Cannot recommend this machine
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a fully automatic espresso machine with a milk frother. The DeLonghi was on sale, so I went with it over the Phillips. I bought my machine in July 2023 and by September I was having to send the entire machine to DeLonghi to get the milk frother serviced. At times the milk frother will spit and spew steam and no milk comes out. In September when I sent it in the machine wouldn’t register that the milk frother was attached, but it would register the hot water attachment. DeLonghi’s ticket system is extremely slow, and each response from them takes DAYS.

Don't buy!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this machine for a little over a month. I read reviews with a lot of others saying that they had issues with the machine. Well, I should've paid more attention. The machine is dead saying no water pressure but will pour water. After an extremely aggravating phone call with customer service they will send me return shipping directions in 3-5 days. I will not have this machine for a party that I've bragged about making espresso martini's. Very disappointed. I'm giving this a very harsh review based off how quick it broke and the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

Not a worthy choice in my opinion
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to love this machine but the ease of use just wasn’t there along with the milk froth system stopped working after two drinks. The instruction manual wasn’t even inline with the buttons on the machine, it was all confusing and definitely not user friendly in my opinion. I returned and exchanged for the Philips 4400 LatteGo machine and this is what the De'Longhi should have been.

Cafe Quality, At Home Convenience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS - Great espresso/coffee, fast - Makes multiple drinks before requiring cleaning - Re-programmable defaults for drinks - Built-in conical burr grinder - Uses its own water filter - Easy to use interface CONS - Only one "My Latte" can be programmed at a time - Adjusting some things can be finicky I will say first, there is a lot of information to take in. I'd recommend taking the time to read through the manual and quick start guide and read it all carefully. There is a lot of cautionary notes and important instructions for using the machine to ensure optimal performance and to prevent damage. While everything might sound intimidating, everything from the instruction booklets/guides to the interface on the machine itself was designed with making it as easy to understand as possible. The booklets are full of step by step instructions that are loaded with pictures and diagrams. The buttons on the machine are obvious enough where you can learn quickly what each does without the need to look it up later. Most stuff you'll come to remember in time but make sure to keep at least the quick start guide close by. I ended up making my own sheet to print out with all the pertinent information for quick access. De'Longhi was nice to supply a small bag of whole bean coffee. The machine needs to be primed (the first initial cleaning of all parts) and part of this process is brewing and discarding 3-4 espressos. This means you don't have to waste your own bought stuff in doing so, at least. There is certainly a process to get the machine customized to where you want it. First the initial setup and then many more brews to tweak the grinder to the ideal level which there's more to say about below. There was still plenty left over to actually enjoy. They also provided some of their descaling solution for future cleaning which I appreciate. WHAT I LIKE The size of the machine is quite shocking considering all it does. It's more long than it is wide which will use the space on your counter more efficiently than if it was the other way around. It's also not much taller than your usual appliances so I'm sure it will fit under the cabinets of most average households. While I loved my previous machine, I found myself having less espresso over time since it was a process to make and required an equal amount of cleaning after every single cup. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed and appreciated the process. I took pride in using the correct amount of grounds, tamping and steaming it correctly and being rewarded for my efforts. This machine is all about convenience. You pour the beans in, connect the milk if necessary, choose your preferred strength and drink and you'll quickly have a consistently fresh made beverage. I recommend the highest setting for the most flavor. The bean, water, drip tray and discarded grounds bin have large capacities which allows you to make a significant amount of drinks before you need to refill or discard. The grinds are discarded in what looks like little brownies which make for easy cleaning. I now get many drinks for every bit of cleaning that is required which is especially invaluable when having many guests over. Plus, no more spending time pre-grinding beans and dealing with the cleanup/storing of them. The LatteCrema system is pretty impressive with how fast it takes the milk, heats it up and froths it. The way I had to do this with my other machine took longer and several more steps to achieve this. The milk frothed really well with everything I used so far which was half & half, whole (cow's) and almond milk. The compact milk container can do up to 2 lattes, 2 cappuccinos or probably a combination of 1 each before needing to be refilled. If there is some left over, It easily detaches so you can store the container in the refrigerator. Nearly absolutely everything can be customized. All the defaults can be changed to your liking, however it must be done manually but more on that below. The only one I don't recommend changing is the coffee default (6.08 oz.) to it's max (8.11 oz) since it will become too watered down. I think all the rest are set at a respectable amount but if it's not to your liking, you can change them as long as they are within the allotted range. At first I thought it was a shame you could only program a single custom My Latte beverage but turns out it's really not necessary with all the preset options. I'm grateful for the one because I was able to program a doppio with using only the minimum allowed amount of milk since I like a higher coffee to milk ratio. You can only do single shots with the other presets so this allows me to fill the milk container to the custom amount I want and it will use all of it. It comes with a couple more convenient features. Surprisingly, it can brew from pre-ground albeit in a limited capacity. It brews really well, but because of the restricted amount of pre-ground you can put in at once, it's slightly watered down. The profile will depend more on what you put in. I used a dark roast each time too, which is probably your best bet for more coffee flavor. I'd recommend using this setting for those who prefer (or just in the mood for) a lighter tasting coffee. Use a medium or light roast accordingly to further effect based on the individual's taste. Or, if you or someone isn't in the mood for coffee at all, it has a spout you can use to dispense hot water over some tea. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE I think the way the grinder is adjusted is odd. The only time you're supposed to turn the dial is the small window when it's grinding the beans while it's in the process of making your beverage. It also doesn't take effect until a couple of drinks later. I can see this leading to a lot of "wasted" cups every time you change brands if it requires a need to change the setting. Based on my previous experience and the extraction guidelines given, the default setting still wasn't ideal so I adjusted it. I misread it (my fault) and went the wrong way so there was a lot of cups made before I got it to where it should be. I'm not sure if there is any way around this when designing the machine but it's still unfortunate. My guess is there is a container that holds a certain amount of reserves under the grinder that it goes through before getting to newly ground beans. The way you customize the default amount that comes out upon a press of one of the drink buttons is done by purely eyeballing it. I find this a bit inconvenient. I was hoping for a button press like 1-4 where 1 is the least possible and 5 is the most possible within the allotted range. Other settings are done this way, so I'm not sure why this couldn't be as well. The plus side of the current way is you can set it to the EXACT amount you wish within the range but a 1-4 scale I'm sure would have had a close setting most would be happy with. Overall there is a lot to love with this machine. Once I got everything dialed in (and many, many cups later) I'm enjoying great tasting coffee and now I'll be able to do so as quickly and often as desired. *NOTE: It's easy to miss but when initially cleaning all the accessories, do not use detergent on the infuser inside the machine. It's engraved on the piece itself but in my poor lighting I didn't see it, plus I was assuming it was part of the step of "clean all the parts and accessories" before first use so I missed that warning.

