Great all around; complicated at first

When I first received this coffee machine, I was a bit overwhelmed as it seemed like a really complicated device (and it was a bit at first). Firstly, it is simply GREAT and once figured out is a huge step up from even my Keurig, but also an awesome conversation piece for company — whenever we have any these days…I digress.
It also makes cappuccino, lattes, hot chocolate — I even used the brother to make a copycat pumpkin cream cold brew with it and it was sooo good! Just like the real thing! Here are a couple of pros and cons to focus on:
PROS
Can make more than one cup of coffee at once
Metal filter is reusable; no paper filters that are bad for the environment is a plus
Around the clock programming to start brewing coffee
Coffee taste for each person can be customized
Comes with a frother that coffee shops use to make that sweet foamy cream!
CONS
The frother, while great, does not come with it’s own cup
The instructions are a bit confusing (at least for me) at first
You may have to go through some trial and error to get good groove going with your espresso/coffee making
Overall, while I do looove this machine, I will say, if you’re not an avid coffee drinker, I’d pass on it. It’s great, but you will need to dedicate some time to it, keeping it clean, especially if you’re making lot of cream with the frother (like me!)

This machine is close to having it all when it comes to coffee-based beverages. You get the ability to make delicious drip coffee on a programable auto schedule and to make reasonably good espresso all in one 14” wide, 13” tall, 11” deep counterspace-saving machine! Allow me to start to break down some of the features I appreciate.
This machine has a dual heating system so you can be pull espresso shots while actively brewing a fresh pot of coffee. I appreciate this multi-tasking ability as it makes for some nice hosting with guests over-everyone gets their preferred beverage! The drip coffee reservoir and espresso water/steamer wand water are in two separate containers so that you manage and refill the water on each separately as your needs dictate.
I am no expert in the making of espresso specialty beverages, but here are a few tips I have picked up in my research that help with this machine. First, the flavor and body of your espresso shot have everything to do with an appropriate grind of the coffee beans and appropriate tamping of the coffee “puck” in the filter basket. Do not be fooled into buying expensive boutique “espresso beans” your first go arounds with this. Learn how to properly grind (or choose good coffee grounds for espresso) and how to properly tamp first—even Folgers taste delicious when done right! There are some great YouTube tutorials on how to accomplish both of these tasks appropriately to pull proper shots. As the frothing wand goes, it works great and is another item I learned on YouTube how to use appropriately. With enough practice, you can make some great Lattes, Cappuccinos, etc. etc. with this machine; certainly good enough to satisfy the cravings of a daily espresso drinker and to entertain and wow your guests!
The drip coffee system on this is quite cool and straight forward. It includes a reusable “Gold” filter that I find to be great but can use disposable paper cone filters. It has capacity to make about 12 cups it looks like, but the carafe is demarked “10 cups”. It has a programable timer for when to initiate the brewing, a warmer plate, bold setting, and has an auto drip-stop as most brewers do today to let you poor a cup of coffee mid-brew. All in all, those are all the features I personally care about with a coffee brewer and does justify it as a replacement for a standalone drip coffee brewer! The coffee it yields by the way is delicious; not all drip coffee makers are alike. How they introduce water through the grinds and the temperature the water is heated at maters, and this machine produces some incredibly delicious drip coffee!
Altogether, I think this is an excellent package that De’Longhi is offering here. In my opinion, it is an excellent gateway drug into the world of handcrafted espresso beverages; I am already researching higher-end coffee bean grinders, specialty serving glasses, etc. thanks to this machine! De’Longhi is a titan in the industry of coffee and espresso beverages, you will not be disappointed spending your money on this!

The De’Longhi Digital All-in-One Coffee and Espresso Machine delivers a café-style experience right at home. Its digital interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it simple to switch between coffee, espresso, and specialty drinks without confusion. Brews are rich, flavorful, and consistent — whether I’m making a bold espresso shot or a smooth cup of coffee.
The build feels solid and stylish with its black and stainless steel finish, and cleanup is straightforward thanks to accessible components. From morning espresso shots to afternoon lattes, this machine handles it all with reliability and ease. Highly recommended for anyone who wants premium drinks without the café price or effort.

