Customers are saying
Customers find value in the XPS 13" Touch-Screen Laptop's display, keyboard, design, battery life, and performance. They appreciate the crisp colors and screen resolution, the backlit keyboard with soft-touch keys, the sleek design and perfect size, the long battery life, and the super performance and superior build quality. However, some customers would prefer at least one older-style USB port and the fact that the RAM is on-board and cannot be replaced or upgraded is seen as a drawback.

Fast, light, compact, beautiful, and powerful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I notice when looking at the laptop is just how awesome of piece of hardware it is. It is sleek, solid, and you can tell a lot of though went into its design. But of course more than that it is powerful and fast. I thought my last laptop was quick and responsive with its SSD, but this is on another level. Boots almost instantly. Set up was easy with Windows 10 and Cortana as usual. The touch screen is responsive and looks amazing. The resolution is higher than my last one and you can tell. And despite the slightly smaller screen everything is easy to see. Pictures, video, webpages, etc. all look sharp. Sound is great as well with the Waves Maxxaudio. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality from the build in speakers. Very crisp and clean sound. I would normally add a soundbar or other external speaker, but might not need to in this case. Sounds great. The backlit keyboard has a perfect tactile feel and is very easy to type quickly on. I sometimes get cramps typing for longer periods of time, but this was no issue here. Like I said it is SUPER fast. The Intel i7 and 8gb or Ram allows for opening as many browser tabs, and programs as you want with no lag or slowdowns at all. And the 512GB SSD loads Windows 10 at light speeds, and is the perfect amount of storage for a laptop for me. One thing I appreciate is the lack of bloatware. With several other brands they overload you with apps and programs they want you to use. And I prefer to keep it as bare and minimal as possible. Thankfully it did not have all the bloat. Overall this is the perfect compact laptop. Elegantly designed, powerful and fast, great touch-screen with beautiful graphics, crisp sound, low on the bloatware, with all the features I need from a laptop. Its easily the best looking, lightest, and fastest laptop Ive had. If you are looking for a well made, compact, all powerful laptop with an SSD with plenty of space this should definitely be on the top of your list.

Gorgeous design and great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is, quite simply, a beautiful laptop. Dell puts the ultra into ultra-portable. Smaller than my HP Spectre 360 (personal) and my MacBook Air (work), the dimensions are truly remarkable. Still, within this form factor, Dell has managed to fit an excellent, full-sized keyboard, a 13” screen, and reasonable speakers. Best of all, the dreaded nasal cam (look it up) has been replaced with a decent camera positioned above the screen. The aluminum case looks and feels exceptional, and carries what appears to be Dell’s usual high-quality build. The screen is wonderful, with outstanding color and crisp images, in what is effectively a bezel-free design. Battery life is outstanding, although slightly behind that of my HP. Still, 12+ hours is enough for most any road warrior. With my HP and MacBook, I’ve gotten into the habit of leaving the charging cables at home for a 1-2 day trip, and I expect to be able to do the same when I can travel with the Dell. With its two USB-C ports staggered set one to a side, the XPS allows you to connect cables on either side, eliminating running cable across your desk. On the other hand, this arrangement also means that you cannot cluster your cables on a single side, so you’re guaranteed to have connections on both sides. Still I prefer the Dell design. I'll leave the specifics of the seed to the experts, but suffice it to say this is outstanding. Overall performance is superb, and this machine can multi-task with the best of them. There are a couple of downsides. The XPS does not do double duty as a tablet. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just nice to have the flexibility (pun intended). The Dell also has no legacy USB ports, so you’ll need an adapter or two. If you’re looking for an ultra-portable laptop with exceptional build quality, a great keyboard, and a great display, you definitely need to consider the XPS.

Sleek and responsive laptop for everyday use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm in love this this laptop. It's the perfect portable size while still being fast and having a decent memory for work and home use. I was looking for something sleek and not too bulky, this is slightly heavier than I expected but otherwise it's great. The feel on the carbon is so smooth and soft, great addition. The screen is crystal clear for all the video calls lately and the upgraded audio is nice. It took maybe 5 mins to set this up and be ready to go, it was super easy to log in to my cloud account and have everything I needed. I was pleasantly surprised to see it had office products loaded and a full security system. And the startup is fast, seconds from hitting the power button and you're ready to go again. So far the battery life has done well and the power cord is small enough that it's easy to throw in my bag and have on me if needed. It multi tasks well since I've been using for a variety of things, my toddler says the screen is perfect for a Netflix movie as well. The one thing I wasn't a fan of was no USB ports but I get that those are hard to include with such a small form factor. I ordered one of those thunderbolt USB plug ins so I can add a wireless mouse in the future. This is great for anyone looking for something sleek like the other main operating system but wanting to stay with windows. I've had several compliments on it and look forward to getting tons of use out of this.