Lemon
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Milk frothier was great, Espresso or coffee would not brew, Tried two different beans, all the grind settings, if it did decide to brew it was acting like it was over extracting and only dripping, Was a defective unit was looking forward to buying this thing for a long time so it was disappointing to get a lemon for something of this cost, and did not want to wait for a replacement machine after this.

Worth the price if you love making coffee at home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you'd like to stop spending time in line at a coffee shop, and you either don't want super fancy drinks, or don't mind stocking the stuff to make them, then I think you'll love this machine. I think you can tell from promo photos, but just in case, you need to know that this machine is not small. it takes up a pretty good chunk of counter space and it pretty deep due to the built in been hopper and burr grinder. You need some space for this beast. I don't feel like it is oversized for what it is, but if this is your first automatic espresso machine, you might be surprised. Another thing to know that it is not quiet. You won't win any stealth award with this baby. The grinder is quite noisy, and even a simply americano makes plenty of noise at goes through the brew process. Milk based drinks add another dimension of sound as it steams and froths the milk. Again, I don't think it's unreasonable, just know what you are getting. As for setup, it's pretty simple if you follow the instructions. I do not recommend winging it. You need to go through the setup step by step...from installing the filter, priming the machine, setting water hardness, to brewing 3-4 espressos through it before you attempt to drink what it produces. These are all really important steps and you will be frustrated if you don't follow them in order. I have found that the coffee you select is super important. If you don’t love the coffee, you won’t love what this machine brews for you. I know that sounds simple, but I know from experience that it’s easy to blame the machine for bad coffee. Trust me…it isn’t the machine. When I unboxed this, I decided to try a new expresso roast. I didn’t like it, and spend a day and a lb of coffee trying to set the machine. Then it dawned on me that I just didn’t like the coffee itself. I put my go to blend in and it was perfect. Using the simple touch pad to select your beverages is super easy. It doesn’t have a ton of preset options but you can pretty much make anything you want from those basic drinks. I think it does a very nice job with milk based drinks. I use skim milk and get a nice frothy head. It also does well creating a nice crema on espresso if you have quality coffee. I did have to play with the grind a bit to get the aroma and crema that I was looking for. I have it set to a pretty fine grind. There is some personal preference here, but I think you should be able to find a setting that suits your taste. I recommend keeping the manual nearby so you can interpret the lights and look up how to tweak settings until you get familiar with the machine. This is my 2nd DeLonghi machine. I also own the Dinamica. It is absolutely phenomenal, but it costs a bit more than the Magnifica. I do think the next step up is a little easier to use, and it has more drink option, is easier to customize, has an easy to read screen that gives better information, and has a larger milk container for making multiple drinks. If you can afford it, I don’t think you’d be disappointed with that step up. That said, the Magnifica is an awesome machine and will do every bit as good a job making espresso as the higher end model. If you have a coffee habit like mine, investing in this machine might even save you a few bucks. I almost never go to a coffee shop anymore unless I’m travelling. The drinks I make at home are as good, and mostly better than what I can get at an expensive shop. It took me a while to learn how to make my own, but now that I’ve got it figured out, I love playing barista. I think you will too.