Awesome dual purpose coffee machine!

The De’Longhi Digital All-in-One Combination Coffee and Espresso Machine is the perfect add-on for my kitchen. This beautiful black and stainless steel machine fits my need for a regular espresso in the morning and an occasional pot of brewed coffee.
The included instruction manuals are very clear about the first time use and regular usage. I use two whisky shot glasses for the espresso pour and my wife likes to use her half height coffee cup directly under the pump. The espresso is very smooth and I appreciate that the manual mentions the importance of tamping the grounds into the portafilter. The portafilter is solid and stands up to the hits for removing the used coffee grounds. I do recommend hitting at a slight angle to prevent popping out the metal pod.
My only slight complaints are the leaking under the machine from the espresso drip tray and the frothier could have a little longer reach for my milk container. I also recommend getting some lessons from your favorite barista if you’re not used to using a portafilter and frothier.
Pros
• Italian 15 bar pressure pump
• Dual heating systems for pump and frothier
• Dual purpose measuring scoop and tamp
• A quality espresso portafilter with one cup, two cup, and pod holders
• Ten cup drip coffee carafe
• Gold tone drip mesh filter
• Antichlorine water filter
• Programmable auto start for brewing
• Separate water tanks for espresso and drip brewing
• Swing arm frothier
• Button lights indicate when boiler pump and frothier are ready
• Adjustable steam knob for the frothier
• Espresso drip tray with float level indicator
• Water level indicator for drip brewing
• Bold setting for drip brewing
• Included descaler package
Cons
• Small leak from the espresso drip tray
• Frothier could be a little longer
• Including a couple shot glasses would have made this a complete package
Summary
Aside from the occasional leak from the espresso drip tray, I am very pleased with the De’Longhi Coffee Machine.

All in all it does what it suggests. It makes a nice hot pot of coffee for a few years. It gets a 4 star review from me because the espresso feature makes it excel. With that being said we have bought this maker twice now. The first time it lasted two years. The second time around I believe that we have had it three years this time.. for the price tag I would hope for at least 5 years as I have gotten that many out of EVERY 20 dollar coffee maker I have ever bought. All in all for looks, operation and doing as described I give it 4 stars. I would easily and GLADLY give it 5 if I would ever get five years out of one.

This is a great espresso/coffee machine combo. Easy to use. Many pros in regards to simple home espresso machines. Only cons I found are in the espresso handle. It can be a little difficult to place in order to run it. Running espresso is a little loud. And wish the steamer nozzle came out a little more as it sits close to the machine. Coffee pot is great. Design is sleek and perfect size for our counter top. Not sure if worth $300, but De'Longhi is a good brand.

I've been using the coffee machine for a little while now. I originally was excited about the express machine as I didn't have one, but have used the coffee machine more as there was no point in having two on my counter.
This is essentially two machines, just fused together. All the buttons for the coffee machine, only control the coffee machine, while the express ones only control that part. The water tanks are also separate, so you fill the coffee one if you want to make coffee and the express one for expresso. Individually, each unit performs well, with the coffee machine being just like any cheap coffee machine you buy, and the express machine being a decent express machine. Each of these could be 5 stars on their own.
The downfall for me is that you have two separate machines together, and so if you already have a coffee machine you really don't need a second one. And since the express machine is for express, with both of these, making just one cup of coffee is not a great option.

