Customers are pleased with the XPS 16's impressive battery life and excellent graphics card performance, frequently praising the quality of the speakers and ample storage provided by the SSD. However, some users found the keyboard uncomfortable and the laptop somewhat heavy. The lack of a backlit keyboard was a common point of criticism.

    Dell Fan

I've always been a Dell fan from way back when but this laptop disappointed me a little bit. Visuals are at the level one would expect from a Dell laptop but the audio is less than desired, although able to go pretty loud for a laptop, when turned up high they easily get distorted and just sound cheap all around. And maybe it is just me, but I like the resistance of real keys to type on, example: the escape key and delete key are now just touchscreen buttons behind glass with now feedback feel to them. The mousepad has some feedback but not these new touchscreen keys. Running much cooler than past Dell laptops I've owned is good but the longer average battery life is much better, heavy use gets me 10 to 12 hours! Its plenty powerful for gaming and the work tasks I performed on it so I would imagine the same for school work as well. The provided ports are excellent and I have an external mouse connected. I moved a lot of photographs and music onto this laptop very easily and quickly. And over all it runs and operates pretty quietly, including the key board. For the money I would definitely recommend this laptop computer to a friend and or family member but would be even more supportive if Dell would invest in high grade sounding speakers, not just loud speakers.

First off, the design is really nice. The Platinum color gives it a sleek and modern look, and the slim bezels around the 16.3-inch FHD+ display make everything pop. Plus, the keyboard is super comfortable to type on, which is important for someone like me who spends a lot of time typing. In terms of performance, this laptop can do it all. The Intel Core Ultra 7 processor paired with 16GB of memory means I can breeze through tasks without any lag or slowdown. Whether I'm editing photos, streaming videos, or browsing the web, everything is smooth and responsive. When it comes to gaming, with the RTX 4050 Graphics card, this laptop handles even the most demanding games with ease. The visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is super smooth. It's like having a high-end gaming rig in a portable package. And speaking of portability, this laptop is surprisingly light and slim considering its power. I can easily take it with me wherever I go, whether I'm working from a coffee shop or traveling for business. Battery life has also been impressive. Even with all the power under the hood, I can get through a full day of work without needing to recharge. It's a lifesaver when I'm on the move and don't have access to an outlet. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The Dell XPS 16 has exceeded all my expectations in terms of design, performance, and portability. If you're in the market for a high-end laptop that can handle anything you throw at it, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Dell – XPS 16 16.3” FHD+ Laptop – Intel Core Ultra 7 – Intel Evo Edition - 16GB Memory – RTX 4050 Graphics – Platinum The Dell XPS9640 is a sleek looking laptop with plenty of power. It comes with a 130-watt power adapter that charges the laptop via a USB-C port. The USB-C ports, 3 total, all have power feed through. As normal now the USB-C ports are also Thunderbolt-4. It comes with an adapter to allow a full size USB-A and HDMI port, however this adapter does not store on the laptop, you must carry it with you if you want to use it. The unit has all the Windows 11 bugs during setup and initial use. This is not the laptops fault. The hardware is solid except for the laptop keyboard/track pad. The keyboard is 105% in size with completely flat keys and zero space between them. There are 2 speakers on the side of the keyboard that take up a lot of space. If the keyboard were regular size, and the speakers were placed in another spot, there would be enough room for a number pad. The keyboard is backlit, but at a level that is very low and has faded areas showing signs that the backlight is not very well designed. The key caps are the same color as the top case and when the backlight is off the letters are just a darker color. They do not stand out very well. The backlight does not come on when you power the laptop up, you must turn them on every time. The power button/finger print reader are not marked at all. This will not be an issue for the owner of the laptop but will cause others to not understand how to turn it on. Maybe that was a security feature. The laptop turns on when the screen is opened, a touch of the finger print reader or face recognition work very well to log in to Windows. With the laptop fully charged and powered down the battery level drops to 93% within a few days of being off, something is using power when off. The track pad has no markings, finding the track pad area is sometimes hit or miss, the track pad buttons are also hard to find because of this. There is no touch feel to the track pad at all. Benchmarks show this laptop has plenty of power, the CPU, GPU, and SSD all do really well. I’m not quoting specs because you will be looking at them when deciding if this laptop is for you. The function and aux keys (not really keys) are touch type keys that light up once the laptop is powered on, until then they are not shown at all. Fan noise while bench-marking was very minimal and well within acceptable levels. Because of the odd and limited keyboard, I would not consider this laptop for gaming unless you have external accessories attached via USB-C. Although Dell XPS should be a higher end machine, I feel they made some design decisions that limit the usefulness of this laptop. With everything available, the move of the USB-A and HDMI ports to an adapter shows they had something else in mind, not gaming. If they had meant for this to be a gaming machine, and the specs show it should be, the ports on the machine would not be so limited. In my mind you could find a more useful laptop at a lower price point. Sorry, this is my opinion, find one in the store and look at it for yourself. This design may very well be what you are looking for. Just not for me.

