Sadly disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first got this machine I thought it was the answer to my prayers. Every aspect of the machine was excellent. A week into owning it, the descale alert came up so we descaled it. The milk system immediately stopped working. I loved the machine so much I was sadly disappointed, so I returned it and purchased another one. I was truly hoping that this machine would work. Unfortunately, it was an exact repeat performance of the first machine. If they could re-design the milk system you would have a winner. Unfortunately I would not recommend this machine because it will bring you heartache. It is not designed for the long term and I am now a Jura customer.

Noisy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine made a lot of weird noises and the coffee did not taste that great either. On the other hand, the latte foam was about the best I have seen for a superautomatic. Ended up returning it.

Good Espresso machine, Excellent automated machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UNBOXING, SETUP, AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: First, I’m not happy with their packaging…definitely NOT on the “environmentally-friendly side, as too much plastic was used. That being said, overall, I REALLY like the design. De’Longhi is known for excellent design, and high quality…and, they do not disappoint in the ‘Dinamica with LatteCrema’ (henceforth, simply referred to as ‘Dinamica’, as I really don’t want to constantly type “with LatteCrema”). Even though it’s ‘too small’, this would easily fit in your favorite coffee shop’s setup…except for the touchscreen display, it looks like a smaller version of the commercial machines used by Starbucks, Peet’s, and similar places. Obviously, it’s not cheap, nor is it a “plug-n-play” device – there IS a bit of a learning curve…so, if you do decide to get this, know, in advance, that you’ll be spending a LOLT of time reading the manual, learning all the intricacies of how to take advantage of all it’s features & functions. Before moving on, it should be noted that the Dinamica has two ‘power’ buttons – a “primary” button in the rear (left on, unless you’re going to be away for several days (or longer), such as when going on vacation), and one on top of the machine (your “daily use” power button). The “daily use” button was hard to press at first, but after the first two weeks, pressing it became somewhat easier. I suspect that, after another 1-2 months of use, it shouldn’t have any further “pressability” (I just ‘invented’ that word, so don’t bother looking it up) problems. USE AND DRINK “QUALITY”: As I stated, above, this is NOT an easy machine to learn to use. To be completely honest, even after using it for three weeks, I’m still having tried every drink option, and I’m trying to figure certain things out. Adding to “operational confusion”, the manual is a bit ‘scattered’, as there really isn’t an “order” to the possible drink combinations – you WILL find yourself jumping ahead, then back, then ahead again, in the manual. At the same time, show me any barista who’s learned everything in a single day (hint…such does NOT exist). If you’re a “coffee snob”, this machine is NOT for you. It makes very good coffee/espresso (on a 1-10 scale, I’d say, of the drinks I’ve tried, I’d rate them as low as ‘6’, and as high as ‘8’), but some other consumer machines (including, from what I’ve read, De’Longhi’s own Specialista) can do a better job. The Philips LatteGo, which I’ve been using for the past year, does much better on most, but not as good in other ways. This is NOT to say that the De’Longhi Dimamica is bad…quite the opposite. There ARE things it does quite well, and there ARE things it does extremely well – ease-of-use being foremost among them, and the reason this unit exists. The ‘grind’ is pre-programmed at a “half-shot” (enough for 1oz of espresso), to which the user controls the strength by adjusting the ‘coarseness’, as well as the amount of water. Using the pre-programmed “recipies”, something like a cappuccino will come out “unbalanced”. You can ‘correct’ this by doing a longer shot (ie. More water), but this causes it to be too weak. In order to ‘correct’ that, you need to do the standard shot, then add another shot of espresso…but, then the milk proportion is incorrect. Thankfully (yes, “solution” coming), within the ‘My Drinks’ menu, you can program in your own “adjustments”. like I said, this machine DOES have a learning curve…but, once you’ve learned all of its “deficiencies”, and learned how to adjust them to your preferences, you can turn those ‘6s’ to ‘8s’ into ‘8s’ to ‘9s’ (I won’t say ‘10’, as I don’t believe any consumer-grade machine can truly make a ‘10’). Of course, if you just want an espresso, I’d easily rate the Dinamica’s ability to a ‘9’. The milk steamer/frother is a wonder of its own. Not only does it rinse itself when turning the machine on, but it also automatically rinses itself after each drink is made. Speaking of which, because of this, you ALWAYS want to keep a container in place…unless you enjoy constantly cleaning up messes on the counter. Another note – because the Dinamica doesn’t have a separate steam wand (the steamer & frother is the same spout), it does tend to cause the steamed milk to be slightly “watered down”. While some won’t really care, others could find this to be a huge “problem”. Personally, while I don’t like it, I don’t hold a “grudge” against it…it is what it is. The true “star” of the Dinamica is its touchscreen display…and, this IS where the unit shines. De’Longhi has included more drinks than I even knew existed, and they’re all easily accessible from an easy-to-use interface. While some of the pre-programmed drinks won’t be up to some people’s ‘standards’, most settings can be changed, via the previously-mentioned “My Drinks” menu. Also…getting back to that exhausting, and somewhat-confusing, manual…another great thing about the touchscreen display is the on-screen instructions. While the manual is on the4 “difficult” side, the on-screen instructions helps to make things somewhat easier to understand. While there are several ‘adjustments’ you can make in customizing your drinks, unfortunately, adjusting the amount of milk is NOT one of them. This means you’ll just have to “compensate” by making adjustments elsewhere and/or doing some of your own manual “adjustments”. ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: The Dinamica comes with a 3-year warranty (IF you register on De’Longhi’s website), which is 1-2 years longer than most other manufacturers. This is a nice “plus”. At the other end of the spectrum, De’Longhi used an excessive amount of plastic in the Dinamica’s construction. It doesn’t give it a “cheap” look, but it does need to be mentioned. All-and-all, the Dinamica is a great product, and will be worth the money for many people. FINAL VERDICT: As I said near the beginning of this review, if you’re a “coffee snob”, this isn’t for you…BUT, if you’re the type of person who’s time is overly-precious, or the type who prefers “automation” over “hands-on”, or the type who multi-tasks a lot (ex. you don’t have time to stand there making coffee, as you have a review needing to be typed & submitted), etc, then this IS the machine for you. It offers more drink choices that you might know what to do with, and it allows you to customize them (for the most part) to fit your ‘tastes’. On the down side, it does have a few “problems”, but they are certainly not enough to cause me to not recommend it. the last “elephant in the room” is its price. At $1,200, it’s anything but inexpensive. This will put it out of the price range for many…but, for those who can afford it, and who want an automated coffee/espresso machine, this could be what you need (I’m not saying what you “want”, but what you “need”). If it weren’t for the (few) “problems”, I’d probably have given it a 5-star rating. However, due to the (again, few) ‘negatives’, it, realistically, would have been a 4.25-star rating, thus I’m “forced” into rounding down. At the same time, I AM saying “bye-bye” to the Philips LatteGo, and a permanent “Welcome to my home” for the De’Longhi Dinamica with LatteCrema”. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

