do a restart a few times and in the new windows 11, I had to search online how to do it. I guess there is always a learning curve to new software.. I finally gave up on removing the software, and bypassed it while installing my own. Once mine was installed, it was easier to remove the software I did not want. It was fast and easy to get to the internet and browse, check email, etc. Besides the new windows software that I have to learn to use, I think the computer is pretty sweet! I hope it lasts like my old dells did!

Overall had extremely high hopes for the laptop. Was great for about a week and then the trackpad decided to stop working and it would continously click without stopping. Exchanged that for a new model. The second one was perfect for 2 weeks but then the facial recognition sensors decided to stop working. Tried a factory reset and they did not help but actually created the blue screen of death error. If you love to be in contact with Dell support for hours on end this is the computer to get. But i'd recommend looking elsewhere if you can. Even though the laptop is a very pretty looking device.

Hello Jake02,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for all the issues you have come across with your initial and current Dell XPS 9320 computer and that the factory reset you did cause the blue screen of error. We are also very sorry to hear that Dell Support Team was not very effective. This is certainly not what we like to hear from our valued customers.
Below I have provided steps to help troubleshoot and resolve this issue and the full article link which includes more detailed instructions.
1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type ""problem reports"". 2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software. 3. Small, high-quality laptop

This review is specific to the Dell - XPS 13 Plus 13.4" OLED Touch Laptop with the 12th Generation Intel Core i7 Evo Platform processor, 16GB of LPDDR5 5200 MHz dual channel Memory, Intel Iris Xe Graphics, and 512GB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe Solid State Drive.
Despite its small size, this Dell XPS 13 Plus laptop really packs a punch and is an all-around solid unit. It has a very premium look and high-quality feel which is also evidenced by the InfinityEdge display. I really like how the viewing area of the screen is maximized with little wasted space on the edges of the screen.
Speaking of quality, another thing that really stood out to me is the keyboard. Despite being such a small unit as a whole, the keyboard is surprisingly spacious and I really like the size of the keys themselves which are actually slightly larger than typical keys. The power button on the top right side of the keyboard is also a fingerprint reader which is a nice added bonus but the built-in camera can also be setup to automatically sign you in when the system sees and recognizes your face.
When it comes to ports, this laptop only has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, either of which can be used to charge the unit. Having only two Thunderbolt ports is a bit of a downside but these types of ports are very powerful and if needed, there are cheap and useful hubs that can be bought to expand your available ports. I happen to have one with a PD charging port which allows me to still charge the unit through the hub which still leaves the other Thunderbolt 4 port to be used for anything else. It should also be noted that included with the laptop are two adapters: a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 adapter and a USB-C to 3.5mm headset adapter. This was a very thoughtful and nice addition to make up for the lack of additional ports on the laptop itself.
Overall, the Dell XPS 13 Plus laptop is a small but powerful unit and I highly recommend it.

I have had A LOT of laptops in my lifetime from HP, Dell, IBM (yes IBM), Toshiba, MSI and Acer. I have to say I am super impressive with the Dell XPS. Ive been using this laptop for 5 days now and here are my initial thoughts.
Built quality is solid. Picking the XPS up from the corner or the side feels solid. There isn’t a flex or bend it feels like one unit. The texture isn’t a smooth surface but has a sand like texture which feels good. Doesn’t leave much finger points or smudges. The mouse touch pad is very unique. Its one solid piece built into the laptop. However, only a section of the palm rest can move the mouse.
Overall performance is quick and snappy. Able to run the XPS for about 10 hours without charging it. Audio quality is shocking LOUD without distortion for such a thin device. This was a pleasant surprise.
Issues
The touch didn’t work when I started using it the second day. I turned on/off the laptop, looked for touch pad “kill switch” , plugged in a mouse via USB ( mouse worked) but touch pad didn’t, looked into the BIOS etc. Touch screen was still working. Thought it was a defective device. Turned out the drivers needed to be updated and was in the process of updating. So watch out.
Its weird but when the backlight keys are turn on in a mildly lite room you cant see the letters or number on the keyboard. Its all blended together. Not a big problem
The touch bar with the esc, and the F keys take a little getting use too.
I do recommend this laptop for those who are looking for a thin and light laptop with performance. However the price point can be deterring factor .

