The system works well, the OS is easy to understand. It was very helpful that Best Buy in Cary, NC had the desktop in stock, the Geek Squad provided in-home service for set up and migration of date within 2 weeks of purchase and the Geek Squad Agent was very knowledgeable, arrived on time and was pleasant to deal with. Overall, the experience was very satisfactory and was accomplished to my satisfaction.

I called Best Buy customer service to inquire about a new computer. The young lady that helped me had the patience of a saint. Im not tech savy at all, but she explained everything to where I could understand it. My new computer was shipped directly to my residence. I hooked everything up and I love it!!!

The XPS experience

The Dell XPS series tends to focus towards tasks, programs, and performance. The XPS 8960 Desktop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 does just that enabling smooth multitasking between tasks using Windows 11, with a flair of gaming capabilities.
With that in mind if one looks toward the different tasks available to a PC the XPS either overdelivers or underdelivers to the consumer - but may be just the right fit for some.
Tasks and programs the XPS 8960 is well equipped for everyday business/work use. The 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor equipped with 16GB DDR5 RAM allows for quick transition between tabs and tasks. My work requires a virtual desktop which easily bogs down a computer system, but instead keeps up well even when completing tasks both within and outside the virtual desktop simultaneously. I will easily have YouTube playing within one portion of my screen while completing tasks in the other. Photoshop also seems to run smoothly on the system for at least the casual consumer. I do not boast to know really what I'm doing in photoshop, but can remove a person or two from a photo and this system had no issues. Another large plus for this system is the 2TB of HDD storage. Keeping the storage HDD keeps down the price while having an SSD for booting keep speed on the forefront. The 2TB allows for pictures, games, and numerous files to be kept without concern for running out of space. If was only equipped with the 512GB SSD I would be concerned for this desktops work utility. Along with work, depending on ones work/play activities having available multiple USB connections and a SD card reader keeps one easily equipped for most device or memory hookups. There are a total of 7 USB Type A ports and 2 USB Type C ports, which my only critique is within the past few years more and more devices (including my mouse) have transitioned to Type C. Just keep this in mind - there are adapters out there worst case. All-in-all a versatile desktop for the at home workplace (may be work or fun).
Gaming the XPS 8690 does decent. The system seems to provide a more smooth and efficient gaming experience when displaying in 1080p, which for some gamers is just not good enough these days. With that in mind gaming does well overall in my experience with my favorite MMORPG and various Steam games. With 1080p and high end graphics I was able to get between 45-60fps without much issue. I am not terribly picky with my fps; however, this would be a game ender for some. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 provides the casual/moderate gamer with a good experience. I am happy, but I know multiple gamers who would not be. The fan does get moderately loud while gaming in an attempt to cool the system; which if gaming with headphones is not a problem but to only those around. Overall, I feel comfortable with this system allowing me to play many of the newer games on the market - maybe not with the best graphics out there or highest fps but at an acceptable level considering price of desktop. When considering the whole package I consider this acceptable. And as a side note there is a keyboard and mouse included but I did not use either of those as have my own accessories outfitted with lovely RGB capabilities.
Overall, this Dell delivers as advertised. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 is considered a high-end graphics card and allows for proper graphics, just may not be for everyone; however, I do believe those who the RTX 3050 does not live up to their expectations of a gaming system, would not be looking at this system in the first place. If you have stumbled upon this desktop for one reason or another and believe this pre-built system specs live up to your needs, I expect one will be satisfied

Solid desktop perfect as a daily driver for web and light office work. The RTX would allow for some entertainment software, but since this was used with a 80 year old grandmother I don't see much CoD happening. Microsoft account allows for an easy transition. You could do so much worse than an XPS.

Completely satisfied with this purchase. Had to replace my old reliable 15 year old Dell XPS which finally died. That's why I went with another Dell brand which happened to be on sale. Super easy transition of my old files thanks to cloud backup.

Easy to set up and keep up to date. Running most of my games at 1080p high to very high settings without issue. Wish the two terabyte drive was also ssd and would have liked a slight uptick with the graphics card but honestly not bad at all.

This is my second XPS desktop, and sports an updated Intel I7, the same processor in my older XPS. The main difference in this one is that the majority of the storage is in the form of a 2Tb hard drive and a 512Gb solid state drive. Of course the operating system (Windows 11) installed on the SSD. This makes for a pretty speedy machine. I have deliberately tried to over-work it by opening large images in Photoshop, performing several edits, undoing the edits in quick succession and can't get this thing to hiccup. Not bad, sort of lends itself to the idea that this PC would be suitable for gaming. It did crash a bit when doing huge Windows updates, not sure I'd blame that on Dell though.
It has an NVidia graphics package, that might have helped the performance with the photos. Sharp, bright with no hesitation in the display. Realtek audio is the sound system on the board, the usual reliable but no-frills audio package, pretty much identical to the one in my older XPS.
I found it a bit odd that with a pricey tower of this size Dell decided to forego an optical drive, but I guess most people are ditching disks for wireless transfer and USB drives. I would still like to pop in a DVD or audio CD once in a while but not with this machine. I still have some software on DVD's too. I guess that makes me a caveman.
The specs say you can upgrade this machine to 64Gb of RAM, which should make it even more sturdy. When you are doing something processor-intensive, you should hear the fans kick in inside this cabinet. Wow. Noisy. It only happened when installing Office. Whirrrrr.
I think the price of this will come down in time. I'd recommend it to anyone who can afford it though. It's a nice, fast PC.

this is my second Dell XPS and so far I'm well pleased. Dell seems to require less driver updating, etc at the initial purchase and it appears that Windows 11 will be a good choice.
