I am impressed with the DeLonghi - Dedica 14-Cup Coffee Grinder. Only having ground my own coffee once before, I wasn't really sure what to expect and how it would be any different than just a grinder with an on/off switch. I was wrong. This grinder is set to impress the beginner to the professional coffee connoisseur. Easy enough to add the bean and grind, but feature rich enough for the coffee snob who only takes their coffee just so. PROS - Sleek, Stylish - Powerful - Easy to use - Multiple settings for any preference - Quick set up - Small footprint for your counter-top - Receiver cup has a stay-fresh sealer top to keep coffee fresh even in the refrigerator CONS - A bit dustier than I would have expected from the higher end machine, but by no means a deal breaker! If you love fresh ground coffee and want more than a throw-a-way grinder, this is the one you need to have! Get it!

This is a high end coffee grinder, with lots of options. Looks: Looks great on the counter. Stainless steel and black rubber make up most of it, with some plastic parts. It has excellent build quality and feels very well made. Features: 18 different grind settings, with everything from French press to espresso and everything in between. The LCD screen makes it easy to set brew strength and cups. It also lets you know if any of the parts are not set in there correctly (IE the bean hopper or the grind bin). You can grind into the "normal" bin, or directly into a portafilter (the part that goes directly into an espresso machine, rather than transferring it over, the grinder comes with an attachment to grind into one of these, and the attachment fits inside of the grinder for storage). The "normal" bin also has an airtight lid with a rubber stopper so you can store grinds if you grind too much at once. Useability: The grinder is easy to use. Simply turn it on, use the dial to select the number of cups you, bush the strength button for either light, normal or strong, and push the "play" button. The grinder will automatically grind as much as it needs to in order to get the correct number of grounds. Cons: It is a little messy, as is any grinder. There is not much static electricity build up, which makes dumping the grinds into the coffee maker easy. I do feel that it grinds too much coffee for your settings. If it set it to "normal" and 9 cups for my coffee pot, it grinds a bit too much I feel. Other than that, this is an excellent grinder.

This coffee grinder made our other grinder look like a toy. Not only was this coffee grinder more powerful, it also ground the coffee in a way that the grounds felt silky smooth. I made a latte and the difference in smoothness was so obvious you could actually 'feel' the smoothness of the coffee, and it tasted far better too. The manual is adequate to cover the simple operation. One nice feature but slightly confusing thing is that this grinder comes with an attachment that stows inside the base area. This attachment allows you to use the coffee grounds holder from another product which is also a great product called the DeLonghi Espresso Machine. You use the handled grounds holder in place of the grounds collection jar that comes with this machine. It's nice in that if you have both machines you would be able to use the handled grounds holder; and you simply can move the handled holder over to your espresso machine - beautiful. But at first it is not clear that you simply need the other machine to get the 'double-duty' handled grounds holder. The use of the machine is really easy to set your amount, fineness of grind and strength of brew. A beautiful LCD screen is easy to read. It is also a breeze to clean since you can remove the upper burr. It also comes with a cleaning tool. A safety feature will not allow you to grind coffee unless the jar holding the beans is properly seated. This is a solid and excellent device, well designed and looks beautiful too.

    High Quality and Flexible Grinder

The Dedica coffee grinder can be summed up in two words: ultimate flexibility. There are 18 settings from espresso to drip/pour and french press. There are three settings for strength and an option to grind from 1-14 cups. I'm no expert but in my opinion this is the grinder to have for those who consider themselves coffee connoisseurs. It's extremely easy to use. Simply put the hopper on the top of machine and turn it to lock it into place. Pour your beans in and then select the size of the grind from a dial in front of the hopper. Next, you select how much to grind by turning the dial on the right hand side of the unit. The LCD will display how many cups you have chosen. Then, choose the strength by pushing the button under the LCD to the right. You can choose from light, medium, and strong. I believe this affects the "aroma" of the brewed coffee by grinding a bit more if you select "strong" and vice versa. Finally, press start and watch it do its thing. It will automatically stop once it has the right amount. It might take a few tries to find the exact settings to make your perfect brew, but the point is you can dial it in to exactly what you want. It also will remember your settings when powered off, so you can quickly grind it the same way every time. As with any grinder, after use you should clean it. A brush is provided. The build quality of the machine is outstanding. It's relatively lightweight and is manufactured of stainless steel with a plastic base. The grinders look to be heavy duty. Admittedly, this machine is probably too nice for my counter top compared to the other appliances I have. I was expecting it to be louder but it is really quiet and quick. It's also mostly idiot proof. An icon on the LCD will flash if you haven't installed the hopper or forgot to put the storage container into place. Speaking of the storage container, it is an air tight container that can be used to store your grinds. Although storing them probably negates the reasons to grind your own coffee. There is also the option to grind directly into an espresso portafilter. A portafilter adapter is included in an accessory drawer in the base of the grinder. Simply attach the adapter and your portafilter to the adapter. Then hold down the start button until your portafilter is filled with grinds. All in all, I won't be buying pre-ground coffee from the store again, and am now on a quest to find my perfect roast!

This Delonghi Dedica is my first grinder. Overall I like Delonghi products and this grinder does not dissappoint. Here are the pros and cons: Pros Easy to clean Made well, feels heavy duty Decent consistency in grinds 18 settings for grind Small cups or bulk grind. Nice stainless steel look. Good, large LED display. Fast Cons Vibrates a bit Louder than I like. I imagine all grinders are loud . Tall I think this a good value for the money and you usually cannot go wrong with Delonghi products. Fits well into a kitchen that has stainless steel appliances. Recommend.