Great iteration of the awesome XPS 13 series

Overall, this is a great laptop/ultrabook if you're looking for a small form factor that's portable yet powerful enough to accomplish standard tasks. This is not a gaming or heavy photo/video editing machine though. PROS: The battery life is awesome (7+ hours), and the screen to body ratio on this machine is amazing. Wifi 6E compatibility was a nice surprise. CONS: The new keyboard layout with the touch bar and key style does take some getting used to, but I was able to get to near full speed in less than a day. I wish there was more definition on the trackpad boundaries, but like the keyboard, I think I'll get used to that over time as well.
The "Plus" designation to me implies that this device has some added features or functionality compared to the standard XPS lineup. In this case, the "plus" is the new keyboard layout and touchpad, and the slight redesign of the display to squeeze a 13.4" screen into a very svelte body. The touchbar is the biggest change from the standard XPS, but this is definitely not worthy of "Plus" in my opinion. The features and functions of the touchbar row are identical to what would have been regular Fn keys. I'm guessing that by going with a touchbar (vs. standard keys), Dell was able to achive space savings internally. Not a big deal for me, but YMMV.
The display is the usual Dell excellent quality. Sound output, webcam and mics are great considering the size of the chassis and will do great for webinars, zoom calls and the like. There are two thunderbolt USB-C ports, one on each side, and the included 60W charger is small and includes a detachable cable. There is no headphone jack, so bring your bluetooth headset if you're going to use this for meetings at your local coffee shop. Dell does include a USB-C to USB-A adapter, and an USB-C headphone adapter in the box, however, in case of emergency.
The XPS+ comes with Windows 11 Home and the usual suite of Microsoft pre-installed Office and productivity apps and Dell's McAfee crapware. There were quite a few firmware and Windows updates that needed to be installed out of the box, so allow a few hours to get the XPS+ setup and running.
This is a great iteration of the tried-and-true Dell XPS 13, although I'm not 100% convinced that Dell added enough "Plus" to warrant a completely different model and price structure. Perhaps, the XPS+ is an indication of where Dell is going with the entire XPS lineup in the future. As it stands, unless the touchbar and new keyboard are big enough features for you to justify the price premium, I would carefully consider if the "standard" XPS 13 is good enough for your needs.

This will be used by a college student, for office applications, programming, media consumption(not gaming as apparent by the lack of discreet GPU) and for past 10+ days we used it; it is great for that purpose.
It is 13", light weight so can be easily carried, at the same time the build quality is top notch (think macbook air with windows OS).
The model I received has OLED screen, it is very nice though I am not sure if that is such a good idea. OLED are still prone to burn in and latest gen TVs have a lot of tech in them to avoid burn in. A PC setup is different from TV as it typically display static content for a long period of time. We will see how it holds up but an IPS screen would have been equally great.
The screen is touch but it is not a 2in1 laptop which can convert to a tablet or can be used easily to take notes using Microsoft ink. The option to give touch screen but not let the screen fold is beyond me.
With 16 GB of RAM & with Intel i7 (big little configuration like arm processors are known to have), this laptop is very fast, it is faster than my Alienware R15 for usual tasks like launching applications like browser. I have been using it mainly for browsing and some python coding and it is working great with multiple application opened at the same time.
500 GB SSD is minimum I will recommend but you can DIY it to 1 TB by following the Dell manual. RAM though are part of chip so you are stuck with whatever version you buy.
I really miss the escape button as I am use it plenty, my son though didn't miss it at all. The soft keys works fine to the touch and are equally responsive (you can always add a keyboard if you are not a fan).
Another small nit I have is lack of ports, I understand it is done to keep it low profile but if you are charging it while using, you only have one port available. You can buy a USB C dock (both the ports are thunderbolt). I tried with one I have to connect it to the monitor and it worked flawlessly.
It does run slightly hot but most of the i7 laptop I have checked (6 to 8) all ran hotter. Use it on a table.
To summarize, it is lightweight with very nice screen and great build quality. The screen though respond to touch it does not fold. It is a workhorse though as good as much bigger sized one but because of the CPU runs hot.