The Barista in your kitchen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not my first rodeo with these type of machines. I've been using super automatics for over 20 years now. They keep adding more features as they go along - digital displays, custom menus, instant lattes and so on. But does the coffee get better? In the case of the DeLonghi, I would say yes. The first thing I look for is does it deliver a rich crema? Yes it does. It's a thing of beauty to see it pouring out of the spout. Of course, this depends on the type of coffee you use, the grind, the amount. It would be futile for me to offer specifics as everyone's taste & preferences vary. Don't expect your first run to be spectacular. But it will get better as you fine tune to your liking. The main feature of this machine is the automatic latte function. If you follow the recommendations, it delivers a beautiful foam (2%, skim, or non-dairy recommended.) Personally, since I prefer a creamier drink, I prefer to use whole, but you give up some of the foaminess. Once again, patience is the key here. It does specifically say in the manual quote "The first time you use the machine, you need to make 4-5 cappuccinos before it starts to give optimal results." So that means, make 4-5 cappuccinos before you even start to customize your preference. That said, once you've decided in your perfect cup, there's a myriad of settings that can be dialed in to deliver your preferred brew. I may be starting to make this sound more complex than it really is, but then again, you're not reading this because you came here to buy a Keurig! Fact is, once you've made your choices, it then becomes near instantaneous to deliver your daily brew. One thing I didn't like about the Dinamica. I was initially drawn to the machine by the sleek, slim profile. It didn't take long to realize what I was giving up for that - the water tank is too small. I can't find an official capacity in the specifications; what I can say is it holds less than any other machine I've owned in the past 20 years. One more thing - the water filter. My prior machine had a water filter, and I don't mind paying for clean, softened water, but this one's a bit weird. I'll quote the manual again - "The filter lasts about two months if the appliance is used normally. If the coffee machine is left unused with the filter installed, it will last a maximum of three weeks." I don't recall ever seeing that kind of warning about a filter before. It's going bad when you don't use it? I have to think about my water filter when I go on vacation? My refrigerator doesn't tell me that! Whether that concerns you or not, the filters are about $20; if you're forward thinking you can get a 4 pack + descaling solution for $69. There is an option to remove & disable the filter should you choose to go without it - you just need to tell the computer you're taking it out. It was these 2 issues with the tank size & the water filter warning that prevented me from giving a full 5 stars to this machine. But when it does what it's supposed to do - make coffee & lattes - that part of it is 5 stars. And DeLonghi does issue a 3 year warranty, so they do back their product.