Lightweight and fast
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It surprised me at first to see how small is was compared to the outer box. But after using it, it's obvious it hasn't missed anything due to the size. This is slim, lightweight, looks great, love the keyboard. I almost want to say it looks like a luxury laptop. The processor is fast and handled well all I needed from it. The voice and speaker is nice and clear. I've had several zoom mtgs with this and no issues. We've used it for games, videos, streaming, work,, school, every thing works very well with no concerns. The touchscreen responds well with no delays. The battery life is good, we can use it the whole day without needing to charge it in the middle of using. I really like the backlite keyboard too. You can choose how to sign in, fingerprint, face or code. One thing that surprised me is it doesn't have regular USB but but does include usb-c to usb adapter, so I've had no issues. I would definitely recommend as it meets all our needs and has worked well and everything works fast. Even setting it up was quick, but the fisrt time updates did take a little while because there were many.

An Amazing little laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: My first impression of the 13” Dell XPS laptop is that it is very well made. It is thin, lightweight, and feels solid. The display hinges are solid and hold the screen where you want it. The two rubber feet on the bottom, which run the width of the laptop, hold the laptop firmly in place. I don’t think I’ve ever described laptop feet this way, but I really like how Dell did it with this laptop. It is small and light, yet I can adjust the display angle without the laptop sliding across the table. Quality. The XPS laptop has an aluminum outer shell with a plastic interior. This feels stronger than an all-plastic laptop, but not as strong as an all-aluminum shell. Even so, everything fits together well, and nothing I have found feels like the plastic interior will pose a problem. I like the keyboard on this laptop. The keys are larger than many that I have seen on 13” laptops. They are spaced out well, and the rebound is a little softer than some, but still provides a solid feel. If you are a 2-finger typist (like me), you will probably like this keyboard. The keyboard is also backlit with a white lite. It toggles on when the keyboard and/or touchpad are used and toggles off shortly after. The backlight is good brightness and allows seeing the keys in total darkness without blinding. The touchpad is much better than most. I’m not a fan of touchpads only because most of them are not easy to use. They are either too stiff or too loose and make using them more difficult than their worth. The touchpad on this laptop is sensitive without being overly sensitive, and the left/right click is stiff enough to not be accidentally clicked without being so stiff that it’s difficult to use (which is what I typically find). I don’t need to have a mouse with this laptop because the touchpad is very much useable. Performance: This laptop is fast. The i7 processor does its job and does it well. I was concerned that only having 8 GB of RAM would impact the performance, but so far it hasn’t. To test this, I did video editing and 3D drafting on this laptop and it did great in both tests. I even copied 400 GB across WiFi to my NAS drive while streaming Netflix and I didn’t experience any buffering. That being said, I am looking to see if I can update it to 32 GB because I feel like once Windows settles in and I load the laptop up, 8 GB might start choking. The screen is very bright with good color. While watching movies, editing videos, and drafting, the display looked really nice. What I really like is the touchscreen. Like the touchpad, not all touchscreens are created equal. The touchscreen on this laptop is sensitive enough to use without error without being too sensitive or not sensitive enough. It’s one of the better touchscreens I have used on a laptop, and better than some tablets. The facial recognition on this laptop is superb. The flashing red lights actually help with the accuracy, as facial recognition is dependent on the correct light for consistency. The laptop tells you if you are too close or too far away. Other devices I use just fail if you aren’t at the right distance from the camera. The battery life is better than average. I took it to a few business lunch meetings and it never dropped below 10% with a full day’s use. I cannot say that for my main business laptop. Charging time is actually really good using the supplied charger. The camera is nothing to write home about. It is only a 720p, which I find seriously lacking in a laptop like this one. That being said, it’s not a deal-breaker for me. I only use my laptop cameras for Facetime or Zoom meetings. If this were a tablet, it would be a different story. The laptop only has 2 USB C ports. Nowadays, that’s not a lot. With one of them being used for power, that only leaves one for accessories or external storage. For serious business use, you might need a USB hub or docking adapter. The addition of a MicroSD slot is very nice. I have radios, cameras, drones, controllers, and other devices that all use MicroSD cards. Having the slot without me needing an SD card adapter is really nice. Conclusion: I am a Dell fan. As an IT engineer, I like Dell’s business customer support and the ability to have access to the latest drivers and updates specifically cataloged for each device. I can get whatever I need simply just by having the service tag. Upgrades are also usually very easy. The Dell XPS 13” i7 EVO laptop is a very nice laptop. Its lightweight, small size makes it attractive as a business computer. It can easily slide into most backpacks and briefcases unnoticed. The i7 processor means it will stand up to just about any task. The only downside that I can see is having only 8 GB RAM and only 2 USB C ports. I am retiring my other Dell laptop that I use for my LLC for this laptop. It is an outstanding replacement that is easy to carry and use. I highly recommend this laptop.