I got this XPS 13 Plus for my wife. The Dell laptop we generally use is quite heavy and although it is powerful, for what she wanted, she was leaning towards a tablet. However, once she got this one, she was hooked and said it is much better than a tablet!
Unboxing was fun as my wife said she’d never got to unbox a new computer before, having had hand-me-downs from her dad for years or just using what I had on hand. As this one was almost exclusively going to be used by her, she took the honors. The laptop came well packed, with power supply, power cord, 60 Watt AC power adapter and a useful USB-C to USB-A v3.0 adapter. The power connection on the laptop is Thunderbolt 4
The documentation was sparse but included a QR code to the MyDell Mobile companion app which is helpful for first-time setup and getting the most out of the new laptop.
On starting up the XPS 13 Plus, I was easily able to set up Windows Hello for my profile, using the onboard camera to authenticate logins. Once I was done setting up a profile, I added my wife and then when she logged in with her Microsoft account, it let her set up her Windows Hello so that now if it is locked and one of us picks up the computer, it will scan our faces and then knows which profile to load. It’s a great feature and also a very secure way to protect a computer.
The laptop connected to our Wi-Fi 6 home network easily and was getting good connection speeds around the house. A speed test showed it was uploading and downloading close to the maximum available for the connection we pay for.
The OLED screen is very nice indeed! It is the first OLED screen we have had in the house but definitely hints at us going that way in the future. Although the 13.4” screen sounds small, it is not noticeably small and the definition of images on the screen was very sharp. We put some streaming services on the laptop and enjoyed the gorgeous 4K HDR images of various shows – it was really impressive and a great advertisement for OLED. It is a touch-screen which at times can be very useful although I always feel I need to wipe the screen down right after I touch it, taking away a bit of the novelty.
The screen has an anti-reflective finish which supposedly reduces eyestrain and widens the field of view. I can’t say either way if I notice that but the image does look good from the angles we view it together and is not harsh on the eyes.
The Thunderbolt ports on each side can draw power from the included AC adapter or provide power or video to attached devices. It definitely cuts down on the clutter of interfaces laptops have had over the years and probably keeps the laptop size and weight down too.
The Intel Iris Xe graphics are more than adequate for this type of laptop. Dell describe it as able to provide everyday image quality for Internet use, basic photo editing and casual gaming. It is also optimized to draw less power than it otherwise might. It may be a trade-off for real power users but for the rest of us, this is still a more than adequate laptop with great graphics response and images.
The 16GB RAM is what I would expect for any laptop running Windows 10 or 11 in this case. The XPS 13 Plus uses LPDDR5 RAM and so far, we have not seemed to tax it with our multiple browser tabs and video streaming.
The storage is a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe solid state drive which runs fast and with no moving parts, should last a while and not generate much heat. I like the fast boot up times of SSDs and this one is no exception. 512GB is about the minimum I would want on a laptop but for my wife, she could probably manage with a 256 if she had to. As this one is 512, it is more generous that we were expecting but still very welcome.
The 12th Gen. Intel Evo i7 processor does a great job and again, I am not sure we will ever tax it to its limit. Most users just want a system that will keep up with them and this one should stay ahead of our multi-taking usage for some time.
Saving the best 'til last, this laptop is so light and portable and I feel that is what makes it so popular in our household. My wife likes to pack it around and play her favorite shows in whatever room she is working in but also enjoys having it in her lap in the evenings, for casual browsing and online shopping. She is excited to take it on vacation later this year and is not worried about it being too heavy or cumbersome to pack around an airport.
It provides tablet convenience but with bonuses of a real, lit keyboard and the same operating system as she is used to at work and home. She would have been happy with a tablet but tells me the laptop is far better and an amazing upgrade after her last tablet died.
We both recommend this laptop as it provides a great blend of power and a very nice screen, especially for streaming and browsing.