Custom fresh coffee every morning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll admit I have never been one to enjoy a standard pot of coffee. When making a batch of coffee I opt for a French press, when looking to make everything else I opt for the Dinamica. The integrated burr grinder is very good and ensures you’re getting the freshest coffee possible. One of my favorite options is the truebrew over ice since you are able to select the strength of the brew and I am reminded to fill my cup with after I hit the button for the true brew. When using the standard recipe I found my cup was only getting 2/3 filled. Therefore, I went into “my menu” used the arrows until the truebrew over ice option came up and hit ok. I was reminded to fill my cup with ice I did so and hit OK again. Same process as before only this time the Dinamica did not stop when my cup was 2/3rds full, it kept going until I hit the OK button again. After I hit the OK button the Dinamica stated it was saving the recipe. In order to see if I was good to go I went to “my menu” selected truebrew over ice, put ice in my cup and watched the DInamica fill my cup to the exact volume I programmed it to. Now, shots of espresso are pulled perfectly, and when I want to make an espresso macchiato all I had to do was attach the milk container and selected the espresso macchiato option. Super simple and a quality drink. The milk container easily detaches from the machine for easy storage in your refrigerator. The Dinamica will not turn out espresso macchiato faster than a traditional espresso machine, but what it will do is give you a full menu of options to choose from which makes it very difficult to justify going to your local coffee shop. Consider, all the coffee drinks took anywhere from 45 seconds to 90 seconds to make. I think this is a small price to pay to get a custom drink in the morning without having to leave your home, and not having to do much of anything other than hit the button, hear the Dinamica grind your coffee beans, pump water through said beans into your cup. I have found myself enjoying espresso macchiatos more often with this machine and while I think there is room for the foam to be more airy and fluffy, I still believe I ended up with a quality espresso macchiato. I find this to be the case since I am normally making 1 – 2 coffee drinks maximum, therefore I think it is wasteful to froth up a ton of milk to only use the top half and dump out the rest of the milk. I will say one of the more challenging aspects of the machine was programming my own drinks. There wasn’t any sort of tutorial to show me how to program my drink menu, I just had to stumble my way through. However, I grew up troubleshooting all electronics growing up so this wasn’t a deal breaker for me. One note is that I kept forgetting what the coffee icons mean on the Dinamica. This is only an issue since the Dinamica immediately starts making the coffee right after touching a menu option. This issue could be remedied if Delonghi changed it so that the LCD screen displayed the coffee menu item and required you hit ok, then allowed you to turn off the feature in the settings yourself once you became accustomed to the machine. Overall, 10 different coffee drinkers had a custom made drink out of this machine so far and all 10 enjoyed their drink. With that being said, I’m off to make myself a ristretto by hitting a button and patiently waiting for the Dinamica to provide me with that coffee goodness.

