Large screen, fast octo-core, good keypad, and touchpad. The Windows version is Home so we will probably upgrade to Pro. Before that, I would boost RAM to 32 G. These are not complaints, simply improvements that fit our needs. Most of the ports are C-type Thunderbolt 3 and are thus quite fast. Expect to add some adapters for older external hardware. I put a chillpad underneath because they do run a tad warm, but again, that is a personal choice.

I upgraded the RAM to 64gb and swapped the micron SSD for two SK Hynix Platinum 1TB ssds working in a RAID 0 configuration.

Dell's XPS 17 has the form factor of a 15 inch MacBook Pro. It uses a phase chamber for cools and some pretty beefy fans. I upgraded the RAM to 64GB for the programs I am using. The only downside is there is no XMP setting in the BIOS. Two Nvme drive bays for extra space or RAID config. The screen is.....amazing. Deep colors and awesome brightness. The 2060 GPU is a plus but a bit on the low side for 4K gaming. You might need to reduce the res on it. Overall, its powerful, 17inchs of amazing screen and super portable. I took one star off for not allowing XMP and the outside cover is VERY prone to scratches.

It is very convenient to be able to work with several input modes. With the touchpad, a mouse and the touch screen. Nice screen colors and very good speakers. The best speakers I ever had in a laptop. I enjoy the large easy to use touchpad. It works fluidly, without any hesitations. The price is a little high.

Look no further than this baby. In terms of weight, there is just 0.5 lbs difference between 15 inch xps and 17 inch xps. However, the extra anti-reflective 4k screen estate you get with 17inch is totally worth. Apple world can never see these spec, track pad, and scintillating XPS (billion color) screen.

Great Laptop For Work

It is very fast and the screen looks great. The battery life is decent, next time I'd consider passing on the 4k touchscreen as it sucks a lot of power. The large screen size is really nice, and the laptop does not feel too large or bulky.

The graphics are so clean and crisp, I don't get eyestrain as quickly as I used to. This machine is also much faster and nimble. It is a bit heavy so I won't carry it around as much, but all in all a great investment.

Battery life is about 100 minutes. It operates horribly slow. My previous computer -- an HP -- is 5 years old and nevertheless operates faster than this piece of garbage Dell. I don't know if it's that SSDs can't handle 1TB or something else wrong with my machine specifically, but I am not coming anywhere near a Dell ever again.

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the issues that you've had with your computer so far. We'd recommend the following tips to help extend the life of your computer's battery:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Great 17 inch Laptop

The SSD drive and the keyboard are great. I use a mouse and therefore would like the keypad to be a bit smaller.
