Bought this De'Longhi Magnifica Evo to make capppuccinos during Christmas holiday when Starbucks are closed, and also in view of glory reviews online. But this 15 bar expresso machine we received could not even make a decent cup of coffee. Initially cappuccinos made from beans were decent. It was supposed to be able to make coffee/expresso/cappuccino from pre-grinded coffee too, but it can't. When tested, about half of pre-grinded coffee were not used, but got directly dumped behind the waste bin, see attached photos. On the 3rd day today, it can't even make any coffee drink from coffee beans. Yet, its operations appear normal. Call to De'Longhi customer support were not answered. Also called Bestbuy Total Tech Support, but they couldn't help either. My high hope turned out to be a big disappointment. Maybe I got a lemon? After I cleaned all the parts (milk container alone has 4 parts to be disassembled and cleaned) to put this machine back into its box, I've made up my mind to just return it (thanks to Bestbuy's return policy), not to try another unit. For those on the fence about buying a fully automatic expresso machine, I suggest you think twice before purchase, and think about why Starbucks type of stores don't use fully automatic expresso machines.

Great fully automatic coffee maker. I really enjoy making lattes and cappuccinos. Grinder is a bit loud but it doesnt bother us especially that we can finally have a reliable machine.

I am a coffee lover and I have owned a lot coffee makers, and few years ago I was able to get an espresso coffee machine. But after a while I started to notice some disadvantages. For example, it requires a lot of space of my counter, considering all the accessories like the grinder machine, the portafilter, the coffee tamper, the milk frothing pitcher, the filter baskets, etc. And turns out that I eventually became the barista and every time we had guests at home they asked me for my good espresso coffee so I spend a lot of time grinding the coffee, frothing the milk, making the espresso and the whole process would take me a good 7 minutes per cup, and obviously you want to do it right. Then you have to clean all the accessories, portafilter, frothing pipe, the grinder etc. With the Delonghi, I can have a Cappuccino ready in no more than 2 minutes, with zero effort. Size is very convenient measuring 17.5x10x14.5 inches. Since the first cup of espresso that was prepared when I was just testing it I noticed that this unit proved to be way above my expectations. The espresso looks and tastes delicious, and you can get the frothing milk as well with no effort! Cappuccinos taste great, and all I have to do is just place the cup on the base and the unit takes care of everything, you just select what you want. The machine it is not too big for all that it does, but definitely saves a lot of space in my counter, comparing to my previous Expresso maker, and it looks and feels high quality made. I love how it looks in my counter! You can make regular Coffee, Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso, Foamed Milk and something that was unexpected and it is a huge advantage over other brands, is that you can use Ground or Pre-ground coffee. The setup is super easy, just follow the instructions to perform an initial clean of the system. On page 6, step 4, it will asked you to use a large water container, which I didn’t have, so all you have to do is place the cup on the left side under the hot water spout, once the water has been dispensed, once it stops move the cup to the right under the coffee spout. Then you want to install the water softener filter in the water tank. Just keep in mind that every time you turn on the machine it will pour water through the coffee spout, so put a cup underneath. It is a clever design because you want to flush the pipes before you have your espresso prepared. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow and the whole process won’t take you more than 15 minutes including the unpackaging. You want to prepare at least 4 espressos and dump them until finally try your first espresso. The first time I saw the first cup of espresso being dispensed I couldn’t believe what I was watching. The consistency, the color and smell was great, delicious. And making Cappuccinos and frothed milk was so easy and tasty. You just fill the milk container that is included with milk, preferably full milk for a better result, remove the water spout located on the left side, insert the milk container and that is it. Just remember that every time you use the milk option, the machine will ask you to clean the pipe, so just place an empty cup underneath and the press the button that will be blinking. You can customize many things on this unit, like the strength, quantity, even the grinder setting, that is located on the top in the ground basket area, however after many tests, I found that the default setting works just fine. And there is another basket on top for the Pre-Ground coffee. Having this option was definitely a great idea. I like when a brand gives you several options to choose. The maintenance is very easy. I would definitely recommend it to everybody that loves a good coffee, and not only that but is a time saver, no more spending time just to make sure you can get the perfect coffee, this unit does it for you. Magnifica is definitely the right name for this machine!

Now I see why De'Longhi is a top name in the espresso world. THE GOOD ~ Built-in grinder ~ Adjustable grind ~ Auto-dumps used grounds into a holder below ~ Makes singles or doubles (doppio) ~ Perfect Latte Macchiatos ~ Can program the amount of water you want per cup ~ Makes pretty cups of coffee ~ Attractive black & stainless design ~ Decent footprint ~ Self-cleaning ~ Water softener THE BAD I haven't found anything I dislike about the De'Longhi - Magnifica Evo Coffee and Espresso Machine. THE MEH (could go either way) ~ Expensive ~ Not programmable (can't set to brew at specific time) ~ Self-cleaning OVERALL If you've read this far, you've probably noticed I have "self-cleaning" under both THE GOOD and THE MEH. I'd like to address that first. Every time you turn off the machine, it performs a self-clean and discharges water as if brewing an espresso. That is great. I didn't realize at first it ALSO does it every time you turn the machine on, too. In my house, we drink a lot of espresso, so we now just keep a cup under the spout to make sure we don't forget. I generally drink my espresso black. I'll make a doppio or two and then enjoy it before heading to the gym in the morning. My wife likes lattes. With this, she has discovered and fallen in love with the latte macchiato. She's got me drinking them from time to time now. It brews a perfect espresso or latte macchiato. We have another brand of espresso maker without a built-in grinder. Although we used it all the time, it also proved to be quite messy. We were also spilling little grounds here and there after grinding them and transferring them to the holder for brewing. That is no longer an issue. This grinds the beans, packs them where they need to be internally and then dumps them into a catch below that can be emptied then or when it gets full. Remarkably, although we are using the same exact beans we used with the other espresso maker (which is a leading brand non-K-cup), these drinks seem to taste better. THE BIG QUESTION Would I recommend this to someone? ABSOLUTELY! This machine is great.

The DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO ECAM29084SB comes nicely packaged yet easy to unpackage and set up. When reading the DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO Quick Start Guide, second page, where DELONGHI display and label all the parts to the main machine, there is a note on the bottom right corner that states “This short guide is not intended to explain all the functions of the appliance. Please read all the owner’s instruction booklet before use.” Before you attempt to use the machine and make any beverages, I cannot stress enough, read all the instruction booklets thoroughly. Once set up, the MAGNIFICA EVO took some trial and error however once I got accustomed to the MAGNIFICA EVO making any coffee drink was quick, simple and fun. Water hardness, DELONGHI supplies a water testing strip to test the hardness of your water and make the appropriate adjustments to the MAGNIFICA EVO. I had a very hard time determining the test strip outcome, I had a few others view the strip and they had a problem seeing the difference in color also. We all finally concluded that my water was Level 2 – Slightly Hard Water and I adjusted the coffee machine accordingly. The LatteCrema System does a good job of preparing and delivering the foamy milk to your coffee drink. The milk container dis-assembles easily for cleaning. When you turn on the MAGNIFICA EVO it performs an automatic preheat and rinse cycle. When the machine automatically shuts off, the machine once again performs an automatic preheat and rinse cycle. I find it handy to keep a spare cup under the adjustable coffee spout(s) to catch the water rather than allowing it to dispense into the drip tray. Once automatic preheat/rinse is complete during start-up you can make your beverage of choice. The auto shut down is nice, during shut down the machine will dispense some hot water which flushes out the coffee spouts. I left my machine set on the factory setting of 15 minutes. You can adjust the settings from, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 3 hours. I used a few of my quality coffee/expresso machines to test the coffee/expresso drinks created by the DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO. The DELONGHI machine does a great job of automatically making drinks with the touch of a button or two. I found the coffee drinks comparable and, in some cases, better than the drinks you can purchase at a coffee house. I found the temperature of the expresso and specialty coffees was good however I found the temperature low, than I prefer, for a cup of coffee. I chose to leave the temperature settings at the factory settings. Customizing, you can make custom adjustments to the MAGNIFICA EVO to suit your needs and taste. Adjusting, such as water temperature, can all be done prior to using the MAGNIFICA EVO. Coffee strength and type of coffee are quick adjustments you can make prior to each drink. The process for making any adjustments is very simple when following the instructions in the manual. Use a good quality coffee bean or ground coffee, no coffee maker and make good coffee from inferior beans or ground coffee. A 4 oz package of COPERACO SIGNATURE ESPRESSO BLEND came with the machine, it makes a very good coffee. Whether you are wanting an iced or hot coffee, an expresso, Cappuccino, or Latte macchiato, you will find making these at home just as easy and tasty as some of the well-known coffee houses. You will find yourself making a lot of good coffees with ease. The DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO ECAM29084SB has more features than a person would want to list. The more you use the machine the more you learn and the more fun you have making coffee drinks. I find the price of the DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO high. I suppose if you consider driving to a coffee house, frequently, sitting or waiting in line, and paying $7+ dollars a cup for a coffee drink, you may find the DELONGHI better fits your wishes. The DELONGHI is fun to use, and it is quick and easy to make some great coffee drinks.

The machine have a huge design flaw. The milk container clips keeps cracking and falls apart. Once that happens the machine cannot register milk container is plugged in and the whole machine becomes useless for milk based coffee. Delonghi will never have the part in stock of you are looking to purchase it. You may find on eBay for twice the price. I have two milk containers that cracked within 8 months. Each after about 3-4 months use. This machine and any other delonghi machine belongs in a junkyard.

This 1-star review is based solely on quality control of the product that I purchased in-store. When I unpacked it at home, the espresso machine had blue tape holding the plastic side pieces together. I removed the blue tape only to discover that the plastic from the left side of the machine was disconnected and bulged out. There’s no way to push it back in or reconnect it. Someone at De’Longhi or Best Buy actually tried to tape the machine together to mask the issue and sell it as if it would go undiscovered. Further, the metal cup tray was significantly bent. Very disappointed in the quality control here, especially given the costs of the espresso machine.

Bought this machine last month and now the frothing function is not working, so basically I can’t make any milk-based drinks anymore! Contacted the De’Longhi customer service and am awaiting for their service department to determine if it needs to be sent back and get it repaired. You would expect the machine will work at least a while but it just passed 30days and it is not working properly already. Best Buy only has 14 days return window, so I am out of luck and so disappointed!
