It took us some time to get used to it, but I am impressed. Good tip - stay away from the commercial grocery store beans. Always get the fresh roast beans from your local coffee shop, no older than a week or two.

It grinds and has a tamper lever on the side so makes it easy and less messy. The steam wand puts out good power and I have been very happy with the consistency of the milk.

I recommend using fresh coffee beans median light.

There are five preset recipes for coffee which greatly simplifies its use. It was a very productive week! This is the first coffee machine I used that required more than pushing buttons to make a brew. It looked complicated to this button pusher. But the learning curve was far less than I expected. I read the guide, tweaked the grind a few times, played with the milk steamer a bit, and I was making better coffee drinks than any other machine I’ve ever had. It’s actually easy to use and I felt like I mastered the drinks I like within a few days. The milk steamer heats quickly and works well. The silky smooth microfoam takes hot chocolate to a new level of decadence. The smart tamper is remarkably consistent as is the temperature. The Italian-made burr grinder has a range of fifteen grinds to cover any drink and tase preference. The machine grinds just the right amount of coffee for each drink every time. This machine generated 19 bars of pressure, more than double most machines. The Bean Hopper holds a bit more than a half-pound of beans and the water reservoir holds a bit over a half gallon of water. Cleaning is easy, parts can go in the dishwasher. When it's time to descale the machine, an alert will let you know. At nearly 30 pounds, this machine looks and feels very sturdy. Covered with stainless steel and almost no plastic visible. The machine has a very professional presence and visceral feel. The smells and sounds are just right. Overall, it’s a very impressive, professional looking, feeling, and working machine. You can’t help but be impressed and look impressive using it, or so I’m told. The 2-year warranty is twice as long as most others' Limited warranty and provides extra confidence in the quality of this machine. Normally I try to list some things that don’t work well, I don’t like, or a suggestion to improve an area. But I have nothing this time. It’s an amazing machine in every respect. If your budget allows, this should be on a short list of contenders for your purchase. And get some extra milk when you shop as the milk steamer is a lot of fun as you perfect your latte artistry.

It’s an oversized Milk Frother

At that point, it started putting out inadequate dose sizes and incorrect grinds no matter the settings. We cleaned it, reset it, and finally determined that our grinder burrs are worn and need to be replaced. The problem is, they’re not available. DeLonghi says “Hello, Unfortunately , There are no equivalents to offer for this particular part . I do apologize.” Gee, thanks DeLonghi! So, at 2.5 years old, the only thing we can do with it is froth milk.
