Great laptop.. fair price. Fast speed, display is great, the battery life could be a bit better, but it’s due to the touch screen option.

    Great multitasker for travel

I’m really liking the new Dell XPS 15. It’s a nice balance between size, performance, and value. I own several Dell machines as well as some custom-built gaming equipment. In general, I have rigs that are built for specific use cases…because I’m a nerd and I spend too much money on my tech. But I also like to keep a multitasker machine around for travel. This little guy fills that role extremely well. Out of the box, it feels very solid. It has enough weight to it that you don’t get a cheap flimsy feel, but it’s still light enough to make it a great portable option. It is nice and thin. The screen is fantastic. The 1920x1200 resolution is very crisp. The screen is super bright. I turn it down a bit to ease the strain on my eyes. I like the matte finish on the screen, so I don’t have to worry about glare when sitting in a bright airport or working from the car. It is not a touch screen…just so you know. The performance of this laptop is quite snappy. It boots in seconds and opens apps and games quickly. The combination of 16gb of ram, the i7, and the SSD really come together nicely. The 3050 TI graphics card is impressive. I would say it performs about on par with the 2060. That’s not a knock, they are just different designs and bring their own pro’s and con’s to the table. It plays games well. I’ve seen some reviews that say you can play just about anything on high settings. I tend to disagree with that assessment. I find that medium is the sweet spot for this card. When I turn things up to high, I experience some tearing and lag. It still show about 40fps on high, but it doesn’t quite run smooth enough for my taste. On medium settings, I run closer to 100fps. If you turn all the fancy bells and whistled down in your game and just focus on the important stuff, you can pull over 200fps. It does run hot when under a load. You aren’t going to want it sitting on your bare skin. I would recommend running it on a chiller mat when not on the go. It’s very quiet. Even when gaming, I don’t even notice the fans. I suppose that's the tradeoff. Noise control vs heat control. It’s all good, just know that the bottom heats up in a hurry. I really like the sound quality. The build in speakers are great. When I first booted it up, I didn’t love what I heard, but then I found the sound card management app. There are a ton of preset eq options to choose from. If you still can’t find something you like, you can set your own custom EQ. Once I tweaked things a bit, the audio details in music and games were clean and clear. It does a nice job with directional sound. It was easy to tell where shots where coming from. The one thing I don’t love is that there is nothing but USB-C on this thing. I get it, it’s newer, but there are still so many older USB devices in use that I feel it’s too soon to drop the older style entirely. I prefer to have both. This laptop forces you to carry around adaptors. They include one in the box, so you can hook up an HDMI cable and a single older USB device. I would prefer to have HDMI, and one older USB connection built in. It’s not a deal breaker but having to dig out adaptors to use flash drives and wireless mouse receivers is a bit annoying. It does have an SD card reader built in, but I would have preferred HDMI and/or older USB over a card reader. I would definitely recommend running all of the updates as soon as you get it out of the box. There were several critical updates for Windows and Dell drivers, even a bios update. Note: if you can't get the bios update to run, just wait a bit. It conflicts with bitlocker background processes when you first turn it on. It will run later, just worry about the other updates until bitlocker is done doing it's thing. If you want a Dell to run strong, you need to keep it updated. It comes with a 1 year antivirus subscription, so you don’t have to worry about that extra expensive right away. So ya, there you go. I love this thing for travel. It lets you do just about anything you want as long as you don’t expect it to perform like a $3k rig. It’s light, thin, and powerful for its price point. If you don’t need a super high-end laptop and are looking for something smaller and portable (but a little bigger than the 13” screen fad), this is a great option. I’m glad I have it and would definitely recommend it.

Great laptop with an actual graphics card that is great with Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCad/REVIT. Screen is really nice. I have Precision model for work and the only difference is 32MB memory and a 4k touch screen which is incredible. I would like this option but primarily use it with a 32" 4k monitor so it is not critical. Wifey has XPS 13 with 4k and it is really nice but I would rather have the graphics card with 4GB memory. Excellent laptop

Exceptional laptop for school work and "light" gaming. This is the laptop that kids tell their mom to get for "school". Easily can run anything with its graphics card. Convenient upgradability and screen size and clearness make this a must buy for 2021 college laptops. And of course for some "light gaming".

This is a fast computer. I've always loved the XPS model and this version is no exception. It's hard to run resource intense programs like Adobe After Effects on a lot of laptops, but the XPS 15 runs it really well. I'm also someone who works with 16+ browser tabs and 3 browser windows open (I freelance for several different companies). I can do all of this without any noticeable slowdown. Would definitely recommend this laptop.