Pros:
* Form factor. I've owned similar machines and I have to say that I quite like this machine's footprint. It doesn't take up too much space and is something that I don't mind keeping out on the counters.
* Sleek appearance. This model features nice lines that update the more traditional boxy -but-rounded-corners look.
* Touch-screen controls and stainless steel back-lit buttons. The controls are easy to use and easy to clean. This makes for a happy kitchen. Having coffee brew kick off at a preset time also helps.
* Great stainless to plastic ratio. The whole machine is not stainless steel. And it doesn't need to be. There is stainless in the right places - high contact zones. This makes cleanup easy as well.
* Traditional carafe. The carafe looks like a traditional container. But it does seem to live up to its promise of being spill-free.
* Milk frother is a functional attachment that easily froths up your milk-based product of choice and is easy to clean.
* WATER RESERVOIR. The reservoir is in a clever spot. If you pull out the front right faceplate which houses the chamber for coffee grinds for brewed coffee, you'll see a channel running along the front. This means you can easily fill the machine with water for brewing AND you can place this machine under your cabinets (as I have done).
* Familiar. Basically, it's a traditional brewing machine with which you're already familiar but with the ability to make espresso.
Cons:
* Top warming plate. Unusually, there is no topside warming plate. Not a deal-breaker, but I was surprised it didn't have one. But you can still place your espresso cups atop and they will get lukewarm from use.
Use:
We use the coffee brewing portion of the machine most. Daily, in fact, and it works great. Queue up a brew for the A.M. and wake up to the smell of coffee. Espresso, on the other hand, we use less frequently because our schedules have been a little hectic. On weekends, however, we're able to enjoy a nice cup in the A.M. while watching the sunrise from our patio.
We also cold-brew coffee and quite enjoy it. But we tend to drink it iced since making the cold-brew (which takes fridge space), diluting it, and re-heating seems to take more time cumulatively than having coffee automatically brewed and ready in the A.M.
If you're looking for a machine that makes coffee unpretentiously, this machine can do it. If you need the extra jolts of joy that espresso offers, this machine can do that.

Absolutely love this machine! It was super easy set up. We watched a YouTube video that shows exactly how to use everything. Super user friendly. Only reasons now giving a 5 star is because the espresso side can be hard to get in at times and because the water chamber is only on the left which is inconvenient. Should be on top or accessible from both sides. Aside from that this is a wonderful machine and makes great coffee and espresso!

I'll start off by saying this is a very compact and easy to use espresso and drip coffee combo. Saves lots of counter space as compared to having two separate units. It makes good coffee and good espresso. There are only two downsides, the steaming wand cannot be angled, though it can be moved horizontally, just not vertically. And two, as with other reviews, the power button, which is supposed to blink when turned on, indicating that the unit is heating up and stop blinking once the unit has reached optimal heating, has stopped blinking after about two weeks of use. The unit still turns on and heats up, just no longer indicates when the temperature has reached optimum temperature. Fortunately, because i read the reviews i timed about how long the unit takes to heat up and now i allow it to stay on for the average time it took and then start the brew process.

is a pretty solid choice if you like having both drip coffee and espresso options in one machine. It looks great with the black and stainless steel design and fits nicely into a modern kitchen vibe. The digital display is easy to use, and you can program it to brew coffee at certain times or adjust how strong you want it. The espresso side even has a manual frother, so you can make lattes and cappuccinos, which is fun if you're into that.
That said, it’s not perfect. The machine is kind of big, so it takes up a lot of counter space. Cleaning it can be a bit annoying, especially all the espresso parts. And while the espresso is decent, it’s not gonna blow the minds of hardcore coffee fans who want super authentic shots.
Overall, it’s a good machine for someone who wants the convenience of two in one. If you're just looking for an easy way to have both coffee and espresso options without too much hassle, it’s worth it. But if you’re super picky about espresso, you might want to get something more specialized.

Mine didnt come with the two little espresso glasses nor the frothing pitcher that I see in others images. Oh well I will order a set. I dislike the fact that the coffee portion has a filter that cannot be purchased at bestbuy but thats not the de'longhi companies fault more bestbuy's. Makes great coffee and espresso. I have tried a few machines over the years and you really get what you pay for this is the most exspensive one I have one and by far the best. No paper filters for coffee which is great. I wish the cord was a little long as I have to shift it due to my limited counter space so I see a new outlet on the counter in my future. Keep an eye on the water level on the tray under the espresso maker. I believe when you froth milk the extra water collects there. Im very satisfied and aside from the cord am not sure why I did not recieve the cups in others images.

Makes excellent coffee and is well designed. The espresso part has lots of pressure to force the water through the grinds. The frothing part takes some practice before you master how long it takes to heat up properly in order to make either a cappuccino or latte.