A really wonderful start to our mornings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had another espresso machine, about the same price point, for a few years that we absolutely loved. The De'Longhi Dinamica came as a gift. After comparing them head to head, we decided to keep the Dinamica. It is pretty wonderful. The machine is sleek and fits well underneath our low(ish) cabinets. The water reservoir and the beans are both easily refilled, the used grounds easily emptied. There are a ton of options for espresso drinks that are all available at the touch of a button. Tasty, too. Milk (or milk-like products) are all neatly frothed. We went from a machine we loved to a machine that we really love. It's simple to use and a real treat each and every morning. I would recommend it to any friend looking to upgrade their mornings.

overall, very good super automatic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These super automatics are only for people that really know what they are getting, and are coffee snobs on a time crunch. This is a very fully featured super automatic that can brew many types of espresso related drinks, including milk drinks. You can brew espresso shots, long shots, ristretto shots and much much more. Each brew is very customizable, and there is a drink menu where you can kind of "invent" your own drink if you wish. You can adjust brew strength and how much water goes into each drink. Milk related drinks are easy to make, and the included milk attachment makes it very easy. You simply fill up the container and attach it to the front of the machine. You spin a nob to adjust how much foam vs liquid milk you want, and there is as clean option as well. This does a very good job cleaning itself, and requires MUCH less manual input from yourself to clean the milk items. Other super automatics that I have had required much more work to clean the milk parts, to the point where I don't use them. The water tank is easy to fill and holds a nice amount of water. I like that you pull the water container straight forward to fill, vs other machines where it is on the back. Ease of use: Very easy to use and clean. Coffee beans are easy to load in the hopper (which is quite large) and there is a spot for on off ground coffee to add for decaf or a flavor if you wish. There are buttons on the front for common drinks (I WISH these were programmable though, my most often brewed drink "coffee" isn't a button, but its in the drink menu). The spout that the coffee comes out of is height adjustable, but the hot water spout is not. The grounds container is easy to pull out and dump. The drip tray is all part of it and is easy to rise/wash as needed. My favorite milk drink to brew is a flat white, and this machine does as great job with it. The drink is hot enough to drink, not too hot but not cool either. I would give this machine 5 stars if the front buttons were programmable, as I almost never use any of them. I end up having to push drink menu, then scroll to the drink I want. Not a big deal, but if I could use a one push button that would be even better. Especially considering I never use the buttons that are there already. Overall: Taste is great, especially for a super automatic. The "coffee" drink isn't the best cup of coffee you'll have, but it is very good and is basically just a super long shot of espresso. So for what it is, the taste is very good. The Creme on the shots that come out is a nice color and consistency as well. All of this, combined with the ease of the milk container makes this a sure bet.

Coffee Shop Quality at Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is what I have been missing in my life. The Fully Automatic milk foaming feature is what makes the difference. Over the years I have had quite a few espresso machines, but none that foam/froth the milk automatically. I never quite got the right frothing technique down and this alleviates all the stress by taking the guesswork out of making a complete masterpiece every time. The machine itself is clearly a high quality unit and it looks great on display in the kitchen. I have had many drinks for myself and for guests with nothing but compliments on how great it tastes. Everyone is impressed at the quality of the brew and final product. The clean up process has been streamlined and just makes it so easy to get guests just what they want with ease. I cannot rave enough about this machine and the quality of beverages it creates. The menu is easy to use and customizable to your preferred preferences. I can’t imagine wanting or needing another machine for many years to come. This checks every box and then some. Add this to your home as soon as possible if you value a high quality beverage you can enjoy with everyone who partakes in its awesomeness!!