If you a die-hard Windows fan this is a great laptop for you. Quality is great, materials are premium. The screen is nice and bright but just 1080p, and it is very noticeable on 15.6". Fans were very noisy even after all updates and installations. I had to install Dell power manager to change the mode to silent, and it became less bothering, but still noticeable. And it gets warm very fast even in very trivial tasks like browsing and working with documents. The performance is great with Core i7/16Gb/RTX 3050. But after few days I realized it's not worth the price tag even when on sale. Add $200 more (to the sale price) and you can get MBP 14" which is better in every way if you're not a gamer (but if you are you wouldn't buy XPS anyway). Returned it.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT, Otherwise Great Laptop

When I first got this laptop, it was like a dream. Great screen, battery, keyboard, speakers, performance, etc. All the things you needed in a high-end laptop. I heard that the previous generation (9500) of this laptop had some issues with the trackpad, but I shrugged it off as I seen some reviews noting the improvement. I even saw the floor model, which was good. At this time, I only had gripes on how when the laptop was charging or under a heavy load, the temperature would be too warm. The display is also prone to easy scratching by the keyboard, so I had to place a cloth in between it and the screen to keep it from scratching while closed. These were just minor issues, and that was to be expected with the slim chassis and a plastic screen (with my model). However, after a month of use, I encountered an issue with the trackpad. It would not click correctly when not placed on a flat surface, like a lap. (Isn't it it's purpose?) The whole trackpad would tilt to one side. I called customer support at this time to fix the issue, where they sent me a replacement unit. The replacement had the same issue. I returned it and asked again. I got no response from support, however. I then filed a BBB report against Dell for ignoring me. I got a representative to help me. She told me that the defect is "the nature" of the device. She offered a full refund, however, which I gladly accepted. I was soon told that the refund was "processed" and received a reference number. I provided Best Buy support with the number, which turned out to be invalid. I also went in-person to a Best Buy store with the number, which again turned out to be invalid. I also checked my credit card/account balance. Nothing. Nada. Dell's support is now claiming that I have taken off with the money and kept the laptop. They are flagging my serial number and withholding any support with my device. Now, I am helpless and stuck with a defective laptop and a broken promise. This experience has left me VERY frustrated and left a BITTER taste in my mouth from Dell. I don't think I would EVER buy a Dell product again after this. So, beware that if you get this laptop with any sort of defect, Dell's customer support will not seek to help you, you are on your own.

This is a beast of a computer. I find the best Windows experience is on a Dell XPS. Every year they fine tune the design to be even better. The screen with the thin bezels are amazing and they started putting the webcam in the top center where it belongs. The mouse and battery like is great considering the video card and processing power. Do not regret this purchase.

Dell continues to make a great XPS laptop. I've had a XPS 13 for about 6 years and no issues with that laptop the entire time I've owned it. When I started to look at buying a replacement, I knew I wanted to look at XPS again. Everything about this XPS 15 met my requirements and I also wanted to have the option to upgrade RAM and SSD at some point. After only a few days, I've ordered 64GB of RAM and two 2TB SSD upgrades. It came with Windows 11 Home, but I upgraded to Pro the first day. I read the reviews on the GPU not being the best for gaming, but I don't use the XPS for games, so it more than meets my needs to do some coding and virtualizing. I conditioned the battery, charged it up to 100%, then ran some background tasks and got 7H, 20M before it needed the charger. More than enough for my workloads. The Intel i7 8-core is very fast. I considered the i9, but after doing some comparisons, the i7 was the choice. Screen is crisp and bright.

I've had it about a month, and I'm already having issues with the screen flickering. My last XPS died after a couple years of really light use, and I was hoping for a better experience with this one. It's super pretty and I love the giant screen, which is basically why I gave this a second chance. It does have plenty of perks, like the giant screen, giant trackpad, premium look and feel, and pretty good spec's. But I just havent had a good experience with the two Ive had now. Also, the battery life is pretty bad compared to my xps 13.

      Dear Doodlebob,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad you like the specifications, big trackpad, big screen, and premium look and feel of your Dell XPS 9510 laptop but we are sorry to hear that you are not too happy with its battery life and flickering screen.

To help with battery life, I have provided the steps to change the power plan to help improve the performance of your battery. I have also provided the full article, which has more options if they are needed.

      Change the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver features.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2vfXWf4

To help with the screen issues, we recommend making sure, that all drivers are current and up to date. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads Page for your Inspiron laptop where you can check for any applicable updates.

      Drivers and Downloads Page: https://dell.to/3LYGzTj

We also recommend following these troubleshooting tips:

      1. Run the automated tools in SupportAssist to ensure that the drivers and BIOS are up to date and your computer is optimized
      2. Verify display or video issue on an external monitor
      3. Check for physical damage on the LCD screen
      4. Run hardware diagnostics on the LCD screen
      5. Verify the display or video issue in Windows Safe Mode
      6. Download and install Microsoft Windows Updates
      7. Change the video or display settings, and adjust the brightness
      8. Touch screen troubleshooting
      9. Run a Video Stress Test using Dell SupportAssist
      10. Perform a Windows System Restore
      11. Restore the computer to factory defaults