Great performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming in at around 2.5 pounds this laptop is a beauty. After the initial setup guided by Cortana the laptop downloaded a few Windows updates. What was very surprising was that it also downloaded a BIOS update. I don't know why a new laptop would require a BIOS update, however all is working perfectly after the updates. The laptop now boots up in an incredible 11 seconds and is ready for you login via fingerprint. They keyboard has a great tactile feel and is backlit. The touchpad, which I normally do not like, does not lag your movement and has very smooth accurate trace. I find it better than any other laptop I have used and I plan on using it going forward. You also have the option to use the touchscreen. There is no bloatware you have to remove. You do get a trial for Office and a year of Anti-Virus. Video resolution is set at the recommended 1920x1200 and HDR video is ON by default. The video is clean and sharp and more than adequate for office type work and streaming HD video. Audio is superb and Maxx Audio Pro is included so you can tailor your sound as you wish. The onboard speakers produce a rich sound. Listening to streaming music and movies via my Bose QC headsets produced some of the best sound I have heard in a long time. The only external connections are headphone jack, micro SD card and two of the latest Thunderbolt 4.0 ports. There are basically USB-C type ports that connect the laptop to an optional dock. Docs can provide 4K display ports, connections, standard USB-A ports, SD card readers and Ethernet connections. I have not tested that for this review but its good to know expansion is easily available. You do not need a dock to get started since an adapter cable is included to convert a Thunderbolt 4.0 port to USB A to allow connections to peripherals such as external hard drive or thumb drive. I have used both with no issues. I have used the laptop on Zoom and onboard video and audio reports were favorable. I also connected a Bluetooth headset which quickly and effortlessly connected. You can see from the specs this laptop is a performer and will not become obsolete any time soon. It will be a workhorse and keep up with anything thrown at it no matter how CPU intensive it may be. I see this as a worthwhile investment.

Light weight and durable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the quality of this laptop. Fast and runs smoothly. Quality of graphics while watching movies is pretty good also good video quality while in video calls. It doesn't hold a very long charge at the settings I currently have it at. So I do find myself charging it more than once a day.

User Friendly & Fast!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very impressed with this Dell XPS!! It was easy for me (very non tech savvy 50+ yr old) to set up and get started. I love the fingerprint reader that add a layer of security and ease for signing on. the touchpad is large , smooth and has a quick response time. The keyboard is springy and comfortable. The touch screen is vibrant and appears larger than it's 13 inches. I found the processor to run several applications at once at a fast pace. The design is sleek and elegant yet feels very durable. I like that the speakers are on the sides and not the bottom allowing me to get a more surround sound type feedback. I will have to get use to using the USB adapter that was provided since that is what most of my devices use. Overall I am very impressed with this laptop and can't wait to explore all it has to offer!

Horrible. Don't buy this
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The touch pad sucks, windows is a buggy (for example I after I opened the edge explorer it refused to close), something is wrong with the hardware or graphics or something (laptop screen goes black sometimes when I wake it up from sleep and starts beeping). For a laptop this expensive, horribly disappointed with the product I received.

Posted .Hello Seher,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your Dell XPS 13 laptop because its touchpad is not working and you are seeing only a black screen sometimes.
Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three-finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate, and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main. cpl.
2. Touch or click main. cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02
I have also provided tips to help resolve black screen problem, along with the full article link, which has more options if they are needed.
*Ensure that the display is connected to the correct port and powered on.
*Ensure that the display data cable is not damaged and replaced if necessary.
*Ensure that the correct Input Source on the display is correctly selected.
*Remove the data cable from the system. A Self-Test box should appear on the display.
*If the Self-Test box does not appear on the display, replace the display with a verified working unit.
*If there is still no display showing, check if the video was shown during the POST routine.
*If the video was shown during POST, the display or graphics driver could be the cause.
*Restart the system into Safe Mode. To load Safe Mode, press and hold the F8 key as your system restarts.
*This loads the Advanced Boot Menu. Select Safe Mode. Install the current versions of the display and graphics card drivers. Restart the system, and check for video.
*If available, replace the graphics card with a verified working card.
*If both graphics card and monitor work ok on another PC, then contact technical support to resolve the problem.