I bought this laptop over the summer for an engineering major in college and I'm barely into the major and im having problems. It was not through bestbuy but i figured more people would see this on here. I have had a lot of trouble with audio output with just watching youtube and stuff. It will not let me change the volume when my airpods are connected or it wont play audio through my airpods even though they are connected and the default audio output source. There was another time the normal speaker audio just was permenantly stuck at zero and it wouldnt let me change it. I don't know how i did it but i eventually fixed that but the computer as a whole has been a huge letdown. The computer really isnt even that fast and the trackpad is awful. There is no right click button and there is no fixed spot where the trackpad begins and ends and if you scroll on one side maybe too far to the left or right it will just tweak its weird. If you are also running more than 3 apps at once even if they dont take up too much ram it will slow down significantly. The battery life is also terrible. i have it running for like 2 classes straight which is around 2 and a half hours total and it will nearly die if not die on me through the second class. The one great thing about this that i loved was the graphics are incredible i will give it that. I had very high expectations with reading reviews and with the capabilities of this thing and i was sorely let down. I personally would not recommend this to anybody else.

    Fast Powerful and Versatile

After a week of using this new laptop I am very pleased with what it has to offer. It is fast, powerful and sleek with a great screen and a high quality camera. Out of the box, the laptop was easy to setup as a replacement to another laptop. There were a few "errors" during setup but the computer self corrected after a few minutes and I could start setting it up. By logging in with my Microsoft ID most of the settings from my other laptop were already configured. After that, it took me a few hours to install my work software and games and I was ready to go. The first thing I noticed is how fast and powerful this laptop is. It installed software quickly and never hesitated during any intensive applications. To test the graphics, I loaded a graphic intensive driving game and was able to play it on the highest graphics level with no lag. The screen is initially set pretty dim for efficiency but can be very bright if you want it. The graphics quality while watching FHD videos is also very good. One of my favorite things about this laptop is the integrated camera. Since I am on Teams calls most of my days the camera quality is important. Compared to my previous two laptops, this camera is far better. The videos are crisp and clear, and you can use the camera for face ID to unlock your laptop. Regarding the laptop output options. It only comes with Thunderbolt (USB-C) outputs. It has three. One is used for the power source. However, it also comes with a small adapter that plugs into the Thunderbolt and converts it to either a regular USB or HDMI. I wasn't aware this came with the laptop but glad it did. Overall, the most important thing is that it works flawlessly and that I have no complaints. It is a high quality and versatile laptop that can be used for work, fun and everything else you need it for.

    Fast and Beautiful

Although the Dell Secure Boot does not boot as fast as some other laptops, once booted it is quite fast. And it has got to be the loveliest laptop ever. Though not a touchscreen, the 16" screen presents lovely images. Even the illuminated keyboard keys and special keys make me think of an extravagant sleek design. Although the touchpad is rather generous in size, I found that I occasionally accidentally touched it while typing which caused some typographical errors in my document but I got accustomed to it eventually. That same touchpad is a marvel when used intentionally as such - having a nice feel to it. The actual dimensions of that touchpad are not visible, so I think that is likely the cause of those typos mentioned earlier. In addition to being attractive hardware, the laptop is a good size and weight for, uh, sitting comfortably in your lap for long periods and it did not get uncomfortably warm. I also noticed the audio sounded pretty good even if nobody expects that from laptops. This device comes with Windows 11 pre installed. I found the setup to be quite smooth and straightforward. It offers a very complete set of apps for work or play. Dell has delivered a truly attractive, fast and fully functional high quality product.

    Speedy but pricey

The 2024 Dell XPS 16 Evo Edition is quite the attractive laptop. It's got a solid build and still manages to not be terribly heavy. The Intel Core Ultra 7 is a powerhouse, but it really should have come with more than 16gb of ram for the cost. The included RTX 4050 isn't going to help you get the best out of AAA games, but it will get the job done with most major titles at more modest settings. The keypad leaves a bit to be desired, but such is life in a laptop. The trackpad seems to work well and I experienced no issues. The 16.3" FHD+ display is bright and looks great. The resolution is enough for most use cases. The webcam is 1080p and offers quick facial recognition, and includes windows hello capability for video and fingerprint biometrics. The position of the webcam is good, glad they are sticking with the top install. Previous models had it placed under the display which left you looking up your nose on zoom calls. It seems to really shine in the battery life department. So you should have no difficulty using it for business/education productivity on the go. Previous XPS models delivered a little more bang for your buck. This one is pricey, but still quite good. Be prepared to come a lot deeper out of pocket on the more capable builds with better GPU and display. Overall I would still recommend as these Dell XPS laptops are always a good choice for productivity workhorses.

This laptop was everything I ever wanted. The build quality is amazing, everything works as expected, and it looks unique. The new function row is a little odd, but nothing you can’t get used to as well. Overall 10/10