This DeLonghi Espresso machine is a game changer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Full Disclosure: I received this product through Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network in exchange for an honest evaluation and an unbiased review. I already own another brand Espresso machine and have used it near daily for about five years. Even though I used it, I did not enjoy the laborious prep, brewing, and cleanup process. With De'Longhi's new and fully automated Dinamica espresso machine, they hope to transform beans into delicious beverages with the ease of just one touch. I would say they have certainly attained that goal and then some! Many kudos to the Dinamica engineering team for a job well done. I always like to mention the product's packaging first because not everyone has a Best Buy store around the corner. Many BestBuy.com customers simply have to hope for the best that their expensive order will be handled with care by the various shipping entities that will lay hands on it. Well, my very heavy, De'Longhi Dinamica ECAM35075SI arrived well-packaged and fully protected in a sturdy, double-walled, outer box with styrofoam inserts to protect the inner product in its retail packaging. The outer retail box contained the machine's packaging, a small box of accessories, a package with complimentary coffee beans, and the paperwork. The inner machine box contained the espresso machine itself, bean hopper lid, hot water spout, condensate tray, grounds container, water tank and lid, and infuser. The smaller box contained descaler, filter, bean scoop, more complimentary gourmet coffee beans, the guide and instruction booklet, milk container with tube foamer/lid, hardness indicator test strip, and a cleaning brush. Everything arrived undamaged. The footprint of the De'Longhi Dinamica is much smaller than the large amount of kitchen counter real estate needed for making the same drinks with my old espresso machine and other traditional espresso machines that I've seen. This is because the Dinamica engineers ingeniously combined a conical burr grinder, an espresso machine, a milk foamer, a bean hopper, and the grounds' waste container all into one, very compact, countertop appliance. To anyone who appreciates a good espresso-based drink, the quality of the Dinamica is readily apparent with the choice of a burr grinder over traditional spinning-blade grinders, which I dispargingly call "dust busters". Burr grinders allow for a more controlled and overall even size of the resulting grounds which give the best extraction possible. The Dinamica's automated grinding, tamping, loading, and dumping of the beans and grounds has completely eliminated a physical requirement for making espresso-based beverages. This feature is a real blessing for me because the physical requirements of making an espresso drink were often beyond my personal abilities due to poor hand strength and hand movement limitations. There were many days that I either had to have someone else make an expresso for me or I had to go out to purchase one. Also, the Dinamica itself and its milk foamer are self-cleaning, eliminating yet another step to making beverages. This gives me even more independence in the brewing arena. Some other nice features of the machine are the grind size adjustment dial, the ability to adjust the aroma, the ability to adjust the strength of every drink, being able to switch from whole bean to ground beans without emptying the hopper, adjustable brewing spouts, the ability to personalize and store drink options, and the fact that it heats up in less than 40 seconds! The only shortcoming I can see with the Dinamica is the smallish size of the water reservoir. Since receiving the machine, I have averaged making four to five double beverages a day for my family and myself. With that amount of brewing going on I have to fill the water reservoir daily. It would be nice if it was larger, but I know there are trade offs in design. So, the small machine footprint wins, making the smaller water reservoir just not that big of a problem for me after all. This automated De'Longhi Dinamica Espresso Machine with its LatteCrema System has become a game changer for me and my family. The various espresso-based beverages we've made have all been excellent. So as a family we can highly recommend De'Longhi's new Dinamica without any reservations whatsoever. Now, if De'Longhi could just come up with an attachment to help me with my latte art. My tulips look like a hippo's backside.

Temperature too low!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Espresso temperature in the cup is 153F. DeLonghi tech support says standard is 150-160. They would not perform any service and say my machine functions normally. They said I should perform an extra manual rinse cycle or heat the cup to get hotter coffee. I owned a De Longhi machine for many years and always got hot coffee. This machine is disappointing. Guess they designed it with lower temperature so nobody burns their tongue. I am stuck with it now after spending $1,400. Not happy. Hope others read my review and consider prior to purchasing.