    A Coffee Grinding Beast

I'll make the assumption if you're looking at the DeLonghi burr grinder, you already understand the benefits over a conventional blade grinder. A few years back I had started taking my coffee making a bit more seriously and purchased a cheaper burr grinder. It worked well, but the grounds never had the size consistency I expected. It never really bothered me as the coffee still tasted great. When Best Buy gave me the opportunity to review the DeLonghi I didn't leap at the opportunity. I had a burr grinder that works fine. It's small enough I can put it in a cabinet when not in use. At the same time, I wanted to know what I was missing. Is it worth the price difference? The DeLonghi is a beast. It's a mix of stainless and plastic (I can't confirm if it's BPA-free). It has a nice LCD display that shows your grind settings and let's you customize the strength as well. Overall, an extremely nice looking piece. It's also a pass through design vs a chute. The thinking is all the grounds will fall through instead of the chute design which there's always a bit of "residue" leftover which could impact your next round. One part that stood out was the size of the actual grinding mechanism. It has to be 1/2" thick piece of stainless steel. Operation is simple. Dial in your settings and press go. The sound is tolerable - you are grinding coffee beans after all. The beans all funnel down to the stainless grinder and you can hear the quality and strength of the motor as it doesn't miss a beat. Pop off the canister and you'll notice the equally sized grounds. The canister can also be used for storage as it nice rubber cap. I ran a test grind on the medium setting of the DeLonghi and my old burr grinder and the consistency of the DeLonghi was far better. I don't make espresso at home, but I can't see any reason why this wouldn't work perfectly to grind that fine. I'm really looking forward to trying the different settings to get my coffee exactly where I want it. It might be time to get the French press out again.

I really like this coffee grinder. It is designed well, and looks great on my counter top. It blends in well with my other appliances on my counter top. What I like best about this grinder is how it removes the harshness of the beans, but still leaves a full bodied flavor. When I finished grinding my first batch, the beans very grounded very finely and I didn’t have a lot of the grounds left over when I used a French Press. The grinder comes with 18 settings, 6 variations for fine, medium and coarse. This helped me be able to grind the beans to my different family member’s taste, which has led to less coffee being thrown out. Another benefit of the grinder is that you can fine tune your grinding which helps with timing your Espresso shots. The grinder does a nice job of heating the grounds less when grinding. It is nice to have a machine that can grind a single serving and up to 14 cups. I have found this grinder to be a great upgrade over any grinder that cost under $100. Coffee that I have grounded in this grinder has helped improve the taste of my coffee in other coffee machines that I use or have used.

Really am impressed by this DeLonghi Coffee Grinder. It's sleek, solid design, simple controls, and easy-to-follow directions, make this actually fun to use! Grinding the coffee beans themselves was quick, and relatively quiet; giving you fine, evenly sized grounds. And the aroma ... There's nothing quite like freshly ground coffee. Just make sure to read the instruction booklet, so you know what types of beans NOT to grind in this machine.

The Dedica is a nice coffee grinder, but there are certainly a couple of quality of life things that could have made this perfect. For the most part, it does its job. What I really like about this grinder is the granularity in grinding my beans. I can select how fine to grind, as well as have preselected cup sizes. This becomes very helpful if you like to grind and brew immediately without needing to store for later. While that is nice, it kind of becomes useless because I am unable to grind directly into a filter/custom holder. I have to use their included jar, because that's what presses the activation buttons in the grinder to allow it to work. I have used many other grinders in my life, and this one makes the most mess. Because the jar comes in contact with the grinder, removing when finished will cause enough vibrations that the extra coffee will now fall out and get all of your counter. I have not had one grinding session without needing to clean up... how frustrating! Overall, the quality of the machine itself is certainly built quite well. The grounded coffee comes out fantastic, and its definitely built to last. I would recommend this based on that alone, but know what you're getting in to. If you can look past the slight hassle of using this grinder, then it is a must buy.

I like this machine. It's well built. The controls are straightforward. The grinder has 18 grind settings, 6 each for Fine (1-6), Medium (7-12), and Coarse (13-18). It also has three “Strength” settings, which determines how heavy a grind goes into each cup. Thus a Light strength will produce fewer grams of coffee grounds, while the Medium and Full settings will grind more grams per cup. This allows fine-tuning for individual tastes, and is particularly important for proper timing of espresso shots. Now that I have figured out the grind size, number of cups and strength I need for my taste, I am able to just push a button and get the same quantity of consistent grind every morning. I like that it remembers your settings even if you power it off. For someone that makes the same amount of coffee every morning, that's really convenient. Overall I love this grinder, it grinds quickly and is pretty quiet compared to the smaller 2 cup grinder I had. The particles are much more uniform and the size can be precisely controlled.

Unit comes apart for super easy cleaning and bean loading. Grinds to so many different coarseness settings from regular to super fine. Might even be able to use it as a grain grinder? something to consider. The motor is very strong but a bit loud, But this is expected for a unit built like a tank. A very good unit with great features for everyone.

This is a wonderful coffee bean grinder. I much prefer grinding my coffee from beans as it tastes so much better. This grinder is replacing a much less expensive grinder and the differences are huge. This grinder is quiet and has a number of controls to allow you to grind your coffee as you wish. I have ground beans for everything from a drip maker to espresso and this machine doesn't break a sweet. I also like that I can quickly set it to how much coffee I wish to grind. No more measuring post grind. The grinder also has an attachment to allow you to grind directly into the espresso attachment to make a delicious espresso. The unit is also very easy to clean using the included brush. This grinder is on the expensive end for sure, but the quality is there. The only downside to the unit is that it uses a plastic collection cup that the ground coffee sticks to due to static electricity. Would have rather seen a stainless collection cup to help reduce the coffee sticking to the container. Reducing stars by one due to this oversight on a high-end machine.
